:00:00. > 3:59:59chances, her politics and her personality tonight. Join me now on

:00:00. > :00:00.BBC Two, 11.00pm in Scotland. Good evening and welcome to the late

:00:00. > :00:00.Look North. After the Ukip row in

:00:00. > :00:07.the European Parliament, we speak to one Yorkshire c`ndidate

:00:08. > :00:11.hoping for a place at Westmhnster. And the Sheffield youngsters who'll

:00:12. > :00:13.be first to benefit from a lassive And will this fine, mild,

:00:14. > :00:20.settled weather continue? Join me for the live updated

:00:21. > :00:31.forecast. French police have been askdd

:00:32. > :00:33.to investigate an altercation involving a Yorkshire MEP

:00:34. > :00:35.at the European Parliament An internal investigation bx Ukip

:00:36. > :00:41.today resulted in Mike Hookdm being given a "formal repriland

:00:42. > :00:45.following a clash with fellow MEP In a moment we will hear from one

:00:46. > :00:51.prospective Yorkshire Ukip politician, but first our

:00:52. > :00:53.Political Correspondent Tim Iredale exchange at the European

:00:54. > :01:04.what happened in that heated exchange at the European Parliament

:01:05. > :01:06.in Strasbourg almost MEP Stephen Woolfe spent

:01:07. > :01:10.three nights in hospital after collapsing on the day

:01:11. > :01:14.the altercation took place. Yorkshire and Humber MP Mikd Hookem

:01:15. > :01:17.has admitted there was a sctffle but has denied punching Mr Woolfe

:01:18. > :01:20.following an argument I never hit him. I stuck by that

:01:21. > :01:53.because that was the truth. I should not have graced thd bed and

:01:54. > :01:56.gone into that room. And I `pologise for that. -- raised the bait.

:01:57. > :01:58.Today the president of the Duropean Parliament Martin Schultz c`lled

:01:59. > :02:01.for an investigation by French police because of what he claimed

:02:02. > :02:03.was a serious and possible criminal implication.

:02:04. > :02:05.A committee found that accounts between the two men

:02:06. > :02:08.And Mr Schultz said medical reports suggested Stephen Woolfe had

:02:09. > :02:17.Meanwhile, in a statement this lunchtime, Mike Hookem hit back

:02:18. > :02:19.accusing the European Parli`ment president of stirring the pot.

:02:20. > :02:21.Describing the accusation that he punched Stephen Woolfe

:02:22. > :02:28.He's called on Mr Schultz to repeat the allegations outside

:02:29. > :02:35.of Parliament where he has hmmunity or simply to just apologise.

:02:36. > :02:40.Any French police investigation I were welcomed because it will once

:02:41. > :02:44.again prove that I'm innocent. Steven Woolfe, once seen as a rising

:02:45. > :02:49.star in Ukip and possible ldadership contender has now left the party but

:02:50. > :02:50.still sits as an MEP. It is now down to the French authorities to decide

:02:51. > :02:52.whether anyone has a case to answer. Joining us live from our Shdffield

:02:53. > :02:54.studio is the prospective parliamentary candidate for Ukip

:02:55. > :03:06.for Sheffield Brightside Good evening. We don't want to talk

:03:07. > :03:10.about what might or might not have happened because there were no

:03:11. > :03:17.witnesses, but could your p`rty have dealt with this better and sooner?

:03:18. > :03:20.No. We have obviously done ` thorough investigation and talk to

:03:21. > :03:24.be people there, got all thd facts. That's all we can do. We didn't want

:03:25. > :03:27.to leap out there with a case that could have been misleading so I

:03:28. > :03:32.think we did exactly the right thing. But how embarrassing is it

:03:33. > :03:36.that the president the Parlhament has referred the case to Frdnch

:03:37. > :03:40.prosecutors, but shows that he thought your party wasn't t`king

:03:41. > :03:44.this seriously enough. It is quite interesting that the Europe`n

:03:45. > :03:47.Parliament has some kind of legal immunity. It isn't to be

:03:48. > :03:55.extraterritorial summer doesn't actually fall within any kind of law

:03:56. > :04:01.I understand, the whole reason of this is the president of thd

:04:02. > :04:06.European Parliament doesn't really rate you kept very highly. We are

:04:07. > :04:10.the party, the cat amongst the rats is at work, that has took Britain to

:04:11. > :04:15.a referendum that we have one and it is Ukip that has done that so Martin

:04:16. > :04:19.Schultz will obviously love any opportunity to try and get one back

:04:20. > :04:22.on Ukip so if they it is more of a statement rather than reality. Don't

:04:23. > :04:27.you think this is damage thd reputation of the party? Anxthing

:04:28. > :04:34.can be damaging but I think a lot of the general public see Ukip is the

:04:35. > :04:40.People's party. In years gone by Labour MPs and Tory MPs werd people

:04:41. > :04:44.from all walks of life. Ukip elected representatives are your Labour MPs

:04:45. > :04:49.some political science, and in turn, some political science, and in turn,

:04:50. > :04:54.researcher and then MP and then become an MP so they have bdcome

:04:55. > :04:59.very much carbon copy clones pushing a political agenda. We have got real

:05:00. > :05:02.people there. Sometimes thing ball -- boil over a little. Thank you for

:05:03. > :05:04.joining us this evening. Nurseries in Yorkshire say they re

:05:05. > :05:07.facing financial ruin if government plans to make them provide 30 hours

:05:08. > :05:10.of free childcare go ahead. York is one of eight places

:05:11. > :05:12.across the country where parents can claim 30 hours of free care

:05:13. > :05:15.for three and four-year-olds - that's double what's

:05:16. > :05:17.on offer elsewhere. But nursery bosses say the loney

:05:18. > :05:21.they get doesn't cover costs. Well, we have said to Government

:05:22. > :05:24.we think there are two options. They could put more money in to make

:05:25. > :05:27.sure that all the costs are covered. We know that that is very dhfficult

:05:28. > :05:30.in the economic climate. The other option would be to allow

:05:31. > :05:36.parents to pay extra charges, so use the funded contributhon

:05:37. > :05:38.from government as just that, a contribution

:05:39. > :05:40.to the costs of childcare. And allow parents to pay

:05:41. > :05:43.for the extras at their chosen choice of nursery or childmhnder

:05:44. > :05:46.so they have the option to get the kind of childcare they want

:05:47. > :05:49.for their child that gives them The Department for Education says

:05:50. > :05:54.it's working with the areas piloting the scheme to get its offer right

:05:55. > :05:57.in time for the national A man has appeared in court charged

:05:58. > :06:09.with the murders of a father and daughter who were killed

:06:10. > :06:12.in a house fire in Wakefield. Andrew Broadhead and his

:06:13. > :06:13.eight-year-old daughter, Kiera, died in a fire at thdir home

:06:14. > :06:16.in Stanley last Wednesday. 28-year-old Daniel Jones

:06:17. > :06:18.from Knottingley appeared bdfore Leeds Magistrates' Court

:06:19. > :06:19.this morning, charged He was remanded into

:06:20. > :06:22.custody and is due before Within the last half hour the draw's

:06:23. > :06:29.been made for the next round of the English Football League

:06:30. > :06:31.Cup. Leeds - our only side still in it -

:06:32. > :06:35.have drawn Liverpool on Merseyside on the weekend of November

:06:36. > :06:38.29th and 30th. Meanwhile the launch of a scheme

:06:39. > :06:43.to boost grassroots football in Sheffield today has

:06:44. > :06:44.been widely welcomed. The Football Association's

:06:45. > :06:48.?200 million Parklife project will see 30 new all-weather

:06:49. > :06:51.facilities built across England James Vincent reports from the first

:06:52. > :07:04.one announced in Sheffield. This is the FA's glossy viddo

:07:05. > :07:08.for St George's Park in Sheffield, and we all know that Sunday league

:07:09. > :07:11.football and its pitches in this And that's one of the reasons why

:07:12. > :07:17.the FA's put its first This used to be, as I'm told,

:07:18. > :07:23.old grass pitches that just went to rack and ruin,

:07:24. > :07:26.as a lot of old grass pitchds do. And the problem is councils over

:07:27. > :07:29.the years have had less mondy to spend on upkeeping them,

:07:30. > :07:32.so I think football needs to step in, so, you know, what you see here,

:07:33. > :07:35.you can repeat 10,000 times ?200 million is being spent

:07:36. > :07:40.across the country. Sheffield is first and the council

:07:41. > :07:44.here have chipped in as well. Good news for Abbey Lane

:07:45. > :07:48.under-eights and their parents. It's so much better

:07:49. > :07:52.than where we were before. There's no pitches being called off

:07:53. > :07:55.or anything like that. I mean, this is our second season,

:07:56. > :08:02.so last year's under-sevens, the amount of games we had called

:08:03. > :08:05.off due to the weather, the state of the pitches,

:08:06. > :08:08.you know, so it was so inconsistent. And I just think the consistency's

:08:09. > :08:11.just going to do them He is happy that boots

:08:12. > :08:17.are finally on the pitch. Lots of years' worth

:08:18. > :08:20.of planning meetings, looking at drawings on piecds

:08:21. > :08:24.of paper, it's worth it when you're able to come and see the pitches

:08:25. > :08:27.nice and busy like we've sedn today. It's something that

:08:28. > :08:28.Sheffield really needs What we've tried to create or what

:08:29. > :08:34.we have created here is hub sites. And the revenue generated

:08:35. > :08:37.from the hire of the hub sites will be reinvested back

:08:38. > :08:40.into the improvement of grass Football's great and

:08:41. > :08:45.good were here today. They can grow up in all the places,

:08:46. > :08:53.and this is a place to play Here can start a big star

:08:54. > :09:01.of Sheffield Wednesday We used to play in the stredt, so,

:09:02. > :09:07.you know, to see a fantastic facility like this now is, xou know,

:09:08. > :09:10.kids have everything now. I think parents will be happy to see

:09:11. > :09:14.them training and playing in a safe Sheffield is football's homd,

:09:15. > :09:20.and much like back then, the city is again being used

:09:21. > :09:38.as a model for others. Here is Paul now who is alw`ys a

:09:39. > :09:41.model for others. Thank you. A lot of fine weather over the next few

:09:42. > :09:46.days. That we show you a pic -- picture again by popular deland It

:09:47. > :09:51.may look very similar curse light in the morning. The headline is a lot

:09:52. > :09:56.of cloud. Mild and windy. The jet stream is on the move to thd north

:09:57. > :10:02.and that means high pressurd will develop. A settled weekend but

:10:03. > :10:07.perhaps a bit of fog. A lot of fine unsettled weather. Not lookhng too

:10:08. > :10:10.bad into early November. Quhet out there at the moment. If anything the

:10:11. > :10:13.cloud will lower unsuitable depend nines and produce a little drizzle

:10:14. > :10:19.impetus. In Melbourne in thd countryside. Eight or nine hn open

:10:20. > :10:25.areas ten or 11. Thick cloud in the West where there will be a bit of

:10:26. > :10:29.drizzle in the Yorkshire Dales and Yorkshire Pennines. The best by

:10:30. > :10:40.missing the East. A fairly windy day. A gusty wind. Perhaps not as

:10:41. > :10:44.mild as that has done. Thursday evening looks mostly fine. Overnight

:10:45. > :10:48.Thursday night into Friday lorning will see a weak weather front

:10:49. > :10:52.pushing southwards. Light r`in and drizzle for western areas. Dastern

:10:53. > :10:57.areas staying dry. But as the wait for Friday. A West is split. Quite

:10:58. > :11:01.damp in the West. Brightest in the east. A fine weekend to follow but

:11:02. > :11:03.fog is a possibility on Sunday morning. That is it. I will

:11:04. > :11:05.out the outlook. Temperatures are looking very promising indeed. Nick

:11:06. > :11:16.Miller has the National forecast. If you like your forecast to include

:11:17. > :11:22.cold weather, this is not for you. Temperatures have been heading up,

:11:23. > :11:26.helped by sunshine showing off the autumn colours. 19 Celsius in

:11:27. > :11:30.Cheshire. Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales got to 16 or above. The

:11:31. > :11:34.mild hour feeding around high pressure from the Atlantic will

:11:35. > :11:39.continue for the rest of the week into the weekend, even the start of

:11:40. > :11:41.next week. Not a huge amount of sunshine with it. Colder
