:08:25. > :08:26.This month's European and Council elections will inevitably be

:08:31. > :08:34.the Conservatives and Labour short of a Commons majority, each needs
:08:35. > :08:37.seats from the other. So all the parties will be fighting hard in
:08:38. > :08:46.nearly 30 Midlands marginals, as our BBC Hereford and Worcester political
:08:47. > :08:49.reporter Matthew Bone explains. Across the West Midlands, the
:08:50. > :08:53.election campaign is coming to the boil, nowhere more so than here in
:08:54. > :08:57.the Winyates area of Redditch. When it comes to swing voters, this place
:08:58. > :09:03.has pretty much got the market wrapped up. There has been Liberal,
:09:04. > :09:12.Labour, Conservative, BNP. It's very diverse. We have got people from
:09:13. > :09:15.everywhere. Everybody contributes to the local community in a positive
:09:16. > :09:18.way. Redditch's MP was Labour's Jacqui Smith until 2010, but with

:09:22. > :09:24.Conservatives' Karen Lumley, who took it with a larger than average

:09:41. > :09:43.plenty of other candidates in the field, including UKIP, who had their
:09:44. > :09:47.own county councillor here until recently. Could they have more
:09:48. > :09:50.impact this time around? Around the corner, Mad Malk has been sitting
:09:51. > :09:54.down with customers for the last few years. He is not surprised that
:09:55. > :09:58.people round here are so quick to change their vote. I think a lot of

:10:02. > :10:13.this person has not done what they said they were going to do, they try
:10:14. > :10:17.the next person. Looking on the boards, there are a couple of roses
:10:18. > :10:21.that could be used for Labour or a bird for the Liberal Democrats. Have
:10:22. > :10:25.you ever had anybody come in and ask for a political tattoo? No. I think
:10:26. > :10:29.a lot of them would probably regret it at a later stage. Redditch is one
:10:30. > :10:32.of around 30 key marginal seats in the West Midlands, and whoever makes
:10:33. > :10:36.their mark this time round stands a good chance of doing well in the

:10:46. > :10:49.And our Political Editor Patrick Burns is here now. We always stress

:10:56. > :10:59.difference will they really make? A bigger difference this time than
:11:00. > :11:05.ever, actually, because in the era of coalition politics, Conservatives
:11:06. > :11:08.and Labour, with Josef brought `` with those separate rival targets,
:11:09. > :11:12.many of those places happen to have council elections going on this

:11:42. > :11:44.in`out referendum. Let me be clear. The British people need to have
:11:45. > :11:50.their say on our membership of the EU. Isn't it something of a

:11:57. > :12:02.They may see this as something of a compliment, but they will certainly

:16:51. > :16:54.consistently done nothing about it. So I feel now, the least I could do
:16:55. > :17:05.was to come and undress this car for him. I now declare this community
:17:06. > :17:09.first responder vehicle responsive! The actor was first to admit that he
:17:10. > :17:16.did not really know anything about the service. It has been an
:17:17. > :17:18.eye`opener. It is very impressive. I did not realise it was all
:17:19. > :17:26.voluntary, and I did not realise all the funding had to be raised mostly
:17:27. > :17:30.on a non`governmental level. There are a number of first responders
:17:31. > :17:34.throughout the West Midlands, but Burntwood has never had its own. We
:17:35. > :17:40.had a response car until December, and that went off the road. So now
:17:41. > :17:46.we have got this vehicle locally, it will be seen attending emergency

:17:56. > :17:58.It was one of the most popular TV series of recent years and now the

:18:14. > :18:20.The moment a terrorist escapes from custody in the centre of Coventry.
:18:21. > :18:23.But this wasn't real. The city's being used for filming dramatic
:18:24. > :18:26.opening scenes of a big screen version of Spooks ` and perhaps
:18:27. > :18:37.never before has someone enthused so much about a parking area. It is
:18:38. > :18:40.fantastic, perfect. It is really visual, very striking. It is
:18:41. > :18:47.normally a lorry park or a coach park. So the great thing is, we have
:18:48. > :18:50.been able to access it. We need access for three days so that we can
:18:51. > :18:56.shoot every moment without having to move out of the way for real
:18:57. > :19:00.traffic. This is an episode of the long running BBC TV drama which
:19:01. > :19:04.centres on MI5 intrigue and dark twists.
:19:05. > :19:08.You are famous for killing people off, so do they all make it to the
:19:09. > :19:14.end of the film? There will be the requisite number of deaths and major
:19:15. > :19:20.plot twists that Spooks fans expect. None of the show's big stars like
:19:21. > :19:24.Peter Firth were on set today. But for this traffic jam on scene, they
:19:25. > :19:31.needed lots of extras, all willing to sit in a gridlock all day. Many
:19:32. > :19:36.of them are local. They selected some of us to bring our cars and
:19:37. > :19:39.just sit in them all day! This will be a multi million pound production,
:19:40. > :19:46.complete even with special effects rain. And it's putting Coventry on
:19:47. > :19:50.the map. It is a travelling circus, making a movie. You have to bring
:19:51. > :19:54.the same people with you to control the props and the lights. But there
:19:55. > :19:59.is a certain amount of local hire and a great deal of local spend, and
:20:00. > :20:03.we hope, if you like, is treated investment show other film`makers
:20:04. > :20:11.that they can bring stuff here. The film will be released worldwide next
:20:12. > :20:15.year. Sport now, and Dan, this is a
:20:16. > :20:17.weekend when relegation is on everyone's minds. Yes, these are
:20:18. > :20:25.nervous times for many Midlands sports fans. In a minute, we'll look
:20:26. > :20:28.at the plight of Birmingham City, but if anything, Worcester rugby
:20:29. > :20:32.club face an even more daunting task. The Warriors need to win both
:20:33. > :20:34.their remaining matches to stay up. Some say relegation would affect the
:20:35. > :20:38.city's profile. This man did his bit to promote the
:20:39. > :20:41.name of Worcester. Today I met someone trying to do the same.
:20:42. > :20:46.Adrian Field's job is a bit different to composer Edward Elgar.
:20:47. > :20:50.He promotes business in Worcester. But if the city's rugby club is
:20:51. > :20:53.relegated ` his job gets that little bit harder. If the worst does
:20:54. > :20:59.happen, it does affect the city centre in terms of the profile and
:21:00. > :21:06.the number of people who come to the city. The club will have smaller
:21:07. > :21:12.support, so it will have an impact. It is an impressive stadium, but if
:21:13. > :21:20.it is to host top`flight rugby next is on, was to have to win both of
:21:21. > :21:24.their games. Worcester's last defeat was at third`placed Bath. Tomorrow
:21:25. > :21:27.they're away to league leaders Saracens who last week won their
:21:28. > :21:32.european cup semifinal by a record margin. Everyone watched Saracens
:21:33. > :21:37.this week. We understand the size of the task. We will just have to do
:21:38. > :21:46.the best we can and make sure we represent this club. We understand
:21:47. > :21:49.the prerequisite. Despite Worcester's miserable season, this
:21:50. > :21:53.week full`back Chris Pennell was named on a six man short list for
:21:54. > :21:58.Premiership player of the season. It is great. I am really pleased to
:21:59. > :22:04.even be considered. It is something for the CV. The wife was very happy.
:22:05. > :22:11.It is a positive I can take from what has been a poor season overall
:22:12. > :22:14.for us as a team. And if Worcester's rugby club is relegated, they'll
:22:15. > :22:22.have to rely a little more heavily on one of their former greats to
:22:23. > :22:25.keep the visitors coming. But on the plus side for Worcester,
:22:26. > :22:29.the basketball side, the Wolves are going well. Really well. And they
:22:30. > :22:36.play the Sheffield Sharks in the BBL play`off semi`finals this weekend.
:22:37. > :22:40.And two rugby teams enjoying better days are Rugby Lions and Leek, both
:22:41. > :22:43.involved in Twickenham finals this weekend. But back to that word,
:22:44. > :22:47.relegation. That could happen to Birmingham City in the Championship
:22:48. > :22:50.tomorrow. And it will happen if they lose at Bolton tomorrow. A point
:22:51. > :22:53.could be enough to save them depending on results elsewhere. But
:22:54. > :22:56.manager Lee Clark says they're not going to Bolton just to defend. We
:22:57. > :22:59.don't purposely set out to go for a point anywhere, because if you play
:23:00. > :23:03.that game, we certainly can't afford it. Our defensive record will tell
:23:04. > :23:06.you that we can't just take a point. We have got to go for the jugular
:23:07. > :23:13.and try and win. And Villa aren't safe yet in the
:23:14. > :23:17.Premier League. They're not. Tomorrow's home game against Hull is
:23:18. > :23:20.their best chance left of a win ` but they may be effectively safe
:23:21. > :23:23.anyway after this weekend, depending on other results.
:23:24. > :23:26.This weekend sees the second semifinal of the Songs of Praise
:23:27. > :23:29.School Choir of the Year competition. Last Sunday it was
:23:30. > :23:32.junior schools, now it's the turn for senior schools and Hereford's
:23:33. > :23:43.Cathedral School choir's already doing rather well.
:23:44. > :23:46.The Cantabile girls choir have been rehearsing ahead of their semifinal
:23:47. > :23:51.appearance in the Songs of Praise school choir of the year. They'll be
:23:52. > :23:54.performing two songs to a panel of judges at Birmingham's International
:23:55. > :24:02.Convention centre, and at this late stage, are quietly confident. They
:24:03. > :24:07.picked up on a few points that we need to improve on, but one we are
:24:08. > :24:11.in there and we have got the energy of a room and everyone is excited,
:24:12. > :24:16.we will pull it out of the bag. It was a chance to see how big the
:24:17. > :24:24.stage was. It was constructive and we got some feedback to improve. If
:24:25. > :24:29.they win on Sunday, they'll go through to the finals the following
:24:30. > :24:32.week. It'll be just reward for all their hard work back in Hereford,
:24:33. > :24:38.where they've been refining their performances under the expertise of
:24:39. > :24:42.choir master Jo Williamson. I make big demands on them. I make them
:24:43. > :24:47.memorise things, I make them watch me constantly, so this phase is
:24:48. > :24:56.imprinted in their nightmares. But they get results at the end. One of
:24:57. > :24:59.those deciding their fate, is Gareth Malone of The Choir fame ` last week
:25:00. > :25:03.they were judging the junior section and so far he's impressed with the
:25:04. > :25:05.quality of this year's entrants. The standard is incredible. I have been
:25:06. > :25:09.really surprised. Considering that these choirs are from single
:25:10. > :25:12.schools, that is a small group to choose from. There are some very
:25:13. > :25:17.good musicianship. Cantabile also reached the semi`finals in 2012.
:25:18. > :25:20.They were very disappointed a few years ago, when they did not get
:25:21. > :25:23.through to the finals. But this year, we are really going for it.
:25:24. > :25:25.So, Hereford will be tuning in to see whether these young vocalists
:25:26. > :25:35.can go one better. Now, the Bank Holiday weekend hoves
:25:36. > :25:43.into view. Three days of rain as usual, Rebecca? No. You expect when,
:25:44. > :25:47.but it is looking better than that. Fine and dry is the theme for the
:25:48. > :25:51.next few days. Don't get too excited, we are not talking
:25:52. > :25:56.wall`to`wall sunshine. We have got some chilly nights to come.
:25:57. > :26:00.Gardeners, be aware, we could get a touch of frost. We have looked
:26:01. > :26:04.sunshine to come over the next few days, but it will be cloudy at times
:26:05. > :26:10.as well. Had Russia dominates for the next few days. It starts to push
:26:11. > :26:16.in tonight `` high`pressure. For the next few hours, we start to see that
:26:17. > :26:20.cloud clearing. Under those clear skies, our temperatures will
:26:21. > :26:25.plummet. Further west, where we keep the cloud for longer, that will help
:26:26. > :26:30.temperatures a bit. But in the east, we are dipping into single figures,
:26:31. > :26:33.possibly even minus figures in the countryside. We start rather cold
:26:34. > :26:39.tomorrow, but it will not be a bad day. Some good sunshine in the
:26:40. > :26:44.morning. We will see cloud filling in from the West, giving some hazy
:26:45. > :26:49.sunshine. Temperatures will do a little better than today. Not a bad
:26:50. > :26:56.day, but we consider `` continue to see the cloud piling in. Overnight,
:26:57. > :27:03.we could see some rain. But all that cloud will help keep temperatures up
:27:04. > :27:08.a bit, so a mild night than tonight. Sunday is not looking too bad. We
:27:09. > :27:12.have got plenty of cloud about. There will be rain, particularly
:27:13. > :27:19.across the north Midlands, but good sunshine in the afternoon. And it is
:27:20. > :27:24.similar for the Bank Holiday Monday. Another settled day. Temperatures
:27:25. > :27:27.are climbing a bit. Plenty of cloud about, so I will see if I can do
:27:28. > :27:36.better for the bank holiday at the end of the month.
:27:37. > :27:39.The main headline tonight: And two care workers are charged with
:27:40. > :27:43.manslaughter following the death of a 91`year`old woman. That was the
:27:44. > :27:46.Midlands Today. I'll be back at ten o'clock with your latest update.
:27:47. > :28:06.Have a good evening and a terrific Bank
:28:07. > :28:07.Men are even less tolerant of women than they were before.
:28:08. > :28:11.It's shocking it'd happen in a public place.
:28:12. > :28:14.I don't find it funny, but I don't find it offensive.
:28:15. > :28:16.It really is vile. Shock value sells.
:28:17. > :28:19.Men are even less tolerant of women than they were before.
:28:20. > :28:22.The hatred of women. Some people are offended.
:28:23. > :28:24.Others think women should just man up.
:28:25. > :28:28.and even misogyny socially acceptable?
:28:29. > :28:32.Join me, Kirsty Wark, as I investigate...
