:00:09. > :00:13.his family say court delays and blunders have left them devastated.

:00:14. > :00:15.Adam Pickles' parents Adele and Andrew will join us live

:00:21. > :00:23.a unique way of tackling lead theft in Yorkshire.

:00:24. > :00:28.And rolling back the years ` the Bradford company turning 2CVs

:00:29. > :00:37.into collectors' items to sell back to the French.

:00:38. > :00:56.Her It has been a cooler day. We have also had some sunshine.

:00:57. > :00:59.The parents of Adam Pickles ` the teacher

:01:00. > :01:03.from West Yorkshire left in a coma after being beaten up in Thailand `

:01:04. > :01:08.say they've been left frustrated and upset with the Thai legal system.

:01:09. > :01:12.A verdict was due today in the trial of Sean Tinsley, the man

:01:13. > :01:16.But the verdict's been postponed for a second time

:01:17. > :01:20.after important legal documents were sent to the wrong court.

:01:21. > :01:23.We'll be hearing from Andrew and Adele Pickles in a moment.

:01:24. > :01:30.Adam Pickles had lived in Thailand for seven years when he was attacked

:01:31. > :01:34.He had been working as an English teacher

:01:35. > :01:42.In May 2012 he was involved in a so`called road rage attack.

:01:43. > :01:46.Adam was in a coma but now shows some signs of recovery and is being

:01:47. > :01:51.The last two years have been distressing for the Pickles

:01:52. > :01:56.His parents Andrew and Adele were forced to remortgage their home to

:01:57. > :02:00.pay medical bills of around ?130,000 and to make several trips to

:02:01. > :02:03.Thailand to see the man accused of Adam's attempted murder face trial.

:02:04. > :02:07.The court proceedings have been slow and many hearings

:02:08. > :02:13.The family expected to hear a verdict this morning but instead

:02:14. > :02:18.This time till mid`September after important papers were sent to

:02:19. > :02:35.Well, Adam's parents, Adele and Andrew Pickles join us now.

:02:36. > :02:43.Another set back today, how did you feel when you heard the news?

:02:44. > :02:54.The first feeling was shock. Then frustration after we got over the

:02:55. > :03:01.shop. Angry really that this happened. It has gone on for so long

:03:02. > :03:06.and it has a real impact on the family and it is difficult for

:03:07. > :03:12.Andrew and I. All the constant ups and downs. An emotional

:03:13. > :03:16.roller`coaster, really. And explain the difficulties you have had trying

:03:17. > :03:22.to do with the authorities? There is the obvious cup location with the

:03:23. > :03:30.language but there is also `` obvious complication. The stages it

:03:31. > :03:36.has to go through. We have a lawyer and friends who can translate. It is

:03:37. > :03:43.a very complicated process and we are not sure about the stages we

:03:44. > :03:47.have to go through. Is this just inefficiency on behalf of the people

:03:48. > :03:54.in Thailand or is there more to it that gets you worried? I think we

:03:55. > :04:01.are unsure now whether we are going to get justice now. We put our faith

:04:02. > :04:07.in the Thai system. And your own money in it as well. A double worry

:04:08. > :04:12.for you? Yes. So we are very unsure now about what is going to happen.

:04:13. > :04:18.And whether we're going to get justice for Adam and his little boy

:04:19. > :04:22.Ben. We would like some closure on this. It does not just affect you

:04:23. > :04:33.but also Ben. Your beautiful grandson. Also his wife as well. She

:04:34. > :04:42.has been negotiating directly with the lawyers and interpreting for as

:04:43. > :04:47.`` as. It would have been very difficult without home and Adam's

:04:48. > :04:51.friends have been at the court as well and translating and watching

:04:52. > :04:53.what is happening. What about the British government will, what have

:04:54. > :05:04.they done, have they helped you? Not really. We spoke to our MP today,

:05:05. > :05:09.our MP secretary and we're hoping we will get the help we. We will be

:05:10. > :05:17.talking with him on the programme tonight at 1025 PM and we will be

:05:18. > :05:22.asking how we can help you. How is Adam doing at the moment? He's no

:05:23. > :05:29.longer classed as in a coma, he is now emerging in what is known as a

:05:30. > :05:31.minimally conscious state which in layman's Thames meteors coming

:05:32. > :05:42.through and we are getting responses from him. `` layman's terms. He can

:05:43. > :05:46.smile and indicate that he can hear us so that gives as a lot of hope.

:05:47. > :05:51.Thank you so much for coming in and we give you `` wish you the best of

:05:52. > :05:55.luck. A Yorkshire company has come up with

:05:56. > :05:58.a new tool to try and combat the huge problem

:05:59. > :06:01.of metal theft which costs the UK The idea was the brainchild

:06:02. > :06:05.of a former West Yorkshire police It is

:06:06. > :06:08.a crime that is damaging Yorkshire's Once the thieves have struck, the

:06:09. > :06:13.rain gets in to some of the region's Ripley Castle in North Yorkshire

:06:14. > :06:21.is just one of the places that The problem is that the thieves make

:06:22. > :06:29.such a mess in taking the lead, they rip it off in the middle

:06:30. > :06:35.of the night and they don?t really The damage they cause can cause

:06:36. > :06:39.immense harm inside the building So the cost

:06:40. > :06:42.of replacing that lead tends to be about four times the value of

:06:43. > :06:45.the lead that is actually stolen. But could this be

:06:46. > :06:47.the way to deter criminals? Designed by a former West Yorkshire

:06:48. > :06:51.detective, trace metal fires thousands

:06:52. > :06:55.of microdots into my metal sheets, Even the smelting process

:06:56. > :07:03.cannot destroy the nickel dots. It is a double edged deterrent

:07:04. > :07:05.of course. It goes also

:07:06. > :07:09.for unscrupulous dealers. if you buy marked metal you

:07:10. > :07:17.will not be able to sell it. Yorkshire has been something

:07:18. > :07:19.of a hotspot for lead theft Police operations and crackdowns

:07:20. > :07:25.at scrap metal yards have helping This is another weapon in the fight

:07:26. > :07:32.to try and make sure the region's We'll meet the Doctor Who fan

:08:01. > :08:03.been jailed for 17 years for keeping a woman locked

:08:07. > :08:10.Abdul Hanif had put his student victim through a harrowing ordeal

:08:11. > :08:15.of rape and assault. A judge said Hanif was guilty

:08:16. > :08:19.of calculated depravity. South Yorkshire's Police

:08:20. > :08:22.Commissioner Shaun Wright has ordered an independent review

:12:21. > :12:24.and popular market town in the Peak District ` but Bakewell does get

:12:25. > :12:27.very busy, especially in August. And it's likely to get much more

:12:28. > :12:30.crowded, as roads are closed while eight weeks of work are carried out

:12:31. > :12:34.to replace the town's gas mains. Some of the traders aren't happy,

:12:35. > :12:50.as Jo Healey reports from Bakewell. The first cut. Traders say they will

:12:51. > :12:54.feel it is the deepest. We have got a bank holiday coming up and at this

:12:55. > :13:01.time of year being at the tourist town we need as much trade coming in

:13:02. > :13:06.without disruption. Customers are complaining about traffic. They

:13:07. > :13:12.cannot find the space and cannot get him. They will go elsewhere. Closing

:13:13. > :13:18.roles like this in a busy market town is never going to be popular.

:13:19. > :13:22.But this work that they have just started they says the has to be

:13:23. > :13:26.done. They are replacing the gas mains to ensure safe and reliable

:13:27. > :13:30.gas supplies the local homes and businesses for the next 80 years so

:13:34. > :13:38.plastic pipe that will be in the ground and will be providing safe

:13:39. > :13:40.and reliable gas supplies for a lifetime. Until then the work will

:13:41. > :13:47.run for two months. York prepares for one

:13:48. > :13:52.of the richest races in it's history ` but who's the

:13:53. > :13:55.local horse among the favourites? And re`modelling the Citreon Dolly `

:13:56. > :13:57.the Bradford business struggling to Now, to all you Whovians out there,

:13:58. > :14:09.you don't need me to tell you the new series of Dr Who starts

:14:10. > :14:18.on Saturday night here on BBC1. What you may not know, though,

:14:19. > :14:20.is the heart warming story Billy Hanshaw, who's from Leeds,

:14:21. > :14:28.is a big Dr Who fan and designed his own opening title

:14:29. > :14:32.sequence and put it on You Tube. The show's creators spotted it,

:14:33. > :14:34.loved it, and asked Billy He's here with us,

:14:35. > :14:39.but let's have a look at that Without giving away any secrets,

:14:40. > :15:42.is the BBC's version recognisably The final title sequence is a

:15:43. > :15:51.collaboration between myself and the team. You have 60,000 viewers that

:15:52. > :15:56.the day you put it on. You have now had 800,000 views. And counting. Did

:15:57. > :16:00.you ever imagine it would be so popular? It was put on there as a

:16:01. > :16:08.portfolio piece because that is the kind of work I want to get into. I

:16:09. > :16:16.did not expect for one minute that they would get in touch. You must

:16:17. > :16:21.have really impressed them. You thought it was a hoax to begin with?

:16:22. > :16:29.I did. I message him back to say is there anything I can help you with

:16:30. > :16:33.because they linked to me. They said would you be interested in helping

:16:34. > :16:38.us out with the series eight titles and I jumped at it. The titles have

:16:39. > :16:46.changed dramatically. Over the many years as well. That was the original

:16:47. > :16:53.in 19 60. Amazing for the time it was produced. It is still quite

:16:54. > :17:06.creepy. Still evokes a sense of the otherworldly effect. How much of a

:17:07. > :17:13.fan of Doctor Who are you? Capaldi is my doctor from now on. David

:17:14. > :17:27.Tennant is mine. I am toad that Capaldi is sensational. `` I am toad

:17:28. > :17:34.told. Utterly amazing. Now you are with the BBC royal tea. What is next

:17:35. > :17:42.for you, has this open some doors? `` royalty. I am pitching other

:17:43. > :17:52.title sequences at this time. We wish you well. Thank you.

:18:28. > :18:30.of professionals haven't done this and I'm only 12 and I'm doing it.

:18:31. > :18:33.Doing what a lot of professionals want to do.

:18:34. > :18:36.I thought about it a couple of times and I'm proper nervous.

:18:40. > :18:44.Their year 10 girls are all conquering.

:18:45. > :18:48.But on Saturday the focus will be on these lads.

:20:44. > :20:50.Kevin has had more than 40 wins at York Racecourse and tomorrow

:20:51. > :20:56.The Juddmonte International is the richest race at York but it is never

:20:57. > :21:09.I think for any trainer in Yorkshire this is a big week.

:21:10. > :21:12.You know there will be a lot of owners attending this meeting

:21:13. > :21:14.and we try to take the best horses to the meeting.

:21:15. > :21:16.There is no doubting this three`year`old's ability

:22:50. > :22:55.to save the world was smitten when it came to the car. We had to say

:22:56. > :22:58.goodbye to them in 1990 but one company in Bradford have made it

:22:59. > :23:08.their mission to keep the love affair going. It builds and

:23:09. > :23:12.refurbishes the cars and it is so busy it cannot keep up with demand.

:23:13. > :23:16.One of its biggest customers are percent. Next week and one ship and

:23:17. > :23:22.it will send 30 across the Channel. They have not always been so

:23:23. > :23:26.popular. I liken them to Marmite. You either love them or you hate

:23:27. > :23:29.them. When I started the business I was ridiculed by other traders for

:23:30. > :23:33.doing them. Now the tables have turned a bit greedy and they are all

:24:07. > :24:09.the quirky bands are being used increasingly by fancy food stalls

:24:10. > :24:13.just perfect for those who want to stand out from the crowd. It was to

:24:14. > :24:22.look for a ban which would fit my ethos. The French ban provided the

:24:29. > :24:32.you can give it your personality and what you are doing. It is part of

:24:33. > :24:36.the family, really. Before you get too excited about taking a drive

:24:37. > :24:42.down memory lane you might have to start saving. The vans cost around

:24:43. > :24:48.?13,000 and the car, ten and a half thousand pounds. The company say

:24:49. > :24:53.there are on course to break all other poverty workers and we will

:25:51. > :25:54.a rather chilly out there and that is going to be a feature of the

:25:55. > :25:57.weather for the next four days. If you are camping at Leeds Festival

:25:58. > :26:02.will need to take an extra blanket because it looks quite chilly but

:26:03. > :26:06.tomorrow it will be largely dry. We continue to pull out down from the

:26:07. > :26:11.Arctic. You can see the ice coming down from the North. A lot of cloud

:26:12. > :26:14.on Thursday and patchy rain but there is some sunshine in between

:26:15. > :26:18.the showers on Friday. At the moment and we can does not look too bad.

:26:47. > :26:55.the towns and cities. The sun will rise at 553 AM. High water. It

:26:56. > :27:00.doesn't like a pleasant start to the day. It will be a mostly nice day,

:27:01. > :27:05.just a little bit nippy. In the sunshine the sun is still strong and

:27:06. > :27:07.warm. A cool breeze from the north`west and by the afternoon

:27:08. > :27:13.there could be the order, isolated shower. It is going to sit largely

:27:14. > :27:18.dry. Temperatures way below average though. We should be at this time of

:27:19. > :27:21.year, 21 degrees. Possibly spoiled by the height curvature so far this

:27:22. > :27:28.summer. 15 degrees or 16 degrees will feel nippy. Some showery rain

:27:29. > :27:36.on Thursday. Sunshine in between the showers on Friday. Take the next

:27:37. > :27:40.blanket if you are camping at the festival. Looking forward to that.
