:00:19. > :00:21.A Midlands MP has called on the Government to scrap a key p`rt of

:00:22. > :00:24.the high`speed rail project. Liam Byrne wants ministers to drop

:00:25. > :00:27.proposals for the huge inner city rail depot in Birmingham.

:00:28. > :00:30.He says the land would be bdtter used by businesses to creatd

:00:31. > :00:33.jobs in one of the country's worst unemployment black`spots.

:00:34. > :00:41.Washwood Heath just one of the many Midlands battlegrounds in the row

:00:42. > :00:44.over High Speed Two. This is the site, formerly home to LDV, which in

:00:45. > :00:47.its heyday employed 800 people. Now it's earmarked for a depot

:00:48. > :00:49.cleaning and maintaining tr`ins but today the local MP urged thd

:00:50. > :01:02.government to scrap the ide`. It is enormous and sites like that

:01:03. > :01:05.don't come on to the market often. The private sector said to le, you

:01:06. > :01:08.can get thousands of jobs on this site and you can do it in the

:01:09. > :01:10.short`term. I'm demanding the best for Birmingham and the best for

:01:11. > :01:20.Hodge Hill. government to scrap the ide`.

:01:21. > :01:23.Despite his objections the government insists that Washwood

:01:24. > :01:31.Heath is the best site for the depot.

:01:32. > :01:40.It is better than other sitds considered.

:01:41. > :01:43.depot. Liam Byrne claims this site has the

:01:44. > :01:46.potential for 7,000 jobs, b`sed on figures from Birmingham Citx

:01:47. > :01:48.Council, but the Governmentt's consultants estimate it to be more

:01:49. > :01:51.like 3,700. Hodge Hill has one of the hhghest

:01:52. > :01:55.rates of unemployment in thd West Midlands. If the plans went ahead,

:01:56. > :01:59.the Government says the depot here would create 640 jobs and more than

:02:00. > :02:01.800 extra jobs for the rest of the site.

:02:02. > :02:04.Whilst the local MP has his doubts, this business leader warned that

:02:05. > :02:09.shunning a depot which could create much needed jobs is the wrong call.

:02:10. > :02:15.The people have some hope. H feel there is hope now in going with the

:02:16. > :02:17.maintenance depot as opposed to hope tomorrow which may or may not

:02:18. > :02:30.happen. much needed jobs is the wrong call.

:02:31. > :02:34.If the plans went ahead, the Government says the depot here

:02:35. > :02:36.would create 640 jobs and more than 800 extra jobs for the rest of the

:02:48. > :02:51.country lane at Mow Cop in 0990 The 25`year`old father of three had had

:02:52. > :02:54.his throat cut. On Monday, police arrested a 49`year`old man from

:02:55. > :02:57.Stoke`on`Trent and searched a number of homes in the city. They've since

:02:58. > :03:01.released the man on bail. The Prime Minister has praised the

:03:02. > :03:04.Burntwood teenager Stephen Sutton in the Commons today for his

:03:05. > :03:06.fundraising efforts. The 19`year`old, who died last lonth,

:03:14. > :03:16.Fabricant who thanked him for his Benefits Street was one of Channel

:03:17. > :03:25.4's highest rating shows. Btt it It is right that our honours system

:03:26. > :03:29.reward people that give to charity and that give of their time from the

:03:30. > :03:35.bottom to the very top. There is probably more we can do to lake sure

:03:36. > :03:39.that our honours system reflect what the British public want which is

:03:40. > :03:44.seeing giving, generosity and compassion rewarded.

:03:45. > :03:47.Benefits Street was one of Channel 4's highest rating shows. Btt it

:03:48. > :03:50.attracted criticism over thd way people living on James Turndr Street

:03:51. > :03:56.Now there's concern that Love Productions, the company behind the

:03:57. > :04:12.Benefits Street, a hit serids, but say many a disaster for thehr

:04:13. > :04:15.community. Such is the fear of further bad publicity with rumours

:04:16. > :04:18.of a second series, an emergency meeting was held tonight in the

:04:19. > :04:23.local school. Many of the rdsidents refusing to speak to us on camera as

:04:24. > :04:29.they went in. Yes, so go away is what she says and

:04:30. > :04:32.that's the main feeling frol residents who say they were betrayed

:04:33. > :04:37.by Channel 4. The broadcastdr has told the BBC it currently h`s no

:04:38. > :04:41.plans to return to James Turner Street, but it is looking at other

:04:42. > :04:44.locations in the country for a second series ` something the

:04:45. > :04:49.founder of the local school is warning against.

:04:50. > :04:57.I would say to any communitx that is thinking of courting Channel 4, you

:04:58. > :05:00.will be lied to and let down and the negative image will hangover your

:05:01. > :05:05.community for a long time. We weren't allowed to film hnside

:05:06. > :05:12.the meeting, but was told that tension was running high. For Teresa

:05:13. > :05:16.and her auntie, they said the programme had a terrible impact on

:05:17. > :05:19.the local children. They were bullied. They had to wait until the

:05:20. > :05:24.school kids had gone in bec`use they were part of a society that was

:05:25. > :05:29.thrash and painted black. It is not fair for them and us.

:05:30. > :05:34.Channel 4 has confirmed that Love Productions has been back on James

:05:35. > :05:40.Turner Street talking to sole of the people who appeared in the `bout

:05:41. > :05:44.filming them for other projdcts but many say they don't want thd cameras

:05:45. > :05:52.back. The residents hope thdir posters will get the messagd across.

:05:53. > :05:55.The new West Bromwich Albion head coach has pleaded with fans to give

:05:56. > :05:59.Earlier Alan Irvine gave his first news conference at The Hawthorns.

:06:00. > :06:01.Some fans say they'll be returning their season tickets.

:06:02. > :06:08.But Everton's former Academx manager wants time to prove himself.

:06:09. > :06:18.I understand I wouldn't havd been a name on everybody's lips, btt I ve

:06:19. > :06:22.got this job now. And I know that the Albion fans are incredibly

:06:23. > :06:26.passionate, but I think thex will find I'm incredibly passion`te and

:06:27. > :06:34.hopefully together we can hdlp the team get success.

:06:35. > :06:38.will be back during Breakfast from just before 6.30am half tomorrow

:06:39. > :06:46.morning. I'll leave you with the weather from Rebecca. Good night.

:06:47. > :06:52.Overnight tonight there isn't much cloud about. Still bits herd and

:06:53. > :06:55.there, but pockets of clear skies. Under those, our temperaturds will

:06:56. > :06:59.fall away and we will start to see mist and fog patches developing

:07:00. > :07:04.across the North Midlands as we make up tomorrow morning, but it will

:07:05. > :07:07.abmild, humid night and sticky with temperatures between 13 Celsius and

:07:08. > :07:14.15 Celsius. We start off tolorrow with the clear skies still hn place,

:07:15. > :07:17.but this cold front is sinkhng southwards. It will change the

:07:18. > :07:21.temperature a bit. A sunny start, some good spells of sunshind, that

:07:22. > :07:24.will help our temperatures to climb. The cloud starts to fill in. That

:07:25. > :07:28.will limit our temperatures, but it is going to be a pleasant d`y with

:07:29. > :07:30.highs of 20 Celsius. The national forecast is on the way next. I will

:07:31. > :07:34.leave you with an remain dry. Top temperatures of 25

:07:35. > :07:41.Celsius. The outlook for the weekend is looking pretty good.

:07:42. > :07:48.If you have outdoor plans, plenty of fine weather, warm nest the south.

:07:49. > :07:53.Is today, warm nest the north. Normally Perth Australia is renowned

:07:54. > :07:59.for its heat, but today Perth in Scotland, 27 degrees. Tomorrow not

:08:00. > :08:03.as warm, but still pleasant enough. High teens, low 20s. That cooler

:08:04. > :08:06.fresher air behind a cold front Fresh breeze from the north-west.

:08:07. > :08:11.That the will push the front southwards. A band of cloud and the

:08:12. > :08:17.odd spot of rain into parts of north-east England later. Otherwise

:08:18. > :08:21.most places dry. Not desperately cold. Temperatures holding in double

:08:22. > :08:26.figures. Tomorrow the front will move south.

:08:27. > :08:31.The odd shower in parts of the Midlands, eastern England and the

:08:32. > :08:34.south-east later. Plenty of fine weather with increasing amounts of

:08:35. > :08:41.sunshine. The best of that around coastal areas. The fresher breeze

:08:42. > :08:42.means its won't be as warm in northern and central areas, but
