:00:00. > :00:00.but it'll be turning quite breezy. Thank you very much. That's it.

:00:00. > :00:10.Joy for Yorkshire as they whn the top title in English Crhcket

:00:11. > :00:23.When you first start playing the Yorkshire you dream of thesd things.

:00:24. > :00:26.It's up there with any Ashes win. We'll hear from some

:00:27. > :00:27.of the victorious players. The shopkeepers preparing to close

:00:28. > :00:32.their doors as Rotherham br`ces And an exclusive look

:00:33. > :00:38.at the dogs being trained to keep our troops safe in one of the most

:00:39. > :00:50.dangerous places in the world. I'll be back with the weathdr later

:00:51. > :01:01.in the programme. Good evening and welcome to

:01:02. > :01:04.Friday's Look North. And tonight there's

:01:05. > :01:06.something to celebrate. Yorkshire have won the top title

:01:07. > :01:09.in English cricket They needed just 67 minutes at

:01:10. > :01:15.Trent Bridge to complete victory over Nottinghamshire and be crowned

:01:16. > :01:19.this season's county champions. Tanya Arnold watched

:01:20. > :01:21.the final wickets fall and is live there tonight where

:01:22. > :01:41.celebrations are well underway. Absolutely. They sealed the title

:01:42. > :01:47.just after 11:30am. They ard still here celebrating. In the middle of

:01:48. > :01:51.that huddle there is the cup. We talked about winning the title back

:01:52. > :01:53.in 2001. There was one playdr who was left from that squad. Hd was

:01:54. > :02:01.playing today. He played a key part. I was a man on

:02:02. > :02:04.a mission this morning, I w`nted to do well for the team and it was just

:02:05. > :02:08.a case of going out there and trying Cometh the hour,

:02:09. > :02:11.cometh Ryan Sidebottom. He took four of the five wickets

:02:12. > :02:14.Yorkshire needed today, including the final one that clinched

:02:15. > :02:16.the 2014 County Championship title. I think it?s been a wonderftl

:02:17. > :02:22.team effort this season. Something that a lot

:02:23. > :02:39.of people have worked very hard We've waited a little while

:02:40. > :02:42.for this. A special time for the club

:02:43. > :02:46.and I am sure we can all enjoy it. Come down from Leeds this morning,

:02:47. > :02:48.first train. It's my special day out

:02:49. > :03:01.for my wedding anniversary. Fantastic, we've won a trophy

:03:02. > :03:03.and it's not raining. When you start playing for Xorkshire

:03:04. > :03:09.you kind of dream To finally have one arrive,

:03:10. > :03:13.I feel over the moon. It's up there with any Ashes win and

:03:14. > :03:16.anything like that with England Just to win it is fantastic

:03:17. > :03:22.but to make a big contribution to the sdason as

:03:23. > :03:27.I have done is even more pldasing. Yes, thanks to everyone that

:03:28. > :03:30.has helped me along the way. Friends, family,

:03:31. > :03:34.coaches and obviously the players. And in the presidential

:03:35. > :03:38.one`upmanship stakes, Dickie Bird has achieved solething

:03:39. > :03:40.that Geoffrey Boycott never did He never won it

:03:41. > :03:45.when he was president. My first term in office and I've won

:03:46. > :03:49.the championship, but the l`ds said So I am going to have

:03:50. > :04:14.a word with Geoffrey. I don't think it will. Marthn, you

:04:15. > :04:18.have seen some ups and downs into your time. Our specialist this? Very

:04:19. > :04:27.special. One of the highlights career if not the highlight. To have

:04:28. > :04:30.the lads win the championshhp in the way they did, I think it's hs

:04:31. > :04:35.showing the quality and the skill of the lads. I'm very proud of them.

:04:36. > :04:42.Just seeing them out there, they are such a tight unit. I think nine of

:04:43. > :04:46.the 11 playing in the game came through the academy system. It's a

:04:47. > :04:52.fantastic achievement for the club. We've had a good afternoon. I'm very

:04:53. > :04:59.impressed you are here and still articulate. I think it is f`ir to

:05:00. > :05:06.say that Yorkshire might not exist without Colin Groves. I agrde. It's

:05:07. > :05:10.exactly the case. He is dridd out now. He was a bit wet earlidr. The

:05:11. > :05:17.lads have shown him how much appreciation we have for hil. He

:05:18. > :05:20.supported me all my career. The time and energy he has put into the club

:05:21. > :05:27.is unbelievable. We are delhghted for him. What a way to be thanked,

:05:28. > :05:35.by being soaked in champagnd. I ll give them the cleaning bill. What

:05:36. > :05:41.does it mean to you Colin. Ht is fantastic. I'm prepped for the lads

:05:42. > :05:44.and for Martin. Everything he has done has been fantastic. To me he is

:05:45. > :05:49.the one guy I wanted to win the championship. The year to h`ve nine

:05:50. > :05:56.of the players coming through the academy, that's what you wanted as

:05:57. > :06:02.net? Yes, it was one of Martin's ideas. We put the academy in the

:06:03. > :06:07.Yorkshire league playing as a team. It has paid dividends. To sde them

:06:08. > :06:11.come through, we have more pushing the places and it's fantasthc. Is

:06:12. > :06:20.there any moment you might have walked away? No, not at all. UK mean

:06:21. > :06:29.just before they went out of business? We were virtually on our

:06:30. > :06:34.way out. It's been a great journey. We were not think 12 years `go. Now

:06:35. > :06:40.we own this ground and have a lot of things to look forward to. We're

:06:41. > :06:55.going to do it again next ydar. Thank you for joining us. Wdll done.

:06:56. > :06:58.More than 1,000 extra officdrs will be on the streets of Rotherham

:06:59. > :07:01.tomorrow to police a protest by the English Defence Leagte.

:07:02. > :07:05.The far right group is demonstrating against the child abuse scandal

:07:06. > :07:10.They EDL says 5,000 people will be there, the police put the fhgure

:07:11. > :07:14.Meanwhile some shop owners `re saying it's damaging business,

:07:15. > :07:28.In the shadow of the police station, the English Defence League `re

:07:29. > :07:34.making their presence felt. They said they won't dismantle the camp

:07:35. > :07:36.until the Police and Crime Commissioner resigns. Tomorrow they

:07:37. > :07:43.predict thousands more of the members will join them. As Roger

:07:44. > :07:48.behind you. I think so yes. I don't think the Muslims are behind us

:07:49. > :07:55.obviously. A few of the loc`ls are not either. South Yorkshire Police

:07:56. > :07:57.haven't put a figure on the cost of policing tomorrow's demonstration.

:07:58. > :08:08.But as the crash barriers arrived they are still repairing for one and

:08:09. > :08:12.a half thousand people. The dynamics could be very different. We have

:08:13. > :08:17.been working with the organhsers from different groups and understand

:08:18. > :08:21.their responsibilities. There is no suggestion there will be disorder.

:08:22. > :08:25.But we have to prepare for ht. There are dozens of small traders on the

:08:26. > :08:30.high Street. Now, they have decisions to make. This delhcatessen

:08:31. > :08:35.has only been open for five months and this is the second time they've

:08:36. > :08:38.had to deal with a demonstr`tion. It's really annoying becausd

:08:39. > :08:43.everybody is trying so hard to bring this town back to life. We keep

:08:44. > :08:48.getting knocked back. That hs one of the reasons why we will stax open.

:08:49. > :08:55.Right across the street, different call. We will lose about 90$ of our

:08:56. > :09:00.Saturday turnover. It makes the decision to close very easy. There

:09:01. > :09:03.are large issues involved. But at the same time it would be mtch

:09:04. > :09:10.better if the protest wasn't in the centre of town. On lamp posts

:09:11. > :09:14.nearby, there is evidence the EDL are determined to use this gamble to

:09:15. > :09:19.recruit. One community group in the town proposes a different show of

:09:20. > :09:24.unity next weekend. We are coming out with a united multiculttral

:09:25. > :09:30.demonstration. The whole colmunity is coming out and standing for

:09:31. > :09:36.justice for 1400. These flags won't be coming down any time soon. Rather

:09:37. > :09:40.may try to move on but now DDL are staying put.

:09:41. > :09:43.The father of a grooming victim is askhng why

:09:44. > :09:45.Ofsted gave Rotherham Counchl's children's services a clean bill

:09:46. > :09:48.It's one of the subjects being discussed

:09:49. > :09:51.on Sunday Politics, which rdturns for a new series this weekend.

:09:52. > :09:59.Tim Iredale, the programme's presenter, joins us now.

:10:00. > :10:06.Tim, offstage role in managhng this services has been discussed. Should

:10:07. > :10:11.they shoulder the blame? Well as well as inspecting schools they are

:10:12. > :10:16.also responsible are keeping an eye on children's services. Manx MPs

:10:17. > :10:20.asking why Roger was given ` clean bill of health when it came to the

:10:21. > :10:29.care of vulnerable children when we know there were problems. That's one

:10:30. > :10:36.of the issues we will be discussing. You are also talking about the

:10:37. > :10:41.Scottish referendum. I think whatever happens in next wedk's

:10:42. > :10:45.referendum, there will be growing calls for English regions, hncluding

:10:46. > :10:51.Yorkshire, to have more devolved power away from Westminster. That's

:10:52. > :10:55.borne out by a survey that came out today. It shows a growing ntmber of

:10:56. > :11:00.Yorkshire folk want some form of Parliament or assembly for our

:11:01. > :11:06.religion. I don't think we `re quite talking about a home rule,

:11:07. > :11:11.independence Yorkshire. It's an interesting talking point.

:11:12. > :11:16.We meet the Yorkshire troops who guard Britain's base in Afghanistan

:11:17. > :11:26.In other news now, and a 70`year`old man from South Yorkshire has been

:11:27. > :11:33.man's Vauxhall Astra colliddd with a Renault Clio at Chapel St Ldonards,

:11:34. > :11:39.He died at the scene, along with the driver and a passenger in the Clio.

:11:40. > :11:42.Police have not yet named the victims.

:11:43. > :11:45.The funeral has taken place of a University of Leeds sttdent who

:11:46. > :11:48.died in the Malaysian Airline's crash in Ukraine.

:11:49. > :11:52.Richard Mayne was among nearly 00 people killed in the disastdr.

:11:53. > :11:54.He'd been travelling to Australia to begin a work placement.

:11:55. > :11:57.Hundreds of family members and friends filled

:11:58. > :12:02.a church close to his childhood home for the funeral service.

:12:03. > :12:05.Plans have been unveiled to tackle a shortage of affordable holes

:12:06. > :12:09.The council says there's a "housing crisis", as many pdople

:12:10. > :12:12.born and raised in the city can t afford their own home.

:12:13. > :12:15.They say around 17,000 new houses should be

:12:16. > :12:21.There are also plans for a lajor upgrade of the city's roads.

:12:22. > :12:25.It's estimated the proposals will help to create

:12:26. > :12:32.Now to the third of our special reports from

:12:33. > :12:37.One of the many surprising things I learned during our trip there was

:12:38. > :12:40.that the security of the base is in the hands of the RAF, nalely 34

:12:41. > :12:43.Squadron of the RAF Regiment and they are based at Leeming.

:12:44. > :12:46.The job they do means they're on the front line keeping

:12:47. > :12:49.the base safe right up until the handover to the Afghan

:12:50. > :12:54.And that could be on the ground or from the air. They

:12:55. > :12:57.are, as Harry found out, an incredibly brave group

:12:58. > :13:11.This is as far as I am allowed to go. This is the outer perimdter of

:13:12. > :13:19.Camp Bastion. The defence of the base is entrusted to the RAF. They

:13:20. > :13:25.are responsible for the sectrity in towers like this. In small groups

:13:26. > :13:30.the regiment camped here for two weeks at a time. 24 hours a day

:13:31. > :13:38.constant surveillance needed. Patrols beyond the perimeter. They

:13:39. > :13:43.are literally at the edge of it all. We have various tasks. We'rd out on

:13:44. > :13:51.the ground ensuring the aircraft can come in and out safely. The also

:13:52. > :13:57.take up defensive positions in the towers and go out on various foot

:13:58. > :14:01.patrols to engage with the locals. Again, to deter the enemy from

:14:02. > :14:08.pushing to close. In the thhck of it, a lad from Bradford. We usually

:14:09. > :14:15.go out about four times a d`y. We do perimeter check the fences `nd then

:14:16. > :14:25.a secondary check on the earth that is built up around the base. We also

:14:26. > :14:26.get called out from towers. They give us a call and we go straight

:14:27. > :14:37.out. Break`out by 34 Squadron. Any time,

:14:38. > :14:45.day or night, they might have to do this. This is what they are trained

:14:46. > :14:54.for. Watching the Taliban, watching them, watching us. Then the lads are

:14:55. > :15:03.thinking about where they are going on travel trips. Surveillance these

:15:04. > :15:08.days is costly. But different. This is an unmanned air vehicle. The

:15:09. > :15:13.pictures are astonishing. Wd can't show the real ones but I can tell

:15:14. > :15:23.you this, how it is controlled. It's flown on a ?3 at `` machine

:15:24. > :15:27.controlled by the GPS. The reason we use Xbox controllers is bec`use

:15:28. > :15:32.people already know how to tse them back home. It's my job to look after

:15:33. > :15:40.the assets. And to look into certain grades. We are looking to stspicious

:15:41. > :15:48.activity or certain hotspots that we may be worried about. Everyone on

:15:49. > :15:55.the base has to carry a gun. There are no exceptions. This is because

:15:56. > :15:59.zeroing. Making the weapon shoot straight. By the regiment is not

:16:00. > :16:09.here at the moment, it is rdady to deploy. We are based in Cyprus. My

:16:10. > :16:15.job is, I've been detached to provide a link back to Cyprts. If

:16:16. > :16:23.things were to go wrong herd and we were needed, I would supply the link

:16:24. > :16:32.back. When Camp Bastion does closed there is going to be a piecd of

:16:33. > :16:39.Yorkshire here for all time. This product has helped to protect our

:16:40. > :16:44.troops. Mile upon mile of these It's just a bad time to leave, but

:16:45. > :16:51.when we do, it will be done in the right way.

:16:52. > :16:54.And a little later on the programme we will be meeting

:16:55. > :16:58.the canine defenders of Camp Bastion ` the military working dogs.

:16:59. > :17:08.Find out exactly how much this world record`breaking carrot weighs.

:17:09. > :17:11.And behind the scenes with the dogs trained to sniff ott danger

:17:12. > :17:22.Boxing, and Kell Brook is b`ck at home in Sheffield recovering

:17:23. > :17:28.Brook, who became IBF World Welterweight Champion in August was

:17:29. > :17:32.stabbed while on a night out in the early hours of last Thursday.

:17:33. > :17:36.It has emerged that he was `ttacked by someone using a machete

:17:37. > :17:39.and reports suggest the main wound is around 12 inches long.

:17:40. > :17:42.His left leg is now in plaster, and details of how long

:17:43. > :17:49.his wounds may take to heal are unlikely to emerge for a few weeks.

:17:50. > :17:52.It's now two weeks since Dave Hockaday was sacked as Leeds

:17:53. > :17:54.United head coach, and therd's still no sign of a permanent repl`cement.

:17:55. > :17:57.That means academy boss Neil Redfearn takes charge `gain

:17:58. > :18:01.for tomorrow's lunchtime kick`off against Birmingham City.

:18:02. > :18:04.And he says despite the uncdrtainty, he's confident about

:18:05. > :18:19.I've had six years at this club We've got it to a stage where it in

:18:20. > :18:24.a real good position. It is developing. There are kids hn the

:18:25. > :18:28.first team. It's the tip of the iceberg. Underneath we have kids who

:18:29. > :18:33.are just as good if not better. At the moment we are sitting on a gold

:18:34. > :18:34.mine regarding young talent coming through. I'm very enthusiastic about

:18:35. > :18:36.that. This weekend it's the final round

:18:37. > :18:40.of regular matches, which sorts out More importantly, it decides who you

:18:41. > :18:44.face in the play`offs next week Castleford Tigers travel to France

:18:45. > :18:46.to play Catalans tomorrow. Their fantastic year could still

:18:47. > :18:49.bring them the League Leaders Shield, depending on St Heldns'

:18:50. > :18:58.result at Huddersfield tonight. It's on over the weekend, and this

:18:59. > :19:36.year's warm Summer has been great It is the season of mists and fruit.

:19:37. > :19:42.It can only be the Harrogatd Autumn flower show. We have a bonanza of

:19:43. > :19:46.prudence, barrowload of veg and inspirational for the smalldst of

:19:47. > :19:53.plants. Welcome to inspirathon Street. It's the home of a show

:19:54. > :19:58.stopping frontages. Don't worry about mowing the lawn, its fate

:19:59. > :20:02.This recycled garden made bx groundwork in Normanton won a gold

:20:03. > :20:09.medal. It's lanterns are recycled from discarded Leeds festiv`l tents.

:20:10. > :20:16.Front gardens can be neglected. People tend to look at the back

:20:17. > :20:19.garden. The front garden is not just the place with dustbins. It's the

:20:20. > :20:23.first thing people see when they come to your property. We w`nted to

:20:24. > :20:33.celebrate that by bringing hn colour and structure. That is nearly big

:20:34. > :20:38.enough to harass this beast. As usual, the giant veg is pulling in

:20:39. > :20:46.the punters. Meet Joe Atherton, Barrera built Britain's biggest

:20:47. > :20:54.bean. You don't need plenty of feet, just plenty of water. Here hs a new

:20:55. > :20:55.world champion. A ?20 capit`l. The heaviest `` the heaviest evdr

:20:56. > :21:09.recorded on earth. This is a tremendous jump for me.

:21:10. > :21:10.The habit, the glorious mixture of method and madness that is the

:21:11. > :21:21.flower show. During our visit to Camp Bastion

:21:22. > :21:24.last week we met many incredible But we could not leave without

:21:25. > :21:27.meeting the canine members military working dogs fulfil

:21:28. > :21:31.a vital role both in protecting the base, and also helping soldiers

:21:32. > :21:33.when they're on patrol. Here's what happened

:21:34. > :21:47.when I went to see them trahn. Look at that control. The work it

:21:48. > :21:55.takes many different forms but the role of the is very important. We

:21:56. > :22:01.are going to give you a bit of a snapshot into what they do here

:22:02. > :22:05.There are over 30 military dogs in Camp Bastion. Their training is

:22:06. > :22:09.intense and very impressive to watch. They are used virtually every

:22:10. > :22:17.day. One of our main roles hs to keep people safe, to ensure people

:22:18. > :22:24.are searched and not bringing any explosives into the camp. The dogs

:22:25. > :22:32.are well luck after. My job here is to make sure the dogs stay happy and

:22:33. > :22:36.healthy. I work with the vet to look after the whole fleet of dogs to

:22:37. > :22:44.make sure we give them prevdntative health care. Here at Camp B`stion

:22:45. > :22:50.there is a zero tolerance towards drugs. We've gathered this line of

:22:51. > :22:51.dubious cat tours. One of us is carrying something we shouldn't The

:22:52. > :23:13.dog will tell us which one. It's me. Clearly he doesn't like

:23:14. > :23:21.yellow. And then there is try. He can like that ammunition,

:23:22. > :23:25.explosives. We use the wall to train the dog is an new sounds. Wd hide

:23:26. > :23:37.tiny pieces of explosives in the wall. The dog will sniff and

:23:38. > :23:48.indicate. Many moments wherd, just take a look at these. You'vd been a

:23:49. > :24:03.brilliant interviewee, well done. Set. Set. Sit. Look at the control I

:24:04. > :24:20.have. The whole aspect of Camp Bastion is

:24:21. > :24:31.so professional. Thank you to the MoD forgiveness the chance to film

:24:32. > :24:37.there. There is an increased risk of showers. A bit misty and murky to

:24:38. > :24:49.start but brightening up. Let's take a look at some

:24:50. > :25:01.photographs before we get on with the fire

:25:02. > :25:32.The cloud a little bit more extensive on Sunday. After ` great

:25:33. > :25:37.start tomorrow, it looks like a dry and bright day. There is a small

:25:38. > :25:42.risk of the odd shower but lost places enjoying fine weather. It's

:25:43. > :25:47.all down to this area of high pressure keeping our weather pattern

:25:48. > :25:51.settled for the time being. A little bit more unsettled for Mond`y and
