:00:06. > :00:09.Good evening. A 12-year-old boy is being treated as a potentially

:00:09. > :00:14.significant witness after a woman died from multiple stab wounds at a

:00:14. > :00:17.flat in Wolverhampton. Police launched a murder investigation

:00:17. > :00:22.after the 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene in the

:00:23. > :00:26.Whitmore Reans area yesterday. She suffered 18 separate stab wounds. A

:00:26. > :00:29.man, who was also found at the flat with stab injuries, is being

:00:29. > :00:33.treated in hospital. The boy is currently being cared for by

:00:33. > :00:36.specially trained police officers. Wards at four separate hospitals

:00:36. > :00:40.across the region have been shut after an outbreak of the winter

:00:40. > :00:42.vomiting bug norovirus. Visitors are being told to stay away from

:00:42. > :00:49.wards at three hospitals in South Warwickshire including Warwick

:00:49. > :00:54.Hospital. Ward one at Walsall Manor Hospital is also closed. But

:00:54. > :00:57.visitors are being allowed again at City Hospital in Birmingham.

:00:57. > :01:00.Three men have been jointly charged with murder after a 23-year-old man

:01:00. > :01:05.was stabbed to death in Shrewsbury. Jason Scott Cooke died during an

:01:05. > :01:08.incident in the Monkmoor area of the town on Tuesday evening. The

:01:08. > :01:10.three men, who are all aged 24, have also been jointly charged with

:01:10. > :01:15.burglary. They will appear before a special sitting of Telford

:01:15. > :01:20.Magistrates tomorrow morning. Four other men arrested in connection

:01:20. > :01:24.with the incident have been given bail while inquiries continue.

:01:24. > :01:29.A former soldier who was severely burned in Iraq is on the verge of

:01:29. > :01:33.running his 52nd marathon in a year. Karl Hinett from Tipton in the

:01:34. > :01:36.Black Country will run his last race in Liverpool tomorrow. As Bob

:01:36. > :01:40.Hockenhull reports, he has raised more than 20,000 for the burns

:01:40. > :01:45.unit where he was treated. Karl Hinett's running exploits this

:01:45. > :01:48.year have taken him much further than his local park. 51 marathons

:01:48. > :01:58.so far in 19 countries starting with Zurich in Switzerland at

:01:58. > :01:59.

:01:59. > :02:04.midnight on January 1st. The first marathon they felt like it I had

:02:04. > :02:11.maybe bitten off a little bit more than I could chew. I took it a week

:02:11. > :02:15.at a time and hero am. -- here I am. An oustanding achievement for

:02:15. > :02:18.anyone, but particularly for Karl who was in a coma for 11 days after

:02:18. > :02:25.his tank was petrol bombed in Basra in 2005. The Staffordshire Regiment

:02:25. > :02:32.soldier suffered 37% burns and endured five years of surgery.

:02:32. > :02:37.first challenge was looking in the mirror. Because of the scars. But

:02:37. > :02:40.again, you start off small and work your way up. His charity marathon

:02:40. > :02:45.challenge has raised 20,000 for the burns unit at Queen Elizabeth

:02:45. > :02:48.Hospital in Birmingham. Karl is confident he will manage this

:02:48. > :02:50.weekend's marathon in Liverpool. After all, he is planning ultra

:02:51. > :02:59.races in the Amazon and the Antarctic and will also climb

:02:59. > :03:06.Everest for another charity. He aims to run 100 marathons by the

:03:06. > :03:11.end of 2012. He is confident he will manage the back-to-back

:03:11. > :03:15.marathons in Liverpool this weekend. He will be running in the Antarctic

:03:15. > :03:18.and Amazon later in the air and will also climb Everest for another

:03:18. > :03:22.charity. In a little over 24 hours time, we

:03:22. > :03:25.will enter the Olympic year of 2012. And to mark the occasion, the torch

:03:25. > :03:27.from the last time the Games were held in this country was brought to

:03:27. > :03:31.Birmingham. Kevin Reide reports. 91-year-old Olympic cyclist Tommy

:03:31. > :03:34.Godwin in Birmingham today with the two bronze medals he won in the

:03:34. > :03:37.1948 London Games. Joining him, fellow cyclist Harry Reynolds who

:03:37. > :03:43.later won silver. And future hopeful, Birchfield Harrier

:03:43. > :03:46.sprinter Amelia Benjamin with the 1948 torch. The trio were

:03:46. > :03:56.highlighting Birmingham's role in the Olympics as the city plays host

:03:56. > :03:56.

:03:56. > :04:00.to both the American and Jamaican Athletics teams. The idea of the

:04:00. > :04:05.Games coming to London and the effect it has had on Birmingham and

:04:05. > :04:12.the Midlands from the commercial side is wonderful. And Tommy thinks

:04:12. > :04:20.it will all be very different from when he was involved. The media was

:04:20. > :04:25.not interested in those days. There was a little bit in the paper. The

:04:25. > :04:28.team was put together two weeks before and you were told, you are

:04:28. > :04:35.on the Olympic team. But what do today's youngster think it will be

:04:35. > :04:40.like? I think more young people will come to the Games. It will

:04:40. > :04:42.have a possible impact on sport in Birmingham. -- positive impact.

:04:42. > :04:45.Meanwhile, here in Coventry, the excitement is also building, as

:04:45. > :04:49.this city is one of the few venues outside London specially selected

:04:49. > :04:53.to host some of the Games. We have got 12 Olympic football matches

:04:53. > :04:57.coming up to Coventry, 250,000 people are expected to come to the

:04:57. > :05:00.City. We are really looking forward to it. So for the Midlands, it is

:05:00. > :05:02.roll on London 2012. Onto football now and the Wolves'

:05:02. > :05:06.manager Mick McCarthy has angrily criticised the decision to uphold a

:05:06. > :05:09.red card given to one of his players. Nenad Milijas was sent off

:05:09. > :05:19.during the 1-1 draw at Arsenal three days ago and an appeal by

:05:19. > :05:24.Wolves was thrown out. Nick Clitheroe reports. I wonder what

:05:24. > :05:27.kind of a view he has got... This was a press conference with a

:05:27. > :05:34.difference. Mick McCarthy decided to turn the tables and start asking

:05:34. > :05:36.us questions. Does anybody think it was a sending off? He's angry that

:05:37. > :05:43.an FA disciplinary panel upheld referee Stuart Atwell's decision to

:05:43. > :05:49.send Nenad Milijas off for this tackle at the Emirates. There is

:05:49. > :05:54.one person who thinks it is, one referee I have spoken to think it

:05:54. > :05:58.is a booking. Who sits on the panel and who decides when everybody but

:05:58. > :06:02.one in here and everyone I have spoken to think that is a bad

:06:02. > :06:05.decision, who has compounded that bad decision by agreeing with them

:06:05. > :06:09.and why would that happen? To back up his argument, he had prepared

:06:09. > :06:12.another clip of what he suggested was a very similar tackle by Ronald

:06:12. > :06:14.Zubar which did not even lead to a free-kick. But despite his anger at

:06:14. > :06:19.the injustice, McCarthy is delighted with their performance

:06:19. > :06:22.and hoping the players repeat it at Bolton tomorrow.

:06:22. > :06:26.And you can keep up-to-date with your team's fortunes over the busy

:06:26. > :06:29.Bank Holiday period on your BBC local radio station.

:06:29. > :06:39.So it's out with the old and in with the new tomorrow night. But

:06:39. > :06:44.what will the weather have in store It has been a thoroughly at soggy

:06:44. > :06:48.affair for many of us to date. Quite a lot of rain and some mild

:06:48. > :06:52.air bear it. You will certainly notice that this evening and

:06:52. > :06:56.overnight. It will turn very mild indeed. It has been an

:06:57. > :07:00.exceptionally warm year. The Met Office have just given as the

:07:00. > :07:04.statistics. It was the second warmest year on record in the

:07:04. > :07:11.Midlands. It was also the driest since 1960 fault. You might

:07:11. > :07:16.struggle to believe that with all of the main debate! -- with all of

:07:16. > :07:19.the rain today! It may be a bit misty over the hills but in our

:07:19. > :07:26.there will come tomorrow morning said temperatures will be in double

:07:26. > :07:30.figures. Tomorrow will be mild. Some outbreaks of light, patchy

:07:30. > :07:34.rain and drizzle. A better chance of seeing something brighter in the

:07:34. > :07:37.south and east. Look at the temperatures! Exceptional for the

:07:37. > :07:44.time of year. If you are celebrating tomorrow night, there

:07:44. > :07:48.will be a bit of rain at times. It will be breezy and very mild. Some
