:00:11. > :00:12.A memorial has been unveiled for hundreds of people

:00:13. > :00:15.from three South Yorkshire villages who were killed during the First

:00:16. > :00:19.People in Bolton upon Dearne, Goldthorpe and Highgate have spent

:00:20. > :00:21.two years raising money to pay for the tribute.

:00:22. > :00:24.The unveiling came as the country prepares to mark 100 years

:00:25. > :00:38.Remembering the Dearne Valley's fallen heroes.

:00:39. > :00:40.In bright sunshine, hundreds of people gathered this morning

:00:41. > :00:44.for the unveiling of a new memorial at Bolton upon Dearne Cemetery.

:00:45. > :00:48.297 men and one woman from this area were known to have been

:00:49. > :00:56.More than 200 of those men were miners.

:00:57. > :00:59.Everything we have enjoyed as a country and as a society since 1918,

:01:00. > :01:08.is thanks mainly to this generation that we are here to remember.

:01:09. > :01:12.Today's unveiling was the culmination of two years of

:01:13. > :01:18.fundraising and more than a decade of research by local volunteers.

:01:19. > :01:25.All the names on that, all the families are in the cemetery.

:01:26. > :01:29.So, what we have done, we have brought them all together

:01:30. > :01:34.in one place so people can come and pay their respects

:01:35. > :01:40.and to commemorate the sacrifice they gave for our country.

:01:41. > :01:43.With a lasting memorial in place and the anniversary of the start

:01:44. > :01:46.of World War I just around the corner, it's now hoped

:01:47. > :01:49.people from this area and beyond will come here to remember those who

:02:16. > :02:26.Tributes have been paid to a Barnsley soldier who was one of two

:02:27. > :02:28.men killed in a collision with a tractor in County Antrim, in

:02:29. > :02:32.Northern Ireland on Friday evening. 24`year`old Rifleman Dale Harris

:02:33. > :02:36.from 2nd Battalion The Rifles, was travelling in a car with his

:02:37. > :02:41.colleague when they collided with the tractor in Cullybackey. Rifleman

:02:42. > :02:44.Harris's commanding officer described him as a hugely competent

:02:45. > :02:47.and professional soldier and said that the whole battalion was deeply

:02:48. > :02:56.It's been the final day of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a

:02:57. > :02:59.number of Yorkshire's athletes have been in action adding to an already

:03:00. > :03:01.impressive haul of medals. With the round`up of some of the action

:03:02. > :03:38.I can call myself a champion and not the runner`up. I am always the

:03:39. > :03:45.runner`up. Here goes Scott Thwaites. Just putting a bit of pressure on

:03:46. > :04:39.this climb. Testing the legs of everybody else.

:04:40. > :05:10.It has been a bright but breezy day and we will see strong winds

:05:11. > :05:14.overnight, gradually decreasing as we had through the night. Some

:05:15. > :05:20.showers but also clearer skies and temperatures dipping to around 11 or

:05:21. > :05:25.12 Celsius. Tomorrow there will be sunshine to start, cloud around and

:05:26. > :05:30.the risk of a few scattered showers, but most likely over higher

:05:31. > :05:34.ground. And feeling warmer, temperatures high teens and low 20s

:05:35. > :05:40.at best. On Wednesday, sunshine around. The risk of showers,

:05:41. > :05:50.especially later on in the week. On Thursday, heavy rain.

:05:51. > :05:58.That is about it today. We should be back with the late Latin at around

:05:59. > :06:00.11:20pm, depending on the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.

:06:01. > :06:12.Hopefully you can join as then. Good evening. Some of us have had a

:06:13. > :06:16.sunny weekend but for others it has not stopped raining for the last

:06:17. > :06:22.couple of days, you can see where on the satellite picture, big swell of

:06:23. > :06:26.cloud, dominating things. Torrential storms, if you see the coverage, you

:06:27. > :06:29.can see how much rain there has been, that has caused issues.

:06:30. > :06:34.Thunder and lightning thrown in as well. This area of storms moves

:06:35. > :06:38.north out of Glasgow but this clutch of heavy downpours pushing into the

:06:39. > :06:42.south-west of Scotland, we will have to keep an eye on that for the

:06:43. > :06:46.closing ceremony. One thing is for sure, which showers and blustery

:06:47. > :06:49.wind, it will not be anything like as fine and warm as it was the

:06:50. > :06:55.opening ceremony. Further south across the UK, no such problems, the

:06:56. > :07:01.odd shower, they will to fade away, most places will settle into a dry

:07:02. > :07:10.night, further blustery showers. Temperatures will ease away and as

:07:11. > :07:14.we had last night, in Wirral spot -- in rural spots, single figures. It

:07:15. > :07:16.is in the way to the far north-west, and we will have a reasonable day,

:07:17. > :07:17.some
