0:00:42 > 0:00:43from their family and friends.
0:00:43 > 0:00:47A BBC investigation has found they're using online forums to enter

0:00:53 > 0:00:56Sabbiyah Pervez met one Leeds man to hear his story.

0:01:04 > 0:01:08For eight years he was married to a lesbian in a marriage
0:01:08 > 0:01:10of convenience that allowed them both to hide their sexuality.
0:01:10 > 0:01:13Their families believed it was a typical heterosexual
0:01:13 > 0:01:16marriage, but in reality, the couple lived apart and led
0:01:16 > 0:01:18entirely separate lives.
0:01:18 > 0:01:22We'd meet up on the M62 and go in the same car to see the family.
0:01:22 > 0:01:25On an emotional level, because you are living an additional
0:01:25 > 0:01:29lie on the top of the lie of being gay, it does get to you.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31The pressures do get to you.
0:01:31 > 0:01:34Marriages of convenience are not new.
0:01:34 > 0:01:37But whereas before, Asians who are lesbians or gay might find
0:01:37 > 0:01:40it difficult to find potential partners, now the Internet makes it
0:01:40 > 0:01:44easier and provides them with the anonymity they need.
0:01:44 > 0:01:46One online forum we have seen has over 1000 posts
0:01:46 > 0:01:49about marriages of convenience.
0:01:49 > 0:01:53Whilst another site has almost 300 current members from the UK, mostly
0:01:53 > 0:01:55from Hindu and Muslim religions.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58I would recommend to those people who are doing this,
0:01:58 > 0:02:00do not do two wrongs.
0:02:00 > 0:02:02Two wrongs will not make it right.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04If you're struggling with your faith, that's your
0:02:04 > 0:02:07personal journey with God.
0:02:07 > 0:02:11However, deceiving other people is in itself a moral problem.
0:02:11 > 0:02:14Karma Nirvana Helpline, how can I help you?
0:02:14 > 0:02:17Karma Nirvana is a human rights charity based in Yorkshire.
0:02:17 > 0:02:20They say they have seen a rapid increase over the past two years
0:02:20 > 0:02:23in the number of calls they get from Asian LGBT people.
0:02:23 > 0:02:26We are dealing with the tip of the iceberg.
0:02:26 > 0:02:28I believe this story of the marriages of convenience
0:02:28 > 0:02:31and the issues of the LGBTQ communities, is very much
0:02:31 > 0:02:32a hidden issue out there.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35The extent of the problem is going to be far more
0:02:35 > 0:02:37than what we are seeing and hearing.
0:02:37 > 0:02:41Khalid now regrets his marriage and says he wouldn't do it again.
0:02:41 > 0:02:44But he doesn't believe his family would be upset by his deception.
0:02:44 > 0:02:46I don't think they would be shocked.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49I almost think my mother would be proud that I did it
0:02:49 > 0:02:51to save the family's name, and their standing
0:02:51 > 0:02:52within the community.
0:02:52 > 0:02:55But they wouldn't understand the reason why I couldn't do it any
0:02:55 > 0:02:58more and why I felt I wanted to get a divorce and live
0:02:58 > 0:03:06the life I wanted to live.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09We will have more on that tonight at 6:30pm.
0:03:09 > 0:03:11A Huddersfield player accused of biting the captain
0:03:11 > 0:03:14of the Lebanese team at the Rugby League World Cup
0:03:14 > 0:03:15in Australia has been found not guilty.
0:03:15 > 0:03:17This is the moment Jermaine McGillvary allegedly bit
0:03:17 > 0:03:18Robbie Farah during Saturday's win.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21The disciplinary hearing in Sydney earlier this morning found him not
0:03:21 > 0:03:29guilty and he's been cleared to remain with the England Squad.
0:03:31 > 0:03:35Patients say a pioneering form of underwater treatment for mental
0:03:35 > 0:03:40health needs to be made available outside Wakefield.
0:03:40 > 0:03:43Watsu treatment has been trialled at Pinderfields hospital and has had
0:03:43 > 0:03:47100% positive feedback from patients.
0:03:47 > 0:03:49It's thought the unusual form of treatment isn't available
0:03:49 > 0:03:50anywhere else in the UK.
0:03:50 > 0:03:54Ali Fortescue reports.
0:03:54 > 0:03:59It's hospital treatment as you probably haven't seen it before.
0:03:59 > 0:04:01Watsu involves stretching and massaging patients
0:04:01 > 0:04:04in a pool of warm water.
0:04:04 > 0:04:06Unusual, perhaps, but this is a treatment that
0:04:06 > 0:04:08appears to be working.
0:04:08 > 0:04:12Nothing has had the impact like Watsu has.
0:04:12 > 0:04:18Because it's more than words - it's practical, it's physical.
0:04:18 > 0:04:23There's a huge amount of trust involved, and you have to be
0:04:23 > 0:04:28totally submissive to it, just let yourself go.
0:04:28 > 0:04:30It improves sleep, it induces relaxation, it brings
0:04:30 > 0:04:32down anxiety levels.
0:04:32 > 0:04:37It improves lung function.
0:04:37 > 0:04:42Through the gentle movements and the warmth and buoyancy
0:04:42 > 0:04:45of the water, as health practitioners we can treat any part
0:04:45 > 0:04:48of the body in a very safe and very gentle way.
0:04:48 > 0:04:51All mental health patients are different, but Watsu treatment
0:04:51 > 0:04:54has had just positive treatment from around 60 patients,
0:04:54 > 0:04:56many of whom have identified it as a turning point
0:04:56 > 0:04:59in their recovery.
0:04:59 > 0:05:02Pinderfields is the only hospital that offers this treatment
0:05:02 > 0:05:04to mental health patients on the NHS in Yorkshire.
0:05:04 > 0:05:07But the problem isn't just access, it's what happens when patients
0:05:07 > 0:05:08leave the hospital.
0:05:08 > 0:05:12Because funding stops at the hospital doors,
0:05:12 > 0:05:15patients say recovery at home without Watsu can be tough.
0:05:15 > 0:05:18But since we raised the issue, the trust are now reviewing
0:05:19 > 0:05:22their current after-care plans.
0:05:22 > 0:05:24If you have a mental illness, a lot of the time
0:05:24 > 0:05:27you become socially isolated.
0:05:27 > 0:05:30It's very difficult anywhere to actually open up for the fear
0:05:30 > 0:05:35of being ridiculed and dismissed.
0:05:35 > 0:05:39But here, there's none of that.
0:05:39 > 0:05:43Here, we are still part of it and we're made feel worthwhile.
0:05:43 > 0:05:47It's very life-changing.
0:05:47 > 0:05:49The hope is that success in Wakefield will inspire
0:05:49 > 0:05:52hospitals across the country, and that more patients
0:05:52 > 0:05:56like Michael can leave the scars of mental health behind them.
0:05:56 > 0:06:01Ali Fortescue, BBC Look North, Wakefield.
0:06:01 > 0:06:03Finally this lunchtime, if you're thinking about getting
0:06:03 > 0:06:04the Christmas decorations out of the attic,
0:06:04 > 0:06:06well, Chatsworth House has beaten you to it.
0:06:06 > 0:06:10Their halls are decked, their firs are spruced.
0:06:10 > 0:06:12Today we had a special invitation to take a look
0:06:12 > 0:06:13at their festive preparations.
0:06:13 > 0:06:18Tom Ingall went along.
0:06:18 > 0:06:22If you're somebody who loves to count down the days to Christmas,
0:06:22 > 0:06:25this is no doubt a day ringed in red on your calendar, because it's
0:06:25 > 0:06:27the day Chatsworth House reveals its Christmas 2017 theme.
0:06:27 > 0:06:32We are in the chapel, where the tree and the baubles
0:06:32 > 0:06:34and lights are glittering, although I'm assured
0:06:34 > 0:06:37there are still quite a few shopping days left until the big day.
0:06:37 > 0:06:41Someone who can tell us about the scene they have
0:06:41 > 0:06:44Someone who can tell us about the theme they have
0:06:44 > 0:06:45chosen is Janet Bitton, the housekeeper at Chatsworth.
0:06:46 > 0:06:47What have you gone with this year?
0:06:47 > 0:06:49This year we have gone with,
0:06:49 > 0:06:50"Oh, Dickens, It's Christmas At Chatsworth."
0:06:50 > 0:06:53How does that translate from the pages of the book, then,
0:06:53 > 0:06:54to a roomful of decorations?
0:06:54 > 0:06:57We have been thinking about doing Dickens for quite some time,
0:06:57 > 0:06:58because it's so atmospheric.
0:06:58 > 0:07:00Everybody thinks of A Christmas Carol and Christmas
0:07:00 > 0:07:01stories to do with Dickens.
0:07:01 > 0:07:02It's something we really wanted to do.
0:07:02 > 0:07:06We have tried to liven it up a bit because obviously Dickens can be
0:07:06 > 0:07:07a little bit sad in places.
0:07:07 > 0:07:10And we have just taken it into each of the rooms,
0:07:10 > 0:07:13taken the main stories and given it a bit of pizzazz.
0:07:13 > 0:07:15So you have plucked your favourite characters from the books, have you?
0:07:15 > 0:07:17Who have you chosen to represent?
0:07:17 > 0:07:19We particularly focused on A Christmas Carol,
0:07:19 > 0:07:23just because of its familarity with Christmas.
0:07:23 > 0:07:26And we also have some actors in this year as well,
0:07:26 > 0:07:29starring as Fagin and Miss Havisham.
0:07:29 > 0:07:32We have the Green Man, who will be sitting behind me here.
0:07:32 > 0:07:36That's to do with Christmas present and presents itself.
0:07:36 > 0:07:39How many people does it take to put your decorations up every year?
0:07:39 > 0:07:40It must take a while!
0:07:40 > 0:07:43We have two main teams who get involved, coming under
0:07:43 > 0:07:45the decorations team.
0:07:45 > 0:07:48There's probably about 20 of us altogether, although we don't
0:07:48 > 0:07:49work at the same time.
0:07:49 > 0:07:50We have a shift system.
0:07:50 > 0:07:52We start early in the morning and finish mid-afternoon,
0:07:52 > 0:07:54and the second shift comes on until the night.
0:07:54 > 0:07:56Thank you very much indeed.
0:07:56 > 0:07:59And if you think it takes a long time to put your decorations up,
0:07:59 > 0:08:01spare a thought for these guys.
0:08:01 > 0:08:07Not only that, they've got to take them all down again in January.
0:08:07 > 0:08:13Have you got your sprouts on for Christmas Day yet?I'm not a huge
0:08:13 > 0:08:17fan of sprouts. I think they are gag inducing. I'm not a fan.
0:08:20 > 0:08:25The weather has been feeling good today, but cool and chilly, but
0:08:25 > 0:08:28fairly good across the whole of Yorkshire. Temperatures around nine
0:08:28 > 0:08:32or ten, but it will remain dry. Not much going on on the map, which is
0:08:32 > 0:08:37good news. If you like the dry weather and sunshine. But
0:08:37 > 0:08:40temperatures still disappointing, eight or nine pretty much across the
0:08:40 > 0:08:44board. As we move through the afternoon and into the evening, the
0:08:44 > 0:08:47sunshine tends to turn more hazy. That's ahead of this weather front
0:08:47 > 0:08:52moving in from the West. Parts of north Yorkshire remaining mostly
0:08:52 > 0:08:58dry, breezy at times. HIV-1, temperatures down to three or four
0:08:58 > 0:09:05Celsius tonight. A very different feel. -- quite a chilly one,
0:09:05 > 0:09:11temperatures down to three or four Celsius. We'll see brighter spells
0:09:11 > 0:09:16as we had through the day and into tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures
0:09:16 > 0:09:22higher than today, I think 12 or 13 Celsius. Looking mostly dry as we
0:09:22 > 0:09:28had to the end of the week. The weekend will be looking pretty good.
0:09:28 > 0:09:32I will be doing the Christmas lights switch on in York next week. With
0:09:32 > 0:09:33that big plunger.
