:00:00. > :00:00.Good evening and welcome to the late Look North.

:00:00. > :00:00.Tonight: Research in Sheffield sheds new light on the health

:00:07. > :00:10.And the Yorkshire mother of three guilty of a terrorism offence

:00:11. > :00:20.after retweeting an Islamic State speech.

:00:21. > :00:27.We have had a mild day today. It will still feel pleasant in the

:00:28. > :00:33.sunshine. I will be back with the details later in the programme.

:00:34. > :00:36.Smokers under the age of 50 are more than eight times

:00:37. > :00:40.as likely as nonsmokers to suffer a major heart attack,

:00:41. > :00:43.according to research carried out in Sheffield.

:00:44. > :00:46.The study found that all smokers are at increased risk

:00:47. > :00:49.but younger ones are particularly vulnerable compared to those

:00:50. > :00:57.Our health correspondent Jamie Coulson reports.

:00:58. > :01:00.Until a couple of months ago, Trevor Rossall thought he was fit

:01:01. > :01:10.Despite being a smoker the 39-year-old exercise, ate

:01:11. > :01:15.But at the end of January, he developed severe chest pains,

:01:16. > :01:17.which turned out to be a life-threatening heart attack.

:01:18. > :01:20.I went to hospital with severe indigestion, never for one minute

:01:21. > :01:24.thought that it was anything other than severe indigestion.

:01:25. > :01:34.To be told that I'd had a heart attack was very scary.

:01:35. > :01:36.Every time you smoke, blood that's thick and dirty

:01:37. > :01:38.with toxins circulates through your body in seconds,

:01:39. > :01:45.increasing your chances of a heart attack.

:01:46. > :01:47.There are plenty of warnings that make it fairly clear that smoking

:01:48. > :01:50.is bad for your health, but now researchers have been able

:01:51. > :01:52.to quantify exactly how much of a risk smoking has

:01:53. > :01:57.on your chances of having a heart attack.

:01:58. > :02:00.So, this is a left coronary angiogram...

:02:01. > :02:04.The study, which was led by Sheffield teaching hospitals,

:02:05. > :02:07.looked at the admission data for more than 1700 patients who had

:02:08. > :02:09.experienced a classic type of heart attack,

:02:10. > :02:12.where one of the major arteries becomes blocked.

:02:13. > :02:16.The information was then compared to local populations' smoking

:02:17. > :02:20.Research has found that smokers are more than three times

:02:21. > :02:29.as likely as nonsmokers to have a heart attack.

:02:30. > :02:32.But in the under 50s, who tend not to have other

:02:33. > :02:33.contributory factors, smokers were more than

:02:34. > :02:37.However, the risk of a heart attack in ex-smokers was similar to those

:02:38. > :02:41.I think if you're a smoker, you're at significant risk

:02:42. > :02:48.These heart attacks are preventable, and by abstaining you can

:02:49. > :02:51.reduce your risk to a level similar to a nonsmoker in a relatively

:02:52. > :02:56.Trevor has now given up smoking and is starting to rebuild

:02:57. > :03:04.A mother-of-three who was convicted of

:03:05. > :03:07.a terrorism offence after she re-tweeted a speech

:03:08. > :03:09.by the Islamic State has today walked free from court.

:03:10. > :03:17.57-year-old Mary Kaya from Batley in West Yorkshire retweeted

:03:18. > :03:19.the link to an audio clip which the judge described

:03:20. > :03:23.She was given a 21 month prison sentence,

:03:24. > :03:44.Here's our Home Affairs Correspondent Spencer Stokes.

:03:45. > :03:47.Mary Kaya, seen here on the left are arriving at court

:03:48. > :03:50.She was found guilty earlier this month of disseminating a terrorist

:03:51. > :03:52.publication on the social media website Twitter.

:03:53. > :03:55.That publication was a speech written by the leader of so-called

:03:56. > :03:58.At 6:20am on 21st October 2015, police from the north-east

:03:59. > :04:00.counterterrorism unit burst into Mary Kaya's home

:04:01. > :04:03.They arrested her, her husband and took her three children

:04:04. > :04:07.Then her computer was seized to find out exactly

:04:08. > :04:11.During the four-day long trial, the court had heard that Kaya

:04:12. > :04:14.retweeted a link to the IS speech and that her computer had also

:04:15. > :04:18.been used to research radical Islamic preachers,

:04:19. > :04:25.IS supporters, people who travelled to Syria and footage of explosions.

:04:26. > :04:29.But viewing such footage is not the same as disseminating it.

:04:30. > :04:31.And Kaya's defence had argued she hadn't been attempting

:04:32. > :04:37.In court, Judge Peter Collier handed down a two-year

:04:38. > :04:42.He said, "It doesn't seem to me that you pose any danger to the public.

:04:43. > :04:49.Immediate custody would not serve any purpose."

:04:50. > :04:52.But he warned others who did the same in the future

:04:53. > :04:56.And that happened in Sheffield this afternoon, when a 22-year-old woman

:04:57. > :05:01.was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court to 20 months in prison after

:05:02. > :05:06.pleading guilty to disseminating terrorist material online.

:05:07. > :05:11.In Leeds, free to go, after sentencing, Mary Kaya was told

:05:12. > :05:13.she must continue to attend Prevent training to stop people

:05:14. > :05:27.Spencer Stokes, BBC Look North, Leeds.

:05:28. > :05:39.ProfessorPaul Rogers is a global expert on the so-called Islamic

:05:40. > :05:43.State. I asked how unusual verses. It is unusual but where they --

:05:44. > :05:49.where do they draw the line and feel they can bring a case where there is

:05:50. > :05:53.clear evidence of incitement. In this case they felt they could and

:05:54. > :05:58.the end result was a custodial sentence which was put through to

:05:59. > :06:02.suspended sentence. I suspect the evidence was not sufficiently strong

:06:03. > :06:07.to ensure the sentence would be custodial. These are unusual cases

:06:08. > :06:13.and there is always a problem to balance the line in whether they can

:06:14. > :06:18.bring the case in the first place. Under what circumstances would it be

:06:19. > :06:25.seen as encouraging terrorism? This was the second major speech of the

:06:26. > :06:32.lead of ices. He was calling for more support but it was widely

:06:33. > :06:36.studied and distributed. In this case, the authorities felt this was

:06:37. > :06:40.a deliberate use of a retweeting to spread the word in terms of trying

:06:41. > :06:49.to encourage people to take this lead. It is unusual and the end

:06:50. > :06:56.result was almost neutral. She was sent to jail and it is now seen from

:06:57. > :07:02.the point of view as an unusual case but not one which is unknown. Where

:07:03. > :07:08.do we draw the line between freedom of speech and radicalisation? It is

:07:09. > :07:12.a difficult one. The authorities are sensitive. We had the terrible

:07:13. > :07:16.London attacks a week ago and the war on terror over which has been

:07:17. > :07:23.going on for 15 years is no nearer to an end. The authorities are

:07:24. > :07:27.sensitive and willing to bring cases where there has been a reasonable

:07:28. > :07:31.chance of conviction. The people concerned with civil liberties are

:07:32. > :07:36.worried because they think we are worried because they think we are

:07:37. > :07:41.going too far, too often. I am not a lawyer but I am not at all sure this

:07:42. > :07:43.balance was kept exactly right in this case. Thank you very much for

:07:44. > :07:46.your thoughts tonight. 250 jobs could be created

:07:47. > :07:48.at a new theme park Gullivers, who already run

:07:49. > :07:51.a park at Matlock Bath, are behind the scheme,

:07:52. > :07:54.which will be built on land The 250 acre development has been

:07:55. > :07:58.given planning permission Libraries previously threatened

:07:59. > :08:06.with closure in five North Yorkshire towns

:08:07. > :08:08.will now be able to carry on from this weekend under

:08:09. > :08:10.a new system called Hybrid. Volunteers will continue

:08:11. > :08:12.to run the libraries but will have a specialist librarian

:08:13. > :08:15.paid for by the county This evening volunteers

:08:16. > :08:20.in Pickering, who're taking over their library,

:08:21. > :08:23.said goodbye to three staff Residents accept it's the only way

:08:24. > :08:39.to save a vital community service. I love the generosity of the people,

:08:40. > :08:44.the kindness and it is a good community spirit. Take the library

:08:45. > :08:46.away and it is scandalous. I felt very strongly about that.

:08:47. > :08:49.A French Cold War aircraft, never before on permanent

:08:50. > :08:50.show outside France, has arrived at Elvington

:08:51. > :08:54.The 77 foot long Mirage nuclear bomber travelled by road

:08:55. > :08:57.and sea in its four day journey to its new home.

:08:58. > :09:00.It was gifted to the Yorkshire Air Museum by the French government.

:09:01. > :09:03.It's made the journey in pieces and will be unloaded by crane before

:09:04. > :09:09.being put back together and going on display at Elvington.

:09:10. > :09:12.That's all from me with the news but Keeley has

:09:13. > :09:25.We have seen 20 degrees across some sports in Yorkshire. It has not been

:09:26. > :09:32.pleasant everywhere. There has been some damp weather across the West.

:09:33. > :09:38.Tomorrow, we will see some sunshine. It will still feel pleasant and

:09:39. > :09:42.temperatures above average. As we make our way through Friday, we will

:09:43. > :09:46.see a bridge building and the showers will die away. For the

:09:47. > :09:52.weekend, Saturday is a mix of sunshine and showers and a fine day

:09:53. > :09:57.on Sunday. At the moment, there is a lot of cloud and we have some rain

:09:58. > :09:59.making their way across the region. Assistant in the West and a mild

:10:00. > :10:08.night with temperatures in double figures. Tomorrow, variable amounts

:10:09. > :10:12.of cloud and we had patchy rain to come through the morning. That rain

:10:13. > :10:17.will break will be a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers.

:10:18. > :10:23.You can see from the graphics that those showers ease as we had through

:10:24. > :10:30.the afternoon. By tomorrow evening, it will feel quite pleasant.

:10:31. > :10:37.Temperatures of around 16 Celsius which is a few degrees above

:10:38. > :10:41.average. April the 1st of April showers. Sunny spells and a few

:10:42. > :10:48.showers through the day. Some of those could be on the heavy side. On

:10:49. > :10:56.Sunday, plenty of sunshine through the morning but cloud building and

:10:57. > :10:57.it is a little bit overcast. A few showers on Friday and some sunshine

:10:58. > :11:01.and showers for Saturday also. I time of year. The chance of a shower

:11:02. > :11:13.on Saturday. Sunday will be dry. Hello, it will cool off over the

:11:14. > :11:18.next few days but that's not unusual, given how warm it was

:11:19. > :11:22.today. This was London. We just had the warmest March day since 2012, 20

:11:23. > :11:27.two Celsius in the Sunnis skies in the south-east. It was much warmer

:11:28. > :11:30.than recently in north-eastern Scotland, but in between we had a

:11:31. > :11:33.zone of outbreaks of rain. It's pretty wet in south-west Scotland

:11:34. > :11:39.and North West England at the moment. This was the scene earlier,

:11:40. > :11:41.with rainy skies. There's more rain to come overnight. We
