:00:31. > :00:34.Boxing champion Nicola Adams talks to us ahead of her European
:00:35. > :00:37.title defence and she's given herself another challenge.
:00:38. > :00:41.I've got a saying at the moment, and I hashtagged it BBE and I'm striving
:00:42. > :00:44.to be Britain's Best Ever so I'm hoping I can do that this year.

:01:02. > :01:09.and I will be back later in the programme with all the details.
:01:10. > :01:13.First tonight, residents of a South Yorkshire village which has been
:01:14. > :01:17.plagued by a spate of car crashes are demanding urgent action from
:01:18. > :01:23.There have been 25 road accidents in Nether Haugh so far this year,
:01:24. > :01:25.including one as recently as yesterday
:01:26. > :01:29.when a driver escaped unharmed after crashing into a stone wall.
:01:30. > :01:33.People living in the village near Rotherham say the high number of
:01:34. > :01:44.Our reporter Kate Bradbrook is there for us this evening.
:01:45. > :01:51.This has been described by residents as the most dangerous in Yorkshire.
:01:52. > :01:56.Only yesterday, a car ploughed through the wall behind me ending up
:01:57. > :02:02.on its roof causing a lots of shock. Nobody was hurt. It crashes like
:02:03. > :02:07.this are becoming more and more frequent. There are calls for urgent
:02:08. > :02:11.action. This is becoming an all too common site for people living here
:02:12. > :02:18.in Nether Haugh. This picturesque village just outside Rotherham has
:02:19. > :02:23.seen 25 crashes this year alone. Including this one yesterday. I
:02:24. > :02:29.heard a big third and I knew I had an accident with a car. I walked out
:02:30. > :02:33.and saw in my neighbours garden a mini convertible that is on its
:02:34. > :02:37.roof. I jumped over the wall and open the door just to make sure they
:02:38. > :02:46.were fine. She was OK? She was upside down and his seat belt was
:02:47. > :02:50.still on. I had a word with her, she didn't have any pain so I gently
:02:51. > :02:55.took the belt off and eased out of the car. People living here say they
:02:56. > :03:00.are wary they won't be such a happy ending. I think they are hitting the
:03:01. > :03:06.curb of going too fast. Last night they discussed the issue and the
:03:07. > :03:11.message that the council was clear. Get your finger out before somebody
:03:12. > :03:19.is killed. Basically. They won't do a thing. Take a look at this
:03:20. > :03:26.picture. Earlier this year, we reported residents concerns. There
:03:27. > :03:29.had been 14 crashes by February. The council has installed warning signs
:03:30. > :03:35.and more recently new bollards. But for people like Ted Grayson who is
:03:36. > :03:42.too scared to users garden it is far too little and many crashes too
:03:43. > :03:46.late. I don't really have a life because I am awake all night
:03:47. > :03:51.wondering if this is the one that will hit the house. I then use my
:03:52. > :03:55.kitchen or half hours. As it come around this: It is easy to see how
:03:56. > :04:00.cars and leaving the road, crossing over and hitting the wall opposite.
:04:01. > :04:13.Residents say this even it means to be lowered. `` the speed limit. I am
:04:14. > :04:16.enjoying by Carl Battersby from Rotherham council. What is the
:04:17. > :04:23.council doing about it? We have some planned work on site for the
:04:24. > :04:27.slowdown markings. We're working with South Yorkshire police to look
:04:28. > :04:34.at a mobile camera and surveillance camera on site silicon record driver
:04:35. > :04:38.behaviour. We have limited resources. It's important target
:04:39. > :04:43.those two things that will be effective. We need to look at an
:04:44. > :04:48.option `` options stop residents are asking for a 20 mph speed limit and
:04:49. > :04:57.permanent cameras. Can you do that? The regulations for the permanent
:04:58. > :05:01.cameras are set nationally. In terms of speed limit, those have to be
:05:02. > :05:06.self enforcing so to change the speed limit who would have to
:05:07. > :05:09.enforce traffic calming measures. That is something we'll explore and
:05:10. > :05:13.see whether we think that a deal with the issue. Whenever we look at
:05:14. > :05:16.issues like this we have to make sure its evidence `based. We have to
:05:17. > :05:21.understand what has caused the accident is we can consider how best
:05:22. > :05:27.to deal with issues. People here say they are simply scared to walk on
:05:28. > :05:33.the payment `` pavement. Is that acceptable? No. We have a good
:05:34. > :05:37.record. We want an attractive environment for the residents stop
:05:38. > :05:40.what them to feel safe in their homes. We will work with the
:05:41. > :05:48.residents and the action group to make sure we address the issues as
:05:49. > :05:53.far as we are able. We will continue to follow this.

:09:05. > :09:10.the brain. It is one of the first that few instances in that area of
:09:11. > :09:15.anti`social behaviour. It is serious and we need to find out as much as
:09:16. > :09:19.we can about it. That is why we are appealing to the members of the
:09:20. > :09:22.public. The incident took place on Murphy 's seventh birthday. He
:09:23. > :09:26.wasn't injured but appears to have been affected. He has been very

:10:33. > :10:35.new lights are needed to secure the ground's future as a venue

:11:31. > :11:36.cash a cheque for ?11,000 of your money. You know anything about it?
:11:37. > :11:41.You say now. In that case, says the nice man, you need to phone your
:11:42. > :11:47.bank. The number with the back of your bank card. It is. You dial the
:11:48. > :11:51.number, safe in the knowledge you are talking to your bank. Only
:11:52. > :11:56.you're not. The nice man is a conman and he has kept your telephone line
:11:57. > :12:03.open so now you are actually talking to his accomplice. When the victim
:12:04. > :12:07.brings the number they have been contacting the fraudster. He then

:12:13. > :12:19.many from their bank account into what the fraudsters call a safe bank
:12:20. > :12:23.account. This couple have just lost all their life savings. They feel

:12:30. > :12:37.want a warm people of the con. There are no words. There are no words
:12:38. > :12:43.that can actually try to make people understand. We are both 66 in a few
:12:44. > :12:48.weeks. We have no money. It is our nest egg and we have worked hard for
:12:49. > :12:57.it. To be left with nothing, it is just hard. The couple hoped their
:12:58. > :12:59.bank, Lloyds, would reimburse them is because they themselves

:14:10. > :14:17.Chairman Tony Stewart says he's delighted with what Evans has done
:14:18. > :14:30.The chairman is a very ambitious man. When he took over the football
:14:31. > :14:40.club he talked about championship football. It took a year longer. But
:14:41. > :14:44.what a year he has. The infrastructure he has put in place
:14:45. > :14:50.and the team and has given everyone a chance. That is all we can ask. It
:14:51. > :14:54.is going to be a very exciting season next season. It never stops!
:14:55. > :14:57.Gold medals in gymnastics are hard to come by at
:14:58. > :15:01.the best of times but 18`year`old Nile Wilson from Leeds made history
:15:02. > :15:04.last weekend when he pocketed no fewer than five in one fell swoop.
:15:05. > :15:08.He came away from the Junior Championships in Bulgaria with top
:15:09. > :15:11.billing in the pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar events
:15:12. > :15:16.But that was his swan song as a junior and now senior competition
:15:17. > :15:32.Gentlemen, thank you for coming in. Nice to see you. This is only your
:15:33. > :15:36.second major event. You have got five gold medals. Look at those,
:15:37. > :15:41.fantastic. How hard it have to train? Pretty hard. Since I started
:15:42. > :15:46.when I was five years or they have been working towards these
:15:47. > :15:51.competitions. Major competitions are amazing to go there and experience.
:15:52. > :15:55.To come home with five medals is unbelievable. You are doing your
:15:56. > :15:59.rain levels at the moment. You train through your GCSEs, how would you
:16:00. > :16:06.find time to fit it all in? It is a struggle. My focus is on gymnastics
:16:07. > :16:10.but are trying to do school with it. I've seen my friends from school and
:16:11. > :16:16.all that kind of stuff. I work hard on both and I keep pushing. How many
:16:17. > :16:26.hours a week do you train? 30 hours a week. Gosh, that is a full`time
:16:27. > :16:30.job! Is that twice a day? I start at 12 o'clock every day and go one to
:16:31. > :16:40.eight. I go to school in the morning. How do you prepare from
:16:41. > :16:48.going from junior to senior? It is a big step up. The senior team is very
:16:49. > :16:52.strong. He has got to try and get on that team alongside Lewis Smith and
:16:53. > :16:56.the likes of him. It'll be a big step up. Hopefully, he will get
:16:57. > :17:02.selected for the Commonwealth Games. That is the shot of the
:17:03. > :17:10.moment. How big is gymnastics at the moment? Are they getting into it?
:17:11. > :17:15.Since the Olympic games, the profile of the sport has been lifted. Our
:17:16. > :17:22.club has moved facilities and we have gone to 1000 members. There are
:17:23. > :17:26.loads and loads of kids who want to get involved in gymnastics. A staff
:17:27. > :17:32.from babies right through to adults. You need a lot of courage to
:17:33. > :17:36.do some of the moves. You started when you were young. You still train
:17:37. > :17:41.at the club where you first started. I started leaves a five
:17:42. > :17:48.years old. Why did you start gymnastics? I was a clumsy child and
:17:49. > :17:54.always falling over. I have a lot of hospital ships with my head. My
:17:55. > :17:58.parents wanted me to learn how to fall and have awareness. This is one
:17:59. > :18:04.of the five medals you came home with. How ready do you feel for the
:18:05. > :18:06.next day? This week has given me great confidence and I think the
:18:07. > :18:12.selection for the Commonwealth Games in the next two weeks, I am ready
:18:13. > :18:19.for the challenge. I am ready to get stuck in. Let's know how you got on.
:18:20. > :18:26.Has he got what it takes to be a champion? Definitely. His main aim
:18:27. > :18:32.is Olympics in Rio. He has done fantastic so far I am very proud of
:18:33. > :18:35.him. Good luck to both of you. They are quite solid! What him, he will
:18:36. > :18:38.slip it in his pocket! Now to someone else with
:18:39. > :18:40.an impressive medal haul. Leeds Olympic gold medal boxer,
:18:41. > :18:42.Nicola Adams, starts the defence of her European
:18:43. > :18:46.title this weekend in Bucharest. It's the start of a busy year which
:18:47. > :18:51.sees her bidding to make history at the Commonwealth Games by winning
:18:52. > :18:54.the first gold in women's boxing. Then it's the World Championships,
:18:55. > :18:59.the one title that's eluded her. Tanya caught up with her at the
:19:00. > :19:14.team's training base in Sheffield. Having won that historic gold medal
:19:15. > :19:18.in London, 2013 was a chance for Nicola Adams to adjust to
:19:19. > :19:24.a whole new way of life. It is really good being Nicola Adams
:19:25. > :19:27.now, going to premiers and collecting awards
:19:28. > :19:31.and meeting various celebrities, and doing really fun things I would
:19:32. > :19:35.never have been able to do unless I Now she is very much focused
:19:36. > :19:38.on boxing. She starts with this week's
:19:39. > :19:40.European Championships, then there is the Commonwealth Games
:19:41. > :19:44.and the World Championships. Winning medals,
:19:45. > :19:47.that is what I like doing. It is nice being back in
:19:48. > :19:54.the ring and doing what I do best. It would mean everything to
:19:55. > :19:57.me to have the full set. That is my aim,
:19:58. > :20:00.to get the full the set this year. If I stick to everything the coaches
:20:01. > :20:06.are saying, work hard, work at my faults and work on my good skills
:20:07. > :20:11.as well, I should be able to do it. That is the one,
:20:12. > :20:15.that is the one that is missing. Definitely,
:20:16. > :20:17.that is a really big one for me. I think,
:20:18. > :20:19.besides the Commonwealth Games, I had three silver medals
:20:20. > :20:23.in the World Championships There is always someone,
:20:24. > :20:40.I think there is always going to be somebody wanting my spot,
:20:41. > :20:42.wanting to take the gold. Every time I step in that ring there
:20:43. > :20:47.always wanting to beat me, they want I keep that in mind
:20:48. > :20:52.and it gives me the fuel to be I have got a saying at the moment,
