:00:00. > :00:07.two weeks' time. That is all

:00:08. > :00:11.Good evening. The Environment Agency is warning

:00:12. > :00:13.that river levels in Herefordshire and Worcestershire are still

:00:14. > :00:16.unstable despite today's drier weather. They're predicted to

:00:17. > :00:20.fluctuate across the two counties over the next 24 hours. Meanwhile

:00:21. > :00:22.teams of council workers and volunteers now beginning to remove

:00:23. > :00:28.tonnes of debris trapped under Worcester Bridge. Sarah Falkland was

:00:29. > :00:31.there. It was quite the Sunday morning

:00:32. > :00:38.spectacle, pulling in crowds of onlookers. It is amazing when you

:00:39. > :00:42.see what he never has brought down. A huge pile of debris, there was all

:00:43. > :00:50.sorts in here, 28 tonnes were removed in the first hour. It is

:00:51. > :00:55.mainly wood, Ford's and get some I have seen your wheelie bin, a beer

:00:56. > :00:57.barrel, a life boy, plastic bottles, all sorts of things.

:00:58. > :01:02.The dredging machine operator can't see what he's picking

:01:03. > :01:08.`` this is not just some floating island of rubbish, it is the

:01:09. > :01:12.proverbial tip of the iceberg. All of this degree is about three metres

:01:13. > :01:16.underwater. The dredging machine operator can see what he's picking

:01:17. > :01:21.up. He relies on the guidance of the team and the piles of. The normal

:01:22. > :01:25.way is to let the river go down and take it away by car in the water. As

:01:26. > :01:32.the doors closed we have an opportunity to reach down from the

:01:33. > :01:38.top. That excavator can reach 80 metres in depth. That is the perfect

:01:39. > :01:42.kit for getting rid of this. You might also see the difficulty we

:01:43. > :01:45.have, the lights on the bridge are difficult for us to work alone.

:01:46. > :01:48.All the wood will be chipped and made into mulch. In all they're

:01:49. > :01:54.expecting to take out around 500 tonnes. Sarah Falkland, BBC Midlands

:01:55. > :01:56.Today in Worcester. A 20`year`old man from

:01:57. > :01:59.Stratford`on`Avon has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a

:02:00. > :02:02.teenager in Oxford. 17`year`old Connor Tremble was stabbed in

:02:03. > :02:06.Fairacres Road in Oxford on Thursday night. He was taken to hospital but

:02:07. > :02:08.died yesterday. A 21`year`old man from Birmingham has also been

:02:09. > :02:16.arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

:02:17. > :02:19.The Chief Executive of HS2 Limited says Stoke`on`Trent "hasn't been

:02:20. > :02:23.ruled out" in a battle to get a station on the new high speed rail

:02:24. > :02:27.line linking London, the Midlands and the North. The city has just

:02:28. > :02:30.submitted its case to get a stop on the line, but it's facing stiff

:02:31. > :02:37.competition from just 15 miles away, as BBC Radio Stoke's Political

:02:38. > :02:39.Reporter Phil McCann reports. It used to be one of

:02:40. > :02:42.Stoke`on`Trent's industrial powerhouses. Thousands of people

:02:43. > :02:46.produced tonnes of steel at Shelton Bar in its heyday, but 14 years

:02:47. > :02:53.after it closed, this is all that's left. The hope now is that HS2 will

:02:54. > :02:56.fill the gap. The derelict land here would be home

:02:57. > :02:59.to international arrivals, with high speed trains thundering to London in

:03:00. > :03:02.less than an hour. Unlike councils in Coventry, Warwickshire and rural

:03:03. > :03:09.Staffordshire, the city council here is actually fighting for high speed

:03:10. > :03:15.rail. This will actually make Stoke`on`Trent a call city, the

:03:16. > :03:17.amount of growth that will happen is unimaginable.

:03:18. > :03:24.Local businesses say it'd give this city the boost it's been waiting for

:03:25. > :03:26.for decades. It will create jobs, bring in investment, attract new

:03:27. > :03:30.businesses to this great city. But 15 miles up the road, a

:03:31. > :03:33.competitor in the shape of a true railway town. Crewe has already

:03:34. > :03:36.appeared as a stop for some HS2 trains on the government's preferred

:03:37. > :03:46.route. Stoke's plan would involve dragging the track away, launching

:03:47. > :03:48.officials here into battle mod. The total connectivity argument that the

:03:49. > :03:54.government talks about in the capacity argument is enhanced with

:03:55. > :03:59.what you get from Crewe. Despite the initial preference for crew, the

:04:00. > :04:04.chief executive told the Sunday politics that they will look at what

:04:05. > :04:08.sort `` Stoke`on`Trent has to offer. We have completed a public

:04:09. > :04:11.consultation. I am sure that Stoke have submitted their consultation.

:04:12. > :04:13.Stoke`on`Trent have high hopes they'll win, but it'd mean a

:04:14. > :04:15.significant change in the government's HS2 strategy. Phil

:04:16. > :04:26.McCann BBC Midlands Today, Staffordshire. Time for the weather.

:04:27. > :04:32.After the lovely sunny skies the day we will start to see some rain

:04:33. > :04:37.moving and overnight, quite cold ahead of it, though, tend to drift

:04:38. > :04:42.down to two degrees or three degrees. Mist and fog present as

:04:43. > :04:46.well. It is going to be quite chilly and patchy to start, the odd heavy

:04:47. > :04:50.burst likely as we head throughout the day came tomorrow, techie Lully

:04:51. > :04:57.in the Senate. It will stay quite murky as well. A daytime temperature

:04:58. > :04:57.of nine degrees. That's it. We are back tomorrow morning.

:04:58. > :05:11.Goodbye. Good evening. In the midst of any

:05:12. > :05:16.normal winter weather for the week ahead would be fairly unremarkable.

:05:17. > :05:20.Some rain in places, some strong winds at times, but of course we are

:05:21. > :05:23.in the midst of no normal winter. It is worth emphasising that with -

:05:24. > :05:29.the weather this week will be less angry and volatile overall, a fair

:05:30. > :05:32.bit calmer. Calmer but by no means dry. Outbreaks of rain will spread

:05:33. > :05:36.across much of the UK through the night. There will be some snow mixed

:05:37. > :05:38.in across the hills of central Scotland. Temperatures slowly

:05:39. > :05:39.starting to
