:00:00. > :00:11.Good evening. in Glasgow.

:00:12. > :00:13.A Staffordshire police officer has been suspended

:00:14. > :00:16.after a video was posted online which appeared to show him

:00:17. > :00:23.It was apparently taken during a night out in Hanley.

:00:24. > :00:25.Both the force and the Independent Police Complaints

:00:26. > :00:27.Commission are now investigating while the woman involved has told

:00:28. > :00:36.This is the centre of Hanley, filmed on a smart phone, in

:00:37. > :00:51.Nikki Wright is the woman the officer is referring to.

:00:52. > :00:54.She says the incident unfolded as she was trying to help

:00:55. > :01:09.All of the sudden, they grabbed my right arm. I actually had a bump on

:01:10. > :01:17.my arm where they grabbed me. As I stopped myself from getting closer,

:01:18. > :01:27.his hand comes up and slaps me. He pulls me to the floor. That's when I

:01:28. > :01:30.shout, idea you, and he lets me go. `` I dear.

:01:31. > :01:32.This is Trinity Street, the area where the video was filmed.

:01:33. > :01:34.Staffordshire Police have begun an investigation.

:01:35. > :01:42.We take complaints about the conduct of our officers very seriously. I

:01:43. > :01:47.have seen the footage and it now forms part of a robust investigation

:01:48. > :01:48.into a complaint from a member of the public about an officer's

:01:49. > :01:51.behaviour. CCTV from around this area will

:01:52. > :02:05.form part of that investigation. Events and also captured by Cameron

:02:06. > :02:11.is that police carry. The commission are placing importance on

:02:12. > :02:16.transparency. We need an answer on this as soon as possible, it can

:02:17. > :02:17.strike on. I need to make sure that police officers act professionally

:02:18. > :02:19.even in difficult circumstances. Nikki Wright says she's sorry

:02:20. > :02:22.for swearing during the incident but wants an apology from

:02:23. > :02:24.the officer who's been suspended. The investigation is expected to

:02:25. > :02:27.be complete within a few weeks. Whatever its outcome,

:02:28. > :02:28.this footage illustrates how quickly images can be shared via social

:02:29. > :02:31.media and how footage can have The former MEP Nikki Sinclaire has

:02:32. > :02:41.been charged with misconduct in The 45`year`old is due in court in

:02:42. > :02:47.September to face claims that she made false statements for travel

:02:48. > :02:50.expenses and then transferred the The allegations date back to

:02:51. > :02:58.between 2009 and 2010 when Ms Sinclaire was a member of

:02:59. > :03:01.the European Parliament for UKIP. In a statement today she says she

:03:02. > :03:09.'strongly' refutes the charges. A man arrested on suspicion

:03:10. > :03:12.of the double murder of a Solihull couple has been sectioned under

:03:13. > :03:14.the mental health act. The 23`year`old was arrested

:03:15. > :03:17.after the bodies of Pin and Quoi Chang were found at their home on

:03:18. > :03:21.Hermitage Road on the 7th of July. He will now be assessed

:03:22. > :03:28.by mental health professionals. Two children who had been missing

:03:29. > :03:33.from their home in Birmingham since midday have been found safe

:03:34. > :03:35.and well. Four`year`old Adi Sava and

:03:36. > :03:37.Saina Sava, who's 11, More than 800 people gathered to pay

:03:38. > :03:45.tribute today to the West Midlands first Police and

:03:46. > :03:47.Crime Commissioner Bob Jones, A celebration of his life was held

:03:48. > :03:56.in his home city of Wolverhampton, which he'd served as a councillor

:03:57. > :04:03.for more than 30 years. The numbers

:04:04. > :04:05.grew and grew hundreds turning out to pay public tribute to a man who

:04:06. > :04:16.gave his life to public service. Police officers provide a guard of

:04:17. > :04:19.honour for his coffin, the mourners There were tears

:04:20. > :04:39.but there was gratitude too from This was a man of outstanding

:04:40. > :04:50.ability, a fine mind and a man with a mission. Bob was exceptionally

:04:51. > :04:55.intelligent and has knowledge of policing was second to none. He was

:04:56. > :05:01.assertive. He had a quiet confidence but never adopted in aid of

:05:02. > :05:04.superiority. He carried quietly, the significant responsibilities.

:05:05. > :05:07.After 30 years as a councillor, in 2012 Bob Jones became the

:05:08. > :05:09.West Midlands first Police and Crime Commissioner, striking up

:05:10. > :05:11.a close working relationship with the chief constable who noticed

:05:12. > :05:16.a change in the commissioner's unique dress sense.

:05:17. > :05:24.At the family's request, the abiding colour was read, a nod to his

:05:25. > :05:30.socialist principles, but the colour of vibrancy and warmth. He knew my

:05:31. > :05:36.name and I was a needle in a haystack for them. He was a lovely

:05:37. > :05:38.person. He was such a hard`working, loyal person. He will be true loss

:05:39. > :05:40.to the community. Bob Jones loved his country,

:05:41. > :05:42.the countryside, castles, real ale, steam railways and above all

:05:43. > :05:45.his family but he was a man who devoted himself to others and for

:05:46. > :05:54.that he earned universal respect. A Worcestershire factory has been

:05:55. > :05:57.brought back into use, thanks to an It's because there's

:05:58. > :06:01.a nationwide shortage of bricks, resulting in delays on some projects

:06:02. > :06:08.until supply can meet demand. Stanbrook Abbey near Worcester is

:06:09. > :06:11.undergoing major refurbishment. On site you will see carpenters,

:06:12. > :06:15.electricians and plasterers. What you won't see

:06:16. > :06:17.at the moment are bricklayers Normally you would expect bricks to

:06:18. > :06:23.be on a three or four`week delivery. On this project it is

:06:24. > :06:27.about a 14`week delivery period. So we have effectively

:06:28. > :06:31.a ten`week daily. Here at least, there's a lot

:06:32. > :06:34.of other work to do well they wait For others it is

:06:35. > :06:38.causing real problems. We have a project not far

:06:39. > :06:41.from here that lost six weeks on an order of 360,000 bricks that

:06:42. > :06:46.were suddenly stopped because production ran out and we

:06:47. > :06:50.had to source alternative bricks. The fact that the demand

:06:51. > :06:53.for bricks is outstripping supply is actually a good sign for the

:06:54. > :06:56.construction industry as a whole. And you don't have to look much

:06:57. > :06:58.further than this brickworks This place was mothballed

:06:59. > :07:03.in 2008 when the industry crashed Now it is being

:07:04. > :07:09.brought back to life. More demand means the

:07:10. > :07:14.construction industry is building Vena Burger, which owns the site,

:07:15. > :07:18.also runs this brickworks They are now looking to recruit 36

:07:19. > :07:23.full`time workers at the Worcestershire plant

:07:24. > :07:29.including apprentices. This year we'll probably build

:07:30. > :07:31.something of the order You have to compare that to

:07:32. > :07:40.2012 when it was as low as 120. The Government quite rightly

:07:41. > :07:42.suggested we should be building a minimum of 200,000 going forward,

:07:43. > :07:45.so it is that not just today?s demand, it is

:07:46. > :07:47.the demand going forward that gives The brick shortage is expected to

:07:48. > :07:53.level out but the industry is A new technique to tackle

:07:54. > :07:56.fly`tipping is being tried out Instead of clearing away rubbish,

:07:57. > :07:59.Telford and Wrekin Council is treating dumped waste as a crime

:08:00. > :08:02.scene, putting tape up around the They're trying to raise awareness of

:08:03. > :08:05.fly`tipping as a criminal offence. Twycross Zoo has been showing

:08:06. > :08:09.off its two new leopard cubs. The Amoor leopards are some

:08:10. > :08:12.of the rarest big cats in the world, with fewer than 50 now living

:08:13. > :08:15.in the wild. They're on the verge

:08:16. > :08:17.of extinction in their native Russia, but it's hoped

:08:18. > :08:20.that this pair, being raised on the Warwickshire`Leicestershire border

:08:21. > :08:22.will play an important part in Our next news will be in

:08:23. > :08:29.at Breakfast just before 6:30am I'll leave you with the weather

:08:30. > :08:42.from Rebecca. It is a calm and quiet night out

:08:43. > :08:46.there at the moment. By the time we wake up tomorrow there will be

:08:47. > :08:50.plenty of sunshine and it is going to be a lovely dry day. At the

:08:51. > :08:55.moment, there are clear spells. We're getting a bit of mist and fog

:08:56. > :09:00.forming over the North Midlands. For the risk of us, it is a calm and

:09:01. > :09:04.quiet night but sticky, with temperatures between 15 and 17

:09:05. > :09:08.Celsius. With clear spells, we wake up to glorious sunshine tomorrow

:09:09. > :09:15.morning. It means our temperatures are going to be higher tomorrow

:09:16. > :09:21.morning with high UV levels. Getting up to 20 Celsius with the moderate

:09:22. > :09:25.easterly breeze. By Friday, we have some good spells of sunshine

:09:26. > :09:28.continuing but we are starting to see a change of wind direction which

:09:29. > :09:31.will mean that things are a little cooler. More in the national

:09:32. > :09:34.forecast. of some showers and at Wilton cooler

:09:35. > :09:40.from the north. The national picture comes from Philip Avery.

:09:41. > :09:50.Unusually, I can say good morning. Wednesday has been noticeable for a

:09:51. > :09:55.number of reasons. From a meteorological point of view, it was

:09:56. > :09:59.the warmest day of the year for Wales and Northern Ireland. Nothing

:10:00. > :10:02.like it across the East of Scotland, where the temperature was locked

:10:03. > :10:08.firmly into the mid-teens thanks to the presence of the low cloud and

:10:09. > :10:11.fog. It is there again as it has been, making inroads through the

:10:12. > :10:17.Clyde Valley is, to the Tyne Valley and areas east of the Pennines.

:10:18. > :10:21.Another very close night, 17, 18 or 19, something of that order. It will

:10:22. > :10:22.take some time on
