:00:07. > :00:11.Good evening from a special edition of Look North here in Sheffield ` as
:00:12. > :00:17.we welcome home Harry and Amy from their intrepid tandem tour. They've
:00:18. > :00:28.attracted a huge crowd ` and a bucket load of cash for Sport
:00:29. > :00:32.Relief. They're only minutes away now ` we
:00:33. > :00:42.can just see them coming in ` there they are now, flanked by police
:00:43. > :00:54.outriders, cyclists convoy. 250 miles, eight gruelling days, but

:01:20. > :01:42.spring. Join me for the forecast. Well Yorkshire's leg of the Tour de
:01:43. > :01:46.France ends here in Sheffield ` and in a few moments Harry and Amy will
:01:47. > :01:51.end their Tandem Tour de Yorkshire, right here in the English Institute
:01:52. > :02:02.of Sport. They're just minutes away ` getting
:02:03. > :02:12.a good reception out there. It is all in a good cause. And hopefully
:02:13. > :02:19.we'll have their final tally before the end of the programme. We
:02:20. > :02:24.estimate it could be in excess of ?80,000. We're going to give them a
:02:25. > :02:30.good reception aren't we? Let's remind ourselves of the scale
:02:31. > :02:36.of this challenge. It was all smiles when they started in Leeds eight
:02:37. > :02:38.long days ago. They conquered Buttertubs Pass while cycling
:02:39. > :02:46.through our beautiful and very hilly Yorkshire Dales into Harrogate and
:02:47. > :02:54.York. There were those killer climbs ` Cragg Vale and Holme Moss. And
:02:55. > :02:58.today at the end of 250 miles they are here in Sheffield. What did the
:02:59. > :03:13.route throw at them on their final day? Ian White reports.
:03:14. > :03:24.Yesterday at horrendous climb. The weather brought tears to the eyes.
:03:25. > :03:30.The wind is wild. But the wind is not going to stop them today.
:03:31. > :03:35.Keeping them safe week, a team of motorbike outriders. It has been
:03:36. > :03:51.good fun. The motorists have been fantastic. He is not well. He has

:04:02. > :04:26.Harry and Amy going is the support from the viewers.
:04:27. > :04:46.had to do our bit. It has been terrible for them.
:04:47. > :04:55.We are so proud. With the end of the tandem to getting closer there was
:04:56. > :05:03.more encouragement. We are nearly beat but not quite. My car is
:05:04. > :05:11.struggling, imagine what their legs are doing. There is a handrail here
:05:12. > :06:05.for a reason. It is tough. The countdown begins. Here they
:06:06. > :06:14.come. They will feel a great sense of relief as they pass the finish
:06:15. > :06:24.line. They are looking pretty good to me. They are all smiles as they
:06:25. > :06:32.arrive at the finishing line. Welcome home. How do you feel?
:06:33. > :06:38.Fantastic. Amazing eight days. Something I never thought I would
:06:39. > :06:47.achieve. He is, Lowes, exhilaration, the lot.
:06:48. > :06:56.I will be sad to not see it tomorrow. It has been brilliant. We
:06:57. > :07:04.have had our real giggle. The crowds have been incredible.
:07:05. > :07:18.I have got two very special people to introduce you to.
:07:19. > :07:28.This is Harry. This is Amy. A yellow Jersey. Fantastic.
:07:29. > :07:34.I bet you cannot wait to get back on a bike. The good news is you are
:07:35. > :07:42.going back to Leeds on it. Absolutely no way.
:07:43. > :07:48.We will come back to you in a few moments time.
:07:49. > :08:26.There is still time for people to donate.

:11:15. > :11:18.And there's more on this story on this week's Sunday Politics ` at 11
:11:19. > :11:22.o'clock on BBC One. The cost to Yorkshire of putting on
:11:23. > :11:28.the Tour de France this summer has been underestimated by over ?2
:11:29. > :11:31.million. A new report shows that the company which will be supplying

:11:39. > :11:46.with just over a hundred days to go till the Tour starts here?
:11:47. > :11:53.It is a bit embarrassing as opposed to deeply worrying. The organisers
:11:54. > :11:57.of the Grand Depart wanted to talk about their latest update. They say
:11:58. > :12:03.that broadly speaking they are on track. That we have ended up talking

:12:12. > :12:17.and signs has been chosen because the winning bid is for 4.5 million
:12:18. > :12:21.pounds, more than double the original estimate. This internal
:12:22. > :12:28.report suggests that the estimate was and realistically low. That is
:12:29. > :12:33.embarrassing. It has led to questions. Questions that I put to
:12:34. > :12:40.the chairman of the company that runs the Grand Depart. Those who
:12:41. > :12:44.prepared the original budget could be forgiven for any and provision
:12:45. > :12:48.that have made. We are of the opinion that the money we have
:12:49. > :12:57.available to as provided by the local authority, transport for
:12:58. > :13:02.London, if properly managed will more than covered the job that we
:13:03. > :13:08.have been asked to do. Where are we going to get the money from?
:13:09. > :13:14.I suppose he has seen steady numbers from when he was in charge of

:13:20. > :13:25.are some authorities that have not been asked for money yet. There is a

:15:53. > :16:02.And Phil, there's quite a party going on there.
:16:03. > :16:11.As you can see the crowds once again have turned out in Sheffield. Here

:16:35. > :16:46.Fantastic. You are here as well. Why did you come along? Just to watch
:16:47. > :16:55.them finish. Why have you come along tonight? We have been following them
:16:56. > :17:01.all day. We have come down to support them tonight. Would you
:17:02. > :17:11.attempt anything like this yourself? Absolutely not. Thank you for
:17:12. > :17:25.talking to us. Let us talk to the stars of the show.
:17:26. > :17:34.Your families have given you all the support. Without them you would have
:17:35. > :17:40.struggled. To experience what we have gone through this week, you
