:00:18. > :00:22.The event was in Rothwell, near Leeds, for people who'll be

:00:23. > :00:24.affected by living along the planned route.

:00:25. > :00:34.Today was a chance for the people of Rockwell and the surrounding area

:00:35. > :00:36.to put their concerns about HS2 to the people responsible

:00:37. > :00:39.for delivering it and they didn't hold back.

:00:40. > :00:41.Well, they will have to do better than that.

:00:42. > :00:44.Because the significant weight of that tunnel mouth

:00:45. > :00:54.The original plan for the area was for the line to Leeds to run

:00:55. > :00:57.north of the village along the River Aire on a viaduct.

:00:58. > :01:00.At a consultation, that has now been partially shelved in favour

:01:01. > :01:01.of a 1km-long tunnel beneath Woodlesford.

:01:02. > :01:04.The people we spoke to at today's meeting say that will

:01:05. > :01:09.The fact that the area cannot support a traffic jam at the moment

:01:10. > :01:11.means we are going to be affected hugely by the logistical

:01:12. > :01:21.impacts of planning, preparation and everything.

:01:22. > :01:24.Not to mention the fact that they will be tunnelling

:01:25. > :01:25.hyperbarically, so at pressure, underneath our town.

:01:26. > :01:28.Is going to take years, 10, 15 years, never mind the initial

:01:29. > :01:31.construction which is going to take at least 6.

:01:32. > :01:33.It is a decimation of this community for 20 years,

:01:34. > :01:39.People obviously are concerned to know what the impact

:01:40. > :01:41.will be around properties, around the highways and visually.

:01:42. > :01:45.So we've got lots of information here to share with them.

:01:49. > :01:51.to what a high-speed train sounds like.
