:04:43. > :04:50.It should be a great event, but with council budgets sqteezed,
:04:51. > :04:59.Well, every single person I have spoken to here in Bradford today was

:05:25. > :05:26.that criticism. However, what I have always been

:05:35. > :05:37.to showcase Bradford, and I won't prevent
:05:38. > :05:44.it from doing that. Not every town or city is

:05:51. > :05:55.Yes, 15 places put in bids to host the start or finish of the stage.
:05:56. > :06:01.One of those was Halifax. Which we One of those was Halifax. Which we
:06:02. > :06:05.were expecting to be picked. Sir Gary Verity has told us that is
:06:06. > :06:10.because of delays in refurbhshing the hall there. The council they
:06:11. > :06:14.have sent us this statement. We are well that hosting the start or

:06:27. > :06:30.-- would be selected. We have, though, expressed an interest in
:06:31. > :06:38.being selected in 2018. A Yorkshire MEP faces a bill
:06:39. > :06:41.of hundreds of thousands of pounds over remarks she made
:06:42. > :06:43.about the Rotherham abuse scandal. Jane Collins claimed three LPs knew
:06:44. > :06:46.about child exploitation in the town Ukip's Mrs Collins said her position
:06:47. > :06:50.should have given her But today the European Parlhament
:06:51. > :06:53.rejected that argument, Our political editor, Len Thngle,
:06:54. > :07:03.reports from Strasbourg. It is two years since Jane Collins
:07:04. > :07:08.made a speech at her party's annual conference in Doncaster that the
:07:09. > :07:11.three rather MPs, John Healdy, Sir Kevin Barron and sale champhon had
:07:12. > :07:17.known for a long, long time about the mass grooming and rape of
:07:18. > :07:22.hundreds of young girls in the town. They immediately said that was
:07:23. > :07:25.alive. One year later, in the High Court in London, a judge agreed with
:07:26. > :07:31.them. But it took another ydar before a hearing was held to
:07:32. > :07:36.determine damages. And that was the time, back in May of this ydar, when
:07:37. > :07:41.Jane Collins pulled what shd thought was her trump card of unity from any
:07:42. > :07:45.form of prosecution. When the vote went ahead, Jane Collins herself was
:07:46. > :07:49.absent from the chamber. It took MEP is very little time to make their
:07:50. > :07:55.minds up. In fact, less than 30 seconds. We are pleased abott the
:07:56. > :08:00.parliament's decision. It mdans that she cannot hide behind her Duropean
:08:01. > :08:03.state from British justice. We look forward to her being in the High
:08:04. > :08:08.Court to answer the things that she has said two years ago now, and the
:08:09. > :08:12.chance to finally get justice. It had not escaped the notice of MPs
:08:13. > :08:16.that he was an MEP from our party that was to get rid of all Duropean
:08:17. > :08:22.institutions wanting to use one of those same institutions to try and
:08:23. > :08:30.avoid paying damages. Apart from the Ukip dimensional and the hypocrisy,
:08:31. > :08:32.in any way to try and hide behind Parliamentary immunity and say that
:08:33. > :08:36.I don't need to face prosecttion in the course because I am a Mdmber of
:08:37. > :08:42.Parliament, that really did make eyebrows raise. Jane Collins has
:08:43. > :08:48.given no interviews since the's vote will stop but she has issued what is
:08:49. > :08:52.seen by many as defined leads. It said that this was one last battle
:08:53. > :08:58.in a war of words a to win. What happens now is that she will have to
:08:59. > :09:03.go back to court and those of the MPs say that the damage that was
:09:04. > :09:07.done by her libellous statelents was so great that they are demanding
:09:08. > :09:11.?150,000 each in damages plts costs. It will be up to the judge to decide
:09:12. > :09:12.how much she actually has to pay, and that could take some wedks if
:09:13. > :09:20.not months to decide. Later in the programme,
:09:21. > :09:30.we'll be live in York for the city's With seven new installations

:14:36. > :14:38.when it was always a bit It is warm.
:14:39. > :14:53.It is amazing. Well, talking about messing up,
:14:54. > :14:56.we have some footage of that lift. Katya, were you terrified
:14:57. > :14:58.for your life a bit? I don't like watching
:14:59. > :15:00.it back, I must say! And we just carried on,
:15:01. > :15:04.obviously, as you can see. We'd done it many times.
:15:05. > :15:07.It was quite a tight grip I had It was a really tight grip
:15:08. > :15:11.and I knew that I was safe. The thing that I love about you Ed,
:15:12. > :15:14.is, though, you keep going. Because after all the judges'

:15:20. > :15:20.I'll show you. On live TV, you did
:15:21. > :15:22.it all again. Katya said, I think
:15:23. > :15:27.we should show them. The thing is, it would have been
:15:28. > :15:31.much safer... There, there!
:15:32. > :15:32.Yes. It would have been so much safer
:15:33. > :15:38.for us not to do that lift. Ed, it is safe to say that
:15:39. > :15:41.you were not that popular All of a sudden, you do
:15:42. > :15:44.a Charleston, get a standing ovation, it all goes crazy
:15:45. > :15:47.on Twitter and the nation love you. Are you surprised by that ottpouring
:15:48. > :15:50.of love you have had? I think, after losing my se`t,
:15:51. > :15:53.if I had gone out in the first round So, to get through the
:15:54. > :15:57.first round was great. It is really good that
:15:58. > :16:01.people have enjoyed it. And I think they have seen
:16:02. > :16:04.that we have worked hard But I am quite surprised we have
:16:05. > :16:09.lasted this long. We are only doing so becausd
:16:10. > :16:13.the public are voting to kedp us in. Because it is not the judges keeping
:16:14. > :16:15.us in the competition. Well, my boys are voting for you.
:16:16. > :16:17.Are they? And I have to be honest, Ed,
:16:18. > :16:25.it is not because you No.
:16:26. > :16:29.Because he is trying the hardest. If I can be brutal, because you give
:16:30. > :16:32.the most entertainment. But he is still trying
:16:33. > :16:34.at the same time. It is not like he can just do
:16:35. > :16:37.the fun, joke act. He is trying really hard
:16:38. > :16:39.to combine these things. Also, if it was the World Ctp,
:16:40. > :16:42.I am more Monaco than Brazil. But the whole competition
:16:43. > :16:44.is about people who can't d`nce who try and get better,
:16:45. > :16:47.and I never wanted to And we are trying to do
:16:48. > :16:51.the pasodoble and the samba and this We are trying to get better.
:16:52. > :16:55.But if people enjoy it, then that... I think I learned you have just got
:16:56. > :16:58.to throw yourself into it. And what about Yvette, your wife?
:16:59. > :17:01.How is she reacting to all this She is hugely envious.
:17:02. > :17:03.Really? The only reason that I am doing
:17:04. > :17:06.it is because she said, And she really wants to learn
:17:07. > :17:10.the Charleston so that at wdddings next year or family events,
:17:11. > :17:13.we can pull out a quick Charleston. Yes, because she's good at dancing
:17:14. > :17:19.and she would love to be dohng it. You know, dads are supposed to be
:17:20. > :17:24.embarrassing, aren't they? And I am slightly overachieving
:17:25. > :17:26.with the embarrassment! The thing which we would
:17:27. > :17:32.really like to do Which is in three
:17:33. > :17:41.or four weeks' time. On that huge stage, Katya h`s won
:17:42. > :17:44.World Championships in Blackpool. And to have a chance to get back
:17:45. > :17:47.there and for me to dance with her on the big stage,
:17:48. > :17:50.which you know so well, So I don't think we'll
:17:51. > :17:53.get to the end at all, We have already done better
:17:54. > :18:02.than we thought we would, Show business is wonderful
:18:03. > :18:06.because people have a great time, they enjoy it, you make
:18:07. > :18:13.people happy. I think, though, I was in
:18:14. > :18:15.politics a long time doing And at a time when our world
:18:16. > :18:20.is a bit unstable and we ard working out, what does Brexit mean,
:18:21. > :18:22.what is happening to politics in our country,
:18:23. > :18:24.I do miss it a bit. But, you know, that was
:18:25. > :18:27.then and this is now. We have got one thing to sax.
:18:28. > :18:29.Keep entertaining. And I am loving the fake
:18:30. > :18:34.tan and the sequins. They suit you.
:18:35. > :18:35.I know. The fake tan!
:18:36. > :18:36.Good luck. Well, we couldn't resist
:18:37. > :18:38.trying out some of Ed's So we asked Ed and partner Katya
:18:39. > :18:43.to give us a quick look at the steps He was a little overambitiots with
:18:44. > :18:47.what I could actually do. You can watch the whole dance

:19:04. > :19:06.course. Ed Balls didn't just come
:19:07. > :19:11.to Yorkshire to see us. He'll watch his beloved
:19:12. > :19:13.Norwich City, who play A place in the quarterfinals
:19:14. > :19:17.of the EFL Cup is at Leeds head coach Garry Monk tips
:19:18. > :19:20.the visitors for promotion and says his side needs another
:19:21. > :19:22.good home performance. Norwich are a very good sidd,
:19:23. > :19:25.a very experienced side. It will be good for our young
:19:26. > :19:28.players to come up against ht, but it's one that we
:19:29. > :19:30.are determined to win. As determined as what Norwich
:19:31. > :19:39.will be and we are in front Like I said, we expect
:19:40. > :19:42.a large crowd tomorrow, which is great news for us,
:19:43. > :19:45.and one that we want to put A huge project is underway
:19:46. > :19:49.to recreate the whole of Sc`rborough in one of the world's most
:19:50. > :19:51.popular computer games. Minecraft is played by hundreds
:19:52. > :19:53.of millions of people worldwide think of it as a computerisdd
:19:54. > :19:55.version of Lego. Now - as part of a unique arts
:19:56. > :19:58.project - computer designers, volunteers and a small army
:19:59. > :20:01.of school children are building A new view of Scarborough
:20:02. > :20:07.from the historic St Mary's Church, up the hill to the town's iconic
:20:08. > :20:11.castle. This 3-D version is currently under
:20:12. > :20:14.construction here at Krash Labs a computer club with
:20:15. > :20:18.a passion for creativity. Block by block, they are recreating
:20:19. > :20:21.Scarborough inside the world of Minecraft, the famous interactive
:20:22. > :20:26.computer game enjoyed In the normal game, imaginary worlds
:20:27. > :20:30.at all strange characters and challenges, but here,
:20:31. > :20:32.Scarborough itself is being replicated to create
:20:33. > :20:33.an interactive work It is architecture,
:20:34. > :20:47.they are learning science, they are learning maths,
:20:48. > :20:49.spatial awareness, social skills, even spelling, because they have
:20:50. > :20:51.to type commands into Minechaft and have to spell
:20:52. > :20:53.everything perfectly. There's a lot of positives
:20:54. > :20:55.from playing computer games. Winter arts festival Coastival has
:20:56. > :20:58.commissioned Krash Labs to build a detailed interactive
:20:59. > :21:02.replica of Scarborough. And it will be a central
:21:03. > :21:05.exhibit of the festival, with banks of computers
:21:06. > :21:08.here in the Grand Hall of The Spa providing the public with a way
:21:09. > :21:11.to explore the new digital world. It is wonderful to work on something
:21:12. > :21:15.where we are creating something so new and working with these
:21:16. > :21:18.fabulous guys at Krash Labs in creating this and working
:21:19. > :21:22.with children and young people. It's a genuine community effort
:21:23. > :21:24.with volunteers invited to contribute to the massivd
:21:25. > :21:27.programming job over the next four months at a drop-in
:21:28. > :21:30.sessions at Krash Labs. I have never done anything
:21:31. > :21:47.on is bigger scale as this. It is quite strange, really,
:21:48. > :21:50.to see it in Minecraft. It's just hard getting the blocks
:21:51. > :21:52.right and in the right placd. We will see if all the blocks
:21:53. > :21:55.are in the right places It's on the weekend
:21:56. > :22:02.of the 17th of February, Carla Fowler, BBC Look
:22:03. > :22:05.North, Scarborough. The centre of York is about to be
:22:06. > :22:09.transformed as part of one of the city's biggest art events
:22:10. > :22:11.of the year. The 11th Illuminating York
:22:12. > :22:20.gets underway tomorrow There are seven new displays
:22:21. > :22:23.in places like the National Railway Museum, the Shambles,
:22:24. > :22:25.King's Square and the Minster, where
:22:26. > :22:35.Ian White is tonight. It is all yours.
:22:36. > :22:38.Thank you. Have a look at this. I bet you have never seen York Minster
:22:39. > :22:41.looking like this before. It is a beautiful building but just look at
:22:42. > :22:48.this. You could call it a work of art, display, installation. I don't
:22:49. > :22:56.know what you could call it. Let's ask Andrew, the curator for the
:22:57. > :22:59.Illuminating York festival. It is an incredible choreographed
:23:00. > :23:05.performative use of light in the Minster. It is creating a sdnse of
:23:06. > :23:08.display and exploring the btilding to a different way that we would
:23:09. > :23:12.normally get the chance to see. It is not just York Minster. Wd have
:23:13. > :23:16.been to the railway museum `nd errors are displayed as well. What
:23:17. > :23:21.is going on there? That is ` new work which eliminates parts of the
:23:22. > :23:25.workshop and uses different projections to create that different
:23:26. > :23:30.experience. For us, one of the most important things about Illulinating
:23:31. > :23:34.York is that nearly all the works commissioned for this year 's
:23:35. > :23:37.festival are in response to particular places in the city. You
:23:38. > :23:42.wouldn't get the chance to see them anywhere else. Less top to Jason,
:23:43. > :23:45.one of the artists who has worked on this project. You're responsible for
:23:46. > :23:48.this particular one. How am`zing it looks. At how difficult is ht been
:23:49. > :23:53.to work in a place so speci`l? It is to work in a place so speci`l? It is
:23:54. > :23:57.environment like this. The work is environment like this. The work is
:23:58. > :24:01.so specific. We have been working very carefully with the space. But
:24:02. > :24:07.we have been inspired by it. It has been drafted by stonemasons,
:24:08. > :24:13.reiterating and channelling energy into crafting and looking after the
:24:14. > :24:18.space. We were inspired by that Kraft, that shaping of spacd. Hence,
:24:19. > :24:26.we have created this ephemeral light architecture year. Are you pleased
:24:27. > :24:29.with the result? It is fant`stic. My team and I have worked on it for
:24:30. > :24:34.months. This is the accumul`tion of that work. Inspirational. It really
:24:35. > :24:42.is. If people are watching `nd want to come along, what do they need to
:24:43. > :24:45.do? They go onto the Illuminating York website or go to York Linster
:24:46. > :24:50.and buy tickets and make sure they do not miss this unique opportunity
:24:51. > :24:56.to see the Minster in this lost moving, emotional way. I thhnk we're
:24:57. > :24:58.going to leave you with... There's not much sound, but that is nice.
:24:59. > :25:06.Have a look at this. Fantastic. Really good. Well worth
:25:07. > :25:09.it. Beautiful, isn't it? Wonderful arts event.
:25:10. > :25:12.Let's have a look at the we`ther prospects. Getting warmer again
:25:13. > :25:18.Slightly milder. Plenty of dry Slightly milder. Plenty of dry
:25:19. > :25:22.weather and sunshine around. Let's have a look at some photogr`phs It
:25:23. > :25:28.was a cold start this morning. It was also miss the. You can see along
:25:29. > :25:35.the canal the mist lingering in this afternoon. Nice start in Shdffield.
:25:36. > :25:39.You can see in our second phcture some lovely colours. The thtd
:25:40. > :25:45.picture is sunshine trying to make its way up. -- third picturd. The
:25:46. > :25:47.sunshine is trying to make his way through in the Peak District. Keep
:25:48. > :25:56.your pictures coming in to ts. Some pleasant weather to cole in a
:25:57. > :26:00.80 days. It isn't wall-to-w`ll sunshine and at times it is cloudy,
:26:01. > :26:07.but a lot of dry, bright we`ther to come. Some missed by morning. There
:26:08. > :26:10.will be slightly higher temperatures because of the Atlantic influence to
:26:11. > :26:14.the weather. Whether coming from the West. With higher pressure coming
:26:15. > :26:18.from the south, the weather systems will be kept at bay. It took a long
:26:19. > :26:23.time to brighten up in Sons boss today but it was a pleasant end to
:26:24. > :26:26.the day. Clear skies meant we could see mist and fog we developdd a
:26:27. > :26:30.night. Overnight, cloud comds in from the south. It will be the hills
:26:31. > :26:34.that stick with the fob tomorrow morning. If you're travelling across
:26:35. > :26:37.the Pennines frosting, it mhght be poor visibility. Temperaturd is not
:26:38. > :26:44.as was last night but still in single figures at times. -- the
:26:45. > :26:51.Pennines frosting. Here are other times of high water. We start the
:26:52. > :26:53.morning with some mist on the hills. Tomorrow is a quiet day. Variable
:26:54. > :26:58.amounts of Clyde. Cloud in the West amounts of Clyde. Cloud in the West
:26:59. > :27:03.and the odd spot of two of light rain or drizzle here. Gener`lly a
:27:04. > :27:08.dry story with sunny spells at times, especially further e`st.
:27:09. > :27:11.Don't be surprised to do thhs - if it is quite cloudy tomorrow.
:27:12. > :27:17.Temperatures getting up to highs of 14 or 15 Celsius. Spot the
:27:18. > :27:19.difference in the next few days Variable cloud is biggest in the
:27:20. > :27:24.West weather could be some drizzle over the hills. The best ch`nce of
:27:25. > :27:28.any brightness is further e`st. With temperatures coming in from the West
:27:29. > :27:32.or south west, we will stick at around 13 or 14 Celsius.
:27:33. > :27:34.It has been quite good for half term, the weather.
:27:35. > :27:42.Everyone else are dropping like flies, so I hope you get better
:27:43. > :27:44.I will be better by 10pm thhs evening. Enjoy the rest of xour
:27:45. > :27:53.evening. Good night. It took us once to get through
:27:54. > :27:59.the novel Anna Karenina. It was used to help my friend
:28:00. > :28:04.with depression, and finishing as we went
:28:05. > :28:07.to sleep at night.
