:00:14. > :00:18.Good evening. The Shropshire man serving life for a brutal murder in

:00:18. > :00:24.1994 has been found responsible for two others committed in the same

:00:24. > :00:27.year. Robin Ligus was 59 and was presented in the dock for only one

:00:27. > :00:30.day at his month-long trial at Birmingham Crown Court, having been

:00:30. > :00:35.judged mentally unfit for taking part in the proceedings.

:00:35. > :00:40.He called himself a natural born killer, but it took 17 years to

:00:40. > :00:44.bring Robin Ligus to full account for his crimes. He has been in jail

:00:44. > :00:47.for the mid- 90s, when he battered to death Robert Young, a retired

:00:47. > :00:53.businessman and his home in Shrewsbury. I don't know who would

:00:53. > :00:58.want to do that to him. He did nobody any harm. He would chatter

:00:58. > :01:05.as we went by. We now know this is not his only killing, far from it.

:01:05. > :01:09.I had an iron bar. It was inside my camouflage jacket and I hit him on

:01:09. > :01:13.the back of the head. And 2009, he confessed to the murder of Trevor

:01:13. > :01:19.Bradley, an antiques dealer found and the remains of his burnt-out

:01:19. > :01:24.car. I hope he rots in hell. I truly hope you rot in hell.

:01:24. > :01:32.Trevor's younger brother of new Robin Ligus and says he is a

:01:32. > :01:37.psychopath. He is now confined to a wheelchair and has been considered

:01:37. > :01:41.mentally unfit to attend the trial. He has a full-time carer in prison.

:01:41. > :01:46.There are pensioners out here that have led an honest life and they

:01:46. > :01:51.cannot have their own careers. But we have this sort of person already

:01:51. > :01:55.doing life for killing someone, living the life of luxury.

:01:55. > :01:59.other victim was Bryan Coles, battered over the head during a

:01:59. > :02:02.burglary at his bungalow in Whitchurch. The original police

:02:02. > :02:08.inquiry team have doubted the truth of his confessions which he later

:02:08. > :02:14.retracted. A decade on, Cold Case Review Letters to the charges.

:02:14. > :02:18.Robin Ligus claimed he drowned another man when he was just 17 but

:02:18. > :02:24.police found no record of that victim. And imagining, perhaps, of

:02:24. > :02:27.a murderous mind. And Robin Ligus will be sentenced

:02:28. > :02:32.on July 29th. The jury found it had not been proved that he was

:02:32. > :02:37.involved in the death of Bernard Czyzewska, whose body was found in

:02:37. > :02:40.the River Severn in November, 1994. West Midlands police blame the

:02:41. > :02:46.soaring price of gold for a soaring spate of street robberies targeting

:02:46. > :02:50.the Asian community. Across the area, 52 women have had their

:02:50. > :02:54.jewellery snatched this month, double the average. Our reporter

:02:54. > :02:59.has had exclusive access to the police operation which has seen

:02:59. > :03:03.over 100 arrests in two weeks. Gold has never been such a safe

:03:03. > :03:09.investment. But with prices doubling in the past 12 months,

:03:09. > :03:15.opportunist thieves present a real danger. Naeeda Bi found this out to

:03:15. > :03:20.her cost. My daughter was with me at the time. He jumped on me.

:03:20. > :03:24.is one of 15 Asian women targeted by chain snatches in Birmingham's

:03:24. > :03:32.famous Soho Road Road area in the past month. Police say that Asian

:03:32. > :03:37.gold has become a target because it is purer and often on display. They

:03:37. > :03:43.are targeting individual suspects, but police recognise they must also

:03:44. > :03:47.reassure the wider community. ensure there is his ability in key

:03:47. > :03:51.locations to show the public we are taking the effects of robbery

:03:51. > :03:59.seriously. -- there is visibility. And we are sending out the message

:03:59. > :04:03.to robbers, and we are out in force, overtly and covert leave. This is

:04:03. > :04:06.100,000 worth, smelted down in a few minutes. Reputable jewellers in

:04:06. > :04:11.the City have adopted a Neighbourhood Watch style or

:04:11. > :04:16.approach to stop thieves trying to use them to liquify stolen gold.

:04:16. > :04:20.one of us has a problem, everybody is aware within seconds that there

:04:20. > :04:23.is a problem in the area and to look out for people. The West

:04:23. > :04:30.Midlands Police is pouring resources into the crime hot spots

:04:30. > :04:34.that this is creating. Cricket now, and Warwickshire take

:04:34. > :04:40.on Leicestershire in a Twenty20 match and Edgbaston's new
