:04:18. > :04:19.were told she had died. was showing signs of life. Sadly,
:04:20. > :04:24.Ann finally passed away at the beginning of July but now hdr family
:04:25. > :04:29.say they want answers and are taking legal action against the hospital.

:04:32. > :04:41.Ann Saville was being treatdd for cancer in St James's Hospital last
:04:42. > :04:44.February when she suffered ` cardiac arrest. Staff attempted to
:04:45. > :04:48.resuscitate her, but when their attempts failed her family were
:04:49. > :04:52.called in and were told she had died. But when her partner John saw
:04:53. > :05:09.her, he was alarmed to find she was room, I would see Ann looking as if
:05:10. > :05:15.she were struggling for breath but that was an involuntary reaction. So
:05:16. > :05:18.obviously I went round to the bedside and I got hold of hdr hand,
:05:19. > :05:21.she was obviously still warm. Normal temperature. Blood was flowing. I
:05:22. > :05:24.said she's not dead, she is still alive. Ann lived for a further four
:05:25. > :05:27.months, brain`damaged as a result of a lack of oxygen before dying at the
:05:28. > :05:33.start of July. The worst thhng was that, if you read the report, you
:05:34. > :05:38.see that Ann was laid out rdady for me to arrive and the room cleaned.
:05:39. > :05:41.So there has been different people walking round that room, with Ann
:05:42. > :06:22.laid there struggling for breath and incident report into Ann's treatment
:06:23. > :06:26.at St James's Hospital and highlights a number problems in her
:06:27. > :06:29.care, and the failings that led to her family being told she was dead
:06:30. > :06:32.when she was actually still alive. The internal hospital investigation
:06:33. > :06:35.found that no action was taken after warnings of a potential
:06:36. > :06:37.deterioration in her condithon the night before her cardiac arrest
:06:38. > :06:39.Family members were told that Ann had died before doctors carried out
:06:40. > :06:42.an examination to confirm ddath Staff were unsure of the
:06:43. > :06:45.significance of the breath that Ann started taking, believing they were
:06:46. > :06:47.recognised part of death rather than are very basic breaches of processes
:06:48. > :06:53.and protocol that have occurred here and for that reason we will be
:06:54. > :06:56.writing the trust in future and ask them to accept full responsibility.
