:01:00. > :01:07.Today, few people would deny that pollution is an issue.

:01:08. > :01:09.This is an air quality management area in Leeds,

:01:10. > :01:12.a place where the problem's so bad the council is taking urgent

:01:13. > :01:16.A study suggests that 700 people will lose their lives

:01:17. > :01:22.this year alone in Leeds from breathing dirty air.

:01:23. > :01:26.Separate research shows that in just one year,

:01:27. > :01:29.3,000 people across our region died after breathing dirty air.

:01:30. > :01:31.We understand that air pollution is a significant

:01:32. > :01:34.risk to public health, on the scale of obesity,

:01:35. > :01:36.and we know that the equivalent figure, in terms of deaths,

:01:37. > :01:40.is around 40,000 equivalent deaths per year is the overall

:01:41. > :01:44.impact of air pollution on our health nationally.

:01:45. > :01:49.The Government's Department for Environment says it's spent more

:01:50. > :01:51.than ?2 billion since 2011 to encourage people to use greener

:01:52. > :01:54.transport and is committed to spending another ?290 million

:01:55. > :02:01.to support electric cars and low emissions buses.

:02:02. > :02:03.York City's players will turn their attention back

:02:04. > :02:05.to National League survival this week, following their FA

:02:06. > :02:12.They beat Lincoln to go through to the final at Wembley in May.
