:00:12. > :00:14.of three teenage girls in the 1960s and '70s were committed

:00:15. > :00:19.Their potential suspect - 79-year-old Peter Pickering -

:00:20. > :00:21.was convicted of killing Shirley Ann Boldy in 1972.

:00:22. > :00:24.Now a detective thinks he could be linked to the murders

:00:25. > :00:34.Peter Pickering has been locked up since 1972 when he confessed

:00:35. > :00:36.to murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility

:00:37. > :00:45.His victim, 14-year-old Shirley Ann Boldy, was raped,

:00:46. > :00:48.strangled and stabbed on her way home from school near Barnsley.

:00:49. > :00:51.The crime bears similarities with the murder of Elsie Frost in 1965.

:00:52. > :00:58.The 14-year-old was killed in this underpass near Wakefield.

:00:59. > :01:00.Pickering was questioned about the murder in 2015

:01:01. > :01:04.and was arrested last year in connection with the killing.

:01:05. > :01:07.Now a detective investigating the murder of Anne Dunwell,

:01:08. > :01:08.has revealed he, too, considers Peter Pickering

:01:09. > :01:12.The case is South Yorkshire's longest unsolved murder

:01:13. > :01:15.and was revisited in 1988 when DNA evidence became possible,

:01:16. > :01:27.Anne was 13 when she was strangled on her way home from her

:01:28. > :01:34.Howard Road is where she was last seen alive.

:01:35. > :01:37.Police stress there's no new evidence or a new witness

:01:38. > :01:39.to link her murder with those of Shirley Anne Boldy

:01:40. > :01:43.But Anne's clothing is in police stores.

:01:44. > :01:46.The DNA is to be the reanalysed in the hope of a breakthrough

:01:47. > :01:56.Two men are in hospital with serious injuries

:01:57. > :02:05.It happened at Bar Fibre in Briggate in the early hours of this morning.
