:00:00. > 3:59:59looks a better day this weekend. That's all from us. It's goodbye

:00:00. > :00:08.from me. And on Hello and welcome to Midlands Today.

:00:09. > :00:12.The headlines tonight: The Shropshire family who went to court

:00:13. > :00:21.and lost over their right to have a summer holiday during school term

:00:22. > :00:26.time. Because me and my wife both work, it is like a Rolling door. One

:00:27. > :00:31.is that work, the other is that time. We felt like family time was

:00:32. > :00:35.needed. Is it fair? We'll be hearing from you. Also tonight: Up for the

:00:36. > :00:37.Cup ` it's Premier League opposition next time, as non`League

:00:38. > :00:46.Kidderminster make it through to the FA Cup fourth round. I can't

:00:47. > :00:49.describe the feeling. It is unbelievable. If you could bottle

:00:50. > :00:53.it, due would make a fortune. As the row over the TV show Benefits

:00:54. > :00:55.Street rumbles on, we're live at a public meeting where residents hope

:00:56. > :00:59.to restore their image. All aboard for a good read. The

:01:00. > :01:06.primary school that's plumped for a rather unusual library. We try and

:01:07. > :01:10.encourage outdoor learning. They can come on the boat and read a book.

:01:11. > :01:14.And today's temperatures may have been above average, but there's

:01:15. > :01:21.still no escaping the rain. Will we get a break from it soon? Your full

:01:22. > :01:25.forecast is coming up later. Good evening. Fined nearly ?1,000,

:01:26. > :01:28.the couple from Telford who to went to court to fight for their right to

:01:29. > :01:32.take their children on holiday during term time. Stewart Sutherland

:01:33. > :01:36.took his wife Natasha, their two daughters and son to Rhodes last

:01:37. > :01:40.October but he hadn't got permission from their schools for the break. He

:01:41. > :01:44.was fined when they returned to school but refused to pay the local

:01:45. > :01:56.authority, and today he appeared at Telford Magistrates' Court. Joanne

:01:57. > :01:59.Writtle reports. Stewart and Natasha Sutherland arrived at Telford

:02:00. > :02:02.Magistrates' Court to face the consequences of taking their three

:02:03. > :02:08.children on a weeks holiday during term time. Earlier at home in

:02:09. > :02:11.Telford, Sutherland said his job with the Ministry of Defence guard

:02:12. > :02:16.service at Donington had prevented him from taking leave in the school

:02:17. > :02:22.holidays. I couldn't get the time off over the holiday period. After

:02:23. > :02:28.five years of being missing out on a summer holiday, I decided I should

:02:29. > :02:34.take them away from `` for salmon `` family time. It is just as important

:02:35. > :02:38.as education. The council told us that new, stricter laws that came

:02:39. > :02:42.into force last September met holidays could only be granted in

:02:43. > :02:49.term time in exceptional circumstances. This is the couple,

:02:50. > :02:53.their teenage daughters and their son last September. They said they

:02:54. > :02:57.booked the holiday a year in advance before the tighter laws came in

:02:58. > :03:01.play. They appeared in court after twice refusing to pay a fixed

:03:02. > :03:06.penalty fine. But today, they add omitted failing to ensure their

:03:07. > :03:12.children attended school regularly, they were ordered to pay in early

:03:13. > :03:14.?1000 in fines and costs. If the whole country took their time off

:03:15. > :03:19.over the school holiday, the country would come to a standstill. Able to

:03:20. > :03:25.put in these laws and policies don't live in the real world. At their

:03:26. > :03:30.son's infant school, parents had mixed views on term time holidays.

:03:31. > :03:36.That children's education is important and to take the children

:03:37. > :03:43.out chewing term isn't right. When you have an office of 30 people time

:03:44. > :03:47.to get time off, it is awkward. I don't believe children should be

:03:48. > :03:50.taken out of school or the time but if it is a one off like that, yes, I

:03:51. > :03:56.think you should be allowed to do that. Sutherland said he had no

:03:57. > :03:59.regrets. Their first family holiday for five years had been a special

:04:00. > :04:02.one. Well, this story has caused quite a

:04:03. > :04:09.debate on Twitter and our Facebook pages. Nearly 19,000 people viewed

:04:10. > :04:15.the story and we have had hundreds of comments. Thank you for getting

:04:16. > :04:18.in touch. Carol Everitt Wolliter said "We wouldn't have to take our

:04:19. > :04:21.children out of school if holiday prices were reasonable during school

:04:22. > :04:25.holiday time!" Lucy Wilgress told us "Our parents always took us out of

:04:26. > :04:29.school for holidays and made sure we caught up. It didn't do my education

:04:30. > :04:32.any harm." But Si Anderson said "Children are at school to learn why

:04:33. > :04:36.would parents want to disadvantage their kids just for the sake of a

:04:37. > :04:40.holiday." And we'll have more of your views on this at the end of the

:04:41. > :04:44.programme. You can send an email to Midlandstoday@bbc.co.uk. We are also

:04:45. > :04:46.on Facebook or you can tweet us ` @bbcmtd.

:04:47. > :04:50.Coming up later in the programme: The day that shocked a city ` two

:04:51. > :04:57.random stabbings later linked with three murders elsewhere.

:04:58. > :05:01.Soaring high after a famous victory, Kidderminster Harriers are

:05:02. > :05:05.celebrating after their FA Cup giant killing last night. They beat League

:05:06. > :05:10.One Peterborough United 3`2 and will now face Premier League Sunderland

:05:11. > :05:14.in the next round. Last night's win was worth more than ?67,000 to the

:05:15. > :05:18.non`League club. And today, Harriers sold the man who scored their

:05:19. > :05:26.winning goal in a deal that could eventually be worth ?1 million. Ian

:05:27. > :05:29.Winter reports. Back home in Birmingham, after the

:05:30. > :05:33.best night of his football career, Jack Byrne, Harriers man of the

:05:34. > :05:41.match dreamt of playing in games like this during 12 months out

:05:42. > :05:45.injured with a ruptured Achilles. I can't describe the feeling. It is an

:05:46. > :05:49.unbelievable being. If you could bottle it, dude could make a

:05:50. > :05:52.fortune. Two goals in four minutes soon half`time turned this Cup`tie

:05:53. > :05:55.on its head. Michael Gash put Kidderminster level at 1`1. And then

:05:56. > :05:59.Byrne himself popped in number two. But they saved the best till last, a

:06:00. > :06:03.real gem from Joe Lolley to clinch a famous 3`2 victory. The perfect way

:06:04. > :06:05.for the talented young striker to say farewell before joining

:06:06. > :06:10.Huddersfield Town this afternoon. It's all been

:06:11. > :06:17.they hopefully will be on sale tomorrow morning. It has been

:06:18. > :06:20.frantic for the Harriers chairman. After all it's not every day you

:06:21. > :06:24.reluctantly sell your star player to a Championship club whilst trying to

:06:25. > :06:27.agree your ticket allocation for the next round of the Cup. Kidderminster

:06:28. > :06:32.may be the only non`league club involved in the FA Cup but their

:06:33. > :06:38.fourth`round tie away to premiere sunburnt hasn't been chosen as a

:06:39. > :06:43.live televised game. That would have brought in ?144,000. Very

:06:44. > :06:49.frustrating. It is not down to us. But ?145,000. That is an awful

:06:50. > :06:53.amount of money. That helps us build for the future and it is maybe money

:06:54. > :06:58.that we wouldn't always send on `` spend on players but on

:06:59. > :07:04.infrastructure. But to be involved and it is great. It is great. The

:07:05. > :07:10.only non`league club to be in the FA Cup fourth round is superb. Day you

:07:11. > :07:15.dream of beating Sunderland? obviously, it is going to be a great

:07:16. > :07:27.end `` occasion and we have got to enjoy it. I have ever felt something

:07:28. > :07:31.like it since we played another game 20 years ago. My heart was really

:07:32. > :07:36.pounding, I just couldn't believe the atmosphere, it was absolutely

:07:37. > :07:40.Britain. `` absolutely brilliant. The chairman would love to see

:07:41. > :07:43.Harriers take more than 10,000 fans up to Sunderland. But first, he's

:07:44. > :07:47.trying to sign a new player from Argentina to fill the gap left by

:07:48. > :07:50.the sale of Joe Lolley. It's been quite day in Kidderminster And Ian

:07:51. > :07:57.Winter is here now, a terrific moment for the new manager and the

:07:58. > :08:04.whole town. It has been amazing night. Well done

:08:05. > :08:05.to Birmingham City. Let's go to St Andrews.

:08:06. > :08:09.It has been amazing night. Well done to Birmingham City. Let's go Chris

:08:10. > :08:13.Burke scored twice in the last few minutes to send Birmingham City

:08:14. > :08:20.through with a 3`0 victory over Bristol Rovers. Port Vale's blanc

:08:21. > :08:26.trip to Devon paid dividends with a 3`2 win at Plymouth and they fought

:08:27. > :08:32.back despite only having ten men. This is what the rail fans had to

:08:33. > :08:43.say about the win. Thrilled. Gives us a bit more extra money, doesn't

:08:44. > :08:48.it? Come on the Vale. Well, those fourth`round ties will be played the

:08:49. > :08:52.weekend off the next. That is in ten days time.

:08:53. > :08:55.A public meeting's underway in Birmingham this evening in response

:08:56. > :08:55.to the controversial TV documentary Benefits Street.

:08:56. > :08:57.A public meeting's underway in Birmingham this evening in The

:08:58. > :09:00.Channel four programme features the residents of James Turner Street in

:09:01. > :09:03.Winson Green. The meeting's been organised by the headmistress of the

:09:04. > :09:07.local school to promote a more positive image of the area. Holly

:09:08. > :09:09.Lewis is outside the meeting now. Holly, feelings have been running

:09:10. > :09:17.high since the programme started, what's the atmosphere like tonight?

:09:18. > :09:21.Well, I think it has been quite a quiet start to the meeting tonight.

:09:22. > :09:25.Around 80 B will have turned up. More coming even as we are speaking

:09:26. > :09:30.now and the meeting is being held in the school in the room behind me

:09:31. > :09:34.here. The second episode of the programme aired on Monday. It

:09:35. > :09:39.features the residents of this straight and has been criticised for

:09:40. > :09:43.demonising people on benefits and for showing an un`representative

:09:44. > :09:47.view of the people on that street by focusing on the more extreme

:09:48. > :09:51.characters. Some people asked the headmistress of the school here to

:09:52. > :09:56.hold this meeting and the school is now run by the charity races UK, the

:09:57. > :10:00.Christian charity and their director Steve Chalke is with me now. What

:10:01. > :10:04.are you hoping to get from the meeting? We want to give the

:10:05. > :10:08.opportunity to the community to speak their mind. It is all pent up,

:10:09. > :10:12.the anger inside them, I have encountered a lot of it. If they can

:10:13. > :10:17.get it out, it will be like a pressure valve released. The thick

:10:18. > :10:20.`` the second thing we have to do that is help the community get

:10:21. > :10:24.beyond it. The anger needs to come out, the voices need to be heard and

:10:25. > :10:31.we will give everybody a chance to speak so it is... We will get people

:10:32. > :10:36.to put down their ideas, how people feel let down and at the end of the

:10:37. > :10:39.evening, I have good news for people and that is that I have been

:10:40. > :10:44.negotiating with Channel four all day and they just agreed about our

:10:45. > :10:48.ago that after the last episode of this programme, there is going to be

:10:49. > :10:53.a studio debate, a question Time debate and the community will be

:10:54. > :10:58.represented, that is what I have fought for. Some people might say

:10:59. > :11:03.you have, from London, what do you know about the problems here in

:11:04. > :11:09.Birmingham? Not a lot. That is why this is about me fighting all day. I

:11:10. > :11:13.was interviewed by BBC you feel `` national news all day. And I said

:11:14. > :11:24.what I want is a voice for these people. I will bring you the latest

:11:25. > :11:27.this evening. Two men have been arrested in connection with slavery

:11:28. > :11:31.offences after four men were found in squalid conditions in a

:11:32. > :11:36.Birmingham house this week. There were arrested on suspicion of human

:11:37. > :11:39.trafficking. Last Friday, a 54`year`old man was charged with

:11:40. > :11:46.four counts of knowingly numbing `` holding another person in the

:11:47. > :11:48.savoury of servitude. `` in slavery or servitude.

:11:49. > :11:51.Police have been given five more days to question two 21`year`old men

:11:52. > :11:54.from Handsworth in Birmingham on suspicion of terror offences. The

:11:55. > :11:57.pair were detained at Heathrow Airport on Monday, after flying in

:11:58. > :12:00.from Istanbul. They were arrested on suspicion of being involved in

:12:01. > :12:04.terrorist activities in Syria. Virgin Trains has scrapped plans to

:12:05. > :12:07.run direct services from Shrewsbury to London from May this year because

:12:08. > :12:10.the proposed timings were said to be unattractive to passengers and

:12:11. > :12:13.wouldn't have been economically viable. Direct services to the

:12:14. > :12:16.capital were lost two years ago when the Wrexham and Shropshire Railway

:12:17. > :12:19.scrapped its daily services. Virgin says talks are ongoing with Network

:12:20. > :12:29.Rail to identify better timings for its trains that would attract more

:12:30. > :12:33.passengers. Plans to reassess all people with learning difficulties

:12:34. > :12:38.who use Staffordshire County Council care centres are to go ahead. The

:12:39. > :12:41.authority confirmed today it will close centres in Kidsgrove and

:12:42. > :12:44.console despite protests by campaigners but the council says it

:12:45. > :12:57.hopes that 70% of users add the remaining centres will no longer

:12:58. > :13:00.need help. A court's been hearing details today of what led to two

:13:01. > :13:03.random stabbings in Hereford. Two people were hurt in separate attacks

:13:04. > :13:06.in the city last April. The stabbings were then linked to three

:13:07. > :13:09.murders in Cambridgeshire. Our reporter Jo Black has been at

:13:10. > :13:18.Cambridge Crown Court for us this morning. So, Jo, what's happened

:13:19. > :13:23.today? We heard about the killer in this story and how she went on a ten

:13:24. > :13:26.day murderous spree. She has already admitted murdering three men that

:13:27. > :13:30.she knew in the Peter Barrett area in March of last year. She stabbed

:13:31. > :13:35.them in the heart and then dumped their bodies in ditches. `` in the

:13:36. > :13:39.Peterborough area. We heard she showed one of the bodies to a

:13:40. > :13:43.teenage girl that she knew. We also heard that after she had killed her

:13:44. > :13:51.second victim, she was heard singing the Brittany the bash Britney Spears

:13:52. > :13:54.song, I did it again. The project use and say she had helped dispose

:13:55. > :13:59.of the bodies and covering her tracks. That is why we have two

:14:00. > :14:06.defendants in the dock here at the Crown Court. Gary stretch and Leslie

:14:07. > :14:11.Leighton both deny helping the woman dispose of the bodies. Gary stretch

:14:12. > :14:15.also denies two counts of attended murder in Hereford and this is

:14:16. > :14:20.because this story started in Cambridgeshire but ended up in

:14:21. > :14:25.Hereford because Joanna went with Gary stretch and said find me a

:14:26. > :14:29.victim, I want to have some fun and she randomly stabbed two men in the

:14:30. > :14:34.street in Hereford. The cord is excited to hear about those attacks

:14:35. > :14:41.in Hereford, isn't it? `` the court is expected to hear about. we have

:14:42. > :14:44.heard how the defendants had stolen one of the dogs from one of the

:14:45. > :14:48.victims to keep it as a trophy and the two of them then went looking

:14:49. > :14:54.for dog food. Both just the defendants deny `` denied the

:14:55. > :14:57.charges. Our top story tonight: The

:14:58. > :15:01.Shropshire family who went to court and lost over their right to have a

:15:02. > :15:05.summer holiday during school term time. Your thoughts on this to come.

:15:06. > :15:08.Rebecca's standing by with the weather. Also ahead: A mum and world

:15:09. > :15:16.class violinist, now she's recognised for bringing classical

:15:17. > :15:20.music to young people. And join me to find out why this canal boat is

:15:21. > :15:27.making its maiden four`year judge to dry land. `` its maiden voyage.

:15:28. > :15:32.Sikh leaders in the West Midlands are to stage a series of meetings to

:15:33. > :15:35.appeal for calm in their community. It follows yesterday's revelations

:15:36. > :15:40.that the 1984 massacre at Amritsar's Golden Temple may have been planned

:15:41. > :15:46.with British help. This region has the biggest Sikh population in the

:15:47. > :15:50.UK. Here's Bob Hockenhull. It may be 30 years since hundreds

:15:51. > :15:55.died in an attack on Amritsar's Golden Temple. But the event is

:15:56. > :16:03.still raw for Sikhs living in the Midlands. Their feelings were summed

:16:04. > :16:07.up in Parliament today. This is an open wound which will not heal until

:16:08. > :16:10.the full truth is told. Documents released under the 30`year rule have

:16:11. > :16:13.suggested a British SAS officer may have helped plan the raid with the

:16:14. > :16:16.knowledge of then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The revelation

:16:17. > :16:19.has shocked Sikhs living here who're calling for an inquiry announced by

:16:20. > :16:27.the Prime Minister to be conducted swiftly to allay any tensions.

:16:28. > :16:32.Thereafter heightened tensions within the community, mainly because

:16:33. > :16:35.it has come as a complete surprise. We have lived here for many

:16:36. > :16:39.generations and we are part of British life so we were not

:16:40. > :16:47.expecting this news at all. What happened 30 years ago is deep in the

:16:48. > :16:54.Sikh psyche. A series of meetings are being planned to call for calm.

:16:55. > :16:58.The MP issued this challenge today. You'll macro why doesn't the Priime

:16:59. > :17:02.Minister ask Leon Brittan and Lord Geoffrey Howe what they agreed with

:17:03. > :17:09.Margaret Thatcher and whether it had anything to do with the Westland

:17:10. > :17:12.helicopter deal at the time. I've you'll macro I fear the honourable

:17:13. > :17:17.gentleman may have gotten conspiracy fear too far on this one. It is

:17:18. > :17:20.important that the get the bottom of what happened. Seeks here agree and

:17:21. > :17:26.say that documents leading to the document be made public. Now,

:17:27. > :17:29.something to many of us will identify with.

:17:30. > :17:32.The problem of potholes on our roads is on the rise, according to the

:17:33. > :17:35.RAC. They say call`outs involving problems such as broken suspension

:17:36. > :17:38.and damaged wheels were up by two`thirds last year. But it's a

:17:39. > :17:42.constant struggle for councils to keep up. In the West Midlands they

:17:43. > :17:45.look after around 20,000 miles of road. Each local authority on

:17:46. > :17:48.average has to deal with 14,000 potholes. We've been asking you

:17:49. > :17:53.about your experiences on the roads and Sarah Falkland has more details.

:17:54. > :17:57.We've had a really strong response on this. Lots of you have been in

:17:58. > :18:02.touch. Richard Hayes from Newcastle under Lyme in Staffordshire said he

:18:03. > :18:06.hit this at 30mph on his motorbike. It burst the tyre and snapped the

:18:07. > :18:10.crank shaft. Joanna Middlecote from Hereford sent us this picture of her

:18:11. > :18:13.tyre damage. She says the council actually filled the pothole the day

:18:14. > :18:17.she hit it because there'd been so many complaints. Amy Marie Finnegan

:18:18. > :18:21.told us about a great big hole at the Scott Arms junction in Great

:18:22. > :18:28.Barr. Her dad went over the handle bars of his bike when he

:18:29. > :18:32.inadvertently cycled into it. We went to try and find it today, I

:18:33. > :18:36.think they must have filled it in. Some councils are more proactive

:18:37. > :18:39.than others. Even Roger Caton snapped these two big potholes on

:18:40. > :18:42.the high street in Pattingham in South Staffordshire. So, And near to

:18:43. > :18:46.the Baggies football club, we found this. That's a nasty clank you don't

:18:47. > :18:50.want to hear. That hole is much deeper than it looks. It measured a

:18:51. > :18:53.good ten or 11 centimetres. Thanks to Phillip Tovey`Jenkins who told us

:18:54. > :18:57.the whole of Stratford Rd through Shirley is awful. You're not wrong,

:18:58. > :19:00.Phillip. It's terrible. We found these quite large potholes on the

:19:01. > :19:04.Robin Hood island but then coming back into the city, we found this

:19:05. > :19:07.enormous hole, about 13cm deep. Thankfully so near the side of the

:19:08. > :19:12.road most cars were managing to avoid. Finally, Katie Oliver form

:19:13. > :19:16.Newcastle under lyme emailed to say there was a big pothole just off the

:19:17. > :19:20.kerb in Fenton which alsmost tipped her six`month`old daughter out of

:19:21. > :19:24.her pushchair. She says she told the council but nothing been done about

:19:25. > :19:28.it. And finally, Mo Razzak from Sutton Coldfield emailed to say he

:19:29. > :19:33.and his wife have had damage to their cars totalling ?700. They've

:19:34. > :19:36.been trying to pursue a claim via Birmingham City Council. The whole

:19:37. > :19:46.thing has dragged on for three years. Some real shock is there.

:19:47. > :19:48.In football and away from the FA Cup, Walsall moved into the

:19:49. > :19:52.promotion playoff positions in League One last night. Sam Mantom's

:19:53. > :19:56.second half goal was enough to give them a 1`0 victory over Oldham at

:19:57. > :20:00.the Banks's Stadium. But they were grateful to a penalty save in injury

:20:01. > :20:07.time by goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell to preserve the victory which takes

:20:08. > :20:09.them up to sixth. Well done to Walsall.

:20:10. > :20:11.A world class violinist with the City of Birmingham Symphony

:20:12. > :20:14.Orchestra has been given an award for bringing classical music to a

:20:15. > :20:17.young audience. Catherine Arlidge says she was inspired by her own

:20:18. > :20:21.three children which has now resulted in an Unsung Hero award by

:20:22. > :20:25.the Royal Philharmonic Society and the Association of British

:20:26. > :20:32.Orchestras. Our arts reporter Satnam Rana has been to meet her.

:20:33. > :20:38.It's just another musical morning for Catherine Arlidge and her

:20:39. > :20:40.family. But this is no ordinary mum. She's an award`winning mum who's

:20:41. > :20:46.been recognised nationally for her work at the City of Birmingham

:20:47. > :20:49.Symphony Orchestra. It was her young family which inspired Catherine to

:20:50. > :21:00.create a programme of educational, toddler and family concerts. It is

:21:01. > :21:06.quite a good idea. And my mum thought of it. So, I am quite proud

:21:07. > :21:12.of her. You must be very proud of her. Jess, exactly. I couldn't be

:21:13. > :21:17.prouder of anyone else in the world as my mum. Cath has worked here for

:21:18. > :21:20.23 years as a sub principal violinist and is now a board member.

:21:21. > :21:23.She's been instrumental in putting together innovative Clock on to

:21:24. > :21:31.Safety Concerts bringing education alive through music. I think we are

:21:32. > :21:37.custodians of our cultural heritage. We have a duty to communicate that.

:21:38. > :21:43.If nobody knows Mozart exists, it will be a dreadful future. I think

:21:44. > :21:46.we have a duty and I think it is not `` an enormous privilege for me

:21:47. > :21:49.personally to open door and make that fantastic connection for

:21:50. > :21:52.people. Now a recipient of the Salomon Award, she's one of three

:21:53. > :21:58.musicians who have been celebrated for their contribution. When you

:21:59. > :22:02.hear a fantastic orchestra late, you think that is bred music but you

:22:03. > :22:06.don't think about all the individuals in that orchestra and

:22:07. > :22:11.all the things that happened to get on to the stage. They have trained

:22:12. > :22:14.their whole lives to play those intranets so well and that is given

:22:15. > :22:18.but are also particular people within that orchestra who real heat

:22:19. > :22:25.`` really help make things happen. And Cath has certainly made music

:22:26. > :22:28.for young ears. This award is also an illustration of how orchestras

:22:29. > :22:32.need to connection with the next generation of music lovers and who

:22:33. > :22:35.knows, some of them may be sitting down there performing with

:22:36. > :22:39.world`class musicians in years to come.

:22:40. > :22:42.Primary school teachers are always thinking of creative ways to get

:22:43. > :22:46.children more interested in reading. A school in Staffordshire has

:22:47. > :22:49.decided that a new library is the way forward, but rather than go for

:22:50. > :22:53.bricks and mortar, they embarked on a rather different idea. Laura May

:22:54. > :23:08.McMullan has been finding out more about their special delivery. I am

:23:09. > :23:15.so excited! I can't wait for it to get here! I wonder how busy `` how

:23:16. > :23:18.big it is? Their curiosity and excitement is all down to this. A

:23:19. > :23:28.40`foot canal boat that's making its way to their school. Why? It's going

:23:29. > :23:34.to be their new library. This is a first for the school vote. I have

:23:35. > :23:39.never been asked to do one before but as soon as I got the phone call

:23:40. > :23:42.call `` I would hope `` I was really pleased we could help with this

:23:43. > :23:45.project. It's one of dozens of boats that have been built at here at

:23:46. > :23:51.Hixon in Staffordshire. And it's been all hands to the deck. As well

:23:52. > :23:55.as being their new library, it will be used for community events. The

:23:56. > :24:01.people here are already learning about canal heritage in the area. We

:24:02. > :24:04.want to encourage children to read and we want to make it an exciting

:24:05. > :24:11.experience for them so we wanted to develop a unique space and that is

:24:12. > :24:13.what we are doing. Dick School secured ?10,000 worth of lottery

:24:14. > :24:18.funding for the project. Over the coming weeks, staff and parents will

:24:19. > :24:32.be furnishing the boat and there is the all`important naming ceremony.

:24:33. > :24:37.Rosie and Jim. Bertie. Swan Lake. Well, the voting process could take

:24:38. > :24:47.a while. It is hoped this narrow boat will help to expand the

:24:48. > :24:53.children's learning. So, is it jolly boating weather? I don't think so.

:24:54. > :25:01.Here is Rebecca. I don't think so, Nick. Temperatures today haven't

:25:02. > :25:07.done too badly at all. It has been a very mild day. Up to 12 Celsius

:25:08. > :25:11.across Worcestershire. It is above average for this time of year and

:25:12. > :25:15.around six degrees higher than reword this time yesterday so it is

:25:16. > :25:20.much milder. Over the next few days, it is staying rather

:25:21. > :25:24.unsettled. We will get some sunshine as will wake up tomorrow morning. We

:25:25. > :25:28.have had a blanket of cloud sitting across us today. Not much in the way

:25:29. > :25:32.of sunshine there and it is this area of showers that is moving

:25:33. > :25:36.across us tonight, bringing with it quite a bit of rain. Most places are

:25:37. > :25:41.starting to see those showers moving through now. Some of those will be

:25:42. > :25:43.quite heavy and persistent but as we waited through the night, they will

:25:44. > :25:49.start to band together, we could see ten millimetres of rainfall off

:25:50. > :25:53.them. At midnight, they will start to push off, the cloud cover is

:25:54. > :25:57.helping temperatures, not falling too low, around four or five

:25:58. > :26:01.Celsius, the overnight low. It won't be a frosty start to Thursday, it

:26:02. > :26:06.will be a damp one. More showers tomorrow. Some of them could be

:26:07. > :26:11.persistent and heavy. We will get some breaks in the cloud, we will

:26:12. > :26:15.see the sun at times so it would be a complete wash`out tomorrow but

:26:16. > :26:22.there will be hell, thunder and blustery conditions around the

:26:23. > :26:25.showers. `` they will be hailed. Then, more weight to come through

:26:26. > :26:30.tomorrow night. We keep these bands of showers rattling through the

:26:31. > :26:34.region. The cloud cover does help a little bit but it is still going to

:26:35. > :26:37.be a mixture of wind and rain as we make our way through tomorrow night.

:26:38. > :26:42.Again, those temperatures would fall too far but with all this rain on

:26:43. > :26:46.the saturated ground, it is continuing to exacerbate the

:26:47. > :26:51.problem. No warnings out there but it is worth keeping an eye on it. As

:26:52. > :26:53.we work our way towards the end of the week, we continue to stay

:26:54. > :26:58.unsettled. Tonight's headlines from the BBC:

:26:59. > :27:02.Child abuse to order ` the British men who give online instructions

:27:03. > :27:04.about what they want done to girls in the Philippines The Prime

:27:05. > :27:07.Minister says he'll veto any proposal by The Royal Bank of

:27:08. > :27:09.Scotland to increase pay and bonuses.

:27:10. > :27:13.And a Shropshire couple are fined for taking their children on holiday

:27:14. > :27:21.during term time and refusing to pay a fixed penalty. Gary asked, what

:27:22. > :27:24.about when teachers go on strike, is this not double standards? Jenny

:27:25. > :27:29.Harris said that as a teacher, she believes children should not be

:27:30. > :27:34.taken out at term times. Samantha Road, holiday companies ripping you

:27:35. > :27:37.off. The price of holidays is double in school holidays, it is not fair

:27:38. > :27:41.when financially it is hard for families anywhere. Thank you for

:27:42. > :27:43.your comments. I will be back at 10pm with the latest from the public

:27:44. > :28:17.meeting called over the Benefit Hidden beneath your feet

:28:18. > :28:20.are magical worlds, home to extraordinary

:28:21. > :28:23.little creatures. Imagine being able to experience

:28:24. > :28:30.this wonderland through their eyes. see the incredible adventures
