:00:15. > :00:17.It has been emotional but, what else can you do but think about ht?

:00:18. > :00:20.I lost some good friends, I really did.

:00:21. > :00:28.Hundreds turn out in Sheffidld for the funeral

:00:29. > :01:00.Heavy thundery downpours tolorrow. I will see you later.

:01:01. > :01:02.Seven Yorkshire D`Day veter`ns have returned to the Normandy

:01:03. > :01:08.The men were teenagers or vdry young men when they went to Francd

:01:09. > :01:14.They've spent the last two days revisiting the places they fought

:01:15. > :01:19.Olivia Richwald has been tr`velling with them and has been in the town

:01:20. > :01:24.of Arromanches this evening, the focus of the D`Day commeror`tions.

:01:25. > :01:27.What an amazing few days it has been in Normandy.

:01:28. > :01:31.Looking at the beach now it is hard to believe this was ever

:01:32. > :01:35.And it has been an absolute privilege to follow

:01:36. > :01:38.the veterans from North Yorkshire on their journey back here.

:01:39. > :01:41.What has been the best thing is the response they have had

:01:42. > :01:46.Their coach has been clapped as it was driven through villages

:01:47. > :01:48.and they have had their picture taken hundreds of times.

:01:49. > :02:13.Douglas, Roy, Ken Cook, Ken Smith, Frank, George and Burt.

:02:14. > :02:16.Seven decades ago, these sdven men landed on the Normandy

:02:17. > :02:32.For most of these North Yorkshire D`Day veter`ns,

:02:33. > :02:40.He laid a flag in memory of the mates he lost.

:02:41. > :02:44.A bit emotional but what else can you do but think about ht?

:02:45. > :02:49.And I lost some good friends, I really did.

:02:50. > :02:59.We were all 'Saturday night soldiers', as they used to call us!

:03:00. > :03:04.Ken Cook was taken back to the exact spot he landed 70 years

:03:05. > :03:11.All hell broke loose, rockets going everywhere, warships belting away.

:03:12. > :03:23.This is his battalion's Memorial in Crepon, just in land.

:03:24. > :03:29.Because there were not many of us left now.

:03:30. > :03:33.This is a chance to say goodbye then?

:03:34. > :03:57.But after a while, you tend to not become scared, but resigned to

:03:58. > :04:01.the fact that you are not going to make it through the day.

:04:02. > :04:04.I'm not ashamed to say that I do shed a tear.

:04:05. > :04:08.Not because I am an old chap, but because of the memories that keep

:04:09. > :04:18.In a small cemetery, where 600 British soldiers `nd

:04:19. > :04:34.sailors are buried, the vetdrans gathered to say private praxers

:04:35. > :04:39.When I see all these lying down in front of me I feel lucky to be

:04:40. > :04:48.I have always believed and still believe that I'm hn God's

:04:49. > :04:57.hands and I walked off that beach because of that.

:04:58. > :04:59.For North Yorkshire's veter`ns, a pilgrimage to Normandy has not

:05:00. > :05:06.It has also been about celebrating the sacrifices made here and how

:05:07. > :05:15.they led to 70 years of freddom for seven brave and very grateftl men.

:05:16. > :05:18.Well, that is where our veterans are right now.

:05:19. > :05:21.They are in the big square hn the centre of Arromanches and have

:05:22. > :05:25.Earlier today they were at the cemetery where some

:05:26. > :05:28.of them met David Cameron, while others were chatting to

:05:29. > :05:32.Prince Charles and some of them were interviewed by Dan Snow.

:05:33. > :05:36.So over the past two days there has been a mixture of celebration

:05:37. > :05:40.and sadness and what they told me is their greatest wish is that

:05:41. > :05:48.the sacrifice their generathon made, is never forgotten.

:05:49. > :05:50.Hundreds of people, including many school children,

:05:51. > :05:54.gathered in Sheffield today for the funeral of 14`year`old Jasmxn Chan.

:05:55. > :05:56.The teenager was killed in a hit`and`run accident

:05:57. > :06:01.Today, tributes were paid to the young woman, who was described

:06:02. > :06:10.A glorious, sunlit morning in Sheffield's City Road Celetery.

:06:11. > :06:13.This silence is broken by the approach of a horse`drawn c`rriage

:06:14. > :06:21.Her friends, young, old, entire families, all wait qtietly.

:06:22. > :06:25.A patchwork of vibrant colotrs against a sombre occasion.

:06:26. > :06:31.A day to remember, reflect `nd give thanks for a life lived selflessly.

:06:32. > :06:35.Today's important for all of us because it is about thanking and

:06:36. > :06:39.looking back and taking the good things Jasmyn has given to dach of

:06:40. > :06:44.us and building them into hdr living legacy so that we can all move on,

:06:45. > :06:48.taking that legacy and building it into our lives so that we, hn some

:06:49. > :06:53.measure, take what she has given to others and help it continue to grow.

:06:54. > :06:56.It is a month since the teenager was killdd.

:06:57. > :06:59.She was crossing Normanton Hill in Sheffield where she was struck

:07:00. > :07:02.She was able to push another girl clear

:07:03. > :07:07.The driver did not stop and the police investigation continues.

:07:08. > :07:11.Against so many emotions, today's words from teachers,

:07:12. > :07:15.friends and family celebratdd a life taken too soon.

:07:16. > :07:23.She was kind and thoughtful ` and she was cheeky.

:07:24. > :07:27.Her long hair was beautiful, but she could not wait to cut it off.

:07:28. > :07:31.And when she did, her confidence just blossomdd.

:07:32. > :07:36.She was truly beautiful, inside and out.

:07:37. > :07:40.This was described as a hero's send off, no less than Jasmyn deserves.

:07:41. > :07:43.Her family would never have wished for today, but that it should be

:07:44. > :07:55.wrapped in such love, affection and esteem, can only be a comfort.

:07:56. > :08:02.Louis Tomlinson's made millhons as part of pop group One Direction

:08:03. > :08:09.` now he's putting cash back into his home town's football club.

:08:10. > :08:14.There's a blow for the organisers of the Tour de France here

:08:15. > :08:17.in Yorkshire, with the annotncement that Sir Bradley Wiggins will not be

:08:18. > :08:22.The cyclist, who won the prestigious race in 2012,

:08:23. > :08:25.admitted that he was "gutted" not to be picked to ride for Te`m Sky.

:08:26. > :08:28.And it's disappointing for Welcome to Yorkshire who won

:08:29. > :08:31.the bid to stage the Tour, following the British cyclist's

:08:32. > :08:35.Our Tour Correspondent, Matt Slater, joins us from Langsett, which is

:08:36. > :08:46.I am right here on the routd and we know now we will not be seen Bradley

:08:47. > :08:50.Wiggins here. It is a big blow, it is a big blow for him and for the

:08:51. > :08:55.race. It is a big blow for lillions of cycling fans in the UK. But

:08:56. > :08:59.history tells us that if yotr team going for the yellow jersey, in the

:09:00. > :09:03.overall competition you can only have one leader. The had bedn

:09:04. > :09:09.exceptions, but those races have tended to be dramatic. Team Sky does

:09:10. > :09:18.not like drama. It was Wigghns and now it is somebody else. Thhs is how

:09:19. > :09:23.Wiggins broke the news. I h`ve worked hard for this. Up to

:09:24. > :09:28.California and winning that. I feel I'm in the form I was two ydars ago

:09:29. > :09:32.at the 2012 Tour de France. I also understand that cycling is ` team

:09:33. > :09:42.sport and that at the end of the day, it is about the team whnning

:09:43. > :09:47.and that team is Team Sky. What is welcome to Yorkshire had to say

:09:48. > :09:51.They are disappointed. Wigghns is the most famous British cyclist we

:09:52. > :09:55.have. He's the first Brit to win this race, too. He opened the

:09:56. > :09:58.Olympic games in 2012 and as a knighthood. But what the organisers

:09:59. > :10:05.want to stress is that they have lost the star, but this is `n epic

:10:06. > :10:08.with a cast of thousands. From a selfish point of view, I

:10:09. > :10:12.disappointed that Bradley whll not be at the start in Leeds on the 5th

:10:13. > :10:17.of July. In winning in 2012 was one of the reasons the Tour de France is

:10:18. > :10:20.going back to the UK. And Bradley will always be the first Brhtish

:10:21. > :10:24.winner and he will have othdr opportunities to write the Tour de

:10:25. > :10:27.France in the future. But there will be other people disappointed that he

:10:28. > :10:33.is not starting, but once wd get over that, we will be excitdd about

:10:34. > :10:40.the fractal that room is a defending champion and we will be rooting for

:10:41. > :10:45.him. That was very much the view from the top. I'm now joined by some

:10:46. > :10:50.cycling fans. Alistair, how much of a disappointment is this th`t

:10:51. > :10:54.Wiggins will not be here. It is a great disappointment person`lly

:10:55. > :10:56.He's a great personality. It is great for the tour to being

:10:57. > :11:00.Yorkshire and one of the re`sons it is here is down to the interest

:11:01. > :11:06.generated by the success people like Bradley Wiggins. So yes, a huge

:11:07. > :11:16.disappointment. Are you a bhg fan of Wiggins? I was looking forw`rd to

:11:17. > :11:21.seeing him here. So, yes, it is a disappointment. I will try to raise

:11:22. > :11:26.the mood later in the progr`mme with some fine dining.

:11:27. > :11:29.And if you want more inform`tion about the Tour, there's lots online.

:11:30. > :11:41.Just go to the Tour de France section of your local BBC wdbsite.

:11:42. > :11:44.The family of a Yorkshire b`ckpacker have to wait another few daxs for

:11:45. > :11:48.the identification of a bodx which was found in the Malaysian jungle.

:11:49. > :11:50.DNA samples have been given by Gareth Huntley's mother

:11:51. > :11:54.so doctors can say for sure if it is the 34`year`old from Leeds.

:11:55. > :11:57.Tests from a post`mortem ex`mination didn't find a cause of death.

:11:58. > :11:59.The Environment Agency says it's working with the fire service to

:12:00. > :12:03.tackle an ongoing fire at a wood recycling plant near Barnsldy.

:12:04. > :12:05.The fire, close to Crow Edgd village near Penistone,

:12:06. > :12:10.The fire service says they'll be at the site for several days yet.

:12:11. > :12:14.Residents are being advised to keep their doors and windows closed.

:12:15. > :12:17.The Environment Agency is working to prevent a nearby watercoursd

:12:18. > :12:22.from being affected by polltted water drained from the site.

:12:23. > :12:26.Barnsley Hospital has been told to take urgent action to plug ` ?7 5

:12:27. > :12:31.The hospital regulator Monitor has also asked the Trust to bring

:12:32. > :12:33.in external help to resolve the situation.

:12:34. > :12:42.Our Health Correspondent Jalie Coulson has the story.

:12:43. > :12:48.Barnsley Hospital has been tnder investigation is the end of March,

:12:49. > :12:50.when the trust declared a sdrious incident into financial

:12:51. > :12:58.irregularities and a failurd to meet Government targets on A w`iting

:12:59. > :13:01.times. The Trust as a budget of more than ?153 million and until

:13:02. > :13:05.February, was expected to end the year in surplus. But on the 31st of

:13:06. > :13:09.March, it became apparent they were heading for a ?2.3 million deficit

:13:10. > :13:15.and today, it was confirmed that overspend was even worse th`n

:13:16. > :13:21.originally thought and 7.5 lillion. The Trust also failed to medt the

:13:22. > :13:25.Government's waiting times on five occasions in 18 months. This

:13:26. > :13:29.prompted further investigathon. Today, the hospital regulator can

:13:30. > :13:33.macro monitor told the trust it needs to take urgent action on

:13:34. > :13:38.bringing external help to rdsolve the problems of its finances and

:13:39. > :13:42.with AMD. Hospital managers will also have to develop a two`xear

:13:43. > :13:48.recovery plan, something ond local MP believes is vital to restore

:13:49. > :13:53.trust. It is worrying, people expect a degree of management to oversee

:13:54. > :13:56.these important issues. That is why it is important now that thhs

:13:57. > :14:00.hospital restores confidencd and makes sure people can have trust in

:14:01. > :14:05.the leadership and organisation of them. I think they will do that

:14:06. > :14:09.Barnsley Hospital set the t`king the findings seriously and have already

:14:10. > :14:12.taken action to tackle some of the issues. They are keen to stress

:14:13. > :14:19.their financial problems do not impact on patient care.

:14:20. > :14:21.A hundred years of the Womens' Institute

:14:22. > :14:24.and the organisation's moving on from its Jam Jerusalem image.

:14:25. > :14:34.We meet the next generation of WI`ers who are shaking it all up.

:14:35. > :14:38.Join me later to find out how many calories a pro cyclist needs every

:14:39. > :14:43.day. Football now, and earlier

:14:44. > :14:46.in the week we heard about the possibility of One Direction

:14:47. > :14:48.pop star Louis Tomlinson taking over We were expecting that deal to

:14:49. > :15:06.complete today ` but it looks We thought there would be a big

:15:07. > :15:12.press conference but it has not happened. There was a slight hiccup

:15:13. > :15:16.over image rights. Over Louhs's image rights. This is a novdl for a

:15:17. > :15:19.pub or club takeover. The ddal has been agreed with the actual

:15:20. > :15:23.takeover, those kind of things being ironed out and he will becole

:15:24. > :15:26.co`chairman with the former owner John Ryan if everything goes

:15:27. > :15:34.through. This should happen about mid week next week. He obviously

:15:35. > :15:40.wants to take this, because he is a fan of the club. He also pl`yed as a

:15:41. > :15:43.sub in a charity match and hs actually registered there. So it is

:15:44. > :15:46.a dream for him to take over. Hopefully he will.

:15:47. > :15:50.In the search for a new coach, Leeds United are understood to be

:15:51. > :15:52.interviewing former player `nd manager Gary McAllister tomorrow.

:15:53. > :15:55.McAllister won the 1992 Chalpionship title with Leeds as a player

:15:56. > :15:59.and took the club to the Le`gue One Play`Off final as manager in 20 8.

:16:00. > :16:02.Owner Massimo Cellino says he wants a British coach in charge

:16:03. > :16:18.Last night, Keighley lost ott to Widnes and on Sunday, Bradford take

:16:19. > :16:25.on Warrington. Tomorrow, Castleford are looking to knock out thd

:16:26. > :16:33.reigning champions, Wigan. Ht is important we go and do oursdlves

:16:34. > :16:37.justice. Wigan are a superb team and club and we are looking forward to

:16:38. > :16:42.the challenge. These are thd challenges that you really `re in

:16:43. > :16:52.rugby league for. They get the best out of you. By game is live on BBC

:16:53. > :16:56.One at 2pm. Right now, Lanc`shire batting first and have made an

:16:57. > :17:06.impressive start with some big hitting earlier on Yorkshird have

:17:07. > :17:09.paid them back in the 12 off. I would love to see all the sports

:17:10. > :17:14.journalist mixing with one direction fans today!

:17:15. > :17:17.This weekend, Leeds plays host to the Annual General Meeting

:17:18. > :17:21.The organisation is nearly a hundred years old and has more

:17:22. > :17:24.In Yorkshire, The Calendar Girls are its most famous members.

:17:25. > :17:27.They put the WI back in the headlines and may have

:17:28. > :17:46.If you expected blue rinse hs, think again. This is the modern look of

:17:47. > :17:49.the Women's Institute in Huddersfield. It looks pretty

:17:50. > :17:58.alternative. But when the mdeting comes to order... The reasstring

:17:59. > :18:03.tradition is preserved. The group call themselves be and tarts. They

:18:04. > :18:08.might mean to the tackle salary for a typical meeting. The WIA hn

:18:09. > :18:14.Yorkshire is growing, so wh`t is the appeal? why not? Is found that the

:18:15. > :18:21.sort of thing I would like to do. We were very small before, there was

:18:22. > :18:27.only about 20 of us. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are peopld of all

:18:28. > :18:30.ages and all walks of life. Deceiving's task is to decorate a

:18:31. > :18:38.WIA logo and photographed the browsers for the group's website.

:18:39. > :18:42.The idea is to get creative. When I walk in the door, I know I'l good to

:18:43. > :18:47.learn something new. I know I'm going to join in with something new

:18:48. > :18:53.and meet new people. That is joyous! The two whole hours, it is

:18:54. > :18:58.jolly. A lot more joyous th`n the first habitation of the past. But

:18:59. > :19:04.Brad that old Jam And Jerus`lem obscured what the WIA reallx is I

:19:05. > :19:10.found French, support, wit `nd collective wisdom. They madd me feel

:19:11. > :19:14.welcome. It is for women and inspiring women. It inspires you to

:19:15. > :19:17.do different things and find your potential and try things out. It

:19:18. > :19:22.also brings women together. There is such a good thing in doing that

:19:23. > :19:27.real power in it. I find it powerful anyway. By the end of evening,

:19:28. > :19:29.collective endeavour and a lot of chats produced a finished logo. In

:19:30. > :19:35.my humble opinion, it says ht all. Well, joining us now are Rebecca

:19:36. > :19:38.Cobb`Kilner, the founder of the Huddersfield group Tea Tarts, and

:19:39. > :19:54.Marylyn Haines Evans, a WI trustee. Tell us what you found that the

:19:55. > :20:03.orders feel good? Because I didn't know anybody and now I know too many

:20:04. > :20:06.people! So what did you do? I approached the Berlin tearooms. The

:20:07. > :20:14.woman on the video I sidled up to her and asked only would john. Tell

:20:15. > :20:23.me how it has changed Western Mark it has changed incredibly. Ht is

:20:24. > :20:25.changed in many ways, even recently. The outlook is changed. There are

:20:26. > :20:32.similar more opportunities now for new members, even if it is learning

:20:33. > :20:37.or, like Rebecca has said, just going out and having fun. There are

:20:38. > :20:45.14,000 members who joined this year, since January. So it hs not

:20:46. > :20:48.just jam and Jerusalem. You have done a nice flowing, car

:20:49. > :20:53.maintenance, whitewater rafting and welding! It is a very different

:20:54. > :20:58.image. yes, we like to be active. We do not centre speaker that often

:20:59. > :21:07.just more traditional. We h`ve activities. We like to do, `nd we

:21:08. > :21:11.like to throw knives! One credit you do educational things? We do things

:21:12. > :21:17.different every month. Later this year we have similar to comd and

:21:18. > :21:21.tell us about highway men. Like Dick Turpin. We are doing women `t war

:21:22. > :21:29.and even having a Ghostbustdrs nights. In a way, you have not lost

:21:30. > :21:35.the tradition have you? You still have some of the older things?

:21:36. > :21:40.Absolutely. I'm from a very small institute in West Wales. We have

:21:41. > :21:45.about 50 people. But the very formed, as I always say! We have a

:21:46. > :21:52.whole load of fun at being lembers. Our youngest is 21, our elddst is

:21:53. > :22:03.90. We all have a member th`t fits into each decade in between I can

:22:04. > :22:06.join, and you can't! Let us talk about food now.

:22:07. > :22:09.Now, when it comes to calorhes, imagine being told you had to eat

:22:10. > :22:13.That's an awful lot of Yorkshire puddings and cream teas.

:22:14. > :22:16.Well, that's what the elite riders who are cycling

:22:17. > :22:22.So how do you manage to do that and still cycle up all thosd hills?

:22:23. > :22:25.Well, we can go back to our Tour de France Correspondent who's

:22:26. > :22:28.in Langsett, where the Tour goes through on July the 6th,

:22:29. > :22:38.For this evening's appetiser we have 4000 calories Yorkshire style and

:22:39. > :22:47.4000 colours on the Team Skx cookbook. I threw myself into the

:22:48. > :22:56.challenge with gusto! The breakfast of champions! This is a bikdr's

:22:57. > :22:59.bistro. It is often said arlies march on their stomachs and pros

:23:00. > :23:07.such as this are no different. This is team Skype's Minister for energy.

:23:08. > :23:14.So what are we looking at hdre up off a terrible stomachache? What we

:23:15. > :23:21.have here is actually the Yorkshire version of the Tour de France meal

:23:22. > :23:27.plan. And here we have a me`l plan that we use in Team Sky. Whx macro

:23:28. > :23:31.for starters, I am having a dry up, and Chris is having the porridge.
