:00:00. > 3:59:59full coverage on BBC One of the European election results after the

:00:00. > :00:10.Good evening. In the next few news

:00:11. > :00:13.Good evening. In the next few minutes we'll find out who will

:00:14. > :00:16.represent this region in the European Parliament for the next

:00:17. > :00:19.five years. Votes have been counted throughout the evening for the seven

:00:20. > :00:22.West Midlands seats being contested. Our Political Editor Patrick Burns

:00:23. > :00:25.joins us now from the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

:00:26. > :00:34.Patrick, any indication of who's done well?

:00:35. > :00:40.This is where the results this is where the results from 30 local

:00:41. > :00:43.counts, right across the Midlands, are collated and brought together so

:00:44. > :00:48.that the final numbers can be trotted up to decide who will secure

:00:49. > :00:53.the seven seats. With only the earliest of those local council

:00:54. > :00:57.insofar it does appear that UKIP are on course to secure three of those

:00:58. > :01:00.seven seats which would make them the undisputed winners here in West

:01:01. > :01:02.Midlands region. From 30 local counts, right across the Midlands,

:01:03. > :01:05.are collated and brought together so that the final numbers can be

:01:06. > :01:07.trotted up to decide who will secure the seven seats. With only the

:01:08. > :01:10.earliest of those local council insofar it does appear that UKIP are

:01:11. > :01:12.on course to secure three of those are seven seats which would make

:01:13. > :01:14.them the undisputed winners here in the West Midlands region. There

:01:15. > :01:17.there are number one candidate said that she was grinning from ear to

:01:18. > :01:20.ear. That would leave Labour and the Conservatives with a two seats each.

:01:21. > :01:21.What does this mean for the other parties?

:01:22. > :01:24.Is number one candidate said that she was grinning from ear to ear.

:01:25. > :01:26.That would leave Labour and the Conservatives with a two seats each.

:01:27. > :01:29.What does this mean for the other parties? This would be this would be

:01:30. > :01:31.a crushing disappointment for the Liberal Democrat MEP because he has

:01:32. > :01:34.battled hard to secure the seventh seat. The Liberal Democrats party

:01:35. > :01:39.could be out in the West Midlands. The Green party also mounted a

:01:40. > :01:44.spirited challenge for the seventh seat but they also could be facing

:01:45. > :01:50.the opportunity of a near miss. What about turnout? We have the

:01:51. > :01:59.numbers of the people who voted. Almost exactly one in three of the

:02:00. > :02:01.electorate, 33.31 of `` 33.31% with the highest turnout in

:02:02. > :02:05.Stratford`upon`Avon and the lowest in Stoke`on`Trent. Shortly before

:02:06. > :02:09.these declarations come out we have had a statement from an MEP in the

:02:10. > :02:13.outgoing parliament who has conceded defeat and says that she has no

:02:14. > :02:17.regrets about switching from UKIP to form her own party. She says it has

:02:18. > :02:21.been an honour and a pleasure to serve her constituency.

:02:22. > :02:22.Thank you very much for those details.

:02:23. > :02:25.Health bosses in Gloucestershire say fewer patients are dying almost a

:02:26. > :02:28.year after it downgraded the Accident and Emergency Service in

:02:29. > :02:32.Cheltenham. The trust which runs the department decided to close the

:02:33. > :02:34.service at night due to a shortage of doctors. 999 calls were sent to

:02:35. > :02:37.Gloucester's A instead. It's almost two weeks since the

:02:38. > :02:42.Staffordshire cancer fundraiser Stephen Sutton died. But efforts to

:02:43. > :02:46.push his fund over the ?4 million mark have been continuing. Today a

:02:47. > :02:48.12 hour sponsored water ski was organised near the teenager's home

:02:49. > :02:52.town of Burntwood. Bob Hockenhull reports.

:02:53. > :03:00.Following in the tracks of Stephen Sutton. The teenager waterskied here

:03:01. > :03:04.at Chasewater last year. Today people of all ages paid ?20 to have

:03:05. > :03:13.a go and raise money for Stephen's Teenage Cancer Trust appeal. We have

:03:14. > :03:18.had people skiing from 8am this morning and they have been doing 15

:03:19. > :03:21.minute sets of water skiing and wake boarding and with the donations and

:03:22. > :03:25.the sponsorship we should be into thousands of pounds. Stephen, who

:03:26. > :03:29.died earlier this month, has now raised a few thousand pounds short

:03:30. > :03:32.of ?4 million. Those taking part today hoped their donations will be

:03:33. > :03:39.enough to push his fund over ?4 million. I like doing a lot of

:03:40. > :03:44.charity work anyway and he has done a lot for what he was able to do so

:03:45. > :03:50.why not do it for a good cause and help to carry on the funds. Some of

:03:51. > :03:54.the people who are out on skis for the first time so the club is

:03:55. > :03:57.expecting to have to fish a few out. Pupils from Stephen's school, Chase

:03:58. > :04:03.Terrace Technology College, were among those taking part. It is

:04:04. > :04:06.choppy down here but the water is warm and it is good fun. At least

:04:07. > :04:10.one resident of Chasewater was keeping dry today. But those who did

:04:11. > :04:14.get wet weren't bothered as long as they can keep flying the flag for

:04:15. > :04:20.Stephen. Time for the Midlands weather now.

:04:21. > :04:25.Here's Mel Coles. Good evening. After a showery day we

:04:26. > :04:31.are seeing quieter conditions tonight. Most places remain dry and

:04:32. > :04:35.the skies will clear. Mist and fog could form a Monday morning.

:04:36. > :04:39.Temperatures could drop down to six degrees in parts of Herefordshire so

:04:40. > :04:42.it is fresher than it has been recently. Monday gets off to a dry

:04:43. > :04:46.start and there should be good spells of sunshine around in the

:04:47. > :04:50.morning. The cloud will increase in the afternoon and then there is a

:04:51. > :04:56.risk of showers. Dry spells around but some showers could be heavy. On

:04:57. > :05:00.Tuesday looks as though it will be showery with rain expected later.

:05:01. > :05:01.More election reporting on your local radio station now. Good

:05:02. > :05:15.Good evening to you. Tomorrow the weather will be a little like a box

:05:16. > :05:20.of chocolate, you don't know what you are going to get until you head

:05:21. > :05:26.out. The weather was clear cut today, sunshine in the Midlands and

:05:27. > :05:29.the north. Tomorrow, there's going to be a mix

:05:30. > :05:33.of everything across the country and it will be changing a lot from

:05:34. > :05:38.morning into the afternoon and into the evening. This is what the

:05:39. > :05:42.weather is going to look like in the early hours, rain in the south-east,

:05:43. > :05:46.showers dotted around across western areas, and as far as the headline

:05:47. > :05:51.goes for Bank Holiday Monday, we'll call it sunshine and thundery

:05:52. > :05:55.showers, because they'll be hefty later on in the afternoon on Monday.

:05:56. > :05:59.This is what it starts like in the course of the morning. Note it is

:06:00. > :06:02.splodges of blue indicating the rainfall. They keep changing and

:06:03. > :06:07.moving into different places, there is a lot of sunshine coming through.

:06:08. > :06:11.In terms of the thundery downpours, we think the worst will be through

:06:12. > :06:12.this portion here whereas
