:00:39. > :00:40.Child sex exploitation, grooming, abuse - words that in 2014 became
:00:41. > :00:44.It's a reputation the borough is desperate to shake off,
:00:45. > :00:47.so it is actively working to prevent a repeat of the scandal that saw
:00:48. > :00:53.For 18 months now, experts from the children's charity
:00:54. > :00:55.Barnardo's have been going into schools and talking
:00:56. > :00:57.openly about the dangers of being groomed.
:00:58. > :01:04.This group at Wales High in Kiveton have had several lessons.
:01:05. > :01:07.We have done CSE since year seven, cos it's such a big issue.
:01:08. > :01:09.You have to be able to know how to keep yourself
:01:10. > :01:15.Without the education of it, you don't know what you are doing.
:01:16. > :01:17.You don't know what you could get yourself into sometimes.
:01:18. > :01:19.Could you have been at risk, do you think?
:01:20. > :01:22.So this really has made a difference?
:01:23. > :01:27.A decade ago in Rotherham, knives and guns and gangs
:01:28. > :01:34.Child sex exploitation wasn't even on the agenda.
:01:35. > :01:36.Today it is firmly part of the school curriculum.
:01:37. > :01:38.Watching the latest session at Wales High, CSE victim, Emma.
:01:39. > :01:41.She was groomed whilst visiting Meadowhall as a teenager.
:01:42. > :01:43.She says with education, she would have worked
:01:44. > :01:46.I would have recognised that grooming process quite early
:01:47. > :01:55.on and I would have raised that with somebody, my mum or my dad,
:01:56. > :01:58.somebody in school and they would have known that is not right.
:01:59. > :02:01.And at that point, I could have walked away from that situation
:02:02. > :02:03.unharmed, and that would have changed my life.
:02:04. > :02:11.For us, we wanted to make sure that it is open, it is honest,
:02:12. > :02:13.that we are addressing it and actually confronting it
:02:14. > :02:16.and saying that we are not prepared to accept anything that has happened
:02:17. > :02:23.in the past and we're going to make sure we deal with it head-on.
:02:24. > :02:26.That's the polar opposite of what happened in Rotherham
:02:27. > :02:35.a shameful chapter this town is trying to put behind it.
:02:36. > :02:37.A woman has appeared in court charged with abducting
:02:38. > :02:41.23-years-old Jade Mellars from Beeston
:02:42. > :02:43.is alleged to have snatched the child from its mother
:02:44. > :02:51.She denies the offence and will appear in Crown Court next month.

:04:52. > :04:54.I just feel I'm doing it and it comes like that.

:05:02. > :05:07.It's not just the process of drawing that can be therapeutic,
:05:08. > :05:10.These colourful paintings of children and
:05:11. > :05:15.aliens was created for a children's hospital,
:05:16. > :05:17.designed to comfort children uprooted in strange surroundings.
:05:18. > :05:19.These paintings were made for a unit treating
:05:20. > :05:26.You go into that situation and you think, what is
:05:27. > :05:29.What would be suitable and what would help them?
:05:30. > :05:35.Having some picture on the wall of a hospital at all helps somebody
:05:36. > :05:39.It means it's not just a health factory.
:05:40. > :05:40.The paintings are on show for three months.
:05:41. > :05:53.True inspiration for illustrators everywhere.
