:00:17. > :00:18.We'll hear how similar fires could be prevented in future.

:00:19. > :00:23.Also tonight, the Bronte sisters were born there `

:00:24. > :00:30.soon you'll be able to have a look round inside their first home.

:00:31. > :00:39.And join me in Chesterfield where the town is out in force to

:00:40. > :00:43.celebrate. Further heavy showers expected in the short term. Some

:00:44. > :00:52.good news from midweek onwards. Join me for the latest.

:00:53. > :00:59.An investigation into a house fire in Sheffield which killed five

:01:00. > :01:02.members of the same family, has concluded it was likely to have

:01:03. > :01:05.been caused by an electrical fault, probably a faulty charging device.

:01:06. > :01:09.It's now a fortnight since the blaze broke out in the living room of the

:01:10. > :01:14.Since then, the police and fire service have been working

:01:15. > :01:25.It was described by the family as a tragedy beyond imagination. It is

:01:26. > :01:30.now exactly two weeks since fire ripped through this terraced house,

:01:31. > :01:37.killing three generations of the same family, including two young

:01:38. > :01:43.brothers, their baby sister, grandmother and aunt. Since then,

:01:44. > :01:46.South Yorkshire police and the fire service have been carrying out a

:01:47. > :01:52.detailed investigation to find out how it started. Today they told us

:01:53. > :01:56.the most likely cause was an electrical fault involving a

:01:57. > :01:59.charger. What we would like to get across to the members of the public

:02:00. > :02:06.is if you are going to have a charging device, follow the

:02:07. > :02:13.manufacturer's instructions and try to avoid leaving appliances on

:02:14. > :02:18.charged overnight. It is not the first time the fire service have

:02:19. > :02:28.warned of leaving chargers plugged in. Last year they began a campaign

:02:29. > :02:35.after fire gutted a house. Last week, funerals were held for the

:02:36. > :02:39.victims of the Wake Road fire. The family plays the police, paramedics

:02:40. > :02:46.and fire service for all they did that day. They also paid tribute to

:02:47. > :02:50.Shabbina Begum, who died after re`entering the house to try to save

:02:51. > :02:53.her grandchildren. Inquests will be held at a later date.

:02:54. > :03:01.Kate Bradbrook joins us now from Sheffield.

:03:02. > :03:10.Kate, it is shocking that a charger could create so much tragedy. What

:03:11. > :03:14.kind of charger was it? Fire investigators here say the fire was

:03:15. > :03:19.so intense, it caused so much damage, which is why it has taken so

:03:20. > :03:22.long to establish a cause. We know it was some kind of electrical

:03:23. > :03:29.charging device. We all have them at home. No more details on that as

:03:30. > :03:34.yet. Several messages have come out today from the fire service. One is

:03:35. > :03:38.to make sure that we're not charging them for any longer than stated.

:03:39. > :03:43.Another message is to make sure that we're using the charger that with

:03:44. > :03:47.the device. The one that was bought with it, and not an imitation. The

:03:48. > :03:53.third messages to make sure that everybody in the house knows to do

:03:54. > :03:58.if the smoke alarm goes off, knows a safe route out of the house. And to

:03:59. > :04:01.make sure the smoke alarm is working.

:04:02. > :04:05.Appeals for calm in Bradford ` we investigate claims that far

:04:06. > :04:12.right activists targeted mosques in the city.

:04:13. > :04:15.Police investigating a hit and run collision in Sheffield

:04:16. > :04:19.which killed a 14`year`old girl, have said it's just a matter of

:04:20. > :04:23.Jasmyn Chan died and her 12`year`old friend was

:04:24. > :04:26.seriously injured in the incident on Normanton Hill in the Intake area

:04:27. > :04:46.By the side of a road in Sheffield, flowers and toys. Witness to a young

:04:47. > :04:56.life cut short. Jasmyn Chan was struck by a small dark`coloured

:04:57. > :05:01.car. There are reports... Normanton Hill is a fast and busy road. The

:05:02. > :05:07.accident happened at a foot crossing on the way to a local park. The

:05:08. > :05:10.police have thanked everybody who has come forward with information

:05:11. > :05:16.about the accident, saying it is just a matter of time before they

:05:17. > :05:19.trace the car and the driver. The accident investigation marks cover

:05:20. > :05:23.some distance. They are not just confined to the road. One neighbour

:05:24. > :05:29.said she believed drivers regularly travel to fast. It should not have

:05:30. > :05:35.took this but obviously something has got to be done. They pick up

:05:36. > :05:39.speed with no idea that there is a concealed entrance, which is no

:05:40. > :05:46.excuse. If they were giving to the restrictions, that's fine. My main

:05:47. > :05:54.concern is obviously that... That the driver needs to come forward.

:05:55. > :05:57.Please give yourself up. At Jasmine's school today, lessons as

:05:58. > :06:02.normal, but also tribute and memories. Everybody will have a

:06:03. > :06:08.memory of her. Not everybody wants to cry, not everybody wants to put

:06:09. > :06:12.flours into the courtyard, some people want to be quiet. Today is

:06:13. > :06:17.about being sensitive to how people want to do with their grief and

:06:18. > :06:20.their sense of loss. Whatever the reasons why they didn't stop at the

:06:21. > :06:26.time, those are not relevant and a more. The facts are that a

:06:27. > :06:33.14`year`old girl has died. Her family, her friends are absolutely

:06:34. > :06:37.devastated. We need for that person to come forward and deal with the

:06:38. > :06:41.matter. What's done is done. The best we can do now is give semantics

:06:42. > :06:45.to the family and bring the matter to a proper conclusion. Some of

:06:46. > :06:49.Jasmine's friends gathered quietly to reflect this afternoon. One life

:06:50. > :06:52.has been lost, dozens more are changed forever.

:06:53. > :06:55.For many of Yorkshire's rural communities, they're a lifeline.

:06:56. > :06:58.But over the years the number of village post offices has been

:06:59. > :07:03.Postmasters say they're reaching crisis point, with fewer customers

:07:04. > :07:06.and revenue from the sales of stamps and tax discs dwindling.

:07:07. > :07:09.They were meeting for a national conference in Harrogate today,

:07:10. > :07:13.and have called on the Government to do much more to help them.

:07:14. > :07:28.Nigel has run this post office in Burrowbridge for 11 years. He has

:07:29. > :07:31.paid that Mackie is paid less than 2p per stamp and relies on a

:07:32. > :07:36.sidelining greetings cards to pay his wages. Today he was among this

:07:37. > :07:41.crowd of 200 postmasters at a national conference in Harrogate.

:07:42. > :07:45.The message: We are in crisis and need government help. Postmasters

:07:46. > :07:50.say they have lost a lot of government business over the past

:07:51. > :07:54.few years. For example, you can no longer pick up your benefit payments

:07:55. > :08:00.at the post office, nor can you take at National savings. You have not

:08:01. > :08:07.been able to buy a TV licence over the counter for a number of years.

:08:08. > :08:12.As for car tax, and postmasters have recently had the money they get paid

:08:13. > :08:18.per disc cut in half. Sealine may lose that as well. Many services are

:08:19. > :08:24.still available, but Nigel says it is not enough. Takes a lot of 2p

:08:25. > :08:30.is, for pensioners and temperance is to make a living. We have had

:08:31. > :08:34.promises from the Government. We want to work, give us the work and

:08:35. > :08:39.we will do it. Today's conference heard new work was not forthcoming.

:08:40. > :08:48.The franchise is not as profitable as it was. Business people look at

:08:49. > :08:53.the post office now and maybe it is not as attractive as it used to be.

:08:54. > :08:59.The government says taxpayers need to get value for money, and post

:09:00. > :09:03.offices should diversify. It is investing ?2 million in branches.

:09:04. > :09:06.They are helping them to branch out so they have much more retail space

:09:07. > :09:11.and better incomes into the future. We want post offices to remain at

:09:12. > :09:17.the heart of our communities. Nigel Lawson 's job. His branch is still

:09:18. > :09:20.busy body says help is needed and it is needed now. `` Nigel loves his

:09:21. > :09:22.job. A 25`year`old Bradford man must

:09:23. > :09:24.serve at least 15 years of his life sentence for the murder

:09:25. > :09:28.of his former girlfriend during a row in a caravan in the Swain House

:09:29. > :09:32.area of the city last November. The victim, Jade Watson,

:09:33. > :09:34.who had two children from a previous relationship, was strangled

:09:35. > :09:37.by James Gray in the caravan A judge said it seemed Ms Watson had

:09:38. > :09:43.told him she was starting a relationship with another man who

:09:44. > :09:45.could offer her Anita Ratch `

:09:46. > :09:50.who's originally from Hungary ` Now a body's been discovered

:09:51. > :09:54.in woodland in Bingley. Her death is not being treated

:09:55. > :09:58.as suspicious. A former Mayor of Scarborough who

:09:59. > :10:01.died 15 years ago, has been Police say Peter Jaconelli `

:10:02. > :10:06.a long`time friend of the disgraced Jimmy Savile ` would have been

:10:07. > :10:09.questioned over alleged child sex Scarborough Borough Council this

:10:10. > :10:12.afternoon voted to remove Community leaders

:10:13. > :10:20.in Bradford say there's been an attempt to deliberately provoke

:10:21. > :10:23.a violent reaction amongst The allegations follow an incident

:10:24. > :10:41.at the weekend when a gang of men It looks like any group of friends

:10:42. > :10:46.posing on a day out. But the rest of the snapshot showed this was a more

:10:47. > :10:51.sinister trip. They went to two mosques in Bradford and confronted

:10:52. > :10:54.anybody they could find, producing Bibles. They certainly weren't not

:10:55. > :11:02.Christian missionaries. In fact, this is who they are. Britain first

:11:03. > :11:07.is an obscure, tiny far right political party, trying to look like

:11:08. > :11:11.a paramilitary group. They have posted a video showing activists

:11:12. > :11:14.training in unarmed combat. They boast they are preparing to defend

:11:15. > :11:18.the British nation from the rise of Islam. In Bradford, they have a

:11:19. > :11:24.different view of just what these people were trying to do. Police say

:11:25. > :11:27.they can take any action. There was they can take any action. There was

:11:28. > :11:32.no physical assault, no criminal damage. The Council of mosques in

:11:33. > :11:37.Bradford say this was a deliberate act of provocation, trying to

:11:38. > :11:43.provoke a violent reaction. Fortunately, nobody did. I think

:11:44. > :11:49.they want publicity. They want a reaction. They want an aggressive

:11:50. > :11:53.reaction. I am making an appeal to all young people, and all the

:11:54. > :12:02.Muslims, to be calm and be peaceful and stay united. We can tackle an

:12:03. > :12:08.evening if we are united. Next stop, here. The campaign headquarters of a

:12:09. > :12:12.Labour councillor. They walked in here as volunteers were putting

:12:13. > :12:16.together campaign literature. There was intimidation and aggression and

:12:17. > :12:21.they weren't being provocative. But we are better than that. We told

:12:22. > :12:22.them to leave the building. Police are considering what happened with a

:12:23. > :12:32.view to see weather they can take view to see weather they can take

:12:33. > :12:37.any further action. Before seven o'clock, the spy rights

:12:38. > :12:38.reached new heights. Join me in Chesterfield where the party is just

:12:39. > :12:50.getting started. It's a little village

:12:51. > :12:53.on the outskirts of Bradford whose claim to fame is that is

:12:54. > :12:56.the birthplace of the Brontes. But for years the building

:12:57. > :12:59.in Thornton where the literary sisters and their brother were born,

:13:00. > :13:01.has suffered neglect. Most recently the cottage was

:13:02. > :13:04.used as bedsits before being But now its future has

:13:05. > :13:17.a more literary bent, as It is a modest house in a regular

:13:18. > :13:21.street. But this three`bedroom property was the birthplace of three

:13:22. > :13:30.extra ordinary sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte. The former

:13:31. > :13:33.Prunty birthplace... It had been rendered as bedsits but a few years

:13:34. > :13:40.ago it was bought at auction for ?120,000. It has since been

:13:41. > :13:45.converted into a cafe but some say it should be a museum. It was an

:13:46. > :13:51.argument that was put to me when we initially purchased the property. I

:13:52. > :13:56.strongly disagreed. The Brontes need to be made a bit more current. You

:13:57. > :14:01.only visit a museum once, twice, three times. What we are trying to

:14:02. > :14:09.do is get people to visit on a regular basis. Ultimately that will

:14:10. > :14:14.be in the interest of the branches. For market is a cool and trendy

:14:15. > :14:19.environment keeping with the building's original character. This

:14:20. > :14:25.is the main attraction. The Bronte sisters were born in front of this

:14:26. > :14:29.fireplace. Will it attract tourists? I think these places should be kept

:14:30. > :14:36.as real as they were. A daily next door would be fine but not in the

:14:37. > :14:39.house itself. `` delicatessen. Would've been better if Bradford

:14:40. > :14:43.Council had bought it when they had the chance. If the food is good and

:14:44. > :14:48.it offers something to the committee, I cannot see a major

:14:49. > :14:53.problem. It is a good thing. Could it be a rival for the Bronte Museum?

:14:54. > :14:56.I don't think so because the places are so close together that it makes

:14:57. > :15:05.it more viable for visitors wanting to come here and maybe carry out a

:15:06. > :15:10.sort of pilgrimage. It is more for them to see. The cafe deli is

:15:11. > :15:20.expected to be open for business next month.

:15:21. > :15:21.How wonderful. No rain at booth presence denied? Not as much, at

:15:22. > :15:23.least! In football,

:15:24. > :15:25.York City will finally get their League Two play`off push underway

:15:26. > :15:27.at Bootham Crescent tonight. The first leg tie against

:15:28. > :15:30.Fleetwood Town was delayed, then called off on Saturday after

:15:31. > :15:33.heavy rain waterlogged the pitch. The re`arranged fixture kicks`off

:15:34. > :15:36.at 7.45 and you can listen to full Staying with the play`offs, and in

:15:37. > :15:43.League One Rotherham travelled to Deepdale to face their semi`final

:15:44. > :15:45.opponents, Preston, on Saturday. The Millers finished just

:15:46. > :15:49.a point ahead of their opponents during the regular season,

:15:50. > :16:02.so many expected a close game. Rotherham entered the play`offs

:16:03. > :16:05.hoping to achieve their second consecutive promotion. They

:16:06. > :16:09.dominated the first half and deserved the lead. Alex Revell

:16:10. > :16:17.picked up possession at the halfway line, chested the ball past his

:16:18. > :16:21.marker and calmly finished. Preston had struggled to create openings. It

:16:22. > :16:26.took this spectacular strike from their top scorer, Joel Garner, to

:16:27. > :16:34.level the match. Rotherham almost retook the lead when Lee's ``

:16:35. > :16:41.fracking Tim was put through. `` Les Frecklington. The Preston keeper

:16:42. > :16:46.denied them again in the final minute. If rather win the return leg

:16:47. > :16:54.on Thursday, they will be in the league one final week on Thursday at

:16:55. > :16:57.Wembley. There were also championship

:16:58. > :17:07.play`offs in rugby union at the weekend. They have the home leg next

:17:08. > :17:15.up. Leeds Carnegie beat London Welsh. They strike came in the 35th

:17:16. > :17:16.minute. It finished 38`31. Leeds and Rotherham play the return leg on

:17:17. > :17:21.Saturday. In boxing, congratulations to

:17:22. > :17:24.the British and European title holder, Kid Galahad, who added

:17:25. > :17:27.the Commonwealth super`bantamweight belt to his growing collection

:17:28. > :17:30.after a comfortable win over Galahad was too strong for

:17:31. > :17:33.Fred Mundraby in his home city of Sheffield on Saturday,

:17:34. > :17:36.the Ausse didn't come out of his It marks a great eight months

:17:37. > :17:41.for Galahad, who's won all three belts since picking up the British

:17:42. > :17:52.title in September last year. I've covered three quarters of the

:17:53. > :17:57.world in eight months. I'm getting better, I am learning. Hopefully

:17:58. > :18:02.within the next 1218 months I am fighting for a world title. He

:18:03. > :18:11.really piled the pressure on. He did well to stand up.

:18:12. > :18:13.Cycling, and Otley's Lizzie Armistead pulled

:18:14. > :18:16.out of the Women's Tour before the final stage yesterday `

:18:17. > :18:18.she'd been trying to battle on despite struggling with illness.

:18:19. > :18:21.Meanwhile, in the Giro d'Italia, Rotherham's Ben Swift, seen here in

:18:22. > :18:25.the blue helmet, was pipped at the finish line by Marcel Kittel for the

:18:26. > :18:31.It would have been Swift's first Grand Tour stage win, but the German

:18:32. > :18:35.rider timed his sprint to the line in Dublin to perfection.

:18:36. > :18:37.In the County Championship, Yorkshire are taking

:18:38. > :18:43.Yorkshire resumed on 310 for eight, and they've had a good morning.

:18:44. > :18:46.Liam Plunkett and Steven Patterson are enjoying a strong partnership

:18:47. > :18:54.They stopped for lunch having reached a score of

:18:55. > :19:07.While we are set here in the warm and the dry, we are missing a right

:19:08. > :19:09.good knees up, aren't we? We are. The crowds have certainly turned out

:19:10. > :19:12.to support Chesterfield. The Spireites are celebrating

:19:13. > :19:14.their promotion to League One, and being League Two champions with

:19:15. > :19:23.something of a street party. I am quite sad we have not been

:19:24. > :19:31.invited. The sun is shining now. It hasn't been all day. Chesterfield

:19:32. > :19:35.have got promotion into League One as champions of League two. It is

:19:36. > :19:40.exactly what they wanted at the start of the season. That was nine

:19:41. > :19:44.days ago. Today it is about giving the people of the town the chance to

:19:45. > :19:49.thank the team. They have been doing just that. We had a word with some

:19:50. > :19:57.of them early on. We have done it now. Let's get in division one next

:19:58. > :20:05.year and get into the championship were We are the champions! It is

:20:06. > :20:11.brilliant. We have won the lead. This is a fitting tribute to dad,

:20:12. > :20:19.who passed on last year. I am sure he is pushing every goal of the line

:20:20. > :20:24.up there. We won it three years ago. For it to come around again so soon,

:20:25. > :20:29.is really good. It has been a fantastic success in the end. It has

:20:30. > :20:33.taken a lot to get here. With less than one week to spare, Chesterfield

:20:34. > :20:36.knew there were going up. On the last day of the season they clinched

:20:37. > :20:42.the title. One of the most experienced players is Tommy Lee.

:20:43. > :20:48.You have seen a lot here. What that success mean to you? It is

:20:49. > :20:52.brilliant. We played some tough teams away from home and got the

:20:53. > :20:56.results we needed. We have done that all season. Credit to everyone, the

:20:57. > :21:03.staff, the players, for the way we bounced back. I don't want to put a

:21:04. > :21:06.damper on it, but you have been up with Chesterfield before and came

:21:07. > :21:12.straight back down. What gives you confidence it would be different

:21:13. > :21:17.this time? You have got to be competent. It did not pan out last

:21:18. > :21:23.time. I am sure the gaffer knows who he needs to bring in to strengthen

:21:24. > :21:28.the club. We will do all we can to do better. Let's bring in the

:21:29. > :21:34.gaffer. What plans do you have to keep Chesterfield up? The important

:21:35. > :21:38.thing is we enjoy the promotion. Promotions are very tough to get.

:21:39. > :21:44.They are hard earned. It takes a long time to get promoted. The

:21:45. > :21:49.players and staff can enjoy that. The rebuilding has been going on

:21:50. > :21:53.prolonged time. The important thing is to make ourselves better. That is

:21:54. > :22:01.not over a day or a week, or a month, it is over time. We have to

:22:02. > :22:06.keep improving and getting better. Do you have holidays as football

:22:07. > :22:11.league managers? You must work hard at your job in most things if you

:22:12. > :22:16.want to be successful. We have got a good club. UCB support today. The

:22:17. > :22:21.infrastructure. We have good players. Football is about good

:22:22. > :22:25.players. We have got a lot of them. Tommy has just given an interview.

:22:26. > :22:29.We think he's the best goalkeeper around. My job is to keep trying to
