:00:17. > :00:19.It's getting like a ghetto round here, and you've got
:00:20. > :00:21.two or three factors that don't like each other.
:00:22. > :00:23.They just seem to keep to their own communities,
:00:24. > :00:29.They send money back home, they don't spend it in England.
:00:30. > :00:31.And a Bradford Imam is arrested in Pakistan over the murder
:00:32. > :00:43.And a few changes in the weather over the next few days.

:00:52. > :00:54.Politicians and commentators have been debating the leak
:00:55. > :00:57.of Labour's manifesto, but one of the hottest
:00:58. > :01:00.topics of the election - immigration - has, so far,
:01:01. > :01:05.Jeremy Corbyn says there'll be no false promises on migration,
:01:06. > :01:08.and immigration will be managed reasonably.
:01:09. > :01:10.But what do voters in Yorkshire think?
:01:11. > :01:13.It was one of the reasons why most people here voted
:01:14. > :01:18.James Vincent reports from Doncaster where the immigrant population went
:01:19. > :01:28.Sandwiched between the River Don and the East Coast Main line,
:01:29. > :01:32.Hexthorpe's always been a proper labour part of Doncaster,
:01:33. > :01:35.but if any party wants the voters here, they need
:01:36. > :01:37.to get their immigration policy right, because whenever we went,
:01:38. > :01:43.we found people worried about how that was affecting their lives.
:01:44. > :01:45.They just seem to keep to their own communities.
:01:46. > :01:52.I know there are difficulties here in Hexthorpe,
:01:53. > :01:55.and I'm not going to be the one to say no, there aren't.
:01:56. > :01:59.Everybody's got a right to make a good living for
:02:00. > :02:02.themselves wherever they go, but you are going to get a few
:02:03. > :02:05.A lot of them, they're decent people, you know.
:02:06. > :02:07.The majority of them are really good folks.
:02:08. > :02:09.There is still massive division within the community.
:02:10. > :02:12.It's not being addressed appropriately with our politicians.
:02:13. > :02:16.We're having to deal with it ourselves.
:02:17. > :02:18.And that is where the politicians are meant to
:02:19. > :02:21.Harry took the Look North red sofa out to

:02:34. > :02:35.Now that we're are leaving the European Union,
:02:36. > :02:39.that we make sure we have a fair immigration policy and that we don't
:02:40. > :02:41.leave other areas, for example like the NHS,
:02:42. > :02:50.Theresa May has in the made it clear that in the negotiations,
:02:51. > :02:52.she will prioritise freedom of movement.
:02:53. > :02:55.Well, our policy, ultimate policy, is to get
:02:56. > :02:58.Like we've said, we're going to do that...
:02:59. > :03:00.You've failed for seven years to do that.
:03:01. > :03:03.Well, when we have Brexit, we will have a completely
:03:04. > :03:06.We will be able to control immigration
:03:07. > :03:08.from within the EU, which has caused a lot of upset.
:03:09. > :03:10.A lot of people don't feel that they've been
:03:11. > :03:12.consulted and they don't feel they have consent.
:03:13. > :03:14.The only way to control immigration
:03:15. > :03:18.The only country that's been pushing for that for decades is Ukip.
:03:19. > :03:20.Who would you trust to actually work genuinely and
:03:21. > :03:21.constructively towards controlling our borders?
:03:22. > :03:29.We want to have a fund to help communities to reconcile
:03:30. > :03:35.the problems between communities and migrants coming in.
:03:36. > :03:42.Initially funded by money from the European Union,
:03:43. > :03:45.while we are still a member, from the social fund.
:03:46. > :03:48.When those ideas are finally printed in manifestos,
:03:49. > :03:55.people here will want to know the details.
:03:56. > :03:57.Staying with the election, candidates for all of Yorkshire's
:03:58. > :03:59.constituencies have been announced this evening.
:04:00. > :04:02.Ukip are fielding 20 fewer candidates across the region
:04:03. > :04:06.Our data journalist David Rhodes has been pouring over
:04:07. > :04:13.In 2015, the four main parties all fielded candidates
:04:14. > :04:23.But this time Ukip are fielding 20 fewer candidates.
:04:24. > :04:25.Some of this is tactical so they're not standing in places
:04:26. > :04:29.like York and Harrogate which voted to stay in the EU.
:04:30. > :04:31.But there also not standing in two out of the three
:04:32. > :04:34.Doncaster constituencies which voted for Brexit,
:04:35. > :04:39.a sign perhaps the parties resources are stretched.
:04:40. > :04:44.The Greens are also standing in ten fewer places.
:04:45. > :04:47.They announced today they aren't standing in York Central so as not
:04:48. > :04:49.to split the Labour vote in an attempt to prevent
:04:50. > :04:52.And these tactical decisions could have an impact
:04:53. > :04:59.because the Tories have an electoral advantage in the marginals.
:05:00. > :05:02.For Labour to pick up two marginal Tory seats,
:05:03. > :05:07.they would need around a 6% swing of the vote from the Conservatives.
:05:08. > :05:12.To win the five marginal seats Labour need a 10% swing.
:05:13. > :05:16.The Greens not standing in Morley and Outwood helps Labour.
:05:17. > :05:19.But flip a coin and this is potentially the Conservative
:05:20. > :05:24.advantage, because if they see a 6% swing in the vote from Labour,
:05:25. > :05:27.they could pick up four Labour seats.
:05:28. > :05:31.Ukip not standing in Halifax and Wakefield will probably
:05:32. > :05:36.But to win a place like York Central the Conservatives
:05:37. > :05:42.Ukip and the Greens fielding fewer candidates this year
:05:43. > :05:44.could have a decisive impact on the results of
:05:45. > :05:49.One other piece of election news tonight -
:05:50. > :05:53.in Bradford West the former leader of the Respect Party Salma Yaqoob
:05:54. > :05:56.has announced she plans to run as an independent candidate.
:05:57. > :05:59.Miss Yaqoob resigned as leader of Respect in 2012 citing
:06:00. > :06:03.a breakdown of trust with senior members of the party.
:06:04. > :06:07.At the time, Bradford West was held by the Respect MP George Galloway.

:06:14. > :06:20.An Imam from Bradford has been arrested on suspicion of murdering
:06:21. > :06:25.Syed Sibtain Kazmi is alleged to have been involved in
:06:26. > :06:29.the killing of the leader of a banned sectarian organisation,
:06:30. > :06:36.as he granted an Islamic divorce to Samia Shahid,
:06:37. > :06:39.who died as a result of a suspected honour killing.
:06:40. > :06:46.At the Haideria Mosque in Bradford, worshippers came together to voice
:06:47. > :06:50.concerns over the sudden arrest of their Imam.
:06:51. > :06:53.Sibtain Kazmi was visiting his brother in Pakistan,
:06:54. > :06:56.about to return home, when he was arrested
:06:57. > :07:02.at Islamabad Airport in connection with a murder committed in 2003.
:07:03. > :07:05.Imam Kazmi was due to lead prayers at a special programme
:07:06. > :07:09.here at the mosque in the community centre this evening.
:07:10. > :07:14.Instead, he's being detained at a police station in Pakistan.
:07:15. > :07:17.Friends say his wife and son back in Bradford are desperately worried
:07:18. > :07:25.He's a very nice man, pious person, always available for peace
:07:26. > :07:29.activities and always available to all community members.
:07:30. > :07:32.The mosque community believe Mr Kazmi's been set up
:07:33. > :07:35.by the authorities for political reasons.
:07:36. > :07:41.I'm from Pakistan as well, but they don't like this country.
:07:42. > :07:44.They do very bad things to the people when they arrest us.
:07:45. > :07:48.We request the Pakistan government, he is a very innocent person,
:07:49. > :07:52.he's done nothing wrong, he must be released as soon as possible.
:07:53. > :07:57.Mr Kazmi spoke to the BBC last year after the death of Samia Shahid -
:07:58. > :08:00.a British woman from Bradford who was killed in a suspected
:08:01. > :08:03.so-called honour killing after she remarried.
:08:04. > :08:07.Imam Kazmi performed her divorce and second marriage.
:08:08. > :08:11.He says he was threatened by Samia's family because he helped her.
:08:12. > :08:16.They said we will harm your family and you
:08:17. > :08:20.and you will pay much price for that if you do that.
:08:21. > :08:23.Now the Imam is detained in Islamabad.
