:00:08. > :00:12.Good evening and welcome to Look North.

:00:13. > :00:17.The grandfather of a four`year`old girl who died when the car she was

:00:18. > :00:20.in was hit by a train on a level crossing near Doncaster says he

:00:21. > :00:23.wants them outlawed. Emma Lifsey was travelling with her grandmother

:00:24. > :00:26.when, dazzled by the sun, they went though a half`barrier and ended up

:00:27. > :00:28.on the tracks of the Doncaster to Gainsborough line. Sarah Corker

:00:29. > :00:32.reports. Emma's favourite teddy bear is at

:00:33. > :00:35.the centre of the Lifsey family's memorial to the four`year`old.

:00:36. > :00:40.Her grandfather makes frequent visits here, and hopes the tributes

:00:41. > :00:46.can also act as a warning to others. It is a heightened sense of danger.

:00:47. > :00:49.I do think it is a dangerous place. Emma's grandmother, Diane Jarrett,

:00:50. > :00:53.was driving her home when her car crashed through the barriers and was

:00:54. > :00:56.hit by a train. She suddenly saw the barrier. She says that she thought,

:00:57. > :01:03.that's too late, that's too late. She didn't see the train. There was

:01:04. > :01:08.this explosion and the car was ripped to bits. An investigation

:01:09. > :01:12.into the accident here found that the glare of the sun that day could

:01:13. > :01:15.have made it difficult for Diane Jarrett to see the warning lights

:01:16. > :01:18.and the half`barriers, and that the lights themselves were less than

:01:19. > :01:25.half as bright as they should have been. The accident has raised wider

:01:26. > :01:29.questions about safety at crossings. Things could have been done that may

:01:30. > :01:33.well have stopped this tragedy. Things can be done now to stop other

:01:34. > :01:40.tragedies in the future. That has to be the focus of Network Rail. There

:01:41. > :01:43.are 6,500 level crossings in the UK and, in the past five years, there

:01:44. > :01:48.have been 44 deaths on those crossings. Network Rail say they

:01:49. > :01:51.have invested more than ?100 million to make improvements. Despite this,

:01:52. > :01:59.450 automatic half`barriers are still in place. I would like

:02:00. > :02:07.half`barrier crossings to be outlawed, a thing of the past.

:02:08. > :02:10.Proper, full barrier crossings. I think they have got to make them so

:02:11. > :02:17.conspicuous that, whatever the weather conditions, if if it's down,

:02:18. > :02:20.you know it's down. Do you think that will save lives? Yes, I think

:02:21. > :02:27.it will. The 15`year`old boy accused of the

:02:28. > :02:31.murder of Leeds teacher Ann Maguire has been told he could face trial in

:02:32. > :02:34.November. The boy appeared on a video link to Leeds Crown Court this

:02:35. > :02:37.morning. Meanwhile, more relatives of Ann saw for themselves this

:02:38. > :02:40.afternoon the massive array of tributes to her which have built up

:02:41. > :02:45.all week outside the school where she was killed. John Cundy reports.

:02:46. > :02:48.A family in mourning. A group of Ann McGuire's relatives, thought to

:02:49. > :02:51.include her two sisters, looked closely at the long line of floral

:02:52. > :02:54.tributes and heartfelt poems posted outside the Corpus Christi College.

:02:55. > :02:58.Local Labour MP Hilary Benn was also among visitors to the college this

:02:59. > :03:07.afternoon, and there was the warmest of tributes to Ann from a former

:03:08. > :03:11.head teacher at Corpus Christi. It is very clearly the case here

:03:12. > :03:15.that the life of commitment of Ann McGuire is the story. The tragic end

:03:16. > :03:19.her life has taken, the real story is a person that has lived for 41

:03:20. > :03:27.years in the community and made a real difference, day in, day out.

:03:28. > :03:30.Really cared about people. The 15`year`old boy arrested soon

:03:31. > :03:32.after Ann's murder on Monday made his first appearance at Leeds Crown

:03:33. > :03:35.Court this morning. Meanwhile, police have revealed they arrested a

:03:36. > :03:38.second 15`year`old boy yesterday in connection with their investigation.

:03:39. > :03:46.He was later released without charge.

:03:47. > :03:49.Today, Ann McGuire's family saw and took comfort from the many tributes

:03:50. > :03:52.to the much`loved teacher. They surveyed the scenes which have been

:03:53. > :03:58.broadcast this week throughout the world.

:03:59. > :04:02.South Yorkshire Police have described the actions of a young

:04:03. > :04:06.woman who forced children into prostitution as "grotesque". Amanda

:04:07. > :04:09.Spencer, from Sheffield, was just 16 when she began befriending

:04:10. > :04:15.vulnerable young girls, enticing them with drugs and alcohol and then

:04:16. > :04:18.effectively selling them for sex. Now 23, she's been found guilty of

:04:19. > :04:23.16 charges relating to child prostitution, and cleared of eight.

:04:24. > :04:27.The jury failed to reach verdicts on a further 14 charges. It beggars

:04:28. > :04:30.belief, really, that a young female could actually, in effect, pimp

:04:31. > :04:34.other young vulnerable females for so long for the benefit of money,

:04:35. > :04:40.drugs and to curry favour with various people.

:04:41. > :04:46.A murder investigation is underway this evening in Huddersfield. The

:04:47. > :04:49.body of a man was found inside a flat on Ashenhurst Rise. A

:04:50. > :04:53.48`year`old man was arrested in suspicion of murder.

:04:54. > :04:57.Inquests into the deaths of five people who died in a fatal house

:04:58. > :05:00.fire in Sheffield were opened this afternoon. Three children died in

:05:01. > :05:03.the fire ` two brothers and their nine`week`old baby sister. Their

:05:04. > :05:05.aunt and grandmother were also killed. A joint investigation by

:05:06. > :05:09.South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

:05:10. > :05:13.into what caused the fire on Wake Road is still ongoing.

:05:14. > :05:16.One of the drivers involved in the crash between a mini`bus and a lorry

:05:17. > :05:19.which killed a teenage girl on the M62 has pleaded not guilty to

:05:20. > :05:23.causing her death by dangerous driving. The lorry driver, Kevin

:05:24. > :05:27.Ollerhead, from St Helens, denied the charge when he appeared at court

:05:28. > :05:31.today. Beth Jones, from South Elmsall, died in the mini`bus on the

:05:32. > :05:35.motorway near Castleford as she and her friends were on their way to a

:05:36. > :05:40.hen party. The mini`bus driver has not yet entered a plea.

:05:41. > :05:43.In rugby league, Leeds took on Super League holders, Wigan, tonight.

:05:44. > :05:46.There was a minute's silence before the game kicked`off to remember

:05:47. > :05:50.Leeds teacher Ann Maguire. The Rhinos dominated throughout and it

:05:51. > :05:56.finished 28`12 to Leeds, who go top of the league.

:05:57. > :05:59.Finally tonight, an infant school in Sheffield has celebrated its 40th

:06:00. > :06:01.anniversary this week. Pupils marked the celebrations by planting a

:06:02. > :06:06.commemorative tree in the grounds and holding a special party. Almost

:06:07. > :06:10.40 years before that, though, the school appeared on Look North, way

:06:11. > :06:27.back in 1974, in a feature about children's books.

:06:28. > :06:34.The bank holiday weekend does not look too bad, particularly tomorrow.

:06:35. > :06:44.It will get warmer through the weekend, as well. Some spots our

:06:45. > :06:52.already dying around freezing, so in some places it will get down below

:06:53. > :06:55.freezing tonight. This high pressure is going to move off, and the

:06:56. > :07:02.low`pressure replacing it will cause more unstable weather. It will be a

:07:03. > :07:07.dry, clear night to night. I wouldn't be surprised if a few

:07:08. > :07:16.places don't slip below freezing tonight. Tomorrow morning, had cold

:07:17. > :07:21.to the day, but bright. As a go through the day, it will stay

:07:22. > :07:24.largely drive. More cloud will bubble up from the West. The

:07:25. > :07:34.pictures along the coast will be a little bit cooler, but 14 degrees

:07:35. > :07:37.inland. Here is the summary. Good night.

:07:38. > :07:42.the Outlook with Nick Miller. Neuer-macro don't worry, this is not

:07:43. > :07:45.the repeat. It is live. This is the forecast you are more likely to see

:07:46. > :07:49.in January than May, but this is a cold night for the time of year. We

:07:50. > :07:54.have got some cloud coming into the West, stopping the temperature going

:07:55. > :07:58.down too far. It may produce light rain later in the night, maybe a

:07:59. > :08:03.rogue shower from patchy cloud in East Anglia. For most, dry, clear,

:08:04. > :08:08.temperatures are on the way down and will end up lower than this in the

:08:09. > :08:12.coldest rural spots by morning. -4 in rural Scotland in the coldest

:08:13. > :08:18.moral spots in southern England, so gardeners take note, frost for some

:08:19. > :08:22.of us are begins. What about the rest of the weekend? High pressure

:08:23. > :08:27.is here as it begins. You may think, great, settled weather, it does

:08:28. > :08:31.protect the south and east of the UK but Atlantique weather fronts coming

:08:32. > :08:37.to the north and west, giving some rain at times. First, for tomorrow,

:08:38. > :08:38.it is a fine start. Chilly, a lot of dry weather
