:00:20. > :00:26.A travel agent faces jail. We were expecting to get what we
:00:27. > :00:31.paid for, but it was a con. An ambition we can achieve, the
:00:31. > :00:36.business men who says he can create 100,000 jobs across the region.
:00:36. > :00:40.Ambition is a good thing, it is a word I am proud to be associated
:00:40. > :00:44.within a business, it is an approach we want to take.
:00:44. > :00:49.Make-or-break for Mick McCarthy, two teams with the worst record in

:01:10. > :01:15.photographer Paul Top Of The Pops Good evening. Welcome.
:01:15. > :01:20.Tonight, pilgrimage one and, a travel agent faces jail for ripping
:01:20. > :01:24.off a family for 10,000. The promised a five-star experience in
:01:24. > :01:31.the best of hotels, plus food. But they lived in squalor with nothing
:01:31. > :01:35.but cockroaches in the fridge. He faces trial -- jail, but Trading
:01:35. > :01:43.Standards said that many more families are being conned as well.
:01:43. > :01:47.In a moment, advice on being -- on avoiding being duped.
:01:47. > :01:52.A cockroach. Filthy conditions and dinner presented in a plastic bag.
:01:52. > :01:57.A few examples from the catalogue of disasters which his family felt
:01:57. > :02:02.during what should have been a five-star trip. It was very
:02:02. > :02:08.upsetting, we had cockroaches, it was a small room, four of us, it
:02:08. > :02:13.was really hard to move about. The bathroom was so dirty. This was the
:02:13. > :02:18.man they paid 10,000, Chaudhry Ahmed. Trading Standards spent two
:02:18. > :02:23.years pursuing him, and they got a guilty verdict today. I am pleased,
:02:23. > :02:27.the judge has taken this seriously, and the jury have backed this up.
:02:27. > :02:33.It is a sad case, not the only one in the area. We are determined to
:02:33. > :02:40.crack down on this. Millions of Muslims make the journey to Mecca,
:02:40. > :02:48.a City regarded as wholly by Muslims. The shower is on top of
:02:48. > :02:52.the toilet. They went in 2009. They believed there would stay in luxury
:02:52. > :02:58.hotels. He only found out on the plane he was not on a direct flight,
:02:58. > :03:03.and he would be coming back three days later than scheduled. Nobody
:03:03. > :03:06.knows how many people make the pilgrimage, but it is estimated to
:03:06. > :03:11.be thousands. It is thought this case could be the tip of the
:03:11. > :03:18.iceberg. From our investigations, many thousands of people go on
:03:19. > :03:22.pilgrimage, and many of and ripped off. Why are people so reticent to
:03:22. > :03:26.complain? They feel they are telling tales on members of their
:03:26. > :03:32.own community, they get pushed into a loyalty lie, but there is no
:03:32. > :03:36.royalty, they are cheating people out of thousands of pounds. --
:03:36. > :03:43.there is no royalty. I hope the other pilgrims who have the same
:03:43. > :03:47.experience will come forward, so they can be treated... A lot of
:03:47. > :03:51.them, they do not come forward. Chowdhury Ahmad's business has
:03:51. > :03:58.closed, he was released on bail and will be sentenced next month. The
:03:58. > :04:00.family is waiting to see if they will get their money back.
:04:00. > :04:05.Earlier, I spoke to Sean Tipton from the Association of British
:04:05. > :04:10.Travel Agents. Unfortunately, these cases are far
:04:10. > :04:14.from uncommon. Every year, we see situations where people have booked
:04:14. > :04:18.trips to go to Saudi Arabia, and they have been taken advantage of
:04:18. > :04:23.by some unscrupulous individuals. In the worst case, they do not
:04:23. > :04:26.provide the flights or hotels at all. Quite commonly, as we have
:04:27. > :04:31.seen, when they do provide the trips, they bear little relation to
:04:31. > :04:35.what was paid for. It seems this agent was preying on their
:04:35. > :04:40.religious devotion. This is one of the worst things, we are not
:04:40. > :04:47.talking about going on holiday, we are talking about somebody setting
:04:47. > :04:51.up a great deal of money, they have to do it once a year. If he were
:04:51. > :04:58.going on the same pilgrimage again, what should he do? The most
:04:58. > :05:03.important thing, if you are booking flights and accommodation, sold as
:05:03. > :05:06.part of a package, the travel company has to have an Air Travel
:05:06. > :05:11.Organiser's Licence, so if the company goes out of business, you
:05:11. > :05:15.will be given in your money back, or what you will be flown home free
:05:15. > :05:19.from charge. Look to see if it is one of our members, because we
:05:19. > :05:26.police them closely, and we make sure that what you are sold will be
:05:26. > :05:32.what you have paid for. If he had put up with one of our members,
:05:32. > :05:37.these problems would have been very unlucky to have occurred.
:05:37. > :05:45.-- unlikely to have occurred. Coming up, tackling obesity,
:05:45. > :05:48.research has revealed the best way to slim for good.
:05:48. > :05:52.Creating 100,000 jobs are right across the region, that is what
:05:52. > :05:56.business leader and the boss of the department store chain John Willis
:05:56. > :06:05.is aiming to do. Andy Street is the head at the Organisation, aiming to
:06:05. > :06:11.bring it regeneration to the area. We have talked about 100,000 new
:06:12. > :06:16.jobs by 2020. But ambition is a good thing, I am proud to be
:06:16. > :06:24.associated with the word, and we want to take this approach. My
:06:24. > :06:29.colleagues are talking about a stinking in a transformational way.
:06:29. > :06:34.-- talking about thinking in a transformational way. You start in
:06:34. > :06:38.the city centre, the benefits can be used elsewhere.
:06:38. > :06:43.Does everybody share his view that Birmingham can be the centre of
:06:43. > :06:48.regeneration? No, there were eyebrows raised when his colleagues
:06:48. > :06:51.decided that Birmingham City said there would be the place. Some felt
:06:51. > :06:57.that outlined areas or surrounding towns like Kidderminster could do
:06:57. > :07:01.with a beast. But he is emphatic, the centre is the vibrant economic
:07:01. > :07:07.heart which can deliver their recovery right across the West
:07:07. > :07:11.Midlands. That is some contentious politics, because many in the Black
:07:11. > :07:15.Country do not take that view. Others in Stoke-on-Trent, they do
:07:15. > :07:19.not. They are still smarting over the recent failure to get an
:07:19. > :07:25.enterprise zone. That is something that comes through very loud and
:07:25. > :07:31.clear. The case for Stoke-on-Trent is
:07:31. > :07:35.beyond doubt. We were led to believe that it was about the
:07:35. > :07:42.population figures, and we would have qualified and met the criteria.
:07:42. > :07:47.We were clear what we wanted. I just feel that we have to live with
:07:47. > :07:54.the fact that we have to find another route.
:07:54. > :07:58.Did Andy Street have any advice for Stoke-on-Trent and Coventry on how
:07:58. > :08:01.they missed out but he did not? does not want to comment on other
:08:01. > :08:05.failed bids any more than he wants to talk about other department
:08:05. > :08:09.stores, but he said that one of the successes in Birmingham was that
:08:09. > :08:12.they worked very hard with the government to find out exactly what
:08:12. > :08:15.the government wanted them to deliver, and they worked quickly to
:08:15. > :08:19.make sure that it could start delivering it.
:08:19. > :08:23.In all of our negotiations with the government, we have worked hard to
:08:23. > :08:29.understand exactly what they want, and we have been quick to put our
:08:29. > :08:36.case in, and hopefully we met the criteria. Our evidence is that that
:08:36. > :08:43.has been successful. He seems very positive. He must
:08:43. > :08:49.realise this is a huge challenge. This, one of his top suppliers,
:08:49. > :08:56.Emma Bridgewater, they recently laid off 20 people, and there is
:08:56. > :09:00.more about this on my website. As one of Britain's leading
:09:00. > :09:04.shopkeepers, he will be under no illusions.
:09:04. > :09:07.You can see the full interview with Andy Street and the debate on what
:09:07. > :09:17.differences local enterprise partnerships can make to the West
:09:17. > :09:19.
:09:19. > :09:21.A man is in hospital with leg and chest injuries after being shot.
:09:21. > :09:26.The police were called to a property in Woodfield Road in
:09:26. > :09:30.Balsall Heath last night. A gunshot was heard. Detectives have not
:09:30. > :09:34.named him, but he is said to be in a stable condition.
:09:34. > :09:40.A meeting has been scheduled to discuss whether to close Stafford
:09:40. > :09:42.Hospital's A&E department overnight. It is one of a number of options
:09:42. > :09:46.following a critical report by the Care Quality Commission. The trust
:09:46. > :09:54.has struggled to recruit staff due to a national shortage of A&E
:09:54. > :09:57.consultants. It could mean A&E closing from 10pm to 8:00am.
:09:57. > :10:01.Diet programmes run by private companies are cheaper and more
:10:01. > :10:04.effective than those offered by GPs or pharmacies, according to
:10:04. > :10:08.research by the University of Birmingham. We have one of the
:10:08. > :10:13.highest a visitor rates in the country. It is hoped this new
:10:14. > :10:17.research could change how GPs tackle this weighty issue.
:10:17. > :10:21.This medical centre in Bartley Green is referring to increasing
:10:21. > :10:25.numbers of patients to commercial programmes, since funding became

:10:35. > :10:42.talk about them going to a commercial group, but often, the
:10:42. > :10:48.costs were prohibitive. Being able to provide somebody without she's -

:11:20. > :11:23.We can offer our members support and encouragement to do more
:11:24. > :11:29.activity, to have a healthier lifestyle and make the sensible
:11:29. > :11:34.choices. They are in a meeting that is full of other people, we are all
:11:34. > :11:40.doing the same thing. Some patients are referred by GPs, others pay

:14:21. > :14:26.And then Jean Beausejour it gave them a penalty. It felt like a win.
:14:26. > :14:30.Where does this leave us in terms of the knockout stages? Two games

:23:15. > :23:17.playing live again after 30 years and that is thanks to guitarist Mr
:23:17. > :23:21.Goulding, or go straight to the reunion. That is the reason he has
:23:21. > :23:28.been selected over the other members to be an inaugural name on
:23:28. > :23:33.the music hall of fame. The party has been going on all afternoon and
:23:33. > :23:43.is just about coming to an end. Let's speak to two who have got
:23:43. > :23:46.
:23:46. > :23:53.plaques. It is so important that To Tone were involved? Yes. It is what
:23:53. > :23:57.makes Coventry such a fantastic place musically. We are probably
:23:57. > :24:02.the most well known but this man is global! Lots of great things have
:24:02. > :24:09.come from this that people stop it could have been very easy to get
:24:09. > :24:16.six guys but they have gone a bit diverse. You must be very, very
:24:16. > :24:20.proud? I feel very humble. It is a great privilege to be honoured by
:24:20. > :24:25.York, Dorset people stop they were about the views and music together
:24:25. > :24:30.and that is why I feel I have supported Coventry. Pete has always
:24:30. > :24:36.supported me from a young age and I have had a lot of people to be
:24:36. > :24:42.inspired by. If let's speed to Pete Chambers, who has organised this.
:24:42. > :24:48.Quite a range of names. People might be surprised? Yes. I am
:24:48. > :24:51.always banging on about the fact that Coventry is so much more. We
:24:51. > :24:56.might not be able to compete with Manchester and Sheffield, but we
:24:56. > :25:01.have got a lot going for us and we are going to have a music museum
:25:01. > :25:05.here, so it is going to be exciting days and we will show everybody.
:25:05. > :25:11.These are the first six and these guys have got them, but I am sure
:25:11. > :25:16.there will be plenty more. Back to you. Thank you. What a line-up! It
:25:17. > :25:25.is fantastic. If now we will talk about bonfire night, and it has
:25:25. > :25:30.been damned. What is going to Tomorrow looks a bit better because
:25:30. > :25:34.fireworks parties tonight could turn into a damp squib. It is clear
:25:34. > :25:38.when we look at the radar picture. These other showers that pushed up
:25:38. > :25:43.from the South and you can see the green and yellow colours indicating
:25:43. > :25:51.where we had very heavy downpours, and some rain is still a -- is
:25:51. > :25:55.still falling, particularly across western and northern parts. Whether
:25:55. > :26:00.cloud goes away, we could have mist and fog tomorrow morning, and
:26:00. > :26:04.feeling fairly chilly. The prospects for the weekend are not
:26:04. > :26:08.looking too bad. It should be mostly dry but you will notice
:26:08. > :26:13.things turning cooler. The reason for the more settled outlook is
:26:13. > :26:18.this ridge of high pressure. This is just edging its way towards us
:26:18. > :26:24.and that is what will squeeze out the weather systems and dry things
:26:24. > :26:30.up into the weekend. Saturday is looking like a decent day and any -
:26:30. > :26:37.- any early mist and fog should clear a wear. The West is always
:26:37. > :26:42.clinging on to a bit more cloud. We will have a fairly brisk northerly
:26:43. > :26:49.breeze. In most places, things are looking dry but we do have to watch
:26:49. > :26:56.some rain that is going to come perilously close to the is. In
:26:56. > :26:59.Rugby, we could see some spits or spots of rain. We will see some
:26:59. > :27:03.clear spells in Shrewsbury and because of that, it will turn
:27:03. > :27:10.fairly chilly. Sunday, another mainly dry day with the best of the
:27:10. > :27:14.sunshine in the West and more cloud in the South and the East. In terms
:27:15. > :27:24.of bonfire night, tonight, you will see some rain but tomorrow looks
:27:24. > :27:28.Let's have a look at tonight's main headlines. G20 leaders leave Cannes
:27:28. > :27:37.with some agreement to boost finances but no detail on how to
