:00:00. > :00:26.cannot resuscitate a dead m`n. The plans would mean just one

:00:35. > :00:39.that's what it was in here. A coroner rules a seven`year`old

:01:14. > :01:16.Campaigners fighting against plans to reorganise healthcare

:01:17. > :01:18.across Shropshire are holding NHS bosses want to have just one

:01:19. > :01:25.accident and emergency unit Elsewhere in the Midlands,

:01:26. > :01:32.Stafford's A unit is only open between eight

:01:33. > :01:34.in the morning till ten at night. In Redditch, there's concern over

:01:35. > :01:38.plans to downgrade services at the Alexandra hospital

:01:39. > :01:42.and move them to Worcester. And in Sutton Coldfield, general,

:01:43. > :02:09.trauma and orthopaedic surgdry could Making jam. This man arrived in

:02:10. > :02:15.hospital with blood so seven it would not clock. I'm now Ikd came

:02:16. > :02:31.very close to dying. I would not have made it if I had to go to

:02:32. > :02:35.Telford. This, believe plachng and A industries very is obvious. If

:02:36. > :02:41.they have got to do the extra 2 minutes, it is going to put a lot of

:02:42. > :02:45.strain on, I would have thotght A children and maternity unit has just

:02:46. > :02:49.opened at princes Royal, and normally, commissions would have

:02:50. > :02:59.want this worker would have wanted an emergency surgery alongshde.

:03:00. > :03:05.Patients often have a Ashok wrote some patients from Wales have to

:03:06. > :03:09.travel 70 miles `` some pathents from Wales have to travel 70 miles.

:03:10. > :03:14.The only decision made so f`r with the blessing of doctors is that

:03:15. > :03:20.there should be just one A We have to go through a process of

:03:21. > :03:25.drawing up options, and those will include the possibility of

:03:26. > :03:29.Shrewsbury to remain a centre. With the County Public Hospital running a

:03:30. > :03:32.?15 million deficit, somethhng must be done, but this bubble believes it

:03:33. > :03:42.could be a matter of life and death. A coroner has ruled that thdre were

:03:43. > :03:45."missed opportunities" treating a seven`year`old girl who died

:03:46. > :03:49.after contracting croup . seven`year`old girl who died

:03:50. > :03:51.after contracting croup. Evelyn Smith's parents sought

:03:52. > :03:54.medical help on three occashons The coroner has said

:03:55. > :03:57.the death was preventable. As Joan Cummins reports, Evdlyn s

:03:58. > :04:10.parents now want assurances that the She was very full of life. She loved

:04:11. > :04:14.performing and she loved ballet She always wanted everyone to join in

:04:15. > :04:19.the fund. On the 13th of September last year, this seven`year`old girl

:04:20. > :04:26.died after contracting a respiratory infection brought on by. Shd went to

:04:27. > :04:33.bed, but at two o'clock in the morning, I was woken by her bursting

:04:34. > :04:39.into the bedroom saying, I cannot read. Over the next 36 hours, her

:04:40. > :04:47.father sought `` family sought medical attention on three separate

:04:48. > :04:50.occasions, it including a A department and GP surgery. H thought

:04:51. > :04:56.I had the medication that she needed. I brought her home, went to

:04:57. > :05:03.get the prescription, and then an hour later she died. NHS England

:05:04. > :05:08.issued a statement on behalf of the GP surgery, where they offered their

:05:09. > :05:14.sympathies to the family and said that staff here did the best to

:05:15. > :05:19.treat the girl but acknowledged that opportunities had been missdd. They

:05:20. > :05:24.say that now GPs in the are` will be reminded of the potential d`ngers of

:05:25. > :05:28.croup. So in the statement from the south Warwickshire NHS Trust it says

:05:29. > :05:32.that she died from a very r`re condition that affects one hn a

:05:33. > :05:38.million people, which was m`sked by common symptoms that were

:05:39. > :05:46.appropriately treated by doctors in A When you hear that statement,

:05:47. > :05:49.how does it make you feel? H just feel that that is an incredhble

:05:50. > :05:55.statement in view of what the coroner said. Although nothhng will

:05:56. > :06:00.make up for the loss of thehr daughter, the Smith family hope by

:06:01. > :06:14.speaking to the BBC, other parents will be more aware of the d`ngers of

:06:15. > :06:20.won. `` of a croup. Changes to the level of service at any possible ``

:06:21. > :06:25.hospital is unpopular of cotrse but what are the reasons? The fhrst one

:06:26. > :06:32.is finances, running two hospitals is always expensive, and we are in

:06:33. > :06:37.a. Of severe financial rushdr. `` we are in a time of severe fin`ncial

:06:38. > :06:39.pressure. There is a feeling that if you concentrate people together in

:06:40. > :06:46.one site you can produce better care. I am joined by Jill Gdorge,

:06:47. > :06:50.who started this campaign to maintain services in Shropshire No

:06:51. > :06:58.decision has been made. You are scaremongering, aren't you? No. We

:06:59. > :07:03.are very clear that the dechsion has been taken and it has been taken

:07:04. > :07:07.behind closed doors. The NHS bosses tell us that no decision has been

:07:08. > :07:11.taken and I think they are being economical with the truth, `nd what

:07:12. > :07:15.they are proposing is in thd small print of their own documents, when

:07:16. > :07:22.you read these things careftlly it is about closing the A in

:07:23. > :07:25.Shropshire, and that is thehr decision. I hear what you are

:07:26. > :07:29.saying, that you are an inddpendent organisation, but there seels to be

:07:30. > :07:34.a lot of union involvement hn this. We are very proud to have unions as

:07:35. > :07:40.part of the campaign. Why wouldn't we be? We are aiming to build a rod

:07:41. > :07:45.`based campaign to defend the NHS and we are very clear that dveryone

:07:46. > :07:54.needs the NHS, unless you are super rich. We will bring you the events

:07:55. > :07:58.that will happen later on at the leaders.

:07:59. > :08:06.We'll be talking to Jordannd Whiley after winning all four major tennis

:08:07. > :08:10.The Italian authorities havd dropped their case against a Staffordshire

:08:11. > :08:15.lorry driver, 15 years after he was arrested for having illegal

:08:16. > :08:19.Michael Mullen has spent his life savings trying to clear

:08:20. > :08:23.his name, after four Kosovans were found concealed in the vehicle.

:08:24. > :08:25.It comes as authorities across Europe are warning

:08:26. > :08:28.the number of migrants taking risks to hide themselves is on thd rise.

:08:29. > :08:31.War and poverty is driving incrdasing

:08:32. > :08:47.And it is lorry drivers who face prosecution when they do.

:08:48. > :08:50.In 1999, Michael Mullen spent 1 days in an Italian jail bec`use

:08:51. > :08:52.despite making regular checks, four refugees were found in his truck

:08:53. > :09:12.I open the truck every mornhng and checked the truck and drive on. I

:09:13. > :09:17.hundred percent I had done nothing wrong. That is what kept me going.

:09:18. > :09:20.`` I knew 100%. At this training centre in Fradley,

:09:21. > :09:33.they try to educate drivers They can be found in very compact

:09:34. > :09:39.spaces. There are lots of places lower down where they can try and

:09:40. > :09:44.be, aren't they? Yes. As we move back along the vehicle, we have the

:09:45. > :09:48.space here between the rails. There are gaps and spaces that thd person

:09:49. > :09:53.can squeeze in between. If xou were on something like that, that is

:09:54. > :09:57.incredibly dangerous, isn't it? They would either tie themselves into

:09:58. > :09:59.position so they do not follow, or they would try and hang on for a

:10:00. > :10:01.short time. Under current legislation, ht is

:10:02. > :10:03.drivers who are responsible if people are found on their vdhicles,

:10:04. > :10:07.but under here you can see just how many places there are to hide

:10:08. > :10:18.and why that job is so diffhcult. People great initiative and hiding

:10:19. > :10:28.under the vehicles, so the driver has got to do the best he c`n. This

:10:29. > :10:35.dangerous game of cat and mouse seems set to continue.

:10:36. > :10:37.A 13`year`old boy is appeardd in court charged with murdering

:10:38. > :10:43.47`year`old Glynis Bensley died from a head injury after shd was

:10:44. > :10:47.The teenager, who can't be named for legal reasons, appeared

:10:48. > :10:50.He was remanded in custody to appear at

:10:51. > :10:54.The government is to spend over ?14 million on road improvements

:10:55. > :10:57.in Walsall as part of efforts to create new jobs.

:10:58. > :11:00.The aim is to improve access to sites in the Darlaston area

:11:01. > :11:02.which could be developed to provide future employment.

:11:03. > :11:05.The full cost of the project is put at almost ?26 million.

:11:06. > :11:10.Work is due to start this month and carry on until 2016.

:11:11. > :11:14.We're joined by Grand Slam tennis champion Jordanne Whhley

:11:15. > :11:17.I'll be chatting to her in a minute but first, let's take

:11:18. > :11:22.Jordanne first picked up a tennis racket at the age of three.

:11:23. > :11:26.Born with brittle bone dise`se, she's broken her legs

:11:27. > :11:32.At the age of 14, she won the British national women's

:11:33. > :11:34.title before going on to claim a Paralympic bronze

:11:35. > :11:41.But this year has been her most successful.

:11:42. > :11:44.Along with her doubles partner, Yui Kamiji, she achieved

:11:45. > :11:47.a calendar Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open in Janu`ry, the

:11:48. > :11:56.French Open in June, Wimbledon in July and the US Open last wdekend.

:11:57. > :11:58.Congratulations, the first British player to complete

:11:59. > :12:09.It means the world to me. I cannot believe that I would have m`de

:12:10. > :12:13.history. It is still sinking in When we spoke after you'd won

:12:14. > :12:15.your Wimbledon title, you were hesitant about whether

:12:16. > :12:33.you'd complete the Grand Sl`m. It is a lot of pressure for any

:12:34. > :12:38.athletes to hold on their shoulders. I knew going into the match that

:12:39. > :12:42.this is possibly the biggest match of my career. It is hard not to

:12:43. > :12:47.think about the win, but yot have to think about the journey to the wind

:12:48. > :12:54.instead, which is hard, trust me, but we managed to do it and I am so

:12:55. > :12:58.pleased. I have spoken to other athletes who say that you h`ve to

:12:59. > :13:02.take it point by point. You really have to, because you can lose focus.

:13:03. > :13:13.I hope it will raise the profile of wheelchair tennis because it is not

:13:14. > :13:19.on the map and it should be. We compete at just such a high level. I

:13:20. > :13:23.am hoping that my success whll make me a face for the sport and people

:13:24. > :13:28.can recognise me and come and support me and the other athletes.

:13:29. > :13:33.Why'd you think it is not on the map? I think the media focuses

:13:34. > :13:39.little bit more on other sports I am not sure why. Tennis is such a

:13:40. > :13:45.big sport in Britain, so whx should wheelchair tennis I be out there?

:13:46. > :13:48.You think about the love for tennis in this country, particularly

:13:49. > :13:51.Wimbledon, and I was there this year, and seeing the crowds around

:13:52. > :13:55.the courts when you were pl`ying, they were fantastic, but it is a

:13:56. > :14:00.shame that that does not happen the rest of the year. My social media

:14:01. > :14:06.sites are going crazy. They want to see tennis `` wheelchair tennis and

:14:07. > :14:11.they want to see me in action. What about the financial side? When we

:14:12. > :14:14.think of people who play sports for a living, people think it is

:14:15. > :14:19.terribly glamourous and rew`rding financially, but there is a big gap

:14:20. > :14:28.between the tennis tour and/or prize money. Yes, that is due to the media

:14:29. > :14:33.and wheelchair tennis is not featured anywhere apart frol the red

:14:34. > :14:37.button, which affects our prize money. I am hoping we can ptt

:14:38. > :14:42.wheelchair tennis on the map because it can be an expensive sport. I am

:14:43. > :14:48.lucky to have a few sponsors, because without them, I would not be

:14:49. > :14:54.anywhere. What is next? Your account down to Rio and the Olympics? Yes,

:14:55. > :15:00.that is the big goal. Everything I do from now on will be or Rho. It is

:15:01. > :15:11.great to see you. Many congratulations. I that your family

:15:12. > :15:16.is very proud. Thank you. `` Ibex. `` I bet your family is verx proud.

:15:17. > :15:21.Claims from campaigners fighting changes to the NHS in Shropshire.

:15:22. > :15:23.Your detailed weather forecast to come shortly.

:15:24. > :15:27.How a resurgence in the poptlarity of real ale is propping up our pubs.

:15:28. > :15:39.The target to raise ?2.75 mhllion to save the Wedgewood collection.

:15:40. > :15:41.If you've ever been to the Herefordshire market town

:15:42. > :15:44.of Ledbury, you'll know that it s not short on historic buildhngs

:15:45. > :15:46.Six of them, said to be facing an uncert`in

:15:47. > :15:50.future, have been chosen as part of a pilot project to securd ?2

:15:51. > :15:56.The idea is that they're preserved and given new purpose

:15:57. > :16:04.A market town on the sunny side of the Malverns.

:16:05. > :16:07.There's Tudor heritage at every turn.

:16:08. > :16:10.Its timber frames, not always in fashion,

:16:11. > :16:21.lend the town a charm and antiquity that draws visitors from af`r.

:16:22. > :16:26.Many of these buildings havd been lying empty for decades and they

:16:27. > :16:28.need a whole lot more than ` lick of paint.

:16:29. > :16:43.That was the library which is mock Tudor.

:16:44. > :16:45.The building which houses the heritage centre is

:16:46. > :16:48.most definitely the real thhng and is in danger of splitting into two.

:16:49. > :16:49.Something needs to be done and urgently.

:16:50. > :16:54.A swanky architect's fly through is part of the bid to get fundhng

:16:55. > :16:57.for six public buildings including the town's famous market hotse.

:16:58. > :17:02.It is important to keep these buildings in community use `nd

:17:03. > :17:06.community ownership and there is a danger that there won't be the

:17:07. > :17:07.funding in the future to sustain these very expensive buildings and

:17:08. > :17:09.they will be lost. As with many lottery bids,

:17:10. > :17:12.to succeed, the Ledbury project will have to prove all the buildings

:17:13. > :17:22.are as accessible as possible. Which raises a contentious hssue for

:17:23. > :17:32.this building in particular, the market house. There is even talk of

:17:33. > :17:36.a glass elevator. I think, for this building, it would actually ruin

:17:37. > :17:40.this beautiful building. Thdre are not many of these in the UK. It

:17:41. > :17:46.would just destroy the whold concept of the building. It is a sm`ll

:17:47. > :17:51.section of a modernization hn a very old building. I think it wotld be a

:17:52. > :17:55.good idea because there are quite a lot of elderly people about.

:17:56. > :17:59.The town will know in January if it's won the ?2 million.

:18:00. > :18:05.I cannot see that national government would want us to fail at

:18:06. > :18:12.the first hurdle. I hope th`t is the case, anyway.

:18:13. > :18:14.There's currently a 7,000 strong petition in Ledbury against

:18:15. > :18:17.the proposed lift in the market house, with some residents `lso

:18:18. > :18:20.concerned about changing thd use of some of the historic buildings.

:18:21. > :18:22.Aston Villa's new signing Tom Cleverley has been speaking to the

:18:23. > :18:25.media for the first time since his move from Manchester United today.

:18:26. > :18:29.The midfielder, who's played for England 13 times, has rdceived

:18:30. > :18:32.a lot of criticism from football fans over the last few months.

:18:33. > :18:42.As Ben Sidwell reports, he's hoping to prove many people wrong.

:18:43. > :18:45.Tom Cleverley knows what it's like to score at Villa Park.

:18:46. > :18:52.In fact his one league goal last season came against his new team.

:18:53. > :18:59.I have played at the park m`ny times and they enjoy it. Great pitch,

:19:00. > :19:02.great fans, a good and exciting team.

:19:03. > :19:04.Told he was surplus to requhrements at Manchester United,

:19:05. > :19:06.Cleverley officially joined Villa on loan 16 hours

:19:07. > :19:09.Although the deal almost fell through with rumours of

:19:10. > :19:21.That is not the case. My agdnt got a big a stick of me and the m`nager.

:19:22. > :19:43.He is a top player. If he does what `` bit of

:19:44. > :19:49.He is a top player. If he does what he does that I will be happx. ``

:19:50. > :19:52.Despite being an England international,

:19:53. > :19:56.Cleverley has recently becole the target for abuse from football

:19:57. > :20:04.As long as Manchester United are out winning trophies, players whll get

:20:05. > :20:12.criticised. I am fully award of that, but I still have a le`gue

:20:13. > :20:13.title, and you don't not pl`yed because someone says somethhng to

:25:06. > :25:14.doctor has gone on trial for sexually abusing ten women while

:25:15. > :25:18.pretending to treat them. Hd denies 14 counts of sexual assault. A trial

:25:19. > :25:29.is expected to last up to fhve weeks.

:25:30. > :25:35.A sculpture which could be worth millions was removed by new owners

:25:36. > :25:40.of a centre in June. The issue was raised in the Commons earlidr by a

:25:41. > :25:47.Wolverhampton MP. The leader of the house said it would be posshble to

:25:48. > :25:51.protect the sculpture. It is possible for protection to be

:25:52. > :25:56.offered to such sculptures, and he might seek a debate on the wider

:25:57. > :26:00.issues of protecting our cultural landmarks, but I am sure th`t my

:26:01. > :26:05.ministerial colleagues would also be pleased to meet him to disctss what

:26:06. > :26:09.can be done to help his campaign to save this particular sculpttre for
