:01:27. > :01:32.Blake Bailey was walking his girlfriend home last week. The next

:01:52. > :01:55.you have done to us. Back home after a week in hospital, it will be a

:01:56. > :01:59.painful recovery for Blake. Aside from his head injury he has a broken

:02:00. > :02:05.shoulder and pelvis. Blake `nd Jessica were walking around the rose

:02:06. > :02:10.two words the village. He w`s work that mac walking desk at hole when a

:02:11. > :02:14.car can read the corner, motnted the pavement and hit them. It could have

:02:15. > :02:21.been a lot worse. Jessica s`ys Blake saved her life. It came up onto the

:02:22. > :02:27.curb and towards me and Blake pushed me out of the way. It went over my

:02:28. > :02:32.foot and straight towards Blake The driver did not stop, but police

:02:33. > :02:36.believe it may have been a stolen car. We are particularly interested

:02:37. > :02:42.in locating enables wagon golf with blacked out windows and a black and

:02:43. > :02:47.silver distinctive alloy whdels We now that a beer similar to do was

:02:48. > :02:52.sold in the area. We would like the driver or anyone with any knowledge

:02:53. > :02:58.of this vehicle or its wherdabouts to contact us so we can elilinate it

:02:59. > :03:01.from our enquiries. The imp`ct was so violent that Blake ended up in

:03:02. > :03:08.the bushes by the side of the road. He is worried he is scarred for

:03:09. > :03:13.life. I was so scared. I'm scared of showing people. Do you think you

:03:14. > :03:21.will be how does that make xou feel? I think people are gohng to

:03:22. > :03:26.say stuff. I just have to lhve with it for the rest of my life. He's

:03:27. > :03:32.only 16 and has two live with these skies for the rest of his lhfe. He

:03:33. > :03:37.has them permanently. I just want someone to come forward. We all wish

:03:38. > :03:39.Blake very speedy recovery. In the past hour MPs have voted

:03:40. > :03:41.in favour of British air strikes against

:03:42. > :03:44.Islamic State extremists in Iraq. It means RAF jets could be

:03:45. > :03:46.bombing targets by this weekend The majority

:03:47. > :03:50.of Yorkshire MPs were in favour of military intervention except for the

:03:51. > :03:55.Bradford West MP George Galloway. Speaking in the Commons,

:03:56. > :03:58.he said Britain's involvement would Turkey is a NATO member,

:03:59. > :04:07.get Turkey to bomb! The last people who should be

:04:08. > :04:10.returning to the scene of their former crimes are Britain, France

:04:11. > :04:14.and the United States of Amdrica! Well, the decision is being welcomed

:04:15. > :04:20.by many Kurdish refugees who've fled Northern Iraq over the past decade

:04:21. > :04:25.and made a life here in Yorkshire. They're worried that loved ones back

:04:26. > :04:28.home might suffer at the hands of Islamic State if the West

:04:29. > :04:31.doesn't intervene. Our Communities Correspondent

:04:32. > :04:46.Jhangir Ahmed has been speaking to These are tense times for Ktrds

:04:47. > :04:52.living in Yorkshire. They'rd worried about family and friends living in

:04:53. > :04:58.northern Iraq. A killer by trade, he came to the UK in 2009. His family

:04:59. > :05:05.fled to Syria. He sought asxlum in the UK. Back then, the thre`t was

:05:06. > :05:15.from Al`Qaeda, now, it is from IS. I hope everybody from the UK try to

:05:16. > :05:18.help in Iraq and Syria. To date stopping the IS is better for

:05:19. > :05:25.tomorrow, because tomorrow will be too late. It has leaked sees large

:05:26. > :05:31.parts of Iraq and Syria in recent months. It includes the behdading of

:05:32. > :05:35.terrorists, soldiers and aid workers. The Kurdish forgers are

:05:36. > :05:42.already devising IS on the ground in Iraq. In recent days there have been

:05:43. > :05:48.several US led air strikes. It is a major talking point at best Kurdish

:05:49. > :05:53.restaurant where many are answers about the future. Aged studdnt at

:05:54. > :06:00.Sheffield University came to the UK when he was just 16. We shotld not

:06:01. > :06:09.let terrorist organisations like Isis develop. We can't let `nother

:06:10. > :06:17.seven /7 happen in Britain `gain. If people my age grew up they will

:06:18. > :06:20.attack us as well. Two years ago I did not know about my sister or

:06:21. > :06:26.ma'am. The worries about falily back home continue. But many kids ``

:06:27. > :06:28.Kurds hope the air strikes will bring peace back to their own ``

:06:29. > :06:28.homeland. action in Iraq. He's also c`rried

:06:29. > :06:35.out an unscientific survey `mong his He joins us now live

:06:36. > :06:50.from Westminster. What kind of response did you get? I

:06:51. > :06:57.got 1500 of them responding yesterday and this morning, 70% in

:06:58. > :07:03.favour of action, 8% don't know 22% against. It was a pretty

:07:04. > :07:07.overwhelming view. I did not give them my view so I did not bhased it.

:07:08. > :07:13.But it concurs with my view that air strikes should take place in Iraq,

:07:14. > :07:18.but I don't think we need to see British soldiers there as prolonged

:07:19. > :07:21.the involvement. You talk about British soldiers, they might be

:07:22. > :07:28.supporting the idea of action, what happens when this message `` mission

:07:29. > :07:33.creep ad ground troops do gdt involved? There is no mandate for

:07:34. > :07:39.that, and I would not be in favour of that. It is not what is needed.

:07:40. > :07:47.What is needed is other countries to step up to the mark, includhng the

:07:48. > :07:50.Arab countries who have been already participating in bombing thdse

:07:51. > :07:53.terrorists. We need to encotrage them and also offer them sole

:07:54. > :07:59.support of our own. That is what this would does. It is a slhppery

:08:00. > :08:08.slope. This could quickly bdcome a full`scale war. Are you confident

:08:09. > :08:11.you will regret this decision? I'm in June with their thinking. But I

:08:12. > :08:21.disagree that it is a slippdry slope. That mac in June there is no

:08:22. > :08:25.need for us to get involved again or to have soldiers on the grotnd. That

:08:26. > :08:29.is a role for the other Arab countries to sort out the mdss that

:08:30. > :08:34.is bare. We can assist them along with the French and Americans and

:08:35. > :08:37.others in the short term, and to actually take on this terrorist

:08:38. > :08:39.organisation, I think it is appropriate considering what they

:08:40. > :08:44.have been doing in recent months that we do so. Thank you very much.

:08:45. > :08:47.And you can get more reactions here in Yorkshire on

:08:48. > :08:50.the decision to launch military action in Iraq on Sunday Politics.

:08:51. > :08:59.The residents who took the law into their own hands to do something

:09:00. > :09:07.In other news now, and UK Coal has confirmed it's

:09:08. > :09:10.secured the ?20 million it needed to carry out a managed closure

:09:11. > :09:16.The pit near Pontefract is expected to be

:09:17. > :09:20.The deal will also see the closure of Thoresby Colliery

:09:21. > :09:25.The money includes a commercial loan of ?4 million from the Government.

:09:26. > :09:28.Both the unions and the loc`l MP, Yvette Cooper, have condemndd

:09:29. > :09:31.the deal, saying there needs to be a long term plan to save thd pits.

:09:32. > :09:33.But UK Coal's director of communications, Andrew MacKhntosh,

:09:34. > :09:46.In the last three years we have had disasters all through those years.

:09:47. > :09:50.We have lost the mine in Warwickshire, the coal pricds

:09:51. > :09:55.remained low and the pound remained strong. Extremely difficult

:09:56. > :10:00.trading. Difficult as it is, unless we get a miracle that mac mhracle

:10:01. > :10:02.Russian billionaire who wants to I us or more state aid, then our

:10:03. > :10:04.future is a fairly short ond. A research

:10:05. > :10:06.and development facility run by Tata It says its new centre

:10:07. > :10:09.at the University of Warwick will provide a critical

:10:10. > :10:13.mass of research excellence. More than 100 staff at the

:10:14. > :10:15.Swindon Technology Centre are being The company says

:10:16. > :10:22.the move will not happen ovdrnight. Councillors

:10:23. > :10:26.in York have approved plans to build The decision was made

:10:27. > :10:30.at a meeting last night. There'll now be

:10:31. > :10:32.a public consultation A final decision won't be m`de

:10:33. > :10:37.until next year. It's the first day of the UKIP

:10:38. > :10:39.conference in Doncaster. It's being held at the town's

:10:40. > :10:42.racecourse over the next two days. UKIP says the event will kick start

:10:43. > :10:47.its General Election Campaign. It's chosen a traditional L`bour

:10:48. > :10:50.area close to Ed Miliband's Its aim is to demonstrate

:10:51. > :10:55.the party isn't only What's the state

:10:56. > :11:02.of the road where you live? And what would it take for xou to

:11:03. > :11:05.consider repairing it yoursdlf? People living in the villagd

:11:06. > :11:07.of Arksey, near Doncaster, say they were so fed up with

:11:08. > :11:10.potholes and speeding drivers that someone resurfaced the road

:11:11. > :11:14.and installed some speed bulps. Only problem was they didn't realise

:11:15. > :11:16.the speed bumps were the wrong height and now

:11:17. > :11:38.the council wants them removed. It is a familiar sight across our

:11:39. > :11:41.region. Potholes. This is a lane in the village. Residents say they have

:11:42. > :11:45.spent years pleading with the council to improve the road. It has

:11:46. > :11:53.always been a terrible mess. The potholes in the winter, it floods.

:11:54. > :11:57.Eight weeks ago, as if by m`gic fresh tarmac was laid and speed

:11:58. > :12:01.bumps put in. But it wasn't the work of the Council. Someone on the

:12:02. > :12:09.street has taken the matter into their own hands. But, beford long,

:12:10. > :12:14.the council had arrived to start taking the illegal speed bulps up.

:12:15. > :12:19.Much to the anger of residents, including John Wade who captured it

:12:20. > :12:21.all on his phone. Everybody that lives on this road was the speed

:12:22. > :12:27.bumps to stay in place. The council have a limited budget and they would

:12:28. > :12:31.spend the money on those portals, yet they will spend it pickhng up it

:12:32. > :12:37.completely perfectly good spec that track section of highway. According

:12:38. > :12:42.to good `` local farmer as the bonds are damaging to tractors. Those

:12:43. > :12:46.speed up have been put in a legally. The second issue is damage to the

:12:47. > :12:51.machines. Because a lot of loney and if something does happen, if there

:12:52. > :12:56.is a break, who is liable to pay for that? Doncaster Council says that as

:12:57. > :13:04.it didn't install the bumps it therefore has a duty to remove them.

:13:05. > :13:07.If I were a resident I would love to keep the traffic calming me`sures.

:13:08. > :13:12.But it is not just about thd size of the bumps, it is about having

:13:13. > :13:15.adequate lighting, signage `nd the consultation must come first. You

:13:16. > :13:19.could say it has been a bumpy few months for the people of artsy. The

:13:20. > :13:21.council is now hoping to look at other improvements to try and smooth

:13:22. > :13:26.things out. Plenty of you have been getting

:13:27. > :13:29.in touch with us on Facebook. If you have a story you'd lhke us to

:13:30. > :14:01.cover here's how you get in touch. Before 7pm we're live at He`dingley

:14:02. > :14:04.for the last match of the sdason. How bringing

:14:05. > :14:06.on young players has transformed Yorkshire County Cricket Cltb's

:14:07. > :14:11.performance in just a few ydars The Barnsley parents having to cope

:14:12. > :14:16.with a second set of twins in less than a year plus

:14:17. > :14:32.their other children. 25 of the best traders in Etrope

:14:33. > :14:36.have gathered in Leeds for ` weekend They've set up their stalls

:14:37. > :14:39.in Millennium Square and ond will It's an industry that's booling

:14:40. > :14:56.in Yorkshire and Leeds has been if you thought street food was all

:14:57. > :15:01.about dodgy burgers and fish and chips, well think again. Here in

:15:02. > :15:03.Leeds, 25 of the top street food retailers in the whole of Etrope

:15:04. > :15:14.have gathered to show off their wares. Leeds has become the centre

:15:15. > :15:17.of street food for the North. We are talking to the council about

:15:18. > :15:20.establishing Leeds as a homd for an academy for street food. It made

:15:21. > :15:25.sense to come. We are the mhddle of the country on these are thd British

:15:26. > :15:28.street food awards. We can just constantly hang out in London. There

:15:29. > :15:35.is so much going on here and it just made sense. In the top 25 h`s great

:15:36. > :15:38.food vendors in Europe are three foreign weeds, all selling very

:15:39. > :15:44.different, high`quality meals from some very creatively thought out

:15:45. > :15:48.stories. What is great about street food and you don't get so mtch of in

:15:49. > :15:55.a normal retail environment is that sense of theatre, that thesd types

:15:56. > :15:59.of units are unique in its own way, has its own story and it is all part

:16:00. > :16:04.of the food that we are tryhng to make look are as look like ` beach

:16:05. > :16:08.hut. It is all part of tellhng that story. The kind of crowd th`t you

:16:09. > :16:13.get is into trying new things. They come over because they want to know

:16:14. > :16:17.what it is. They don't need to limit or go through it, and then we talk

:16:18. > :16:21.them through it and it is ftn for them to learn about a new ctisine.

:16:22. > :16:26.We have come to Leeds to give people the opportunity to try it bdcause if

:16:27. > :16:30.you get it in London you want to get it anywhere in the north. I bought

:16:31. > :16:35.it about six months ago and I converted it from a blue horsebox

:16:36. > :16:40.into a place Jews serve Indhan street food. I go to festiv`ls, all

:16:41. > :16:44.over the UK. You have all wdekend to sample the street food and the

:16:45. > :16:54.winner of the best British street food vendor will be announcdd on

:16:55. > :16:58.Sunday. I don't fancy using anything out of the back of a horsebox.

:16:59. > :17:00.Well, what an amazing end to Yorkshire's cricket season.

:17:01. > :17:02.They were already crowned County Champions before going

:17:03. > :17:10.Let's cross live to Paul Ogden at Headingley.

:17:11. > :17:19.It has been nail`biting. Yot would think there was something at stake

:17:20. > :17:24.today. That champions chip victory has been in the bag for a couple of

:17:25. > :17:28.weeks now. Today we saw Yorkshire almost snatched victory frol the

:17:29. > :17:31.jaws of defeat. Over my shotlder you might be able to pick out the

:17:32. > :17:34.Yorkshire players who don't want to leave the field, even though the

:17:35. > :17:44.match has been drawn in the past 20 minutes against Somerset. Yorkshire

:17:45. > :17:49.were all out. A target of 182 and from 62`1 they were reduced from 130

:17:50. > :17:56.odds for nine. Yorkshire trhes to stay still out but couldn't quite

:17:57. > :18:02.make it. A really emotional welcome home for the Yorkshire squad. Coach

:18:03. > :18:07.Jason Gillespie by a sizeable crowd here. It could best to the dnd, he

:18:08. > :18:13.really wanted that victory on the final day. We showed why we are

:18:14. > :18:16.champions today with that comeback. Somerset were in a pretty good

:18:17. > :18:24.position when they played rdally good cricket this year. We found a

:18:25. > :18:30.way to come back for an unlhkely win, so really pleased for the boys.

:18:31. > :18:36.I don't know about you, but I've been asking myself a lot about what

:18:37. > :18:40.infrastructure league lies behind Yorkshire's success.

:18:41. > :18:42.Yorkshire's emphatic capturd of the County Championship leans

:18:43. > :18:45.they can simply enjoy today's play, but how have they managed to do

:18:46. > :18:47.so well just three years after the team was relegated?

:18:48. > :18:50.The secret seems to be in the benefits of growing your own.

:18:51. > :18:54.It is late September and on a soggy afternoon Yorkshire's Acadely side

:18:55. > :18:58.As with the seniors, it has been a successful ond.

:18:59. > :19:01.They won the Yorkshire Premher League and cup and five of the squad

:19:02. > :19:04.made the England and U19s tdam which thrashed South Africa this summer.

:19:05. > :19:08.They grew up together and become really good friends.

:19:09. > :19:11.When that happens and you gdt into a sticky situation thex will

:19:12. > :19:16.These guys will put serious pressure on the ones above

:19:17. > :19:21.Some of these young players have already been given a chance

:19:22. > :19:26.Last year Matthew Fisher became the youngest ever cricketer to play in a

:19:27. > :19:34.Now, at the ripe old age of 16, he is balancing his studies with

:19:35. > :19:41.learning with some of the bdst in the world at Headingley.

:19:42. > :19:44.Once you get into that environment and you're playing with the likes

:19:45. > :19:47.of Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Tim Bresnan and Gary Ballance, who all

:19:48. > :19:55.played for England, obviously you're going to come on leaps and bounds

:19:56. > :19:57.just from being around thosd sort of guys. The production lind

:19:58. > :20:00.of talent which thrust Matthew forward has led to Yorkshird feeding

:20:01. > :20:05.far more home`grown players than any other team in the champhonship.

:20:06. > :20:08.Amongst most of their rivals for the title,

:20:09. > :20:12.no more than one third of their players originate from that county.

:20:13. > :20:15.At Yorkshire the home`grown ratio is double.

:20:16. > :20:21.Most of those players came through the academy.

:20:22. > :20:25.They are all brought up in the same area.

:20:26. > :20:28.They're all brought up in the same kind of way of playing cricket.

:20:29. > :20:38.That pride in playing for the county.

:20:39. > :20:54.Many expect that there is f`r more to come from this generation.

:20:55. > :21:00.It has been Yorkshire's season on the cricket field. It might still be

:21:01. > :21:01.Yorkshire's season in super league, but we only have one candid`te

:21:02. > :21:04.In Super League, we have just one candidate left for a Grand Final

:21:05. > :21:08.And Huddersfield Giants need to beat Catalans tonight to keep

:21:09. > :21:11.Castleford's season ended l`st night when they were eliminated

:21:12. > :21:17.And their coach Daryl Powell admitted afterwards that his squad

:21:18. > :21:25.suffered in the end from thd rigours of that run to the Challengd Cup

:21:26. > :21:30.Ultimately we needed another 10% from everyone.

:21:31. > :21:37.I'd recommend booking some time in front of the telly this weekend

:21:38. > :21:44.because it's the Road Racing World Championships in Spain.

:21:45. > :21:46.On Sunday, Team Sky's Ben Swift from Rotherham

:21:47. > :21:51.And tomorrow could be the day that our

:21:52. > :21:57.Commonwealth Queen Lizzie Armitstead goes to the very top of the world.

:21:58. > :22:03.She leads Team GB's women in Ponferrada.

:22:04. > :22:08.And the short sharp climbs on the course will be perfect

:22:09. > :22:27.You can watch it live on BBC One and BBC Two.
