:00:00. > :00:14.Good evening. A couple from Leeds That's all from us.

:00:15. > :00:18.Good evening. A couple from Leeds have spoken out about the stigma and

:00:19. > :00:24.isolation that's often felt by Asian families who have children with

:00:25. > :00:27.learning disabilities. Sarbjit Core and Jatinder Singh`Mehmi say they've

:00:28. > :00:30.come up against a lot of ignorance, including the belief that they've

:00:31. > :00:35.been cursed, simply because their son Gian has Down's syndrome. Anna

:00:36. > :00:37.Crossley has been to meet the family.

:00:38. > :00:42.Three`year`old Gian is a familiar face at his local temple in Leeds.

:00:43. > :00:47.His parents have been bringing him here to worship since he was a baby.

:00:48. > :00:50.Although Sarbjit and Jatinder say they have always been made to feel

:00:51. > :00:53.welcome here, people's reactions from elsewhere in the Sikh community

:00:54. > :00:59.have not always been positive, just because Gian has Down's syndrome.

:01:00. > :01:02.We've read things in books saying children born with disabilities,

:01:03. > :01:07.it's a curse; it's something they've done bad in their previous life and

:01:08. > :01:12.it's a punishment. People think it is a disease and they gave us advice

:01:13. > :01:16.on how to cure it. It's not a disease. It's something that he's

:01:17. > :01:19.got but it doesn't define his whole personality. Sarbjit and Jatinder

:01:20. > :01:23.clearly receive a lot of support from within their own temple but

:01:24. > :01:26.they also want to let other parents know that there is other available

:01:27. > :01:33.in the wider community, and that cultural differences will be treated

:01:34. > :01:37.sensitively. Ailith Harley`Roberts runs a Down's syndrome support group

:01:38. > :01:45.in Leeds and says they welcome everyone, irrespective of ethnicity

:01:46. > :01:49.and religious beliefs. We realise that people don't necessarily want

:01:50. > :01:53.to come to a group and it might not be the right time for them to come

:01:54. > :01:57.to a group situation, so we do also say that we're very happy to meet

:01:58. > :02:05.people at home and talk about support they would find helpful.

:02:06. > :02:10.It's a culturally sensitive issue, but Sarbjit and Jatinder feel it's

:02:11. > :02:13.important to reassure other parents that there's support out there, and

:02:14. > :02:23.that having a child with a learning disability is not a curse or a

:02:24. > :02:26.punishment. The Attorney General has lost his

:02:27. > :02:29.appeal against what he described as the lenient sentence given to a

:02:30. > :02:35.Sheffield ice`cream maker who kept another man as a slave. Dominic

:02:36. > :02:38.Grieve was attempting to increase the six`and`a`half year jail term

:02:39. > :02:47.handed to David Rooke for false imprisonment and assault. He was

:02:48. > :02:50.convicted in January this year of keeping Craig Kinsella, a man with

:02:51. > :02:54.learning difficulties, in his garage and forcing him to live like a

:02:55. > :02:56.modern`day slave. But the Court of Appeal ruled the sentence wasn't too

:02:57. > :03:00.low. 22 people have now been identified

:03:01. > :03:05.as suspects at the centre of the two ongoing inquiries into the

:03:06. > :03:11.Hillsborough disaster in 1989. 96 Liverpool football fans died at the

:03:12. > :03:15.Sheffield Wednesday ground. A mix of serving and retired police officers

:03:16. > :03:19.as well as others working for other organisations at the time are being

:03:20. > :03:22.interviewed. Alleged offences include manslaughter, misconduct in

:03:23. > :03:30.a public office and perverting the course of justice.

:03:31. > :03:33.Now, Sheffield steel is known around the world, and it used to be found

:03:34. > :03:37.on golf courses everywhere before other metals came into use. Well,

:03:38. > :03:45.now a Rotherham company is aiming to put Sheffield steel clubs back on

:03:46. > :03:48.the fairway. The only handicap is that their prototype has been deemed

:03:49. > :03:52.too risky for conventional financial backing. Our business correspondent

:03:53. > :03:55.Danni Hewson reports. Precision comes as standard at

:03:56. > :04:01.Newburgh engineering, from aerospace to military projects. The core

:04:02. > :04:04.business is booming, but despite their proven track record a new

:04:05. > :04:07.scheme to make golf clubs has struggled to get off the ground. A

:04:08. > :04:15.hangover from the credit crunch, finding finance is stopping

:04:16. > :04:19.innovation at the first tee. Most financial people just don't

:04:20. > :04:24.understand it so they tend to move away from things they don't

:04:25. > :04:29.understand, and if they cannot see an immediate return. It has been

:04:30. > :04:41.difficult to raise money and we have tried to get funding from various

:04:42. > :04:44.routes and failed. We are going out to Kickstarter, a crowd funding

:04:45. > :04:48.site, and anyone can take part in the project. From Monday, anyone can

:04:49. > :04:51.pledge money to the project but only those offering ?1,000 will get one

:04:52. > :04:54.of the putters. But then these are slice of history and if the project

:04:55. > :04:59.fails, the only other way you will get them made is in an auction

:05:00. > :05:03.house. I'm not a golfer but I'm told this could bring about a new era,

:05:04. > :05:05.repatriating golf club production to South Yorkshire with that

:05:06. > :05:14.all`important made in Sheffield stamp. So why now after so many

:05:15. > :05:19.years is steel making it back on the fairway? We can do it because we

:05:20. > :05:26.have the technology, the materials and the reputation. Big dreams, now

:05:27. > :05:29.they just need the cash. In the next 90 minutes, a same`sex

:05:30. > :05:33.couple from Sheffield will become one of the first the country to get

:05:34. > :05:36.married. Richie Wood and Kyle Emerson met seven years ago, but

:05:37. > :05:41.organised their big day at Sheffield town hall in just 26 days. They're

:05:42. > :05:44.celebrating in reverse order, with the wedding breakfast taking place

:05:45. > :05:52.as we speak, and the ceremony just after midnight, when same`sex

:05:53. > :05:58.marriage becomes legal. As much as it is about gaining

:05:59. > :06:02.equality for us, it is about the commitment we are entering into, and

:06:03. > :06:06.just the fact you have to call it a civil partnership as opposed to a

:06:07. > :06:11.marriage automatically gives you a barrier and segregates you in the

:06:12. > :06:18.community. We are just so excited we now have the opportunity and the

:06:19. > :06:21.chance to get married. Onto sport now, and in Superleague

:06:22. > :06:25.tonight Leeds Rhinos have been taking on Saint Helens in a top of

:06:26. > :06:28.the table clash. Both teams were unbeaten so far this season and a

:06:29. > :06:32.win for the Rhinos would have seen them go top, but in a closely`fought

:06:33. > :06:35.match it was an injury`hit Saints side that emerged as winners. The

:06:36. > :06:39.final score, 14`10 to Saint Helens, with the winning try from Tom

:06:40. > :06:45.Makinson in the dying minutes of the game. It has been a dull foremost,

:06:46. > :06:50.here is the weather forecast. Right now, a lot of cloud across

:06:51. > :06:55.Yorkshire, but we will pull drier air the continent on Saturday

:06:56. > :07:04.afternoon, and Sunday afternoon is looking promising too. Some rain

:07:05. > :07:08.across the south`east for a time, and hill fog as well with

:07:09. > :07:16.temperatures down to five or six degrees. A grey, damp start to

:07:17. > :07:20.Saturday, but very slowly that cloud breaks up from the south`east and

:07:21. > :07:25.tomorrow afternoon most places will be sunny, inland becoming really

:07:26. > :07:32.quite warm. The coast will be a good deal cooler with a breeze, and it is

:07:33. > :07:35.a similar forecast on Sunday. A grey start with lots of sunshine later.

:07:36. > :07:43.Now the National forecast.

:07:44. > :07:47.Hello. The clocks go forward this weekend, marking the beginning of

:07:48. > :07:51.British summertime, BST. It has nothing to do with the weather. As

:07:52. > :07:57.the clocks changed last year we were coming out of the March freeze.

:07:58. > :08:03.This year, though, as the clucks change, the weather is warming up.

:08:04. > :08:04.Not clear blue sky, the sun
