:02:07. > :02:08.Living at the house was a m`n called Peter Righton,

:02:12. > :02:14.He was a consultant to the National Children's Bureau.

:02:15. > :02:16.At the time, most people had no idea he was

:02:17. > :02:38.a paedophile, and it's him who's key to these latest revelathons

:02:39. > :02:41.Of course I deny it. That is all I want to say.

:02:42. > :02:44.He took the truth about the extent of his paedophilia to the grave

:02:46. > :02:47.His dark side was uncovered during a police search

:02:48. > :03:00.It was between four and six large bin liners of documentation. It had

:03:01. > :03:05.been stored haphazardly. In amongst the items at the top of the pile was

:03:06. > :03:10.the diary of Peter Righton. And in the back of that it had a lhst of

:03:11. > :03:12.200 names of boys that he that had relationships with.

:03:13. > :03:14.Righton was convicted of possessing indecent imagds

:03:15. > :03:23.But what of the other men n`med in his correspondence?

:03:24. > :03:30.That was the scary part. Whdn you started looking at the names,

:03:31. > :03:33.initially did not mean a lot to me but it seemed it was establhshment

:03:34. > :03:39.figures being named in thesd documents.

:03:40. > :03:41.If what he says is true, it only adds weight to clails that

:03:42. > :03:44.Westminster was at the centre of a paedophile ring,

:03:45. > :03:53.We are looking at upwards of 20 and certainly a much larger number of

:03:54. > :03:54.people who knew about it who did nothing who were in a posithon to do

:03:55. > :03:56.something about it. DC Shutt says he handed over all

:03:57. > :03:58.the evidence to the But he's confident the

:03:59. > :04:14."main link into the Establishment" We have to have a sense that we can

:05:46. > :06:03.of a difference. We have got three of these knife

:06:04. > :06:07.bins in Birmingham. This is one of seven, there is another one in

:06:08. > :06:13.Wolverhampton. It was opened or unveiled in an emotional

:06:14. > :06:18.presentation by the widow of Bob Jones, Sarah. She was asked whether

:06:19. > :06:24.these are actually working by saying that if it just saves one lhfe, in

:06:25. > :06:27.her eyes, then it is working. It is not the police initiative, ht has

:06:28. > :06:36.come from the community. Bob Jones, who died last week, his deptty joins

:06:37. > :06:40.us now. There are lots of criticisms of these bins. Would you sax that

:06:41. > :06:44.they are working? I would s`y that this is about the young people who

:06:45. > :06:49.said they wanted to have thdse bins. I have had a meeting with a number

:06:50. > :06:52.of young people. He was said he wanted to hear what the young people

:06:53. > :06:57.had to say. They said that they wanted to have these ends, `nd this

:06:58. > :07:02.is a testament to them, and to Bob, because it was him who inithated

:07:03. > :07:09.having the bins in Wolverhalpton, and having three of them in

:07:10. > :07:16.Birmingham. This is one of seven bins. We are thing to have dight of

:07:17. > :07:21.them. This is outside the T`bernacle Baptist Church. Is outside the

:07:22. > :07:26.church really the right ways for people to bring weapons? It is where

:07:27. > :07:30.people would accept that thdy would have them. Yes it is the right place

:07:31. > :07:36.for us to have the bins. We have consulted with people and the police

:07:37. > :07:41.have done a lot of work on this initiative for us and yes it is the

:07:42. > :07:47.right place because this is what people said that they wanted. From

:08:10. > :08:12.while some foreign inmates were negative about their experidnces,

:08:13. > :08:22.It is better than it was, btt there are still violence and levels of

:08:23. > :08:28.self harm that are too high. While it is improving it is not somewhere

:08:29. > :08:30.that you would want to be if you had a choice, and they have still got to

:08:31. > :08:32.do more, I think. Coventry North MP Geoffrey Robinson

:08:33. > :08:34.has asked Education Secretary Michael Gove for

:08:35. > :08:37.a meeting to discuss the shortfall in funding for the Government's new

:08:38. > :08:40.free school meal policy. From September, all schools will be

:08:41. > :08:43.required to offer Coventry's been given ?950,000 to

:08:44. > :08:49.pay for it, but the city council says the actual

:08:50. > :08:55.cost will be more than ?2 mhllion. The head of schools watchdog Ofsted

:08:56. > :08:58.has suggested breaking up the local education authority in Birmhngham

:08:59. > :09:00.could address problems with schools so`called Trojan Horse allegations,

:09:45. > :09:48.came up, I went to speak to about 15, 20, of the most successful

:09:49. > :09:54.headteachers in Birmingham, of local authority schools. They said that

:09:55. > :09:59.Birmingham had been pretty tseless. That they wanted to do more. That

:10:00. > :10:04.they had approached the loc`l authority to do more so that they

:11:14. > :11:18.that is why it I want to do in future. Teams have spent nine months

:11:19. > :11:22.working on cars. Going from the first day building it from the

:11:23. > :11:28.chassis, to winning the racd, ten months later. It is the whole

:11:29. > :11:32.process of it, it is fantastic. I had never done anything likd this

:11:33. > :11:38.before. Now I feel like it would be interesting to do it every day, as a

:11:39. > :11:42.job. There was of jobs in engineering, not just messy ones and

:11:43. > :11:46.it has been great to experidnce all of the different parts of it. ``

:11:47. > :11:51.there are lots of jobs in engineering. All of the teals have

:11:52. > :11:54.been sponsored by local bushnesses. They have not just offered financial

:11:55. > :11:59.support, but given help and guidance. Getting behind thd wheel

:12:00. > :12:02.gives the students the chance to fine tune their designs and to

:12:48. > :12:50.Last month, JLR revealed thdy'd sold more than 200,000 vehicles

:15:43. > :15:46.a wish while she undergoes treatment, she asked for a garden to

:15:47. > :15:49.play in, at her home in Tamworth. As Bob Hockenhull reports,

:15:50. > :15:53.her dream today became a re`lity. So Tilly Sweet has put up whth

:15:54. > :16:00.a lot in her short life. She's been given her own garden to

:16:01. > :16:08.play in, especially created from scratch by the Round T`ble s

:16:09. > :16:18.Childrens Wish Charity. It is just wonderful. The gtys

:16:19. > :16:19.turned up and asked what shd wanted. And she told them. And they have

:16:20. > :16:22.done it exactly as she wantdd. After hearing about Tilly's

:16:23. > :16:23.condition, the Round Table contacted hdr

:16:24. > :16:27.parents to make her wish cole true. Before, there was just a yard at the

:16:28. > :16:39.family home in Tamworth. It was not child friendly bdfore.

:16:40. > :16:42.She has had lots of sad days, and totally now she will have lots of

:16:43. > :16:43.happy days and safe days in the garden.

:16:44. > :16:45.It's taken 10 days to complete the makdover.

:16:46. > :16:48.Many volunteers have given their time to help this little girl.

:16:49. > :17:00.It says a lot for Tamworth that people will come together and do

:17:01. > :17:04.good for people who need it. We are over the moon with it and jtst to

:17:05. > :17:06.see her out here smiling and enjoying it is in fantastic `` it is

:17:07. > :17:08.fantastic. The completion of the project

:17:09. > :17:11.has coincided with good news. Doctors have discovered Tilly's

:17:14. > :17:16.of chemotherapy, a strictly controlled diet and plenty of

:17:17. > :17:26.exercise is helping their d`ughter. If there was any doubt as to who

:17:27. > :17:27.this garden belongs to, this colourful wall makes it could

:17:33. > :17:35.before we left there was ond more Something which everyone here hopes

:17:36. > :17:50.will give brave Tilly many hours Now a busy summer of sport

:17:51. > :17:54.continues. Just two weeks until the start of the Commonwealth G`mes and

:17:55. > :17:59.Ian has been to meet one of our medal hopefuls.

:18:00. > :18:03.When Kelly Sibley was just 8 years old, her Mum took her for a game

:18:04. > :18:06.of table tennis at Lillington church hall in Leamington Spa.

:18:07. > :18:11.And now she's ranked England's number 2.

:18:12. > :18:13.When the Commonwealth Games begin two weeks today,

:18:14. > :18:15.Kelly is one of our best medal prospects, and she's been training

:18:16. > :18:30.The clock is ticking. The Commonwealth Games are almost here.

:18:31. > :18:34.And Kelly Sibley is going for gold in Glasgow. I am excited because I

:19:39. > :19:40.number one at 15. Remarkabld. A fantastic achievement. She has

:19:41. > :19:46.obviously still got it. It hs good to practice with her. I sent the

:19:47. > :19:55.best luck to Kelly, and just to be herself, and she can achievd it

:19:56. > :19:57.Having some players from thd elite table tennis nation of Chin` gives

:19:58. > :20:03.that level of consistency and control and power and ability on the

:20:04. > :20:06.table that will challenge and push our athletes. It is a vital

:20:07. > :20:11.ingredient on the route to Glasgow. Singapore will likely be thd

:20:12. > :20:15.toughest opponents for Engl`nd in Glasgow but Kelly is quietlx

:20:16. > :20:20.confident that her team`matds will return home with several medals

:21:42. > :21:45.amazing work. It is stimulating for creative people do have the

:21:46. > :21:48.opportunity to see what work is coming from other countries. The

:21:49. > :21:53.special thing is that the atdience can encounter the artists, `nd

:21:54. > :21:59.discover that we are not so different, and that Europe hs OK,

:22:00. > :22:04.actually. This year, Birmingham repertory's workshop has become a

:22:05. > :22:08.social hub. The idea is for the audience to experience 30 mhnute

:22:09. > :22:12.performances around the building. I just love the weirdness of ht, I

:22:13. > :22:18.absolutely love it, and cre`tivity, the enthusiasm of everybody.

:22:19. > :22:21.Sometimes I cannot describe it. I send a journal on to my colleagues

:22:22. > :22:27.and I cannot describe some of it, sometimes. It might not be the sort

:22:28. > :22:32.of theatre we are used to, but that is the whole point. I find ht

:22:33. > :22:38.exciting. I am not sitting there going, what does it mean? I am there

:22:39. > :22:41.thinking, my body is moving like this and I am really excited by

:22:42. > :22:48.these rhythms and tones and colours. It is full of passion. And so to the

:22:49. > :22:52.interval. Normally we go ond way and the performers the other but at this

:22:53. > :22:58.festival everybody comes onstage to share food, audience and artist in

:22:59. > :23:05.order to talk about what thdy have seen, so far. From onstage

:23:06. > :23:09.performances to installations, this is one festival which brings

:23:10. > :23:18.audiences closer to their performers. This is the one you have

:23:19. > :23:24.all been waiting for. Each xear more than 500,000 people trekked to the

:23:25. > :23:27.top of Mount Snowdon in Walds, 085 metres above sea level, it has

:23:28. > :23:32.attracted climbers for hundreds of years, but it has not seen `nything

:23:33. > :23:37.like this. At the end of July, Stuart Kettlewell Borja will trek to

:23:38. > :23:42.the summit pushing a Brussels sprouts with his nose. As any

:23:43. > :23:46.sportsman will tell you, warm up exercises and proper equipmdnt are

:23:47. > :23:50.important when embarking on a challenge. When that task is pushing

:23:51. > :23:59.a Brussels sprouts up Mount Snowdon, isn't it more question of

:24:00. > :24:03.sanity? People think I am m`d. I am beginning to think this mysdlf.

:24:04. > :24:12.Stuart has estimated it will take him four 10`hour days to colplete

:24:13. > :24:16.the climb to the summit of Snowdon. And what sort of sportsman hnjuries

:24:17. > :24:21.are you going to get from this? My neck, arms, knees and feet. It is

:24:22. > :24:26.probably one of the most uncomfortable positions I h`ve ever

:24:27. > :24:29.been in. The importance of the right type of Sprout cannot be

:24:30. > :24:34.underestimated. More than 50 will be used for the uphill nostril

:24:35. > :24:38.challenge. I need a large Sprout so that they does not fall down the

:24:39. > :24:44.cracks in the rocks. And I need a Sprout that is not going to go all

:24:45. > :24:48.mushy and give up on me. His practice sessions have insphred his

:24:49. > :24:56.18`month`old daughter, but on the streets of his village, the

:24:57. > :24:59.all`terrain nosed pavement training caused plenty of head turning and

:25:00. > :25:04.amazement. I have never seen anything like that in my life. He is

:25:05. > :25:09.absolutely crazy. I have sedn a few things in my life but nothing like

:25:10. > :25:14.that. Is it going to roll all the way down? Stuart is no stranger to

:25:15. > :25:18.bizarre fundraising but even he admits that, for this Sprout

:25:19. > :25:25.challenge, he's going to nedd more than just a fair wind behind him, to

:25:26. > :25:34.succeed. When he's finished, I hope he takes time to veg out. Now the

:25:35. > :25:39.weather. There was of something lurking around the corner nowadays,

:25:40. > :25:43.rain being the main thing. But we are looking at quite a lot of

:25:44. > :25:47.sunshine for the moment. We're looking at dry conditions now, which

:25:48. > :25:53.will change in the next few days. We have some rain and showers `nd some

:25:54. > :25:58.plan A, " this is to round tp the week. This rage of high pressure

:25:59. > :26:05.between these systems is kedping the showers at bay. Then we havd a warm

:26:06. > :26:09.front pushing in from the e`st, which is unusual because most of the

:26:10. > :26:14.weather comes in from the wdst. That will move in by the end of tomorrow,

:26:15. > :26:18.ushering in some more clammx air by the end of the week. That could be

:26:19. > :26:22.the trigger for some heavy showers on Friday and potentially some

:26:23. > :26:25.thunderstorms, before the ndxt system swings into the weekdnd and

:26:26. > :26:33.continues that theme. We ard enjoying some late evening shone ``

:26:34. > :26:37.sunshine now. Temperatures should fall to around 10 Celsius tonight.

:26:38. > :26:42.Even though we are enjoying some late sunshine, we're looking at

:26:43. > :26:46.cloud thickening in the east either that system for tomorrow evdning. We

:26:47. > :26:49.start with some sunshine through the course of tomorrow morning. It is

:26:50. > :26:57.quite a bright, sunny start for most places. That will send tempdratures

:26:58. > :27:01.up to around 24 Celsius across the south of the region. You will see

:27:02. > :27:06.those temperatures rising and that he'd beginning to kick in. Then site

:27:07. > :27:11.will be coupled with a fresh breeze from a north`westerly direction ``

:27:12. > :27:15.temperatures will be coupled with. Then, that rain coming in tomorrow

:27:16. > :27:20.evening and overnight. We whll see that pushing in. It will be mostly

:27:21. > :27:26.light rain but there could be the odd heavy burst. By the end of the

:27:27. > :27:33.week, we could see some thunderstorms. The headlines, new

:27:34. > :27:37.security measures for passengers at UK airports will now affect all

:27:38. > :27:40.flights. And the former West Murcia detective claims evidence of a

:27:41. > :27:46.paedophile ring in the 1990s was not followed up. I will be back at ten

:27:47. > :27:55.o'clock, I hope you can join me for that. Have a good evening.

:27:56. > :27:58.and this time the challenge is bigger than ever.

:27:59. > :28:01.Six young songwriters mark a major anniversary.

:28:02. > :28:06.It'll be really difficult to write a song for World War I

:28:07. > :28:09.They're really going to have to put themselves in those people's shoes.

:28:10. > :28:14.Guys, did that go perfectly? Did we forget the tune?

:28:15. > :28:16.I just don't want to mess it up There's a lot of pressure.

:28:17. > :28:19.A brand-new series of The Big Performance.
