:00:15. > :00:17.across the country are meeting in Warwickshire today to agree on

:00:18. > :00:21.clearer guidelines about when chickens can be sold as halal. They

:00:22. > :00:23.want to make sure that birds which have been slaughtered by machines

:00:24. > :00:26.cannot be labelled as religiously acceptable. Midlands firms say this

:00:27. > :00:30.will prevent some cheap foreign imports from being sold in the UK,

:00:31. > :00:39.as well as creating more trust in the industry.

:00:40. > :00:45.Abattoirs can step up to the mark and have shown that they can be

:00:46. > :00:53.competitive. We can be a very great market for halal meat. We are

:00:54. > :01:02.importing fallout from countries as far away as Thailand and we do not

:01:03. > :01:04.want that to happen. `` halal meat. Campaigners in Birmingham are

:01:05. > :01:08.preparing to demonstrate against the government's decision to press ahead

:01:09. > :01:11.with badger culls as a way of controlling the spread of bovine

:01:12. > :01:14.tuberculosis. They're planning to stage a march

:01:15. > :01:18.and rally in the city this lunch time against a policy they say is

:01:19. > :01:21.barbaric and simply won't work. The Department for the Environment, Food

:01:22. > :01:25.and Rural affairs says its acting on scientific advice about the best way

:01:26. > :01:27.to tackle the problem which cost the department ?36 million in dealing

:01:28. > :01:30.with affected cattle last year. This will be one of the biggest

:01:31. > :01:37.demonstrations against the badger cull. We have had many of these

:01:38. > :01:43.around the country. Everywhere they go, we get more support and the

:01:44. > :01:44.public anger grows. It is time to bring this crazy badger cull to a

:01:45. > :01:47.close. Herefordshire council's estimated

:01:48. > :01:52.it's going to cost just under ?3 million to repair roads affected by

:01:53. > :01:55.the latest round of floods. And as the clean up continues in Worcester,

:01:56. > :01:58.the council's revealed it's set aside around ?700,000 to deal with

:01:59. > :02:01.potholes caused by the extreme weather and flooding. There are

:02:02. > :02:05.currently still eight flood warnings in force for the Midlands.

:02:06. > :02:08.Tonight will be the last greyhound meeting to be held at Brandon, near

:02:09. > :02:12.Coventry, following the sale of the stadium. Harry Findlay, who ran dog

:02:13. > :02:15.racing there says the sale wasn't expected, while the owner of the

:02:16. > :02:19.Coventry Bees says he isn't sure what the future of Speedway is at

:02:20. > :02:24.the site. It's not yet known who has bought it, but it has not been sold

:02:25. > :02:28.to Coventry City Football Club. Football: Wolves have the

:02:29. > :02:31.opportunity to go top of League One this afternoon. Just two points

:02:32. > :02:34.separate the top three teams in the division going into today's games.

:02:35. > :02:37.Wolves visit the current leaders Brentford and will climb above them

:02:38. > :02:39.into the automatic promotion places if they win.

:02:40. > :02:58.Let's take a look at the weather. It has been an enjoyable challenge.

:02:59. > :03:00.We are thriving on these challenges. We are not confident but we're happy

:03:01. > :03:12.playing the way we are. Good afternoon. It's been a

:03:13. > :03:15.beautiful start to the weekend with blue skies and sunshine around this

:03:16. > :03:19.morning. A little bit more cloud will roll in this afternoon and the

:03:20. > :03:23.breeze will pick up as well. But for most of us, it's a dry, bright and

:03:24. > :03:26.breezy afternoon. And it is fairly mild as well, 11 to 12 degrees

:03:27. > :03:29.Celsius are possibly our top temperatures. Overnight, the cloud

:03:30. > :03:33.will continue to thicken up. The winds will pick up as well. Some

:03:34. > :03:36.patches of light rain but it'll stay fairly mild tonight with lows down

:03:37. > :03:38.to seven or eight Celsius. A cloudier and more breezy day

:03:39. > :03:47.tomorrow, staying on the mild side. That's it for now, I'm back just

:03:48. > :04:08.after 6pm with today's sports results. Have a good afternoon.

:04:09. > :04:18.Good afternoon. It has been a lovely start with some very welcome winter

:04:19. > :04:21.sunshine. For the rest of the day, the further east you are, you will

:04:22. > :04:25.hang onto that for much of the time. The further north and west you

:04:26. > :04:31.are, the wind will pick up, that will be dragging in rain. You can

:04:32. > :04:32.see where this is coming from. Out in the Atlantic
