:02:14. > :02:19.at Hillsborough. Whereas sole of that will be provided from

:02:20. > :02:29.government funding, the school will be expected to provide some as well.

:02:30. > :02:34.If provision does not incre`se, potentially it could happen

:02:35. > :02:38.unnecessarily. That uncertahnty is felt across North Yorkshire. The

:02:39. > :02:43.council say they do not know the total cost but the money from

:02:44. > :02:52.central government falls short. It is a picture repeated in Br`dford.

:02:53. > :02:57.Barnsley will be over ?200,000 short. In Leeds, individual schools

:02:58. > :03:00.are having to pay the cost of individual upgrades out of the cost

:03:01. > :03:04.of their own budgets. The headteacher says they will hope but

:03:05. > :03:12.others are facing an unfair challenge. The school needs a new

:03:13. > :03:19.extractor fan and should not be positioned the school was on to find

:03:20. > :03:24.out at this stage of the ye`r, ?25,000 in the budget they did not

:03:25. > :03:28.know about. As in Yorkshire, the totals in Leeds are being worked out

:03:29. > :03:31.but the council says it will be substantial and will hit other

:03:32. > :03:37.areas. The Department of edtcation have actually said that if the money

:03:38. > :03:42.they have given us is not stfficient we should use our maintenance

:03:43. > :03:46.budget, so how do we go to ` school and say you cannot have your knew

:03:47. > :03:54.reform wonder when this is supposed to be a fully funded scheme. While

:03:55. > :03:57.headteacher of some councils say they support the principle of free

:03:58. > :04:03.school meals it's just that practicalities come with a price

:04:04. > :04:07.tag. David Ward is the Liberal Ddmocrat

:04:08. > :04:11.MP for Bradford East and I `sked him why Bradford Council is fachng a

:04:12. > :04:20.?1.2 million shortfall in ftnding a Liberal Democrat policy. We have put

:04:21. > :04:25.?2.5 billion in the pupil premium. We have now put ?1 billion hnto free

:04:26. > :04:28.school meals for up to seven`year`olds and have done a huge

:04:29. > :04:36.amount for childcare allowing people to go out to work, and now we have

:04:37. > :04:42.this great situation with over 20,000 receiving free school meals,

:04:43. > :04:46.and the multi`billion pound organisation is saying it is short

:04:47. > :04:58.of the money. It is a very worthwhile and fantastic boost. . Is

:04:59. > :05:05.that, because poor families are already being subsidised? M`ny do

:05:06. > :05:09.not claim for it and are entitled, and we have been hearing about this

:05:10. > :05:13.cost of living prices, but the people really struggling or those

:05:14. > :05:20.just above the benefit label who are a a title anything. They can no

:05:21. > :05:25.ensure their children can gdt a free school meal and it can save up to

:05:26. > :05:31.?400 for a family. The union says there is not enough staff or

:05:32. > :05:37.kitchens to make this possible. It may be difficult but be cre`tive and

:05:38. > :05:41.find a way of doing this. Plenty of schools across the country `re

:05:42. > :05:46.concerned about this and parents are concerned it will not happen in

:05:47. > :05:51.three months' time. Can you ensure that every child gets a fred hot

:05:52. > :05:55.school meal by September? That is the aim and they have been told to

:05:56. > :05:59.try to deliver on it and if not know it may be later. We are talking now

:06:00. > :06:06.about the extension of free school meals to any families who m`y not be

:06:07. > :06:12.on benefits, just above the benefit level, but this is a great boost and

:06:13. > :06:18.a great news story. Thank you. An Azerbaijani businessmen has

:06:19. > :06:29.completed his takeover of Sheffield Wednesday. The deal brings to an end

:06:30. > :06:32.the three`year period as Owls chairman and order. We knew this was

:06:33. > :06:38.on the cards but tonight thd deal has been done.

:06:39. > :06:42.As far as I can recall it h`s been talked about on and off for almost a

:06:43. > :06:49.year but it seems the deal has been done. The outgoing owner, it is fair

:06:50. > :06:54.to say when he bought the club he delay was the night in shinhng

:06:55. > :06:58.armour. Sheffield Wednesday were in debt, in serious trouble and even

:06:59. > :07:02.with court action against them. The team went back to the champhonship

:07:03. > :07:16.and they have had a solid sdason so far. Tonight, a picture emerged of

:07:17. > :07:25.him alongside the man he has sold two.

:07:26. > :07:31.He has said he wanted to invest in an English cup for a long thme. In a

:07:32. > :07:39.statement he said I am a hugely ambitious man. I promised the

:07:40. > :07:46.supporters I will act extrelely hard to bring the

:07:47. > :07:57.He is also the owner of a French club. Now, the fans want to know how

:07:58. > :08:07.much money he has to spend. Has any reaction from the club. Not really.

:08:08. > :08:11.A brief statement asked the fans for patients. Obviously this matter has

:08:12. > :08:16.to be ratified by the FA. As soon as that process is complete, they hope

:08:17. > :08:20.the new owner will be able to spell out his vision.

:08:21. > :08:35.It does seem a new area is `bout to dawn at Hillsborough. Later on look

:08:36. > :08:44.North. We get on board with York's new fleet of electric buses.

:08:45. > :08:48.Six men who planned to bomb a rally by the English Defence

:08:49. > :08:50.League in Dewsbury have lost their appeals against jail sentences

:08:51. > :08:57.750 people were in the town centre during an EDL rally two years ago.

:08:58. > :09:00.The men who are all from thd West Midlands carried a bomb, knives

:09:01. > :09:03.and sawn`off shotguns in wh`t was described as a long`planned ?revenge

:09:04. > :09:07.But the rally had ended before they arrived,

:09:08. > :09:11.and they were stopped by ch`nce by police as they returned home

:09:12. > :09:13.A former club secretary at the Sheffield Wednesday football club

:09:14. > :09:18.Richard Chester, who left three years before the stadium disaster

:09:19. > :09:22.which killed 96 Liverpool f`ns, has told the new inquests he believes it

:09:23. > :09:24.wouldn't have happened if the original senior match

:09:25. > :09:26.commander hadn't been replaced at the last minute.

:09:27. > :09:28.Chief Superintendent David Duckenfield assumed command from a

:09:29. > :09:31.previous officer more experhenced in crowd control less than thrde weeks

:09:32. > :09:35.The inquest?s coroner Lord Justice Goldring has previously said

:09:36. > :09:52.the jury might consider whether that had been "a sensible decision."

:09:53. > :09:59.It hit business. An independent analyst says the figures prove very

:10:00. > :10:07.little. I don't have the figures, but I have doubts about the figures.

:10:08. > :10:13.The weather was the worst whnter we had seen in 100 years. It's

:10:14. > :10:15.inevitable. It's what peopld do with those figures and how they lake them

:10:16. > :10:21.work to sell a particular story Concerns have been raised

:10:22. > :10:23.about a possible Islamic agdnda It follows OFSTED inspections at

:10:24. > :10:27.21 schools in Birmingham following claims that hardline Muslims were

:10:28. > :10:30.trying to impose their views. And it's also raised questions

:10:31. > :10:33.about whether governors in Bradford Our correspondent Jeremy Cooke

:10:34. > :10:51.joins us live from Bradford. Attention centres on the east of the

:10:52. > :11:06.city, home to a large Asian population. Here, the concern is

:11:07. > :11:14.there may have been some sort of Islamic agenda. We've seen linutes

:11:15. > :11:19.of Governor's minutes. The spiritual meet needs of students was not met.

:11:20. > :11:24.There were plans to segregate boys from girls. Staff here were

:11:25. > :11:29.encouraged to visit Parkview School in Birmingham, which we now know was

:11:30. > :11:33.at the centre of the Trojan horse enquiry there. Does it add tp to an

:11:34. > :11:47.Islamic agenda? There is a co`ordinated attdmpt by a

:11:48. > :11:52.small group of unrepresentative people whose views are not shared by

:11:53. > :11:57.most of the Muslim parents that I talk to. To gain gay `` gre`ter

:11:58. > :12:10.control. What's been the response? There is

:12:11. > :12:18.strong and flat denials of `ny Islamic agenda here in Bradford

:12:19. > :12:27.The governors said his sole interest is in raising standards.

:12:28. > :12:38.Is there an Islamic agenda here Absolutely not.

:12:39. > :12:48.We don't want children, irrdspective of their background, to compromise

:12:49. > :12:57.their fate. If you had ten Luslim kids in the school, what about them?

:12:58. > :13:01.We meet their needs to. Bradford councillor stressing the

:13:02. > :13:03.relationship is crucial and that it will act quickly to step in if that

:13:04. > :13:43.relationship is cause for concern. The 15 vehicles will run entirely

:13:44. > :13:45.on rechargeable batteries The service is officially l`unched

:13:46. > :13:50.tomorrow from a new Park and Ride But, because they're electrhc,

:13:51. > :13:53.they're very quiet In the car park where we've just

:13:54. > :14:13.tested it, it's very clear but in heavy traffic or in slow moving

:14:14. > :14:16.traffic we wouldn't particularly Yes, because I can hear it

:14:17. > :14:21.as it's moving away, so I can tell you when I've just

:14:22. > :14:25.missed the bus I wanted to catch. It's not just passengers getting

:14:26. > :14:28.used to the ?300,000 vehiclds. This is a new experience

:14:29. > :14:31.for the driver and the staff who If this were a diesel bus this is

:14:32. > :14:36.where the grimy old engine would be. Instead,

:14:37. > :14:39.it's really clean in there ` lots of wires, two big lithium b`tteries

:14:40. > :14:42.over the wheels, and then the power goes in around the corner, `lmost

:14:43. > :14:45.like you are repowering a c`ravan. A hour charge on here will

:14:46. > :14:49.deliver 50 miles on the road. A longer charge would doubld

:14:50. > :14:52.the distance and go some wax to reducing pollution on York's

:14:53. > :14:54.traffic`clogged streets. Closing Lendal Bridge earlidr this

:14:55. > :14:56.year also cut pollution It's hoped electric buses

:14:57. > :14:59.will be more popular. The air quality was a big f`ctor

:15:00. > :15:03.and we've actually got a sttdy that says 80% of York's bus fleet could `

:15:04. > :15:07.is suitable ` for electric buses. That's something we

:15:08. > :15:09.want to work towards. Air quality is something th`t's

:15:10. > :15:12.really important to us here in York. It's for that reason we went

:15:13. > :15:15.down the electric route. And these buses aren't

:15:16. > :15:16.a foreign import. They were built down the ro`d

:15:17. > :15:20.at Sherburn in Elmet by Opt`re, who hope the York scheme will lead

:15:21. > :15:22.to other orders. The heart is beating here

:15:23. > :15:25.in Yorkshire but the expansion around the world is

:15:26. > :15:28.absolutely guaranteed by our success Another electric bus leaves

:15:29. > :15:32.the factory heading for York. All 15 will be up and running

:15:33. > :15:36.by the middle of June. If it's a success,

:15:37. > :15:53.many more may follow. There's a new training programme in

:15:54. > :16:04.Gulf called the motion factor. Does it work? Join me in a few moments.

:16:05. > :16:20.And World Cup fever has hit in Sheffield.

:16:21. > :16:25.Leeds United have been ordered to pay back a loan of ?950,000 to

:16:26. > :16:33.The winding up petition against the club remains live

:16:34. > :16:36.and was adjourned at a high court hearing this afternoon.

:16:37. > :16:39.They have until 23rd June to pay back the money.

:16:40. > :16:41.Until they do their bank account remains frozen.

:16:42. > :16:45.That means they can't pay the players.

:16:46. > :16:47.Rotherham United have broken their club transfer record after signing

:16:48. > :16:54.The 22`year`old striker started out at neighbours Chesterfidld.

:16:55. > :16:57.He's signed a two`year deal and becomes the Millers fifth

:16:58. > :17:06.signing since their promotion to the Championship.

:17:07. > :17:11.Day three of the County chalpionship at Nottinghamshire has been

:17:12. > :17:26.interrupted by weather. Nottingham show were bowled out.

:17:27. > :17:28.Four years ago Sophie Carrigill from Wakefield was

:17:29. > :17:32.Then a near`fatal car acciddnt left her paralysed from the waist down.

:17:33. > :17:35.But after months in hospital Sophie was determined to get back

:17:36. > :17:37.into sport and took up wheelchair baskdtball.

:17:38. > :17:41.Now she's set to lead Team GB in the World Championships in Canada.

:17:42. > :17:54.You have a really remarkabld story. Your enthusiasm is something to

:17:55. > :18:00.behold. What do you hope to achieve? For the short`term goal it hs to be

:18:01. > :18:05.successful in the world Championships. But for me, something

:18:06. > :18:12.I always have in the back of my mind is to be a Paralympic. I want to

:18:13. > :18:21.look forward to Rio. You've made a decent start. You are well `nd truly

:18:22. > :18:30.established aren't you? Yes, the bronze medal is from the Europeans

:18:31. > :18:35.last year. Your identity pl`ying `` you've only been playing basketball

:18:36. > :18:41.for three years. How did yot feel when you got a call. That w`s an

:18:42. > :18:47.amazing just to be selected was a great achievement. Then to be asked

:18:48. > :18:53.to be captain, is such a grdat honour. I didn't see it comhng at

:18:54. > :19:01.all. I hope I can prove to be the right choice and to lead thd team

:19:02. > :19:08.and motivate them. You had ` very bad accident when he was 16. At

:19:09. > :19:13.quite a transitional age. To find you are paralysed from the weights

:19:14. > :19:22.down, how did you cope? It was difficult. Being a teenager and

:19:23. > :19:29.becoming independent, the accident happening, you have to be strong and

:19:30. > :19:35.mature. If I wasn't, then I would have gone on a long slow downhill. I

:19:36. > :19:40.know your parents and your brother had been very important. I couldn't

:19:41. > :19:50.have done it without them. They are amazing. It's sometimes fed them.

:19:51. > :20:00.Has sport helps you to come to terms with being in a wheelchair? Yes I

:20:01. > :20:04.first started playing wheelchair all with lead spiders and since then it

:20:05. > :20:08.has been a passion of mine. I've fallen in love with it. It's just

:20:09. > :20:17.what I needed. Well done. They do say that golf is ond of the

:20:18. > :20:20.most exasperating games to learn. And, apparently,

:20:21. > :20:25.psychology has a big part to play. Well, Andy Murray has just taken

:20:26. > :20:29.on a new coach to help with that So we thought Harry might nded

:20:30. > :20:32.a helping hand, too. At Leeds Golf Centre a new programme

:20:33. > :20:37.is being tried out which looks Everyone who plays golf with me

:20:38. > :20:45.tells me I'm temperamental, which But this new concept,

:20:46. > :20:50.the fluid motion factor, might just When Rory McIlroy stands on the tee,

:20:51. > :21:03.in his DNA is a straight drhve. When I stand on the tee, I think,

:21:04. > :21:07.I mustn't hit the ball left or So this course doesn't tell me

:21:08. > :21:12.my grip, my stance or So, think about when you've maybe

:21:13. > :21:19.putted, on the putting green, five feet away in the middle, and you've

:21:20. > :21:24.got this putt for your handhcap What are you thinking

:21:25. > :21:35.within five feet? On this course you will be learning

:21:36. > :21:39.and how to use the pitfalls to help you play better golf.

:21:40. > :21:44.Also, after that, we can thdn go into the short game and to putting

:21:45. > :21:48.and get you into understandhng the actual programme even ftrther

:21:49. > :21:51.and, hopefully, improving that golf a little bit more.

:21:52. > :21:54.What this programme does, and what me and Dan are excited about,

:21:55. > :21:58.is that we can actually now explain to people why they hit bad shots.

:21:59. > :22:02.So, in my mind I'm not saying I must hit the green,

:22:03. > :22:13.So here I am coming up for my second shot.

:22:14. > :22:36.So, this for an amazing birdie. Birdie!

:22:37. > :22:43.That is only a snapshot of this course, but

:22:44. > :23:01.Absolutely genuine. I did not do that 86 times. It was good fun.

:23:02. > :23:04.The World Cup is finally upon us and all across Yorkshire fans are

:23:05. > :23:10.Who knows, but they've got some great support out in Brazil.

:23:11. > :23:13.The England band is following them out there with a special version

:23:14. > :23:16.Playing trombone is comedian Bernie Clifton `

:23:17. > :23:19.remember him from Crackerjack, and for riding that ostrich?

:23:20. > :23:22.Today, youngsters in Sheffidld got a chance to join in.

:23:23. > :23:35.Bernie Clifton is at it agahn. He is flying out to Brazil tomorrow to

:23:36. > :23:54.cheer on England. Were very excited will stop like

:23:55. > :23:57.kids waiting to Christmas. The two things that unite people around the

:23:58. > :24:00.world are music and football and we have them both. To be doing

:24:01. > :24:05.something for a good cause for prostate cancer each UK, thhs is

:24:06. > :24:18.great. Bennie and the band have become a

:24:19. > :24:22.regular sight at sporting events around the world. Today, yotngsters

:24:23. > :24:31.from a local primary school got a chance to help them rehearsd. In the

:24:32. > :24:43.words of Jacques Cousteau, he said to me blood or blood rub...

:24:44. > :24:53.My cousin Bernardo who is Ronan from Brazil to be here in Sheffidld, he

:24:54. > :25:19.loves the band also. Can you remember the words to the

:25:20. > :25:23.song? Yes, Lala Lala. With Bennie and the boys behind the England

:25:24. > :25:31.squad, how can they possiblx fail to bring the World Cup home.

:25:32. > :25:44.What's the weather like? Very dramatic. Here are some pictures.

:25:45. > :25:56.You can see Hale all over the place here. This is yesterday. Look at

:25:57. > :26:04.that. The third one. This is beautiful. That's been the way of it

:26:05. > :26:13.today but we have seen some thunderstorms in the last couple of

:26:14. > :26:18.hours. High`pressure looks set to dominate over the next few days You

:26:19. > :26:21.can see that thunderstorms that struck the Dales in the last couple

:26:22. > :26:26.of hours. They have been crossing towards the East Coast but there are

:26:27. > :26:31.further storms to come in the next couple of hours. Pretty hit and

:26:32. > :26:36.miss, but if you catch one xou will know about it. Overnight it should

:26:37. > :26:44.become dry with the storms loving away into the North Sea.

:26:45. > :26:52.Temperatures down to ten Celsius. The sun rises in the morning at 436

:26:53. > :26:58.H M. Apart from one or two darly morning showers most of us will be

:26:59. > :27:02.off to a fine start. There will be variable amount of cloud but also

:27:03. > :27:10.some sunshine. The breeze whll ease. Very pleasant conditions as we

:27:11. > :27:16.head into Wednesday afternoon. Let's look at the top temperatures. 2

:27:17. > :27:30.Celsius to 21 Celsius. Thursday looks like a beauthful day.

:27:31. > :27:43.Dry and warm with long spenders of sunshine. `` spells of sunshine Dry

:27:44. > :27:46.and bright with warm, sunny spells. We'll be back at 10:25pm.
