:00:00. > :00:12.Tonight, Sheffield's world boxing champion is stabbed.

:00:13. > :00:14.Kell Brook is described as being stable in hospital

:00:15. > :00:17.We'll have the latest on his condition.

:00:18. > :00:19.Prayers for Rotherham as businesses warn

:00:20. > :00:23.of more problems for the town if its tarnished reputation isn't tackled.

:00:24. > :00:26.Every time that there is a negative headline, you can feel

:00:27. > :00:35.From China to Chatsworth ` the Far Eastern sculptures

:00:36. > :00:46.on outdoor public display at the Derbyshire stately home.

:00:47. > :00:51.Win and, in the match at He`dingley. What about the weekend? Join me for

:00:52. > :01:01.the latest forecast. First tonight, Sheffield's new world

:01:02. > :01:03.boxing champion, Kell Brook, has been stabbed while

:01:04. > :01:05.on holiday in Tenerife. His condition's described

:01:06. > :01:07.as stable but he's said to have lost Spanish police say the incident

:01:08. > :01:14.happened in the Golf del Sur area in San Miguel de Abona on the south

:01:15. > :01:17.of the island this morning. Only last month the boxer took

:01:18. > :01:24.the world title in Los Angeles. Our reporter Shamir Masri travelled

:01:25. > :01:50.with Kell to America Tenerife with hers young falily I

:01:51. > :01:57.am just outside the famous Jim Weir Kell Brook has trained for over 20

:01:58. > :02:03.years. `` has a young familx. He won the IBF world title in Los @ngeles a

:02:04. > :02:08.few weeks ago eating Americ`n holder Sean Porter one points. It was a

:02:09. > :03:31.dream come true for the man from Sheffield. `` beating. I am now

:03:32. > :03:35.has told me he is on his wax to Tenerife and we all hope th`t Kell

:03:36. > :03:40.Brook will be fit and healthy as soon as possible.

:03:41. > :03:43.Prayers are to be said in Rotherham this evening for those involved in

:03:44. > :03:47.Church groups will gather to pray for the 1,400 victims

:03:48. > :03:50.of these crimes and also for safety on the streets.

:03:51. > :03:52.The revelations have affectdd everyone in the town,

:03:53. > :03:54.with some businesses saying the area's reputation is now tarnished

:03:55. > :04:01.Heidi Tomlinson is in Rotherham for us now.

:04:02. > :04:12.This is the part in Rotherh`m, it is a green space which at 7pm tonight

:04:13. > :04:15.will take on a reflective atmosphere as a session of prayers beghn. It

:04:16. > :04:21.has been organised by the ntmber of Christian churches across the town.

:04:22. > :04:25.The park naturally attracts very young people with its cafe `nd

:04:26. > :04:28.parked and adventure course. It is suggested that this is an area that

:04:29. > :04:33.could have been used for grooming and abroad. All sections of the

:04:34. > :04:37.community here have been affected by this report on child sexual

:04:38. > :04:41.exploitation published last week, not least those in the business

:04:42. > :04:47.sector. Our correspondent D`nni Hewson reports.

:04:48. > :04:53.A lot of effort has been made to regenerate the town centre `fter the

:04:54. > :04:58.backing of Maryport in 2007. Revelations of the last few weeks

:04:59. > :05:01.have had football heart. Whhle no one wants to ignore what happened,

:05:02. > :05:12.some fear for the future. `` Maryport. At the moment it hs very

:05:13. > :05:16.negative. If this carries on, it will continue into our Christmas

:05:17. > :05:20.treat and I hate to say it, but many businesses rely upon that Stride and

:05:21. > :05:27.if they do not have it, it will make a major impact. The timing hs

:05:28. > :05:32.particularly damaging. As the economy picks up and investlent

:05:33. > :05:38.opportunities start, perception plays a huge part. We are working

:05:39. > :05:45.hard to find premises and to invest in this town. Obviously, as I said

:05:46. > :05:49.yesterday, I would reinstatd that. This pales into insignificance

:05:50. > :05:55.compared to some of the findings of the report and the victims of this,

:05:56. > :05:58.which is the most important thing. The town has been hurt and

:05:59. > :06:05.rebuilding its brand will bd doubly hard as the story is not finished.

:06:06. > :06:08.Calls for resignations, arrdsts and father demonstrations can only

:06:09. > :06:12.rekindle negative headlines. Business leaders feel it is

:06:13. > :06:20.impossible to gauge how it will help the wider economy. It is too early

:06:21. > :06:26.to assess that. I think certainly the proposed English Defencd League

:06:27. > :06:31.March on the 13th of this month will have an affect on the town centres.

:06:32. > :06:38.At the moment we are not getting any reports of business interruption or

:06:39. > :06:42.people cancelling contracts. It has taken decades to build up a

:06:43. > :06:47.reputation capable of attracting big business. That reputation `` that

:06:48. > :06:54.reputation could be tarnishdd, but not on every front.

:06:55. > :06:57.Well, it is now the chance of the Christian church to respond to this

:06:58. > :07:04.scandal and read prayers thhs evening. Johnny Bean out as the

:07:05. > :07:09.local reverend. You have had a great response to this invitation for

:07:10. > :07:13.prayer. You will be preening `` you will be praying for the victims

:07:14. > :07:21.tonight. `` Johnny May now hs the local minister. How can the church

:07:22. > :07:27.help? We have healing ministry and counselling and people from other

:07:28. > :07:30.agencies. We have some experience of child protection through our own

:07:31. > :07:36.experiences and we have somd knowledge to share with othdr

:07:37. > :07:42.people. Hopefully from a position of humility because we have had to

:07:43. > :07:45.learn from our own mistakes. There is a parallel prayer vigil outside

:07:46. > :07:51.of the police and council officers, why is that taking place? The role

:07:52. > :07:56.of the Council is crucial in addressing this problem and

:07:57. > :07:58.obviously the police have two play their part in bringing the

:07:59. > :08:03.perpetrators of these crimes to justice. But it is something for the

:08:04. > :08:09.whole team unity and we must come together to tackle the crishs

:08:10. > :08:14.together, really. Practically, this is a special service and pr`yer

:08:15. > :08:20.session. Can this help? Do xou need a long`term plan? This is khnd of a

:08:21. > :08:25.first response, the first step on a long journey. We have seriots issues

:08:26. > :08:30.and questions to deal with. That will be tough but we must create a

:08:31. > :08:34.climate of trust and friendship to other team unity groups, showing

:08:35. > :08:46.support to each other across a Rotherham. We believe that prayer is

:08:47. > :08:49.part of that. Thank you for joining us, reverend. Within one hotr's

:08:50. > :08:51.time, prayer groups while attending a special service were membdrs of

:08:52. > :08:55.the public have been invited to pray for peace in this town.

:08:56. > :08:58.We will have more on that in our news report this evening.

:08:59. > :09:05.The man who lost two stone hn weight after getting a free bike on a

:09:06. > :09:11.Firefighters have spent the day bringing a fire at a waste recycling

:09:12. > :09:16.Station Road in Ecclesfield has been closed after the blaze brokd out

:09:17. > :09:20.The fire started in a large building packed with

:09:21. > :09:23.plastic and cardboard and the fire service have been pumping w`ter from

:09:24. > :09:30.It's fully containing recyclable waste.

:09:31. > :09:32.Now, that is a various mixttre of plastic products,

:09:33. > :09:37.The product is fully involvdd in the fire to the point at which

:09:38. > :09:42.The building is a steel portal frame and the heat has started

:09:43. > :09:50.The Home Secretary, Theresa May has been given the go`ahead to

:09:51. > :09:52.extradite a terror suspect from Batley to the United States.

:09:53. > :09:55.Haroon Aswat is wanted for `llegedly conspiring with convicted tdrrorist

:09:56. > :10:00.Abu Hamza to establish a jihadi training camp in Oregon.

:10:01. > :10:02.The High Court in London ruled that Aswat, who s

:10:03. > :10:05.suffering from a mental illness could be sent to America for trial

:10:06. > :10:16.after receiving assurances `bout the conditions in which he'll bd held.

:10:17. > :10:18.The Energy Secretary Ed Davdy has reiterated that

:10:19. > :10:21.the Government is not plannhng to use its cash to keep two dedp`pit

:10:22. > :10:24.Labour claims that the new Energy Minister, Matthew Hancock,

:10:25. > :10:27.had indicated he backed state aid to maintain pits at

:10:28. > :10:31.Kellingley Colliery near Pontefract and Thoresby in Nottinghamshire

:10:32. > :10:33.1,400 jobs will go when the collieries shut.

:10:34. > :10:35.But, in the Commons, Mr Davey told Labour's Shadow Energy

:10:36. > :10:50.Secretary, Caroline Flint, that wasn't the best way forward.

:10:51. > :10:53.With just a fortnight to go to the independence referendum

:10:54. > :10:56.in Scotland, there are now calls for Yorkshire to be given the same

:10:57. > :10:59.Campaigners say the populathon of Yorkshire is virtually

:11:00. > :11:01.the same size as Scotland, but the economy is lagging behind.

:11:02. > :11:04.In the last of this week's series on the referendum debate, hdre's

:11:05. > :11:10.The iconic Forth Bridge near Edinburgh, opened in 1890 at the

:11:11. > :11:13.cost of ?3.2 million, every penny from the private rail companies

:11:14. > :11:15.The famous Road Suspension Bridge, finished in 1964, ?11.5 million

:11:16. > :11:25.And rising from the waters, the recently named Queensferry Road

:11:26. > :11:28.Bridge costing ?1.5 billion, all of it funded by the existing

:11:29. > :11:43.All of the Westminster political parties

:11:44. > :11:46.have already said that even if the Scots vote no, then extra powers

:11:47. > :11:48.will still be given to the devolved parliament here in Edinburgh

:11:49. > :11:56.Now, that is being seen with envious eyes the other side of the border.

:11:57. > :11:58.Particularly a couple of hundred miles south of the Forth

:11:59. > :12:22.Both areas have similar sizds of population. Public spending and

:12:23. > :12:29.Yorkshire is running at ?8,610 per head. In Scotland at a slightly

:12:30. > :12:34.higher at ?10,000. Wages in Yorkshire are lagging behind. Here

:12:35. > :12:40.are the weekly wages... We have seen a huge upsurge in

:12:41. > :12:43.interest in devolution for the North of England, I think people `re

:12:44. > :12:46.listening to the debates th`t are taking place north of the border, a

:12:47. > :12:49.lot of the arguments that are being made up there for why Scotl`nd

:12:50. > :12:52.should have greater powers, more and more people are saying, yes, the

:12:53. > :12:55.North could do with that as well. A decade ago, plans for a

:12:56. > :12:59.directly`elected regional assembly for each of the three northdrn

:13:00. > :13:03.regions, including Yorkshird, Let's transfer ?30 billion worth

:13:04. > :13:05.of spending... But in the shadow of Scotland,

:13:06. > :13:08.every political leader has been trekking to Yorkshire,

:13:09. > :13:10.promising extra billions will soon be heading north together whth local

:13:11. > :13:17.powers to spend it. It appears we are now pushing

:13:18. > :13:21.at an open door in terms of all of the national political p`rties

:13:22. > :13:23.talking up devolution and ghving power to local areas, but often

:13:24. > :13:26.when parties then enter govdrnment, The echoes of the debate in Scotland

:13:27. > :13:30.are already having an effect on Yorkshire, even before that

:13:31. > :13:33.referendum vote in two weeks' time. Len Tingle, BBC Look North,

:13:34. > :13:46.Queensferry. Well, Peter Box, the leader of

:13:47. > :13:57.Wakefield Council joins us now. Why do we need it? I think lost

:13:58. > :14:05.people believe we can make decisions better at a local level. How would

:14:06. > :14:10.it work? What we want is to build on what we have already achievdd and

:14:11. > :14:15.create a combined authority in the area. We have received one building

:14:16. > :14:21.pounds from the government `nd we hope to create some 63,000 jobs to

:14:22. > :14:25.ensure that we grow the economy in West Yorkshire by ?5 million over

:14:26. > :14:29.the next seven years. We have huge ambition but we could do more if we

:14:30. > :14:34.had more. Would that not just creates more political bure`ucracy,

:14:35. > :14:42.you need someone to govern that cash? We do not want a more

:14:43. > :14:46.politicians, but we do have existing structures. The combined authority

:14:47. > :14:50.that is being created, that body could deal with the cash th`t we are

:14:51. > :14:56.asking from the government. One example would be that the government

:14:57. > :15:01.spends about ?22.5 million dach year on skills and the economy and that

:15:02. > :15:06.is made up of 103 different funding parts. Surely it makes sensd to give

:15:07. > :15:10.it to the combined authoritx and power equipment in South Yorkshire

:15:11. > :15:17.to spend locally. Regional assemblies, are the viable options?

:15:18. > :15:22.It is not about creating regional assemblies. There was a refdrendum

:15:23. > :15:28.many years ago in the north`east and people voted no. There was no

:15:29. > :15:31.appetite back then, but I think the referendum in Scotland has hncreased

:15:32. > :15:35.debate and things have changed. At the assistance of the government we

:15:36. > :15:45.have a combined authority so we have accountable bodies which ard hugely

:15:46. > :15:48.ambitious and giving a real lead across West Yorkshire in trxing to

:15:49. > :15:51.create more jobs, trying to create skills for our younger generation.

:15:52. > :15:55.Thank you for joining us, Pdter I am sure that debate will continue.

:15:56. > :16:13.It's been a while now since our epic tandem bike ride for Comic Relief,

:16:14. > :16:17.I didn't manage it, but thousands across Yorkshhre did.

:16:18. > :16:19.Including the man who brought the Tour de France here earlier

:16:20. > :16:22.Yes, Welcome To Yorkshire's Gary Verity cycled 55 miles to gdt

:16:23. > :16:25.into work this morning, no lean feat, I'm sure you'll agree.

:16:26. > :16:28.And he's hoping more of us will get on our bikes too

:16:29. > :16:30.Cycling in general is good for the population,

:16:31. > :16:34.We will all be slimmer, I am three stone slimmer th`n I was

:16:35. > :16:40.And so, generally, I believd it is a good thing to do, just make sure you

:16:41. > :17:03.have a safe route into work and use as many cycle routes as possible.

:17:04. > :17:11.One man swapped his boss for a bicycle last week. Craig Barnes

:17:12. > :17:17.cycles 60 miles each day, hd is his story. My name is Craig Barnes and

:17:18. > :17:22.for the last ten months I h`ve been cycling eight months to work using a

:17:23. > :17:30.battery`operated bike. For the last two years I caught the bus.

:17:31. > :17:41.An hour on the bus, 25 minutes on the bike! This is much bettdr. I do

:17:42. > :17:47.not like using bus lanes. You cannot get a seat on the bus and it cost

:17:48. > :17:50.you ?56 each month. I have lost weight over it and I feel good in

:17:51. > :17:55.the morning. I am singing and buzzing about. You look at xour

:17:56. > :18:02.colleagues and they are walking in almost falling asleep. It is a good

:18:03. > :18:10.thing. After three months you have the option to buy yet. This company

:18:11. > :18:14.helped me to get it running. You would ask me how much did I pay for

:18:15. > :18:24.this bike, it did not cost le anything. Council funding is really

:18:25. > :18:28.what makes this scheme accessible. It is an initiative run by the

:18:29. > :18:33.Rotherham Council. It sells itself, it is almost free!

:18:34. > :18:40.Indeed it is, and all of th`t fresh air as well. We have been informed

:18:41. > :18:47.that Gary did not say, home and it took him hours to get into work this

:18:48. > :18:53.morning! Tanya will be here shortly with the sport news. Firstlx

:18:54. > :18:56.however, ahead of the One D`y International, how important is it

:18:57. > :19:01.for Headingley to pull in the crowds? And the latest exhibitions

:19:02. > :19:19.on sale for a fortune at Ch`tsworth. Never a dull day in football. This

:19:20. > :19:23.time it is the turn of Sheffield Wednesday. Yes, the current owner of

:19:24. > :19:32.Sheffield Wednesday, Milan Laserati, has said that the Azerbaijani

:19:33. > :19:36.businessmen has not purchasdd any shares of the sponsorship

:19:37. > :19:40.arrangements. The pair shook hands on a deal back in May, but Lilan and

:19:41. > :19:43.the rich has now asked for his legal advisers to take any action

:19:44. > :19:54.necessary. What does this mdan in practical terms? It means it is now

:19:55. > :20:00.back on the market. The deal is off. In practical terms, just as he has

:20:01. > :20:03.been in the run`up to making that steel, me Alan Wilkins and xou to

:20:04. > :20:09.run the clock, but he is looking for pirates.

:20:10. > :20:13.Rugby league, and Leeds Rhinos head coach Brian McDermott says he will

:20:14. > :20:18.stand by the club statement which defends the Zak Hardaker and accuses

:20:19. > :20:21.the RFL of a witchhunt against the player. Zak Hardaker is being

:20:22. > :20:27.investigated over claims he used homophobic language during this

:20:28. > :20:33.incident and last week's match against Saint Helens. He is already

:20:34. > :20:39.serving a 5 game suspension after making comments any match at

:20:40. > :20:51.Warrington. The RFL have so far declined to comment.

:20:52. > :20:53.There are few things, he is

:20:54. > :20:58.that he isn't and his name has been bandied about and I do not think it

:20:59. > :21:01.Guilty and proven innocent, isn't it?

:21:02. > :21:04.His name should not be menthoned and his name has not even bden

:21:05. > :21:14.investigated yet, Zak, never mind been found guiltx.

:21:15. > :21:21.Halifax Road B league club have parted company with the court,

:21:22. > :21:28.Harrison. It comes after thd club missed out on the top two fhnish

:21:29. > :21:32.which would have secured thdm a quarter of a quarter of ?1 lillion.

:21:33. > :21:36.Headingley hosts the one`dax final international between India and

:21:37. > :21:41.England tomorrow. England are already 3`0 down in the serhes.

:21:42. > :21:44.Headingley has to fight for its place in the international

:21:45. > :22:10.calendar, Yorkshire cannot `fford to bid for the likes of the Ashes.

:22:11. > :22:15.game of the summer for Engl`nd. Joe Root and Gary Ballance will be free

:22:16. > :22:17.to join up as they look to wrap up the County championship title,

:22:18. > :22:25.starting at Nottinghamshire, next week. It is important for those guys

:22:26. > :22:31.to represent the county. Thdy are playing for England, but whdnever

:22:32. > :22:34.you have your international player is available, it is great and it

:22:35. > :23:52.miniature landscape is insphred by an ancient Chinese story of an

:23:53. > :23:56.exquisite and harmonious village discovered in the mountains. It is

:23:57. > :24:04.never found again. Its creator bilby is that all of us are looking for

:24:05. > :24:12.this lost ideal. Its creator `` its creator. It is really beauthful and

:24:13. > :24:19.a different type of art. Thdy also have a lot of animals. You can see

:24:20. > :24:25.the giraffes and the lions living together. It is better than being

:24:26. > :24:33.human! Human beings are alw`ys fighting, this is much more

:24:34. > :24:37.peaceful! It is fascinating, really interesting, and it has so luch

:24:38. > :24:43.story behind it. I think it looks beautiful. A Chinese utopia is

:24:44. > :24:49.undoubtedly the star of the show, but there are 22 monumental

:24:50. > :24:52.sculptures throughout these gardens. This one is the Duke 's favourite

:24:53. > :25:00.but you will have to come down and decide which one is yours. Ht is

:25:01. > :25:03.such a treat having major works by well`known artists and adjust to

:25:04. > :25:14.have a loan of those works for three months of the year, such a

:25:15. > :25:16.privilege, it really is. It is wonderful, so many different types.

:25:17. > :25:19.The sculptures are on displ`y until the end of October before they will

:25:20. > :25:24.be sold and end up around the globe. It is difficult to think of a finer

:25:25. > :25:32.setting than this one. Beautiful. I feel suitably Serena

:25:33. > :25:34.Burton, do you not as well? I wonder if the weather is just as c`lm as

:25:35. > :25:51.that setting? It looks like we will have fine

:25:52. > :25:55.weather for the match at He`dingley. Firstly, hear are some picttres that

:25:56. > :26:01.you have sent into us. Please keep them coming into others. Tolorrow,

:26:02. > :26:06.we have variable cloud. Somd sunshine. There is the risk of an

:26:07. > :26:10.isolated shower later in thd afternoon and into the evenhng. The

:26:11. > :26:15.rain on Friday night will spread into Saturday morning. Saturday

:26:16. > :26:20.evening and Sunday morning looks very pleasant indeed. There has been
