:00:51. > :00:56.the Home Affairs Select Comlittee, among those calling on her to go.

:01:42. > :01:44.Full independence was rejected by the Referendum Vote in Scotland.

:01:45. > :01:46.The Prime Minister has promhsed greater powers for England,

:01:51. > :01:53.So if Scotland has control over its own economy, what will that mean

:01:54. > :02:09.So it follows that the people of England, Wales and Northern Ireland

:02:37. > :02:39.And in comparison to Scotland, the population here is about the

:02:40. > :02:42.So what does the public in Xorkshire want?

:02:45. > :02:47.If they give the power to the people that are up here,

:02:48. > :02:52.I think they'll be able to do more about it than the people in London.

:02:53. > :02:54.Politicians spend too much loney at the moment anyway,

:02:59. > :03:01.I think there might be some scope for some kind

:03:02. > :03:03.of local bodies to vary tax`tion and raise taxation locally

:03:04. > :03:07.There was just one Council of the North 350 years ago.

:03:08. > :03:09.Today, at least four different Yorkshire

:03:10. > :03:12.bodies might have chunks of power in any town or city across the county.

:03:13. > :03:15.We have lots and lots of laxers of local government.

:03:16. > :03:19.And how do we get that more streamlined and how do we gdt people

:03:20. > :03:21.working between the different parts of Yorkshire?

:03:22. > :03:23.The government has promised that now that the count is over,

:03:24. > :03:26.they will start negotiating with the Scottish Parliament tod`y.

:03:27. > :03:28.There must be plenty of voices in Yorkshire saying,

:03:29. > :03:36.Speaking earlier on Look North, Stewart Arnold,

:03:37. > :03:39.deputy leader of Yorkshire First, called for a regional parli`ment

:03:40. > :03:43.while Peter Box, leader of Wakefield Council, disagreed.

:03:44. > :03:46.If it was put to the people of Yorkshire now we might gdt

:03:47. > :03:49.It makes no sense to have policy micro`managed from a desk

:03:50. > :03:54.Stuart I don't think understands what people really think,

:03:55. > :03:58.which is they don't want more politicians, they do not want

:03:59. > :04:03.How many people would be in this Yorkshire Parliament?

:04:12. > :04:16.Austin Brayford, who's 33, pleaded guilty to murdering Helen D`wson and

:04:17. > :04:21.Police found their bodies in a house near the city centre

:04:22. > :04:26.Brayford will be sentenced `t Leeds Crown Court in October.

:04:27. > :04:28.South Yorkshire councils ard putting in more money to brhng high

:04:29. > :04:32.Last year, the similar Digital Region project, collapsed h`ving

:04:33. > :04:38.Now a new deal has been signed with BT and the project will be run

:04:39. > :04:42.South Yorkshire will pay another ?7 million to try and achieve hts

:04:43. > :04:49.original aim of getting 98% of homes fibre broadband by the end of 2 17.

:04:50. > :04:51.Well, I think it has put us in a good position.

:04:52. > :04:54.Without that investment, we wouldn't be where we are today.

:04:55. > :04:56.Historically, South Yorkshire has always lagged behind.

:04:57. > :04:59.We are always at the bottom of peoples' lists when it comes to

:05:00. > :05:01.investment and infrastructure and what Digital Region did was drag

:05:02. > :05:09.Shop owners in Bakewell say trade is down by 60% since major road

:05:10. > :05:13.Gas mains are being replaced in the town centre and people have

:05:14. > :05:16.been put off going there because of the queues into the town.

:05:17. > :05:19.The National Grid says the work is essential and once it's

:05:20. > :05:30.completed, it won't have to be done again for another 80 years.

:05:31. > :05:34.We are at least 60% down on figures from last year's takings.

:05:35. > :05:39.This is the time of year whdn the kids go back to school, the older

:05:40. > :05:42.generation go on holiday and we can carry on with a good season well up
