:00:31. > :00:32.The council wants to close and knocked down the Oastler Centre

:00:33. > :00:37.for housing, and then use the former Marks Spencer building

:00:38. > :00:39.near the city centre as a new food market.

:00:40. > :00:41.The Kirkgate Market within the shopping centre opposite

:00:42. > :00:51.This is where the sort of footfall is in the city centre,

:00:52. > :00:54.it's a key corridor for the city as well, so it is celebrating that.

:00:55. > :00:57.The Oastler Centre was recently named one of the top ten world

:00:58. > :01:02.So we want to put that in the heart of the city and make sure

:01:03. > :01:04.it's fit for purpose and it's the future of markets.

:01:17. > :01:20.I'm not sure if you're going to attract the right sort of market.

:01:21. > :01:24.A lot of the shopping has gone towards the bottom of town and

:01:25. > :01:27.has left the top of the town quite barren, so to bring shopping

:01:28. > :01:29.back into Darley Street is going to bring some life back

:01:30. > :01:33.into the area, which would be quite nice for this part of Bradford.

:01:34. > :01:36.I don't think it will be a good idea personally,

:01:37. > :01:38.because I think there's hardly anybody that comes around this area

:01:39. > :01:40.now because there's no shops here as well.

:01:41. > :01:43.If the plans to redevelop the market get the go-ahead,

:01:44. > :01:45.it should be completed in four years' time.

:01:46. > :01:47.At that time, the Oastler Centre here would be knocked down

:01:48. > :01:56.and the housing would start to be built.

:01:57. > :01:58.A community in Leeds, trying to solve the housing crisis

:01:59. > :02:02.by developing their own homes, have hit their funding target.

:02:03. > :02:04.Chapeltown Co-Housing have found a site for thirty three affordable

:02:23. > :02:29.There were big celebrations in the town of Elland today

:02:30. > :02:31.with the grand re-opening of its historic bridge.

:02:32. > :02:33.The town was torn in two after being badly damaged

:02:47. > :02:49.a chance for a community that had been divided by the damaged

:03:04. > :03:10.It brings a lot more people back into Elland,

:03:11. > :03:12.and takes more people out, so it's amazing.

:03:13. > :03:18.A lot better, the traffic has has calmed down again,

:03:19. > :03:20.you can get across, it's not like having two towns.

:03:21. > :03:23.It was a pain because people had to go around the long way

:03:24. > :03:25.and you couldn't just nip over the bridge,

:03:26. > :03:29.It's been a huge project to restore the bridge

:03:30. > :03:34.Pedestrians have been able to use the bridge since January,

:03:35. > :03:41.and it finally reopened for vehicles in February.

:03:42. > :03:44.Today was a family fun day, celebrating on the bridge,

:03:45. > :03:46.and on the water, an official opening now that all

:03:47. > :03:57.Local people are once again able to make the most of their town.

:04:39. > :04:40.rain overnight tomorrow, but dry through the dayight hours,

:04:41. > :04:43.warm in the sunshine, 15 or 16 Celsius the high.

:04:44. > :04:45.So allow for a bit of patchy rain overnight tomorrow.

:04:46. > :04:48.Next week looks clear during the early hours of Tuesday

:04:49. > :04:53.and then next week is dry and sunny spells but rather chilly overnight.
