:19:51. > :20:03.And we had another near miss yesterday with Nick Skelton.
:20:04. > :20:08.Yes, he finished third in the BBC's Sports personality of the year
:20:09. > :20:13.58-year-old Skelton from Warwickshire
:20:14. > :20:20.Last night, Skelton finished behind the runner-up, Alistair Brownlee.
:20:21. > :20:26.that a key member of his family hadn't voted for him.
:20:27. > :20:29.I've got a bit of a bone to pick with my wife,
:20:30. > :20:31.because she actually told me about an hour ago
:20:32. > :20:39.So not smart from her, with Christmas coming up.
:20:40. > :20:45.If that vote would have counted, it would've a different result.
:20:46. > :20:48.Yes, Nick was just one of those I interviewed last night,
:20:49. > :20:54.The culmination of a wonderful year of sport -
:20:55. > :20:56.all pulled together by a big team at the BBC.
:20:57. > :21:10.Almost 10 million switched on to watch Andy Murray
:21:11. > :21:16.along with 12,000 inside the Genting Arena.
:21:17. > :21:20.This celebration of sport has been months in the planning.
:21:21. > :21:27.Well, come with me, and we'll find out.
:21:28. > :21:30.Here are the 16 for 2016, and the details you need to vote...
:21:31. > :21:32.Six hours before the programme goes on air,
:21:33. > :21:38.the technical rehearsal irons out any last minute niggles.
:21:39. > :21:42.The scale of this production is huge - one camera in the wrong place
:21:43. > :21:43.and the whole programme could fall apart.
:21:44. > :21:46.Everyone needs to be ready for their cue.
:21:47. > :21:48.Technical rehearsals are over, all seemed to go well.
:21:49. > :21:53.So let's go and have a chat with one of the stars of the show.
:21:54. > :21:55.There's not many people I'd let into my make-up room,
:21:56. > :21:59.Clare, of all the things you do the BBC sport,
:22:00. > :22:03.And it's because of the live audience.
:22:04. > :22:06.But also, in all those front seats, you're looking out
:22:07. > :22:09.and there's Ian Thorpe and there's Michael Phelps and Adam Peaty
:22:10. > :22:12.and Jason and Laura Kenny are in the front row.
:22:13. > :22:17.if you get anything wrong, they will notice.
:22:18. > :22:24.But I'm not a showgirl, you know what I mean?
:22:25. > :22:27.I'm not used at the lights and the razzle-dazzle,
:22:28. > :22:30.and the guns going off with the ticker tape and all that.
:22:31. > :22:34.So I don't know, it's a much bigger show, it's a huge show.
:22:35. > :22:38.I'd love Nick Skelton to be top three, obviously!
:22:39. > :22:43.You know, it will never happen again.
:22:44. > :22:47.He doesn't think he'll ever be on the list again.
:22:48. > :22:50.People are starting to take their seats now for the big show,
:22:51. > :22:53.which started in the planning, way back in January.
:22:54. > :22:57.Let's meet one of the team who's put it all together.
:22:58. > :23:01.We've got 17 articulated trucks that deliver the set,
:23:02. > :23:09.We're using 130 microphones, seven sound mixers.
:23:10. > :23:14.We've got ten kilometres of power, forget about the camera cables.
:23:15. > :23:19.including all the various BBC regions that are here.
:23:20. > :23:22.Using 17 in the main arena and a number around backstage as well.
:23:23. > :23:25.Do you actually get to enjoy this, or is it just a complete nightmare?
:23:26. > :23:27.I get to enjoy it on about Monday afternoon.
:23:28. > :23:30.I will spool it back and have a look,
:23:31. > :23:31."where could we have done better?"
:23:32. > :23:34.Or a sit-down after Christmas to look through it.
:23:35. > :23:37.Some final fine tuning and a chance to shake off the pre-match nerves,
:23:38. > :23:45.11 months of planning boil down to two hours of slick TV.
:23:46. > :23:48.Clare even got her wish of an award for Nick Skelton.
:23:49. > :23:57.The weather might not be feeling very festive,
:23:58. > :24:04.but there's certainly some Christmas cheer where Rebecca is this evening.
:24:05. > :24:08.You're the king very festive yourself!
:24:09. > :24:12.Thank you. I would like my own choir to accompany me for the rest of the
:24:13. > :24:16.festive period. It might look festive here at the moment, but it
:24:17. > :24:24.was a different scene last week because the tree and then the 70s
:24:25. > :24:27.scene -- nativity scene were stolen. Helen is in charge for putting this
:24:28. > :24:33.display in. When you saw it was stolen, how did you feel? I felt
:24:34. > :24:37.stunned, actually. I could not stay in for the rest of the day, I had to
:24:38. > :24:45.go out. I could not believe that Christmas had been stolen for the
:24:46. > :24:50.second time in two years. Everything was taken. They came back a few days
:24:51. > :25:02.later and took the stand away, a smaller nativity set had been on. We
:25:03. > :25:08.have the local police officer. What does it mean when the community gets
:25:09. > :25:13.together like this? It is an amazing example of what can happen when the
:25:14. > :25:19.community comes together. We have three trees here now, but no sign of
:25:20. > :25:21.the nativity scene. If that makes you feel warm ahead of Christmas,
:25:22. > :25:32.that is the only thing that is. In fact, today is the last of the
:25:33. > :25:35.settled weather because we are going to start to see a change after
:25:36. > :25:40.tomorrow. For tomorrow, it is a brighter picture, with a chill in
:25:41. > :25:46.the air. It will feel fresher for a time as well. As for tonight, it is
:25:47. > :25:49.dry at the moment, surprisingly, but we have a weather system which is
:25:50. > :25:54.about to come in from the east which will give us some downpours
:25:55. > :25:59.overnight. As that clears, we'll be left with holes in the cloud which
:26:00. > :26:04.will lead to mist and fog patches, but nothing like we saw yesterday.
:26:05. > :26:07.It will be a clear start across the South and east tomorrow, with some
:26:08. > :26:09.dry and bright spells to come through the morning. But it will be
:26:10. > :26:14.chilly because temperatures are likely to dip down to between two
:26:15. > :26:18.and five Celsius. A touch of frost in some places. A dry and bright
:26:19. > :26:23.start for the Southeast, steadily spreading north and west. We will
:26:24. > :26:27.see the skies clearing, some pleasant spells of sunshine and
:26:28. > :26:31.light winds. Averages should push up to around seven Celsius. As we had
:26:32. > :26:36.through the remainder of tomorrow, we will start to see the cloud
:26:37. > :26:40.thickening and that will be ahead of a weather system which comes in from
:26:41. > :26:42.the west. Plenty of rain to come as we head through Tuesday night into
:26:43. > :26:49.Wednesday, with temperatures hovering between two and five
:26:50. > :26:57.Celsius. As we head towards the remainder of the week, it was the
:26:58. > :27:02.Christmas weekend, it will continue to get more subtle. Heavy downpours
:27:03. > :27:05.at times, strong winds as well. If you are looking for a white
:27:06. > :27:08.Christmas, the only chance of that is if you get to higher ground and
:27:09. > :27:13.even then it is more likely to be falling as sleet. We have some
:27:14. > :27:15.fantastic music here, all from the West Midlands Police choir. I will
:27:16. > :27:36.leave you with them singing. That's all for now,
:27:37. > :27:47.your next news at 10:30pm. Ben dropping
:27:48. > :27:52.a frozen turkey on Mum's foot. Put me down!
:27:53. > :27:55.No, we talked about this.
