:00:00. > 3:59:59pleasant in the south-west where the winds are that bit lighter. That is

:00:00. > :00:00.it. Goodbye. It makes me feel sick

:00:00. > :00:17.and I cannot understand what joy We'll bring you

:00:18. > :00:21.the latest developments How did

:00:22. > :00:24.a three`year`old boy go missing in Birmingham for at least 02 hours

:00:25. > :00:28.without anyone reporting it? I saw a little boy running `cross

:00:29. > :00:31.the road in his bare feet, crying. I knew at

:00:32. > :00:35.the same time that he was lost. I am at Europe's biggest rock

:00:36. > :00:41.festival where this year thdy are Concerns over plummeting bedf prices

:00:42. > :00:44.as the Royal Three Counties Show I am at Europe's biggest rock

:00:45. > :00:49.festival where this year thdy are paying their own very speci`l

:00:50. > :00:52.tribute to Stephen Sutton. And it's been a scorcher of a day

:00:53. > :00:55.with temperatures up to 24 Celsius. Unfortunately the weekend isn't

:00:56. > :00:57.looking quite as summery. Devastating, traumatic and cruel,

:00:58. > :01:15.that's how a mother's descrhbed the impact of receiving

:01:16. > :01:18.a hoax phone call in the early hours of the morning telling her that her

:01:19. > :01:21.child was dead. Bindi rushed from her home

:01:22. > :01:23.in Bedworth to the George Elliot Hospital in Ntneaton

:01:24. > :01:26.with her husband, Warwickshire Police have confirmed

:01:27. > :01:31.they're now investigating shx At two o'clock on Saturday lorning,

:01:32. > :01:42.Bindi received a call with news It was a man's voice

:01:43. > :01:50.and he just said, this is Gdorge Eliot Hospital, your child has died

:01:51. > :01:54.and you need to come to George Eliot The family rushed to the

:01:55. > :02:03.George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton Their son, Indy, 27, was supposed

:02:04. > :02:10.to be on a night out with friends. To compound their fears, Indy

:02:11. > :02:16.wasn't answering his mobile phone. My youngest was saying, "Mul, dad,

:02:17. > :02:21.please don't. When they reached Accident

:02:22. > :02:28.Emergency and spoke to nursds, it soon became clear it had been

:02:29. > :02:32.a cruel hoax. This person is sick

:02:33. > :02:34.and I cannot understand what joy We understand five more hoax calls

:02:35. > :03:16.were made families in the Ntneaton And what was the moment likd

:03:17. > :03:19.when your son finally arrivdd home? I went running out and

:03:20. > :03:23.before he even got out of the car, He was just so relieved to be home

:03:24. > :03:31.and I was so relieved to sed him. What they put us through

:03:32. > :03:38.was sheer hell. In a statement,

:03:39. > :03:39.George Eliot Hospital said the hoax caller has caused distress

:03:40. > :03:44.for both relatives and staff. They say they would never normally

:03:45. > :03:47.call someone to inform them about a serious injury,

:03:48. > :03:50.and the correct procedure would It is such a cruel trick, Bdn, what

:03:51. > :04:02.are the police saying at thhs stage? Warwickshire Police says

:04:03. > :04:12.when there are tragic deaths, it's normal practice for a policd officer

:04:13. > :04:32.to try to deliver the distrdssing I was told today about another one

:04:33. > :04:34.or these victims. Another woman with a middle`aged child who got this

:04:35. > :04:37.distressing news in the early hours of the morning when she herself was

:04:38. > :04:43.already suffering from a falily bereavement. Tracing these calls it

:04:44. > :04:49.could be difficult for the police if they have used a mobile phone or a

:04:50. > :04:52.contracted mobile phone. If they are caught, a malicious call is

:04:53. > :05:16.punishable by up to six months in prison.

:05:17. > :05:19.but they couldn't work out where he'd come from.

:05:20. > :05:22.He was reunited with his parents earlier today after

:05:23. > :05:29.Wandering the pavements at nearly ten o'clock last night,

:05:30. > :05:34.At one point, the three`year`old walked out into the middle

:05:35. > :05:44.A woman who's lived here 25 years spotted him, tearful and upset,

:05:45. > :05:55.I took him in my arms and I can t him down. I wiped his tears and

:05:56. > :05:59.everything was OK. I tidied him up and said come on let us look for

:06:00. > :06:00.your mum and dad. He couldn't show her where he lived,

:06:01. > :06:06.or even tell her his name. Bye`macro the police say shortly

:06:07. > :06:57.after Before its closure in Febru`ry 013,

:06:58. > :07:02.there'd been a jail The selling agents won't sax who

:07:03. > :07:07.the buyers are or how much they re Birmingham's been shortlistdd

:07:08. > :08:52.as a possible location for the price to consumers. We want to move

:08:53. > :08:59.very quickly on this and sed we can get stability back into the market.

:09:00. > :09:03.So how bad is it? It is so bad that some farmers are following the

:09:04. > :09:06.example of dairy farmers and going for direct action, blockading

:09:07. > :09:11.processing plant and abattohrs. We have been sent photos from `

:09:12. > :09:17.blockade of the ABB plant in Shrewsbury. Late Nite, 60 protesters

:09:18. > :09:22.stopped traffic going in and out of the plans. So why farmers stddenly

:09:23. > :09:26.getting less for their beef? Here, there are plenty of theories. There

:09:27. > :09:35.is too much imported stuff for a start. People do not always believe

:09:36. > :09:39.they have to pay good money for quality stock, so they are `lways

:09:40. > :09:44.try to get cheaper meat rather than actually thinking that thesd guys

:09:45. > :09:49.are worth a bit of money. The real prize for Midland's beef farmers is

:09:50. > :09:55.a good return on their efforts. At the moment, they say they are

:09:56. > :09:58.falling well short of that. Behind me is the animal that won the trophy

:09:59. > :10:04.last year and with me if thd farmer who owns it. Paul is a beef farm

:10:05. > :10:07.upon Gloucestershire. What hs going wrong? Green mark what has happened

:10:08. > :10:10.since the beginning of the xear is we have had a 20% drop in bdef price

:10:11. > :10:17.which is pretty dramatic for any business that sells anything. We

:10:18. > :10:23.have gone from being vaguelx profitable to really in a state of

:10:24. > :10:30.stalemate. Wobble turn this around? We have to work with the people who

:10:31. > :10:36.sell our beef. Hopefully thhs wonderful weather will get burgers

:10:37. > :10:40.and barbecues going. We also work with the retailers and get lore of

:10:41. > :10:45.our beef on the shelves. Th`nk you. Clive, you are an auctioneer. You

:10:46. > :10:50.are selling these animals. What is the mood like? It is though

:10:51. > :10:56.depressed at the moment. Thdy are taking less for their animals as far

:10:57. > :11:01.as the beef prices are concdrned. It is leaving them very lacklustre

:11:02. > :11:06.What are their options? That they have to sell them now? They can hold

:11:07. > :11:10.onto them for a limited perhod but obviously there is a 11 me there. If

:11:11. > :11:13.they keep them for two longdr to feed and which is expensive and if

:11:14. > :11:17.they go through another fat class they are penalised on the fhnal

:11:18. > :11:24.price anyway. So a week or ` feud days is an option, but is not. When

:11:25. > :11:31.they fit they had to go. Brhefly, what are the options for farmers in

:11:32. > :11:36.terms of consumers. Could they do more? Consumers are loyal to our

:11:37. > :11:43.brand. They love British bedf and seem to do a very nice job. Anything

:11:44. > :11:46.they can do to help these greats. The hot weather this weekend, if we

:11:47. > :11:51.get some, more barbecues cotld make a difference.

:11:52. > :11:54.Two Labour Muslim MPs from Birmingham have clashed over

:11:55. > :11:57.the Trojan Horse affair. Khalil Mahmood and Shabana Lahmood

:11:58. > :12:01.have contrasting views on the allegations of an Islamic extremist

:12:02. > :12:03.plot to target inner`city schools. They were talking to

:12:04. > :12:04.our political editor Patrick Burns. So Patrick,

:12:05. > :12:17.what exactly are they saying? Khalid Mahmud thinks these

:12:18. > :12:22.investigations are justified by what he sees as a plot by believdrs in an

:12:23. > :12:28.ultraconservative version of Islam who he accuses of driving a wedge

:12:29. > :12:32.between the schools in question and the surrounding communities they

:12:33. > :12:37.serve in order, he believes, to indoctrinate children. Thesd

:12:38. > :12:43.children have been groomed `way from the school fete their parents had.

:12:44. > :12:47.So this is why it is diffictlt to broad base this issue in thd

:12:48. > :12:53.schools. What they were doing, and the way they appointed people into

:12:54. > :12:58.the governing body, means there was a big group of people doing it.

:12:59. > :13:00.what exactly are they saying? And we have seen how the Hands

:13:01. > :13:02.off Birmingham's Schools calpaign rejected that approach.

:13:03. > :13:07.Is that basically the line Shabana Mahmooud is taking?

:13:08. > :13:12.she rejects what she sees as the national media narrative and the

:13:13. > :13:15.Government's response to thhs. She accepts that there are diffhculties

:13:16. > :13:21.with the governance in cert`in schools, but things the isste is out

:13:22. > :13:25.of proportion. There is a sdparate issue about what appears to be a

:13:26. > :13:30.group of individuals who from what I can tell, appear to have run a mock

:13:31. > :13:35.and who have done things in terms of the allegations about bullyhng and

:13:36. > :13:44.discrimination, which are Compleat Lee unacceptable. And that hs what

:13:45. > :13:51.we need to fix. What is to be done then? There are two arguments. One

:13:52. > :13:55.is that in a city of a quarter of a million Muslims there should be more

:13:56. > :13:56.Islamic faith schools and others are floating the idea broader, looser of

:13:57. > :14:04.schools. Shabana Mahmooud is taking?

:14:05. > :14:06.And Patrick will be back with more on this, plus the Government's

:14:07. > :14:08.decision to extend the London Midland's rail franchise in

:14:09. > :14:17.the Sunday Politics at 11 o'clock on Sunday morning here on BBC One.

:14:18. > :14:20.It's coming up to seven soon, and this is our top story tonight:

:14:21. > :14:23.Families shattered by hoax calls in the early hours telling them

:14:24. > :14:39.Thank you I am alive in the confining aha police plan to keep

:14:40. > :14:41.trouble at bay drink the World Cup. Three million to be spent on arts

:14:42. > :14:44.funding in the Potteries to improve the shocking disparity betwden

:14:45. > :14:54.London and the rest of the country. The renowned Download Music

:14:55. > :14:58.Festival's paying tribute to teenage cancer fundraiser Stephen Sttton, by

:14:59. > :15:01.naming their main stage aftdr him. Stephen, who was from Burntwood and

:15:02. > :15:06.died last month, helped to raise almost ?4 million for charity.

:15:07. > :15:07.He was a massive music fan `nd attended the festival last xear

:15:08. > :15:25.Ben Sidwell reports. Paying tribute to a fellow rock fan.

:15:26. > :15:30.Thousands of people download Festival joining in a minutd's

:15:31. > :15:34.applause in memory of Sutton. I think it is great. He came to

:15:35. > :15:40.download last year, so it is great they are making this tributd for

:15:41. > :15:46.him. It is amazing. He was ` metal fan and he came here and he loved

:15:47. > :15:50.everything about it. This txpe of music was one of Stephen's lain

:15:51. > :15:53.passions. So it seems appropriate that some of the biggest rock bands

:15:54. > :15:59.in the world including Aerosmith will be playing up to 80,000 people

:16:00. > :16:03.right here on the Stephen Sttton Stage. Stephen was guest of honour

:16:04. > :16:08.here last year. It was one of his wish is to come to download. We

:16:09. > :16:11.contacted his family to see if it was OK to name at the stage after

:16:12. > :16:15.him and they were obviously thrilled that we were going to do th`t. I

:16:16. > :16:20.think he's going to be lookhng down and giving us a big thumbs tp. His

:16:21. > :16:27.friends return to the festival this year to carry on the tradithon.

:16:28. > :16:32.It'll be great to see all the fans we enjoyed and appreciated with him.

:16:33. > :16:37.I'm overwhelmed that people come here to see all these bands and that

:16:38. > :16:50.they are cheering and clapphng for our mate. Download, Donington Park,

:16:51. > :16:53.is Europe's biggest rock festival. Whoever you spoke to it seels that

:16:54. > :17:01.they have been searched by Stephen's story. It is a nice

:17:02. > :17:07.tribute to a good person. Hd'll be watching from up there. He will be

:17:08. > :17:13.out their crown surfing if he was here. Perhaps the most fitthng

:17:14. > :17:16.tribute of all will be the hconic thumbs up sign that Stephen himself

:17:17. > :17:25.became so famous for. Ben Sidwell reports.

:17:26. > :17:31.Dan's here with the sport, and all eyes are on Brazil `

:17:32. > :17:34.our first big one just hours away! The World Cup has finally got

:17:35. > :17:35.underway, which means England are makhng their

:17:36. > :17:41.final preparations for their first On the bench will be the

:17:42. > :17:45.West Bromwich Albion goalkedper Ben Foster who's taking part

:17:46. > :17:47.in his first major tournament. I've been to meet some of the

:17:48. > :17:50.people who helped him get there It'll never host a World Cup game,

:17:51. > :17:54.but it was the start of a Welcome to Townsend Meadow `

:17:55. > :17:57.home of Racing Club Warwick. He's fondly remembered by the likes

:17:58. > :18:01.of Pat Murphy and Steve Flowers Ben joined

:18:02. > :18:03.as a youth team player aged 16 ` and Ben Foster is very quick. Hd can

:18:04. > :18:22.manage his area very well. Racing Club Warwick offered him

:18:23. > :18:33.his first professional contract Everybody starts somewhere `nd we

:18:34. > :18:35.are proud we are the one th`t gave a chance. We do that for all our

:18:36. > :18:35.youngsters. At that point Ben was also working

:18:36. > :18:48.here as a chef at Cafe Rougd The fact that he worked herd meant

:18:49. > :18:54.that they could sign him on a contract. But seven months later,

:18:55. > :18:55.Stoke City signed him for ?30,0 0. By 17, he was a professional

:18:56. > :18:55.footballer. He never actually played for Stoke,

:18:56. > :18:58.but his career has taken hil to Manchester United, Birmingham

:18:59. > :19:03.City and now West Bromwich @lbion. He's won medals along the w`y `

:19:04. > :19:16.but being in the England sqtad for I'm going into this tournamdnt

:19:17. > :19:23.looking to enjoyed it I get as much experience as I can. It is ` big

:19:24. > :19:27.occasion. I don't care who xou are, even if you're the biggest name play

:19:28. > :19:28.in the world, it is a big ddal is the World Cup.

:19:29. > :19:30.But Ben Foster hasn't forgotten his roots.

:19:31. > :19:33.He went to North Leamington School, starting on the same day in 199

:19:34. > :19:38.A chance meeting led to a school visit last month.

:19:39. > :19:40.Ben answered pupil?s questions and even went in goal

:19:41. > :19:54.He is a fantastic role model. Very down`to`earth and wasn't rushing to

:19:55. > :19:59.try and get away, but was always keen to sign autographs, pose for

:20:00. > :20:00.photos and nothing was too luch trouble for him. I thought that was

:20:01. > :20:00.fantastic. Ben Foster's home for now is in

:20:01. > :20:04.a luxury hotel in Rio De Janeiro. His training camp is below Sugar

:20:05. > :20:07.Loaf Mountain with a privatd beach. Back here,

:20:08. > :20:15.pubs and bars are gearing up for a very busy few weeks as football

:20:16. > :20:18.fans gather to watch the matches. But watching them will be

:20:19. > :20:21.the police. They're keen to make sure it

:20:22. > :20:23.all passes off peacefully. Amy Cole is on

:20:24. > :20:25.Birmingham's Broad Street tonight. So Amy,

:20:26. > :20:42.how busy are they expecting it to be They will be out in force, that is

:20:43. > :20:44.for sure. They have launched operation Greenshields which is

:20:45. > :20:48.focused on alcohol`related violence cheering the World Cup. What they

:20:49. > :20:53.are warning is that if somebody is convicted of violence at a pub that

:20:54. > :20:58.is showing a match, then thdy run the risk of being prohibited from

:20:59. > :21:02.going to a real life football match. I'm joined now by Chief Inspector

:21:03. > :21:07.Sean Russell. That sounds heavy`handed, but what meastres are

:21:08. > :21:12.you taking? We want to make sure people enjoy the game safelx. Those

:21:13. > :21:17.prohibited orders do allow others to instigate those later on, btt that

:21:18. > :21:21.is the worst`case scenario. What we want to do is enjoy the festivities.

:21:22. > :21:26.It is very important that pdople come, safe... It is a late kick`off

:21:27. > :21:31.and we want to ensure peopld drink sensibly throughout the day. We

:21:32. > :21:35.wanted to take their time and do not spill into violence throughout the

:21:36. > :21:40.evening. I'm also joined by Neal Armitage who is the deputy bar

:21:41. > :21:44.manager of this bar. What mdasures are you taking to keep people safe

:21:45. > :21:48.and to ensure they enjoyed themselves? we have additional

:21:49. > :21:59.security for all the big gales. We will also be using plastic glasses

:22:00. > :22:04.and have a system in place with the police so anybody you creatd any

:22:05. > :22:10.disruption will be banned. xou have two and a half thousand people who

:22:11. > :22:15.can fit into here. How is it so far? the atmosphere has been building

:22:16. > :22:20.very nicely. People are getting excited at head of tomorrow. indeed,

:22:21. > :22:23.that is happening tomorrow night and the police will be out in force and

:22:24. > :22:25.say just enjoy yourself and behave responsibly.

:22:26. > :22:28.It strikes me we're not as World Cup crazy this time as we have been

:22:29. > :22:34.No, the low expectations of fans seem to have led to

:22:35. > :22:40.Far fewer flags and bunting and England shirts.

:22:41. > :22:42.But that can all change with a good win.

:22:43. > :22:46.The Southern League say thex will accept Hereford into their Premier

:22:47. > :22:49.Division next season providdd they meet certain criteria.

:22:50. > :22:52.But the club have cancelled a fans? forum planned for Monday.

:22:53. > :22:55.Fans are disappointed as they were hoping to meet

:22:56. > :23:11.?3 million pounds is being hnvested in Stoke`on`Trent as part

:23:12. > :23:13.of a three`year programme ahmed at encouraging more people to take

:23:14. > :23:17.The city's been highlighted as having one of

:23:18. > :23:19.the lowest levels of partichpation in the arts in the country.

:23:20. > :23:22.It's a welcome boost after figures showed that ?20 per

:23:23. > :23:24.person's spent on arts fundhng in London ` compared with jtst

:23:25. > :23:31.From Stoke`on`Trent, here's our Staffordshire reporter, Liz Copper.

:23:32. > :23:33.Rehearsing at the New Vic in Newcastle.

:23:34. > :23:36.These actors are part of thd cast of the theatre's hit show Around

:23:37. > :23:41.But this is the only Arts Council`funded organis`tion

:23:42. > :23:46.And the aim of this new programme is to encourage more people to get

:23:47. > :23:53.involved in Arts events in the Potteries.

:23:54. > :23:59.This was one of the few places where working men and women could make a

:24:00. > :24:04.living out of the arts. Thex were painters, decorators and made

:24:05. > :24:08.ceramics. I think we still dnjoy the heritage of that. There are people

:24:09. > :24:12.here who still have a hunger for the arts and artistic people and here we

:24:13. > :24:22.are, able to offer some of that sustenance. In Stoke`on`Trent the

:24:23. > :24:25.figures in arts involvement or lower. Just a third of people

:24:26. > :24:33.regularly take part in arts activities.

:24:34. > :24:36.This dance production's being staged in a park at Bentilee

:24:37. > :24:39.It's one of a whole series of performances planned this stmmer.

:24:40. > :24:40.And the audience reaction was enthusiastic.

:24:41. > :24:47.We have been to theatres many times, but some people may not go hnto the

:24:48. > :24:52.theatre. Seeing it in the community might inspire people to go `nd visit

:24:53. > :24:57.theatres. I think it will inspire people to have the confidence to

:24:58. > :25:01.dance. It has inspired me bdcause it looked fun. And I think I w`nt to be

:25:02. > :25:03.a good dancer. And the hope is thousands more

:25:04. > :25:06.audience members will be inspired by these performances

:25:07. > :25:08.and this programme will kick`start Liz Copper, BBC Midlands Today,

:25:09. > :25:16.Stoke on Trent. It's been a lovely, sunny d`y

:25:17. > :25:23.but will it last into the wdekend? Here's Rebecca.

:25:24. > :25:30.I'm sorry Nick, the sunshind is on hold. But it does not mean we will

:25:31. > :25:35.be in for bad weather, but ht is going to be a little colder. That is

:25:36. > :25:39.because we have plenty of cloud cover, but there will be brdaks in

:25:40. > :25:45.that and we will have sunshhne and mainly dry weather. There whll be a

:25:46. > :25:51.few showers, however. Today has been lovely. Temperatures made it up to

:25:52. > :25:56.24 Celsius. So it has felt very pleasant out there. We started the

:25:57. > :26:00.day with clear skies, but wd have seen cloud syncing southwards at we

:26:01. > :26:04.have headed through the day. That continues to fill in as we head to

:26:05. > :26:07.the next few hours. We also have some rather lively showers which

:26:08. > :26:10.will work their way through. We can not rule out the odd rumble of

:26:11. > :26:14.thunder, but most of this activity will happen over night to nhght It

:26:15. > :26:19.is going to be a mild night as well, with temperatures not falling far.

:26:20. > :26:24.We are looking at Lowes of between 13 and 15 Celsius, so it is feeling

:26:25. > :26:28.rather muddied tonight. We begin tomorrow with high pressure still in

:26:29. > :26:32.control, but we have cold fronts sitting above us and that is what is

:26:33. > :26:36.making things feel different tomorrow. Plenty of cloud to come

:26:37. > :26:39.throughout the day and a few showers knocking about. That cloud cover is

:26:40. > :26:44.really going to affect our temperatures and the best of the

:26:45. > :26:48.brightness will be in western parts where Western `` temperaturds can

:26:49. > :26:52.make it up to 23 Celsius. Elsewhere, cloud the back to when it should be

:26:53. > :26:57.for this time of year. Tomorrow night, very similar. Plenty of cloud

:26:58. > :27:01.about and a few showers which will slowly die out. Again, it whll be

:27:02. > :27:06.quite a mild and muggy night with temperatures between 12 and 14

:27:07. > :27:10.Celsius. On Sunday, very sililar. Nothing much changes throughout the

:27:11. > :27:16.next few days. Rather stagn`nt temperatures of around 20 or 21

:27:17. > :27:18.Celsius. Mostly dry, but pldnty of cloud about. So where you gdt the

:27:19. > :27:22.sun, make the most of it. Here's Rebecca.

:27:23. > :27:25.Tonight's headlines from thd BBC: The chief police investigator

:27:26. > :27:28.in the 1990s in Rochdale saxs he was misled by the council who hhd

:27:29. > :27:31.allegations from abuse from him And families in Warwickshird have

:27:32. > :27:35.been shattered by hoax calls in the early hours telling them

:27:36. > :27:39.their children are dead. That was the Midlands Today.

:27:40. > :27:41.I'll be back at ten o'clock with news of who's being recognised

:27:42. > :27:43.in the Queen's Birthday honours Have a terrific weekend `

:27:44. > :27:58.and come on England! Bye for now.

:27:59. > :28:01.Make the most of your weekend, wherever you are.
