:00:00. > :00:15.Welcome to Look North. Tonight ` so it's goodbye from me

:00:16. > :00:18.Welcome to Look North. Tonight ` wanting to know why: The

:00:19. > :00:21.reconstruction of the last known movements of Simon Holdsworth, which

:00:22. > :00:29.his mother hopes will lead to finding his killer. He did not just

:00:30. > :00:34.die, he was battered to death brutally. We'll have more reaction

:00:35. > :00:37.to last night's Crimewatch appeal. Also tonight, a milestone for

:00:38. > :00:46.Sheffield as the city marks 20 years of Supertram. Feeling the pain ` we

:00:47. > :00:49.catch up with Harry and Amy after the most gruelling part of their

:00:50. > :00:56.Tandem Tour of Yorkshire. It started off nicely enough but after that

:00:57. > :01:13.things went dramatically downhill. Join me for a detailed forecast. Our

:01:14. > :01:17.top story tonight ` the mother of a South Yorkshire man who was murdered

:01:18. > :01:20.just before Christmas has made an emotional appeal for help to find

:01:21. > :01:22.his killer. Simon Holdsworth was walking home from work across

:01:23. > :01:28.playing fields in the Hackenthorpe area of Sheffield when he was

:01:29. > :01:31.attacked. Last night his story appeared on the BBC's Crimewatch

:01:32. > :01:35.programme and the police have released new CCTV pictures of a car

:01:36. > :01:37.and a person they want to trace. Olivia Richwald has been speaking to

:01:38. > :01:46.Simon's mother, Christine Holdsworth. A lovely young man in

:01:47. > :01:49.every way. Happy, bubbly, friendly. He was always outgoing, forthcoming

:01:50. > :02:00.with conversation and chatting, and very loving and caring in every way.

:02:01. > :02:02.It's been three months since Christine Holdsworth's son was

:02:03. > :02:11.murdered, attacked and left in a field to be discovered the next

:02:12. > :02:23.morning. His killer or killers have not been found. It can't be put into

:02:24. > :02:27.words, the way we are feeling now. It's just a great big hole that will

:02:28. > :02:36.never, ever heal. Last night, his story featured on the BBC's

:02:37. > :02:43.Crimewatch programme. Simon left home to go to work. He never came

:02:44. > :02:48.home. After finishing work he caught the bus home and just after 11pm he

:02:49. > :02:59.was attacked as he crossed this field. Now, new CCTV has emerged.

:03:00. > :03:03.This grainy footage captures one single car which parked up at the

:03:04. > :03:06.side of the field where Simon was found. A figure can be seen walking

:03:07. > :03:09.into the field. Two minutes after this was filmed, Simon's bus

:03:10. > :03:13.arrived. Police now wanted to trace that dark`coloured hatchback. They

:03:14. > :03:16.say it is likely to be a Ford Escort Mark Six or Seven or a Vauxhall

:03:17. > :03:30.Astra Mark Four. Police always want to know what happened to his gold

:03:31. > :03:39.chain and is no care for them. `` and what happened to his Nokia

:03:40. > :03:45.phone. He didn't just die, he was brutally murdered. He would not have

:03:46. > :03:48.hurt anyone. Detectives say there was a good response from last

:03:49. > :03:56.night's appeal, and their investigations continue. Whoever did

:03:57. > :04:02.this to Simon Lock away and left them there all night in the field.

:04:03. > :04:17.How could anybody do that and live with themselves? Next tonight to

:04:18. > :04:19.another case featured on Crimewatch. Peter Lawrence, the father of

:04:20. > :04:22.missing York University chef Claudia, has welcomed the dramatic

:04:23. > :04:25.new information about his daughter's case revealed by police on the BBC

:04:26. > :04:31.programme. But he said today it should have been known five years

:04:32. > :04:39.ago when Claudia vanished. Our crime correspondent John Cundy has the

:04:40. > :04:58.latest. Two men into cars seen near Claudia's on. Is this the clearest

:04:59. > :05:12.evidence so far? This could be hugely significant. This is from a

:05:13. > :05:15.witness who says that on the morning of Claudia's disappearance at

:05:16. > :05:18.6:45am, he saw a male described as 55 to 65, with grey hair,

:05:19. > :05:20.mid`length, and he was wearing a three`quarters length a

:05:21. > :05:23.sandy`coloured mac. And there are appeals that police want to find a

:05:24. > :05:30.different man who Claudia opened her door to the previous week. It was

:05:31. > :05:39.about 5:42am in the morning when she would have been walking to work.

:05:40. > :05:42.That vehicle is believed to be a light hatchback, possibly a Ford

:05:43. > :05:48.Focus, and it breaks unexpectedly, we think, near her house. What I

:05:49. > :06:04.want to know is why that vehicle brake, who was in it, and did it

:06:05. > :06:07.stop to give her a lift to work? Claudia's father, Peter, watched

:06:08. > :06:12.last night revelations, and he has his criticisms. I hope it jogs

:06:13. > :06:19.somebody's memory, but it's a pity we did not see five years ago. If

:06:20. > :06:23.any of that links to someone coming forward with even the tiniest bit of

:06:24. > :06:26.information, that gives us hope. I feel that there have been such

:06:27. > :06:31.thoroughness, they are going to make progress, and that is what the

:06:32. > :06:43.family need. It is very critical to the family? It is. It is affecting

:06:44. > :06:46.us. 50 new jobs are being created at a bus`building company in

:06:47. > :06:49.Scarborough. National Express West Midlands has signed a deal for 600

:06:50. > :06:53.vehicles to be built at Alexander Dennis sites in Scarborough, Surrey

:06:54. > :06:56.and Falkirk. The firm says the deal will also help secure 600 existing

:06:57. > :06:58.jobs at the Scarborough site. 25`year`old Dale McLean from

:06:59. > :07:02.Huddersfield has admitted killing a Rugby Union player in a nightclub in

:07:03. > :07:05.Halifax last month. Andrew Feather, who played for Halifax, died after

:07:06. > :07:11.being punched during a match celebration in the Liquid nightclub.

:07:12. > :07:14.McLean, who admitted his manslaughter when he appeared at

:07:15. > :07:17.Bradford Crown Court, will be sentenced next month. Plans to turn

:07:18. > :07:33.Bradford's former Odeon cinema into a sports facility have been

:07:34. > :07:36.withdrawn. Bradford Council, which owns the building, had received

:07:37. > :07:39.three expressions of interest for the site. A group wanted to develop

:07:40. > :07:42.a swimming, diving and athletics centre there, but they've pulled out

:07:43. > :07:46.of the process. The remaining two bids are to turn the building into

:07:47. > :07:49.either a cultural centre or live music venue. Tributes have been paid

:07:50. > :07:53.in Parliament to the former Labour MP for Chesterfield Tony Benn, who

:07:54. > :07:56.died last week. Mr Benn was at the forefront of left`wing politics for

:07:57. > :07:59.more than 50 years. During today's debate MPs from all parties paid

:08:00. > :08:02.tribute to Mr Benn, including the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

:08:03. > :08:06.His son and Leeds MP Hilary Benn received a round of applause in the

:08:07. > :08:08.Commons as he spoke about his father. He was barred from entry to

:08:09. > :08:16.the chamber on the instructions of the Speaker because his blood was

:08:17. > :08:25.blue. His blood was never blue, it was the deepest red throughout. He

:08:26. > :08:39.will be remembered as a dedicated constituency member of Parliament

:08:40. > :08:42.and a diarist. A burglar from Rotherham's been jailed after

:08:43. > :08:47.sending a "selfie" to his victim's colleagues by mistake. Ashley Keast

:08:48. > :08:51.took this picture using a mobile phone SIM card he stole during a

:08:52. > :08:53.break`in at a house in Brinsworth last year. The victim's colleagues

:08:54. > :08:58.reported the picture to police after he sent it to them by mistake. Keast

:08:59. > :09:13.was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. Before seven

:09:14. > :09:16.o'clock: In search of European glory ` one of Sheffield's brightest

:09:17. > :09:23.boxing talents gears up for a fight hoping to add to the British title

:09:24. > :09:26.he already holds. Harry and Amy face their toughest challenge yet on the

:09:27. > :09:37.penultimate day of their Tandom Tour of Yorkshire. But first, Sheffield's

:09:38. > :09:41.Supertram is 20 years old this week, but Look North has discovered that

:09:42. > :09:44.people in South Yorkshire will still be paying for its construction for

:09:45. > :09:47.another ten years. March 1994 saw the first tram link between the city

:09:48. > :09:50.centre and Meadowhall. There had been plans to widen the network to

:09:51. > :09:54.Barnsley and Doncaster, but that never happened. The project cost

:09:55. > :09:58.?240 million and completely transformed the city centre. Now

:09:59. > :10:01.it's preparing to make its debut in Rotherham. James Vincent reports.

:10:02. > :10:07.Sheffield was one of the last places to get rid of its original trams, in

:10:08. > :10:19.1960. There were state`of`the`art designs for the new ones. Super tram

:10:20. > :10:29.arrived in 1994 but low passenger numbers mean that it got off to a

:10:30. > :10:38.slow start but no Supertram has 15 million passenger journeys per year.

:10:39. > :10:44.`` now Supertram has 15 million passenger journeys. I do not have a

:10:45. > :10:51.car so I need to get around somehow so I use the tram. I did not realise

:10:52. > :11:00.it was 20 years. It is not as much fun as the old trams. The best tram

:11:01. > :11:07.stop? The one where we have to get off. When Supertram first came to

:11:08. > :11:11.Sheffield, it was deemed a failure at 20 years on the sound of the bell

:11:12. > :11:22.and the sight of people coming into the city centre would be something

:11:23. > :11:34.that Sheffield would feel strange without. There are plans to run the

:11:35. > :11:37.trams along rail lines to Rotherham. People work and live between the two

:11:38. > :11:43.areas and constantly travel between them. We have had a crazy system

:11:44. > :11:46.where transport links have not been as good as it should be. Trams are

:11:47. > :11:53.an important part of addressing that. Confirmation today that the

:11:54. > :12:01.?240 million bill still has not been cleared. 20 years after the first

:12:02. > :12:07.started running, it will take another ten years to pay for

:12:08. > :12:10.Supertram. I remember living in Sheffield at the time that it was

:12:11. > :12:20.ill and the hideous construction that went on for months and years

:12:21. > :12:23.and got everybody really angry. Some sports news now, and the managing

:12:24. > :12:26.director of Leeds United has been pushing for the football authorities

:12:27. > :12:29.to make a decision today about the long`awaited takeover of the club.

:12:30. > :12:33.David Haigh has arranged for legal letters to be sent to the Football

:12:34. > :12:36.League, asking it to rule on Italian businessman Massimo Cellino's

:12:37. > :12:40.proposal to buy a controlling stake in the club. Mr Haigh says the delay

:12:41. > :12:49.is harming the club's ability to move forward ` describing it as

:12:50. > :12:51.unprecedented and unfair. Boxing now, and this weekend, one of

:12:52. > :12:55.Sheffield's brightest talents is hoping to add to the British title

:12:56. > :12:58.he already holds. Barry Awad, also known as Kid Galahad, is fighting

:12:59. > :13:03.for the European title on Saturday night. Shamir Masri reports. Last

:13:04. > :13:13.time out, Barry Awad won the British title, in what was just his 15th

:13:14. > :13:26.professional fight. On Saturday, he is hoping to add the European belt

:13:27. > :13:29.to his collection. If he is successful, the winner will come to

:13:30. > :13:32.decades after his fellow countryman Prince Naseem picked up his European

:13:33. > :13:41.title, at the very same venue, Sheffield's Forge. I'm going to do

:13:42. > :13:45.it 20 years later. It is going to become believable. I can't win to

:13:46. > :13:49.win the title back, show it to Brendan, show it to everyone in the

:13:50. > :13:52.gym, and it will be unbelievable. Prince Naseem's trainer is shared by

:13:53. > :14:01.Kid Galahad. But the similarities between the two end there. He's

:14:02. > :14:10.never going to be another Naseem, another Johnny Nelson or whoever. He

:14:11. > :14:13.will define his own style. They all find their own unique style, and

:14:14. > :14:16.people latch onto that, and it is exciting to watch. Barry Awad faces

:14:17. > :14:20.former Spanish champion Sergio Prado for the belt. He is confident he can

:14:21. > :14:27.come out on top and be crowned European Champion. I've been trained

:14:28. > :14:31.since I was 14, two or three hours each day at least. It is only

:14:32. > :14:50.starting to pay off now ten years later. Now it's day seven of Look

:14:51. > :14:53.North's Tandem Tour de Yorkshire. Just to remind you, our intrepid

:14:54. > :14:57.presenters Harry and Amy are cycling all 250 miles of the Yorkshire

:14:58. > :15:00.stages of the Tour de France on a bicycle made for two. They're doing

:15:01. > :15:03.it in aid of Sport Relief, and they've already raised more than

:15:04. > :15:06.?53,000. Today's route started in Elland. They climbed up to Ainley

:15:07. > :15:09.Top, then on through Huddersfield, Honley and Holmfirth. Then the

:15:10. > :15:13.dreaded Holme Moss climb up to the wet and windy heights of the

:15:14. > :15:16.Pennines. Well the weather up there has been absolutely atrocious ` so

:15:17. > :15:20.they've now driven on to Langsett to take shelter for the night ` a total

:15:21. > :15:24.of 222 miles into their epic journey ` and they're now facing an early

:15:25. > :15:27.start tomorrow to complete the last bit of this stage. A pretty rotten

:15:28. > :15:30.day for you guys. How are you doing? We are all right, nice and warm now

:15:31. > :15:33.in the part. The fire is rolling and the bunting is out. Sadly we did not

:15:34. > :15:38.make it down onto wheels as we hoped. Today has been the hardest.

:15:39. > :15:46.We have been battling high wind speeds and torrential rain but we

:15:47. > :15:53.made it to the top all 500 metres up and we have the T`shirt to prove it.

:15:54. > :16:04.Everyone is dead here. Wake up everybody. The forecast was

:16:05. > :16:07.incredibly accurate today. At 1:45pm the rain started and got heavier and

:16:08. > :16:20.heavier and the wind got worse and worse and worse. It was all smiles

:16:21. > :16:30.at the start. Helped by Yorkshire's Olympic golden boy Ed Clancy. What

:16:31. > :16:40.is your advice for getting these hills because we are dreading that?

:16:41. > :16:51.I guess it is best just to pace yourself and it will only be three

:16:52. > :16:58.miles of claiming. `` only three miles of climbing. We cycle to

:16:59. > :17:12.school whenever we can and we really enjoyed it. Harry and Amy were left

:17:13. > :17:19.to breeze into Huddersfield. There were warm welcome is there and in

:17:20. > :17:36.the valley. There were some or slightly senior people who came

:17:37. > :17:47.along as well. The road started to tilt up words and then got even

:17:48. > :17:52.steeper. When the bus said that Harry and Amy were going to do a

:17:53. > :17:58.tandem tour, the cyclist in the office said they would never do it,

:17:59. > :18:10.not on a tandem. And guess what? They are doing it right now for

:18:11. > :18:16.Yorkshire and for Sport Relief. You can see all the cars up there. You

:18:17. > :18:22.have just done the most difficult bit so just keep going. Yorkshire is

:18:23. > :18:28.right behind you. Good luck to you. But the gradient got sharper and

:18:29. > :18:49.sharper and the weather got progressively worse. Come on, Amy

:18:50. > :18:57.excavation work. Harry and Amy ploughed on to reach the top despite

:18:58. > :19:04.their pain. I have never felt anything like that. It is worse than

:19:05. > :19:12.childbirth. No need for Harry and Amy to go any further today. The

:19:13. > :19:30.high winds made and thinkable to make it down the hill again. It

:19:31. > :19:37.broke me. You drama queen. We had Mountain Rescue with us all the way.

:19:38. > :19:43.We wanted to come down on the tandem and then freewheel all the way down.

:19:44. > :19:48.You advise that we should not. The conditions were really tough to date

:19:49. > :19:51.with such strong winds and driving rain. The wind was blowing up the

:19:52. > :19:56.hill and it would have been dangerous to you to cycle down

:19:57. > :20:03.because the gusts of wind would have pushed you sideways. You said it was

:20:04. > :20:10.safe to go up earlier but did you change your mind? You have a really

:20:11. > :20:15.strong support team with you and as long as you have those things in

:20:16. > :20:18.place you will be safe. However when we rounded that last corner at the

:20:19. > :20:30.top we felt the full force of the wind. Once you came round the top it

:20:31. > :20:41.was really fierce. We had so many cars who were fantastic with their

:20:42. > :20:46.support. Here is Paul Ogden. You know this area very well and are 18

:20:47. > :20:55.cyclist. Where we drama queens today? No, it was very tough. I

:20:56. > :21:00.nearly gave up myself when the heel stones were burning our cheeks. I

:21:01. > :21:04.thought it was a bit too dangerous and I am really glad for your health

:21:05. > :21:08.and safety but you did not go down the hill because it would have been

:21:09. > :21:15.too dangerous. Hats off to the peer review because we know about you

:21:16. > :21:23.having your pelvis realigned, Amy, and footballer's calves. I really

:21:24. > :21:31.enjoyed being with you today and you deserve immense credit. She really

:21:32. > :21:38.suffered and I started to cry and she started to cry. When you see

:21:39. > :21:45.something like that you appreciate what the experts do and they go up,

:21:46. > :21:52.admittedly in the summer, in about 40 seconds. They have timed it

:21:53. > :21:57.officially and they reckoned they will get up there in about six

:21:58. > :22:02.minutes. And that is from the middle of Huddersfield. We got there in

:22:03. > :22:06.about 45 minutes or something like that. The conditions will be

:22:07. > :22:10.different but it is a completely different universe that they work

:22:11. > :22:17.in. A completely different environment. How did today compared

:22:18. > :22:23.to other experiences you have had up there? It was frightening at times.

:22:24. > :22:29.I got blown over on my bike and that does not happen many other places in

:22:30. > :22:35.Europe, let alone Yorkshire. I looked over my shoulder at one time

:22:36. > :22:41.and all I could see was a barrier which I fell into. It was genuinely

:22:42. > :22:45.frightening but you have to get a sense of perspective. Worse things

:22:46. > :22:48.can happen and you were raising money for a great cause and there

:22:49. > :22:54.was a great sense of camaraderie between tolerance motorists,

:22:55. > :22:59.ourselves and the people who were supporting us. We had people in

:23:00. > :23:06.their 80s and 90s cheering up the hill and all of that drama today

:23:07. > :23:28.helped raise over ?53,000. That is just incredible. Thank you so much

:23:29. > :23:32.to everyone who has them `` donated. You can give ?1 to Sport Relief by

:23:33. > :23:36.texting BIKE to 7001. Or go online to just giving.com/tandemtour. Or

:23:37. > :23:39.you can send a cheque payable to Sport Relief to Tandem Tour, BBC

:23:40. > :23:44.Yorkshire, two St Peter's Square, Leeds, LS9 8AH. The local radio

:23:45. > :24:07.stations have been fantastic. Please continue to do so tomorrow. Tomorrow

:24:08. > :24:12.we will be at the top of Holme Moss at 8am, and will be at Langsett by

:24:13. > :24:18.around nine. Then it's on to High Bradfield at 11, Oughtibridge at

:24:19. > :24:26.midday and Norwood by half past one. We will be at Meadowhall at about

:24:27. > :24:30.330. And the whole thing finishes in Sheffield, and we'd love you to come

:24:31. > :24:34.along. We'll be at the English Institute of Sport at six o'clock.

:24:35. > :24:39.Please give us as much support and encouragement as you can. We are

:24:40. > :24:44.adding an extra 11 miles onto our route tomorrow. We're talking about

:24:45. > :24:54.38 miles tomorrow. What will the weather be like?

:24:55. > :24:59.Some of those gusts were approaching 60 miles an hour this afternoon.

:25:00. > :25:06.Tomorrow the weather looks a lot kinder and morning will see a lot of

:25:07. > :25:11.sunshine around with much less wind. It will be a bit chilly and a risk

:25:12. > :25:14.of a few showers developing through tomorrow afternoon but a massive

:25:15. > :25:20.improvement on the dreadful conditions you had through the

:25:21. > :25:24.course of this afternoon. Sunny spells and scattered showers will

:25:25. > :25:30.come through during tomorrow afternoon so the morning should be

:25:31. > :25:34.dry. It is a very unsettled picture. The spring equinox was this

:25:35. > :25:40.afternoon when the sun was directly over the equator. I think though

:25:41. > :25:45.that gardens will have to watch out for frosts this weekend and maybe

:25:46. > :25:57.slate and he'll and even some snow over the hills. The cold front is

:25:58. > :26:04.very heavy and has been accurately timed all week. The trend over night

:26:05. > :26:06.will be for the weather to become mostly dry and we will see
