:00:13. > :00:14.The family of a man, who was killed by

:00:15. > :00:16.a South Yorkshire Police horse 16 years ago,

:00:17. > :00:18.are calling for a fresh inquiry into his death.

:00:19. > :00:23.was trampled on before a match in Rotherham.

:00:24. > :00:28.but the footage wasn't shown at the inquest into Terry's death.

:00:29. > :00:30.His widow has spoken to the BBC's Inside Out.

:00:31. > :00:36.Terry Coles, a father and a football fan

:00:37. > :00:39.who lost his life following his team.

:00:40. > :00:43.at the side of Rotherham's old Millmoor ground.

:00:44. > :00:47.There was trouble. Fans were throwing stones.

:00:48. > :00:49.Alan Roberts was another Swansea supporter there that day.

:00:50. > :00:52.16 years on, this is the first time he's been back,

:00:53. > :00:57.the first time he's spoken about what he saw.

:00:58. > :00:59.You could tell by the policd officer's body language.

:01:00. > :01:00.He spotted something, he saw something

:01:01. > :01:06.You know, the horse geed up, I do not know what term

:01:07. > :01:09.they use, the horse term, but the horse went faster.

:01:10. > :01:11.You know, he only took a couple of strides

:01:12. > :01:14.and, as I was turning back to see where the police officer was,

:01:15. > :01:18.The inquest jury declared Terry Coles' death was an accident,

:01:19. > :01:21.but Alan Roberts was never called to give evidence in person

:01:22. > :01:22.and, even more surprisingly, the whole incident

:01:23. > :01:29.but that was never shown to the jury.

:01:30. > :01:31.I actually viewed the tape and, to this day, I'd definhtely

:01:32. > :01:33.say that the horse went directly into his path.

:01:34. > :01:35.A review by the Independent Police Complaints Commission

:01:36. > :01:37.heavily criticised three officers, including the horse rider,

:01:38. > :01:42.PC Dave Lindsay, here leaving the inquest.

:01:43. > :01:44.One of the match commanders, Superintendent Dave Turner,

:01:45. > :01:47.was given a written warning, but his colleague,

:01:48. > :01:50.Chief Inspector Paul Croplex, and PC Lindsay, had retired by then,

:01:51. > :01:56.The family recently discovered that two of thosd

:01:57. > :01:59.officers had been involved in the Hillsborough disaster.

:02:00. > :02:02.Both those officers, Dave Lindsay and Paul Cropldy, gave

:02:03. > :02:05.statements after the Hillsborough disaster, talking about fans

:02:06. > :02:09.who were drunk and who didn't have tickets.

:02:10. > :02:11.Now, that's the narrative that's been rejected twice.

:02:12. > :02:15.First by Lord Justice Taylor's inquiry in 1989 and again

:02:16. > :02:20.by the fresh Hillsborough inquests that finished earlier this xear

:02:21. > :02:22.South Yorkshire Police told us they're now working

:02:23. > :02:27.to gain a better understandhng of their concerns.

:02:28. > :02:31.It seems the force is still weighed down by the mistakes of its past.

:02:37. > :02:38.A 23-year-old motorist, who paralysed himself and khlled

:02:39. > :02:41.two of his passengers while racing on roads in West Yorkshire,

:02:42. > :02:47.Another of Thomas McMeekin's passengers was also paralysdd.

:02:48. > :02:51.Our crime correspondent John Cundy reports.

:02:52. > :02:54.Wheelchair-bound Thomas McMdekin will probably be paralysed

:02:55. > :02:59.for the rest of his life, btt today, he was still jailed for 7.5 years

:03:00. > :03:02.for what was called his "lunatic driving" which killed

:03:03. > :03:06.two of his passengers in a road disaster last year.

:03:07. > :03:08.Motorists Thomas McMeekin bragged he could offer lifts

:03:09. > :03:14.He'd show off to children, doing dangerous high-speed

:03:15. > :03:20.But on that Saturday in March last year, McMeekin lost control

:03:21. > :03:25.of his car and smashed into this tree at the side of the A62,

:03:26. > :03:31.Rhys Baker and George Wharton, both 14, were killed.

:03:32. > :03:35.Two other teenage boy passengers suffered life-changing disabilities,

:03:36. > :03:43.Thomas McMeekin had been warned by his mother and other children

:03:44. > :03:47.to stop his dangerous driving in the days before the tragddy.

:03:48. > :03:52.This was, to use that clichd, an accident waiting to happdn.

:03:53. > :03:55.And tragically, it did happdn on that fateful day.

:03:56. > :03:58.Two boys lost their lives and two others were seriously injured

:03:59. > :04:03.and McMeekin now has receivdd the justice of the court.

:04:04. > :04:05.They are disappointed with the sentence

:04:06. > :04:10.They were obviously aware of the injuries that Mr McMdekin

:04:11. > :04:12.sustained in the accident, but feel the sentence is low,

:04:13. > :04:14.given the devastation that was caused to four famhlies

:04:15. > :04:20.The community in Morley werd united in grief after last year's tragedy.

:04:21. > :04:23.Hundreds attended a vigil for the victims.

:04:24. > :04:26.The judge told Thomas McMeekin that, but for his own self-inflicted

:04:27. > :04:31.injuries, his sentence of 7.5 years jail, for causing the tragic deaths

:04:32. > :04:37.of Rhys Baker and George Wh`rton, could have been even longer.

:04:38. > :04:43.The family of a father and daughter who died in a house fire

:04:44. > :04:45.in Wakefield have returned to the scene.

:04:46. > :04:47.Police believe the fire that killed eight-year-old

:04:48. > :04:50.Kierra Broadhead and her dad Andrew was started deliberately.

:04:51. > :04:53.They launched a murder investigation yesterday.

:04:54. > :04:55.Kierra's sister and mother, who escaped the fire,

:04:56. > :04:57.looked at floral tributes outside their home.

:04:58. > :05:00.In a statement, they said they were "devastated" and thanked

:05:01. > :05:07.Labour has held the West Yorkshire seat of Batley and Spen

:05:08. > :05:10.after the death of MP Jo Cox led to a by-election.

:05:13. > :05:18.The Conservatives, Lib Dems, and Ukip decided

:05:19. > :05:22.not to put up candidates in the contest as a mark of respect,

:05:27. > :05:28.The Herd of Sheffield - 58 individually designed eldphants,

:05:29. > :05:31.which have been dotted around the city since July -

:05:32. > :05:34.were auctioned off last night at The Crucible.

:05:35. > :05:37.They raised just over ?400,000 for the Children's Hospital Charity.

:05:38. > :05:43.It'll be using the money to provide new life saving equipment.

:05:44. > :05:46.I cycle to work and, every day when I cycled

:05:47. > :05:48.to work when they were out, you'd just see clusters

:05:49. > :05:53.I also used to check them for damage as well.

:05:54. > :05:55.But yeah, it's just brilliant and then, when you go out in town,
