:02:06. > :02:11.Thavisha Peiris had come to Sheffield to pursue his dream job
:02:12. > :02:16.After three days of deliberation, the jury at Sheffield Crown Court
:02:17. > :02:19.found 26 year old Shamraze Khan guilty of murder.
:02:20. > :02:23.Another man, 18`year`old Kasim Ahmed,
:02:24. > :02:37.A dramatic afternoon at Sheffield Crown Court. After 14.5 hours of
:02:38. > :02:47.deliberation, a jury decided by a majority of ten to two that Shamraze
:02:48. > :02:51.Khan was guilty of murder. It was a story that attracted international
:02:52. > :02:56.headlines. For one family on the other side of the world, Creek
:02:57. > :03:05.continues. The dream of a better life taken for the sake of a mobile
:03:06. > :03:10.phone. 25 years old, Thavisha Peiris left to deliver his final pizza of
:03:11. > :03:14.his final shift. It was October 27 and after finishing his degree he
:03:15. > :03:19.was ready to start a new job. Instead he was attacked by Kasim
:03:20. > :03:21.Ahmed and Shamraze Khan. They try to take his phone before repeatedly
:03:22. > :03:28.stabbing him and leaving them to bleed to death. Two and a half weeks
:03:29. > :03:34.ago, Kasim Ahmed pleaded guilty to murder and admitted to robberies
:03:35. > :03:37.earlier the same evening. Shamraze Khan admitted the robberies but said
:03:38. > :03:41.he did not partake in the attack on Thavisha Peiris nor did he encourage
:03:42. > :03:49.it. But the prosecution said the men were jointly responsible. They had
:03:50. > :03:53.been out together in Sheffield city centre and committed to robberies
:03:54. > :03:56.with a knife. They were both acting then when they committed the robbery
:03:57. > :04:03.so we had to conclude that they were acting together at the murder. We
:04:04. > :04:10.got assistance from members of the public around the scene. Ultimately,
:04:11. > :04:19.we recovered a lot of property including keys that had been stolen
:04:20. > :04:24.from Thavisha Peiris's vehicle. His family believe the country was safe.
:04:25. > :04:25.Tomorrow, the men who murdered them will find out what the sentence will
:04:26. > :04:27.be. Six weeks after Thavisha Peiris'
:04:28. > :04:30.death, his family invited our reporter Kate Bradbrook to
:04:31. > :04:32.their home in Sri Lanka, They were struggling to cope with
:04:33. > :04:38.the idea that such a kind and generous person, suffered such
:04:39. > :04:41.a violent and sudden death.In Kate's exclusive report,

:04:46. > :04:50.Thavisha's colleague and housemate. Thavisha Peiris was just 25

:05:21. > :05:23.cope with the loss of their youngest son, who they had sent to the UK for

:06:48. > :06:52.and people were fighting, he would just say, calm down. He
:06:53. > :06:54.would be the peacemaker. He would be
:06:55. > :06:57.the one mediating to stop a fight. I would say he is such
:06:58. > :07:09.a human being. Thavisha's funeral was
:07:10. > :07:14.a traditional Buddhist ceremony. Hundreds followed the coffin to its
:07:15. > :07:19.final resting place in Sri Lanka. Many
