:00:14. > :00:16.A team of Special Constables and Community Support Officers

:00:17. > :00:21.have been disguised as passengers on a so-called Trojan Bus,

:00:22. > :00:23.ready to intervene when trouble occurs.

:00:24. > :00:26.It follows a spate of attacks on buses by youths in Huddersfield,

:00:27. > :00:31.Ian White was given exclusive access to the operation last night.

:00:32. > :00:33.We don't get anything hit at this end.

:00:34. > :00:36.The passengers on this bus are not what they seem.

:00:37. > :00:38.In fact, they are undercover police officers being driven into problem

:00:39. > :00:41.areas, ready to disrupt anti-social behaviour and vandalism.

:00:42. > :00:45.The Trojan bus, as it's called, gets them into places unnoticed,

:00:46. > :00:50.so they can jump out when they spot trouble.

:00:51. > :00:54.We get a lot of young people hiding in alleyways

:00:55. > :00:56.and when they see a bus, they just start throwing rocks

:00:57. > :01:00.Of course, that can cause serious injuries.

:01:01. > :01:02.The police operation is all about trying to make drivers

:01:03. > :01:07.Buses have long been a target for anti-social behaviour.

:01:08. > :01:10.There's been many different things over the years from people

:01:11. > :01:13.having bolts shot at them, people having their cash robbed.

:01:14. > :01:17.When police spotted youths hanging around a disused pub,

:01:18. > :01:20.they got off the bus to speak to them, but some made off.

:01:21. > :01:25.Officers explained to the others why they were using the bus.

:01:26. > :01:29.What's happening is, buses are getting damaged

:01:30. > :01:32.and the suspects that are doing this are hanging around in this

:01:33. > :01:36.What's happening is, windows are going through on the buses

:01:37. > :01:38.and that's costing 700 quid to put them right.

:01:39. > :01:40.It happened 200 times in the last three months.

:01:41. > :01:43.At ten o'clock at night on Bradford's Homewood estate,

:01:44. > :01:45.there are over 50 children and teenagers hanging

:01:46. > :01:48.These youngsters weren't doing anything wrong,

:01:49. > :01:50.but they know the next bus that comes past could have

:01:51. > :02:03.It's keeping our passengers safe, it's keeping our driver safe

:02:04. > :02:05.It's keeping our passengers safe, it's keeping our drivers safe

:02:06. > :02:08.and it's also drawing attention to some of the trouble youths

:02:09. > :02:10.are causing and it's disrupting the things they're doing.

:02:11. > :02:12.West Yorkshire Police plan to use intelligence gathered by local

:02:13. > :02:14.officers to identify more trouble hotspots and will be

:02:15. > :02:17.running more Trojan buses across the county in coming weeks.

:02:18. > :02:22.Emergency crews are dealing with a large fire at an industrial

:02:23. > :02:24.estate on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

:02:25. > :02:27.The fire broke out at around quarter to seven this evening

:02:28. > :02:29.at Blue Line Auto Logistics in Ingleton.

:02:30. > :02:33.Several houses have been evacuated and residents have been taken

:02:34. > :02:38.Part of the A65 is currently closed both ways, while crews

:02:39. > :02:48.Now, if you travel by Northern Rail, Monday's commute is set

:02:49. > :02:51.to be a difficult one, as staff who belong to the RMT

:02:52. > :02:55.It's likely to mean more than 1,000 services are cancelled.

:02:56. > :02:58.There'll be no services before 7.00am and the last trains on most

:02:59. > :03:04.300 replacement buses will be on the roads.

:03:05. > :03:08.Today, the Transport Minister called for urgent talks

:03:09. > :03:15.Standing room only on a Northern train.

:03:16. > :03:18.They're busy enough on a normal working day but on Monday,

:03:19. > :03:26.We've had to focus our timetable about moving people where we have

:03:27. > :03:29.managers who are conductor-trained available to operate.

:03:30. > :03:32.We're looking at our core flows between cities and key locations.

:03:33. > :03:37.We aren't able to service every area, we have put bus replacements

:03:38. > :03:41.on and I would encourage customers to think about whether or not travel

:03:42. > :03:44.is essential on Monday as it will be very busy.

:03:45. > :03:46.This is what this dispute is all about.

:03:47. > :03:50.When a train arrives and departs, Northern Rail says the driver can

:03:51. > :03:54.open the doors safely on their own but the union says

:03:55. > :03:57.it is dangerous for passengers and a second member of staff,

:03:58. > :04:03.This is not about money or terms and conditions,

:04:04. > :04:05.it is about protecting the livelihoods of members

:04:06. > :04:07.and providing safety assurances for the travelling public.

:04:08. > :04:10.We believe having a second person on all trains

:04:11. > :04:13.is an additional safety measure, in the event that the driver

:04:14. > :04:20.With many services finishing early on Monday, evening commuters face

:04:21. > :04:28.The last service from Leeds to Harrogate departs at 5:29pm

:04:29. > :04:30.and the last train from Skipton to Bradford Forster Square

:04:31. > :04:38.The government says the strike is very disappointing

:04:39. > :04:43.It's calling on both sides to get around the table

:04:44. > :04:48.We have had driver control of the doors on our rail

:04:49. > :04:53.It has also been assessed by those who are responsible for safety

:04:54. > :04:55.in the rail industry and judged safe.

:04:56. > :05:00.So, what exactly is the problem that the RMT says they are

:05:01. > :05:07.Passengers today were already wondering how they will get to work

:05:08. > :05:11.The trains I come on completely packed out already.

:05:12. > :05:14.I will have to see what services are running,

:05:15. > :05:18.But if not, I will have to see what I can arrange.

:05:19. > :05:23.Last might, I came back on a Northern service

:05:24. > :05:26.and it was like a refugee camp, there were people everywhere.

:05:27. > :05:29.How is one person supposed to cope with that?

:05:30. > :05:32.Both sides say the door is open for further talks but the strike

:05:33. > :05:38.is on track to bring disruption across Yorkshire on Monday.
