:01:19. > :01:23.It's been part of the Scarborough coastline since 1921,
:01:24. > :01:26.but today councillors voted to demolish the Futurist Theatre,
:01:27. > :01:31.Getting rid of the theatre has been described as leaving Scarborough
:01:32. > :01:37.And today there were lots of angry people in the council meeting.
:01:38. > :01:39.Phil Bodmer is in Scarborough for us.
:01:40. > :01:48.Phil, this was a very close decision?
:01:49. > :01:55.Yes, it was, very narrow indeed, Harry. 22 vote is 221 to knock down
:01:56. > :02:02.the Futurist Theatre, clear the site and help stabilise the cliffs at a
:02:03. > :02:07.cost of ?4 million. It seems the night this grand old lady's days are
:02:08. > :02:11.finally numbered. For 96 years the Futurist Theatre has played host to
:02:12. > :02:16.the great and good show business, the likes of Shirley Bassey, the
:02:17. > :02:22.Beatles and Ken Dodd to name just a few but the conservative run council
:02:23. > :02:25.cabinet says the Futurist is not sustainable as a theatrical venue
:02:26. > :02:29.and today that narrow majority of councillors voted in favour of
:02:30. > :02:30.demolition. This was reaction problem council after the historic
:02:31. > :02:34.boat. People have come forward with ideas
:02:35. > :02:39.but in my opinion they haven't backed them up with a proper
:02:40. > :02:42.business case to show that after any refurbishment has been done
:02:43. > :02:44.and reconfiguration had been carried out that it would provide
:02:45. > :02:59.the sustainable Theatre to operate I have had a lot of e-mails about
:03:00. > :03:04.the anger about this decision but a very contentious decision, wasn't
:03:05. > :03:07.it? Yes, it was contentious. There were many people in the town who
:03:08. > :03:11.believe that the Futurist if they still a durable and those who wanted
:03:12. > :03:15.to keep it as a going concern marched from the railway station
:03:16. > :03:19.down to the Townhall, attending this meeting which started at 2pm. It was
:03:20. > :03:23.at times a bit and acrimonious meeting as they really wanted more
:03:24. > :03:30.time to look at alternatives. After this boat today I spoke to one
:03:31. > :03:31.particular campaigner who was very emotional and she explained her
:03:32. > :03:33.reaction to the day's decision. Did you expect that it
:03:34. > :03:54.could have been saved? So, you can see the effect it has on
:03:55. > :03:57.some people. It has polarised opinion in this town as I am sure
:03:58. > :04:02.you are aware, for those in favour of retaining it and for those who
:04:03. > :04:06.want to see the back of it. Some say it is a blot on the landscape but
:04:07. > :04:11.tonight it seems that the Futurist Theatre's days are finally numbered.
:04:12. > :04:17.But, we don't know the timescale yet. There are developers, branding
:04:18. > :04:23.the land has looked at ideas to put a roller-coaster in place. Without
:04:24. > :04:28.I'm likely to see the bulldozers on site any time before after the
:04:29. > :04:29.summer, in the autumn. Thank you. Some really big names through those
:04:30. > :04:32.doors over the years. An inquest has heard
:04:33. > :04:34.that a man who was found dead alongside his wife,

:05:29. > :05:31.that as their marriage deteriorated, Mr Ashworth tried to take his own
:05:32. > :05:34.life by poisoning himself with Following in his suicide attempt
:05:35. > :05:45.on the 22nd of March 2014, Martin Ashworth agreed to be

:09:39. > :09:47.back and that was it. We got back and they said he has had a massive
:09:48. > :09:50.lead on the brain. Nihal Weerasena did not appear before the tribunal
:09:51. > :09:55.today but said in a letter he was being made a scapegoat for

:15:14. > :15:20.Yes, he had had just over one year, which is almost a long time for some

:15:24. > :15:26.have the budget that some of the League 1 clubs have and they are up
:15:27. > :15:30.against Bradford city, a good side, and they had a bigger budget. Let us
:15:31. > :15:36.have a look at the fours that defeated them. Here is Mark Marshall
:15:37. > :15:41.with the first one. There were chances for Chesterfield, Chad Evans
:15:42. > :15:45.in particular, but it is quite a young squad. They have had the
:15:46. > :15:49.budget cutback and it is hard to know who they are going to go for
:15:50. > :15:52.now. They say they don't want to be on the managerial merry-go-round, an
:15:53. > :15:56.interesting thing to say when you have only given a manager a year,
:15:57. > :15:57.but that is what they have said and this is who they think they want
:15:58. > :15:57.next. We're looking for somebody
:15:58. > :16:00.that is maybe a young, enthusiastic, somebody who is obviously familiar
:16:01. > :16:03.with League 1 who can come in and hit the ground running
:16:04. > :16:07.but we are looking for somebody you also have some enthusiasm
:16:08. > :16:10.about them and some fire, wanting to go forward,
:16:11. > :16:12.take this club forward and can immediately come
:16:13. > :16:24.in and make an impact. They want in patent and fire,
:16:25. > :16:29.something Sheffield United seem to have at the moment? They certainly
:16:30. > :16:34.have that, Sheffield United are top and going extremely well. They beat
:16:35. > :16:39.Southend 4-2 and it looked really, ready comfortable. Four golf and Lee
:16:40. > :16:48.Sharpe, who has been in credible and not score any of them. That is their
:16:49. > :16:53.first goal. Really good goals. The setup, the way they play in, a lot
:16:54. > :16:56.of patience and confidence. Chris has talked about changing the whole
:16:57. > :17:00.environment around Sheffield Wednesday and are playing some
:17:01. > :17:02.really great football and the goals coming from a whole host of
:17:03. > :17:07.different people. They are ball points clear at the top ahead of
:17:08. > :17:11.Scunthorpe, six points clear of Bolton in third and I don't like to
:17:12. > :17:13.make predictions but they are going up, I bet? I think so, yes.
:17:14. > :17:18.Hopefully automatically, too. In the FA Cup, Huddersfield Town
:17:19. > :17:22.are our only team sure of a place The Terriers beat Port Vale 4-0
:17:23. > :17:26.on Saturday, while Barnsley face a replay and both Rotherham
:17:27. > :17:28.and Sheffield Wednesday went out. There have been plenty of cheers
:17:29. > :17:32.at Huddersfield town this season. Their fourth in the league, but this
:17:33. > :17:35.was David Wagner's first cup win since joining the Terriers
:17:36. > :17:37.14 months ago. This move was typical of the playing
:17:38. > :17:40.style he's brought to the club. Neat passing out from the back,
:17:41. > :17:44.Jack Payne finishing well. Palmer's deflected
:17:45. > :17:50.shot doubled the lead. Harry Bon made it three nil and pain
:17:51. > :17:53.had a somewhat easier finish to round off nicely
:17:54. > :17:55.for a happy head coach. We have to speed up the game,
:17:56. > :17:59.accelerate in every situation where you can and we scored some
:18:00. > :18:01.wonderful goals and it was The cup proved the briefest
:18:02. > :18:08.of distractions from Rotherham's relegation worries,
:18:09. > :18:10.despite Lewis Price's penalty save and Danny Ward's powerful
:18:11. > :18:12.strike, the Millers lost 3-2 Hemmings scored the winner and then
:18:13. > :18:18.set about destroying I wonder if they've
:18:19. > :18:25.sent him the bill? Sheffield Wednesday had the toughest
:18:26. > :18:28.test, away at Premier League 0-0 at half-time, the signs
:18:29. > :18:31.were good until Grant Seconds later, Fernando Forestieri
:18:32. > :18:37.burst through but Daniel Ayala had no intention of letting him
:18:38. > :18:40.reach the ball. Surely Wednesday's chances
:18:41. > :18:49.would improve against ten men? But keeper Joe Wilde Smith's mistake
:18:50. > :18:51.put Boro out of sight. And once the captain Colin Houlihan
:18:52. > :19:01.had two good chances to win it late on against Blackpool
:19:02. > :19:03.but they will replay next Tuesday Hopefully a few more
:19:04. > :19:08.people will turn up. Leeds United are away
:19:09. > :19:11.at Cambridge tonight, and the fourth round draw is live
:19:12. > :19:16.over on BBC Two at 7pm. The Rugby Football League has

:19:56. > :19:59.a World Cup and I'm really happy that I want it here and I'm hoping
:20:00. > :20:02.there's more to come. I'd love to get another podium
:20:03. > :20:05.and hopefully win it in Qu bec as well so I'll just keep pushing
