:01:20. > :01:27.It's not just Muslims, we've had people from all communities that

:01:55. > :01:58.Remember, Iffy isn't dead, he is alive in our hearts and,

:01:59. > :02:01.as his dad said to me, don't remember how he died,

:02:02. > :02:07.Among those paying their respects at today's vigil, two former

:02:08. > :02:13.teachers, who remembered Iffy with great fondness.

:02:25. > :02:29.I remember that smile, that smile could change the world.

:02:30. > :02:32.And I remember ducking into the cupboard to have to laugh

:02:37. > :02:41.A great young man who brought people together.

:02:42. > :02:43.Irfan's death is one of three fatalities in Harehills

:02:44. > :02:46.over recent weeks - two stabbings, one shooting

:02:47. > :02:50.and three lives lost, a sequence of events that's

:02:51. > :02:57.Today was more than simply saying goodbye to a popular young man

:02:58. > :03:00.with the best years ahead of him, it was a symbol of togetherness

:03:01. > :03:09.Next tonight, there's growing anger in the Sheffield diocese

:03:10. > :03:11.about the appointment of a new bishop who doesn't

:03:12. > :03:17.Philip North takes up his position in June, but a female vicar

:03:18. > :03:19.says his views make the Church of England look like

:03:20. > :03:26.My family are from Doncaster, my grandfather...

:03:27. > :03:28.The Right Reverend Philip North, very soon to be

:03:29. > :03:32.He'll be installed this summer, but the appointment has been met

:03:33. > :03:36.with dismay by some clergy in South Yorkshire, because he

:03:37. > :03:42.Although Bishop Philip is very clear that he stands for equality,

:03:43. > :03:47.and wants to see women flourish and he's really clear about that,

:03:48. > :03:52.I think the very fact that he won't ordain women himself

:03:53. > :03:55.has the potential to give out a really negative message,

:03:56. > :04:01.that somehow the Church of England is a discriminatory organisation.

:04:02. > :04:04.There was a similar outcry when he was nominated

:04:05. > :04:08.for the Bishop of Whitby, so much so that he withdrew.

:04:09. > :04:11.Philip North was consecrated at a similar time to the first woman

:04:12. > :04:14.bishop in the Church of England, Libby Lane.

:04:15. > :04:17.Despite their differences, the two are friends.

:04:18. > :04:20.He maintains his opinions on the ordination of women

:04:21. > :04:22.will not hinder his working relationships in Sheffield.

:04:23. > :04:38.When Bishop Philip is installed here at Sheffield Cathedral

:04:39. > :04:41.in June, he'll be in charge of around 70 women.

:04:42. > :04:44.He's already held a meeting with some of them in Doncaster,

:04:45. > :04:50.so will they be able to turn to him for advice, given his views?

:04:51. > :04:52.Everyone I speak to speaks exceptionally highly of him

:04:53. > :04:55.when they get to know him, when they're working with him.

:04:56. > :04:58.People who perhaps expected not to get on with him are finding

:04:59. > :05:01.he's one of the best supporters that they've got.

:05:02. > :05:06.In his current role as Bishop of Burnley clergy

:05:07. > :05:12.Now, they praise his ability to support and include.

:05:13. > :05:15.I honestly think, once the women of Sheffield work with him,

:05:16. > :05:18.they will realise how amazing he is and their doubts

:05:19. > :05:24.The incoming bishop says he will ensure all clergy in his care feel

:05:25. > :05:31.Heidi Tomlinson, BBC Look North, Sheffield.

:05:32. > :05:33.Earlier I spoke to Dr Rachel Muers, a senior lecturer in

:05:34. > :05:36.Christian Studies at the University of Leeds,

:05:37. > :05:42.Well, it's unusual but it's not unprecedented.

:05:43. > :05:46.There are other bishops who don't ordain women.

:05:47. > :05:49.The Church of England has been ordaining women for more than

:05:50. > :05:55.20 years now but it's stated, it stated again recently that

:05:56. > :05:59.it wants to ensure that there's provision within the church

:06:00. > :06:04.for people who, for theological reasons, for principal reasons,

:06:05. > :06:11.So there are this minority within the church, including

:06:12. > :06:16.So in practical terms, are we not going to be see

:06:17. > :06:19.women vicars in his diocese while he's bishop?

:06:20. > :06:23.Well, no, there are lots of women priests within the diocese

:06:24. > :06:25.of Sheffield and I understand that Philip North's already met

:06:26. > :06:30.with them, there has already been a lot of discussion about

:06:31. > :06:37.He will ordain women as deacons and then the normal thing in these

:06:38. > :06:42.situations would be for another bishop to ordain women

:06:43. > :06:47.to the priesthood within the diocese so that we can go on having,

:06:48. > :06:50.allowing for women's priesthood within the diocese.

:06:51. > :06:53.But some people would see this as discrimination, wouldn't they?

:06:54. > :06:56.Are we likely to see some women vicars put off applying

:06:57. > :07:04.It's important to see this is an ongoing issue

:07:05. > :07:12.It's something which the Church of England has said again recently

:07:13. > :07:16.at the point where they decided that women could become bishops,

:07:17. > :07:20.recognised again that this was still a grouping

:07:21. > :07:22.within the church and still something for which provision

:07:23. > :07:29.While that's the case these kind of tensions are still going to rise.

:07:30. > :07:32.Rachel Muers, thank you for joining us.

:07:33. > :07:35.The 15-year-old girl accused of the murder of seven-year-old

:07:36. > :07:37.Katie Rough in York in January has pleaded not guilty.

:07:38. > :07:39.The teenager, who can't be named for legal reasons,

:07:40. > :07:45.Katie was attacked on playing fields in the Woodthorpe area

:07:46. > :07:48.of York on January 9th. She died in hospital later.

:07:49. > :07:50.Police made an arrest shortly afterwards.

:07:51. > :07:53.The accused girl has been remanded into the care of the local

:07:54. > :07:59.Planning permission for a new theme park in South Yorkshire has been

:08:00. > :08:03.granted by Rotherham Council subject to Secretary of State approval.

:08:04. > :08:07.It's hoped the ?37 million development on the former

:08:08. > :08:11.Pithouse West colliery site would create more than 400 jobs.

:08:12. > :08:13.Gullivers, the company behind the project, runs theme

:08:14. > :08:21.Leeds United co-owner Massimo Cellino is to stay

:08:22. > :08:24.in position at the helm of the club, for the time being at least.

:08:25. > :08:28.His proposed ban by the Football Association has today been suspended

:08:29. > :08:33.Cellino was due to begin a 12-month suspension

:08:34. > :08:36.after being found guilty of breaching the FA's

:08:37. > :08:40.But in his appeal Cellino alleges that the decision was unfair

:08:41. > :08:47.And in Super League it was a disappointing night

:08:48. > :08:53.The first half was a tug of war, but at the break Salford

:08:54. > :08:56.began to pull away and things seemed lost for the Giants.

:08:57. > :08:59.But in a game of two halves they brought it back coming

:09:00. > :09:01.close to drawing with two tries from Mellor.

:09:02. > :09:07.It wasn't enough, and a late penalty sealed the 20-30 win for Salford

:09:08. > :09:15.Now a look at the weather forecast with Owain Wyn Evans.

:09:16. > :09:21.We have had some improvements already this week. It is starting to

:09:22. > :09:27.feel a little bit milder. Thanks very much. There is going to be some

:09:28. > :09:31.sunshine on the way but I think what we will notice if the temperatures,

:09:32. > :09:35.they will keep on rising. That trajectory will stick with us. Here

:09:36. > :09:41.is the satellite picture from earlier. We will look at some

:09:42. > :09:49.weather watchers pictures. There were some sunny spells. OK, a bit

:09:50. > :09:56.cloudy across parts of North Yorks. A bit breezy on the bench, I reckon.

:09:57. > :10:01.Overnight we will see a of dry weather out there. We have this

:10:02. > :10:05.feature, weather front pushing in to western part and temperatures

:10:06. > :10:11.getting down to three Celsius. Chile, mostly dry, a bit of drizzle

:10:12. > :10:15.across western parts. Tomorrow, there is a lot of dry weather

:10:16. > :10:21.around. We will see some brightness but the cloud wishes over towards

:10:22. > :10:26.eastern parts but still coastal part hanging on to the best of the

:10:27. > :10:31.brightness with highs of 10 Celsius. Tomorrow night, a repeat performance

:10:32. > :10:38.but a d j view, it gets a bit further to the east and we will see

:10:39. > :10:42.some bits of rain as well. I will show you the pressure chart. I

:10:43. > :10:48.pressure is in charge. Let us take a closer look. Air in a clockwise

:10:49. > :10:52.fashion drawing in the milder air and that will stay with us. For the

:10:53. > :10:59.weekend, I reckon you will get a picnic, it will be mostly dry.

:11:00. > :11:00.Monday, 13 sources in February. Those temperatures keep on going up.

:11:01. > :11:06.I will leave forthcoming weekend. Here is Nick

:11:07. > :11:11.Miller with a resume of the National weather picture.

:11:12. > :11:14.Hello, rain for some of us today although it won't make much of a

:11:15. > :11:19.dent in the dry winter so far across much of the UK. A few threatening

:11:20. > :11:23.clouds in Cumbria but more than a threat of rain across the pond for

:11:24. > :11:27.Friday. The wettest weather system of the season is over heading into

:11:28. > :11:31.California, and there have been a few, with copious amounts of rain

:11:32. > :11:36.and lots of mountain snow. Record-breaking wet winter so far in

:11:37. > :11:38.parts of California. In Los Angeles this might be conservative, 50-100

:11:39. > :11:40.millimetres of
