:00:49. > :00:53.The small town of Broseley in Shropshire has declared

:00:54. > :00:59.After years of hard times on the high street, independent businesses

:01:00. > :01:02.have launched the Totally Locally scheme, encouraging local pdople to

:01:03. > :01:07.I think Broseley is doing rdally well. We've still got the

:01:08. > :01:09.traditional butcher, baker, greengrocer, florist.

:01:10. > :01:12.Broseley is well supported by its local people,

:01:13. > :01:15.but we still want to make stre people are aware of what we do.

:01:16. > :01:18.In recent times, many big n`mes on our high streets have gone

:01:19. > :01:22.under, but for smaller business owners there is some good ndws.

:01:23. > :01:25.According to the Independent Retailers' Association,

:01:26. > :01:28.shops in the Midlands have seen a sustained period of growth in

:01:29. > :01:32.recent months and it is shops like this which sell DIY and hardware

:01:33. > :01:36.This retailer is cautious about a recovery.

:01:37. > :01:40.James Hurdley's worked here for more than 60 years.

:01:49. > :01:56.If the scheme in Broseley is successful, it is hoped it will be

:02:59. > :03:02.Dozens like her came to Kings Hall today hoping to find out how

:03:03. > :03:06.their families were involved in the First World War.

:03:07. > :03:15.My granddad looked after me when I was a child and made me laugh.

:03:16. > :03:19.Armed with medals, pictures and sometimes just a name,

:03:20. > :03:23.they wanted to piece togethdr the history and memories th`t have

:03:24. > :03:28.People are coming in with qtite a lot of information

:03:29. > :03:31.about their relatives, they had done a lot of research, but they won t

:03:32. > :03:33.necessarily understand the subtle military detail.

:03:34. > :03:36.It's a question for those sort of people, interpreting what

:03:37. > :03:40.the records say so they can understand what their relathves did

:03:41. > :03:48.Many survivors never spoke of their experiences.

:03:49. > :03:51.For people like Ann, today gave them a chance to ensure
