:00:20. > :00:27.I will be joining Lara in a short while not only for the weather for

:00:28. > :00:36.the next 24 hours but also hnto the weekend.

:00:37. > :00:40.Good evening. Campaigners fhghting changes to hospital services in

:00:41. > :00:45.Huddersfield have been dealt a major blow today. NHS leaders votdd

:00:46. > :00:51.unanimously in favour for moving forward with plans that include

:00:52. > :00:55.relocating the A Department of the Calderdale hospital in Halifax. The

:00:56. > :00:57.proposals will now be developed in greater detail

:00:58. > :01:22.Decision day and a now familiar chant.

:01:23. > :01:24.At two o'clock the meeting began but we were not

:01:25. > :01:27.The live stream of the meeting picked up the

:01:28. > :01:29.frequent interruptions demonstrating the emotionally charged atmosphere.

:01:30. > :01:31.Shall I continue or wait for a quiet.

:01:32. > :01:32.The two hospitals are five

:01:33. > :01:34.miles apart and currently provide a wide range of services.

:01:35. > :01:38.Under the plans Calderdale Royal Hospital

:01:39. > :01:42.would become a centre for elergency care including A, and

:01:43. > :01:45.a specialist department for sick children.

:01:46. > :01:54.Huddersfield Royal Infirmarx would be demolished,

:01:55. > :01:57.replaced by a smaller hospital to deal with planned care like routine

:01:58. > :02:02.Both centres would have urgent care centres.

:02:03. > :02:13.The local NHS has always maintained their proposal as the

:02:14. > :02:15.best option to deliver patidnt care and affordability but they have

:02:16. > :02:17.been fiercely criticised by campaigners, local MPs, `nd

:02:18. > :02:26.In favour of the recommendations, please raise your hands.

:02:27. > :02:34.At half past three, to cries of shame, the

:02:35. > :02:39.commissioning group for Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield

:02:40. > :02:41.supported unanimously to move the plans forward and develop

:02:42. > :02:43.in greater detail what is c`lled the full

:02:44. > :02:47.Neither of these hospitals are what people believe thel to be.

:02:48. > :02:49.They are not fully staffed district general hospitals.

:02:50. > :02:52.They have half the services in one town and half the

:02:53. > :02:55.By putting every special together in the same

:02:56. > :02:58.hospital will mean that if you are very

:02:59. > :03:10.They might as well build more cemeteries and be done that.

:03:11. > :03:14.Today's decision means the plans move forward.

:03:15. > :03:16.The campaigners have alreadx said the

:03:17. > :03:30.Jamie, what happens next? It was a big decision today but it doesn t

:03:31. > :03:35.mean the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary will be demolished next

:03:36. > :03:39.week. What the local NHS have effectively done is to decide to

:03:40. > :03:43.move these proposals to the next stage, which is called the full

:03:44. > :03:47.business case where they will go into greater detail about these

:03:48. > :03:51.plans and answer some of thd questions raised as part of the

:03:52. > :03:58.consultation. That will takd around six months and even then those plans

:03:59. > :04:02.will still have to be approved. The local authorities could still refer

:04:03. > :04:08.this matter to the Health Sdcretary, they meet in the middle of November

:04:09. > :04:11.to decide their next steps. The local medical committee tod`y said

:04:12. > :04:15.they are considering a posshble vote of no-confidence in the clinical

:04:16. > :04:20.commissioning group which in itself would be extremely unusual. The

:04:21. > :04:24.campaigners themselves are talking about a possible legal challenge

:04:25. > :04:37.further down the line. This is by no means over yet. Thank you, Jamie.

:04:38. > :04:57.Later are defending a 6000 ,- this has been unusual campaign in

:04:58. > :05:01.Huddersfield, hasn't it? A little history is being made here. In the

:05:02. > :05:07.past serving MPs have been assassinated and murdered, lost

:05:08. > :05:12.recently in the 1980s, largdly by the IRA, but at the by-election the

:05:13. > :05:16.mainstream parties have put up candidates. What we are seehng here

:05:17. > :05:20.is completely different. Thd expectation is that turnout will be

:05:21. > :05:27.low. We haven't got the offhcial figures yet. It isn't surprhsing

:05:28. > :05:30.because the second, fourth `nd fifth parties last year at the general

:05:31. > :05:35.election are not standing, `nd between them a year ago thex took

:05:36. > :05:40.over 50% of the voters that turned out. Some people are suggesting this

:05:41. > :05:45.will be a walkover for Labotr, would you say that is the case? Couldn't

:05:46. > :05:52.argue with that because there are nine other candidates. Most are

:05:53. > :05:57.people no one has ever heard of they are not likely to trouble the

:05:58. > :06:02.path of Labour. The expectation is that by one o'clock in the lorning

:06:03. > :06:10.when we expect this result to come in, the Labour candidate will be the

:06:11. > :06:14.next MP. Thank you. Detectives investigating a fire which killed a

:06:15. > :06:22.father and his eight-year-old daughter in Wakefield are treating

:06:23. > :06:26.their deaths as murder. Entre - police say the fire started by the

:06:27. > :06:30.front door and believe accelerant may have been used. Because the fire

:06:31. > :06:34.has taken hold so quickly, ht is possible the person who set fire to

:06:35. > :06:38.the house may have some burn injuries so if anyone has any

:06:39. > :06:45.information with respect to anyone from 4:20am yesterday, with injuries

:06:46. > :06:49.like that, please tell the police and come forward.

:06:50. > :06:54.More than 8000 people passed through the doors of Leeds' brand-ndw

:06:55. > :06:58.shopping centre in its first hour of business today. The developlent has

:06:59. > :07:02.pushed Leeds upped the retahl rankings but some traders at nearby

:07:03. > :07:11.markets say that for them btsiness has never been worse.

:07:12. > :07:14.Few shopping centres have bden as anticipated as this one

:07:15. > :07:16.and eager shoppers had to sht through an elaborate opening

:07:17. > :07:18.ceremony before they were fhnally allowed through the doors

:07:19. > :07:26.Economically, this is big ndws for the city and it pushes Leeds up

:07:27. > :07:28.the retail rankings to numbdr three behind London and Manchester

:07:29. > :07:31.shopping and it is the only major scheme to open anywhere

:07:32. > :07:43.It is transporting you back to a different time

:07:44. > :07:51.The difference between this side and the other side,

:07:52. > :07:54.because we tend to go to thd market, the difference between that

:07:55. > :08:15.shows the quality of life of different people.

:08:16. > :08:25.Market traders say it has ddcimated footfall. They have done nothing to

:08:26. > :08:30.help us. This is my family's livelihood and it has been `ll my

:08:31. > :08:35.life, so to see their busindsses and my family's business struggling the

:08:36. > :08:41.way it has is really disheartening. It has been a long build, btt going

:08:42. > :08:46.forward both the council and the developers of Victoria Gate believe

:08:47. > :08:51.the impact will be positive. It brings people back into this rather

:08:52. > :08:56.redundant part of the city. This was a redundant and a police st`tion. We

:08:57. > :09:00.have turned it into a place where all people in Leeds will be proud

:09:01. > :09:03.of, working with the markets will bring more people into this part of

:09:04. > :09:26.Leeds. The sun was shining over Ledds today

:09:27. > :09:29.but will it stay that way? It looks like it will, into the

:09:30. > :09:33.weekend we could see some lovely autumnal weather and for thd next

:09:34. > :09:38.few days the key feature of the weather will be this ridge of high

:09:39. > :09:43.pressure. It will bring unsdttled weather. This week whether from Lott

:09:44. > :09:49.really bothering us, we could seize showers out of it but it will clear

:09:50. > :09:57.off the scene. All of the b`d weather staying to the west over the

:09:58. > :10:01.Atlantic. Many areas will bd dry overnight and just a light wind

:10:02. > :10:06.Temperatures dipping quite low overnight, and we could see values

:10:07. > :10:10.down to 5 degrees with some starry skies, perhaps even a littld bit of

:10:11. > :10:15.mist and fog 's first thing on Friday morning. Friday mornhng gets

:10:16. > :10:20.off to a bright start. It whll be chilly for stepping out and we are

:10:21. > :10:23.likely to see some good sunny spells. The cloud will build from

:10:24. > :10:26.the east as we had through the afternoon so there was a sm`ll

:10:27. > :10:31.chance of seeing some fleethng showers moving in with the breeze

:10:32. > :10:36.from the North Sea. Highest chance of seeing some showers along the

:10:37. > :10:44.east coast inland, and tempdratures coming in around 11 or 12 Cdlsius.

:10:45. > :10:48.Subtle changes through the weekend though, the wind will slowlx pick up

:10:49. > :10:52.some strength as we had through Saturday into Sunday, but I think

:10:53. > :10:57.the sunshine will be strongdr on Saturday. On Sunday temperatures

:10:58. > :10:59.struggling to 10 Celsius. In a moment your national forecasts, but

:11:00. > :11:03.now your Temperatures up into double figures.

:11:04. > :11:10.The outlook, mostly dry for the next few days. Now the national outlook.

:11:11. > :11:20.Good evening. We are likely to the all colours of the autumn, tomorrow,

:11:21. > :11:23.fog could be an issue. Today, West has been best. Beautiful sunny

:11:24. > :11:26.spells breaking through the cloud in western areas but running down

:11:27. > :11:30.through North Sea coasts again, a frequent rash of showers. Some

:11:31. > :11:34.coming further inland but look at this picture, a typical story of the

:11:35. > :11:39.Norfolk coast this afternoon, choppy seas and rather threatening looking

:11:40. > :11:42.skies. It stays breezy through the night here and showers die back

:11:43. > :11:47.towards the Norfolk and Suffolk coast. Elsewhere, clear skies. We

:11:48. > :11:51.could see a touch of frost and some sub -- stubborn fog patches in the

:11:52. > :11:54.morning. In rural parts, temperatures could dip close to

:11:55. > :11:58.freezing. It could be the fog that could be an issue first thing, it's

:11:59. > :12:04.worth bearing in mind if you are on the roads early on. Particularly

:12:05. > :12:05.favoured spots looked likely to be central and western areas. This time
