:01:04. > :01:05.But will we be so lucky this weekend?
:01:06. > :01:22.The future of Wolverhampton has gone on show on the French Riviera.
:01:23. > :01:30.It's hoped businesses attending an international property convention
:01:31. > :01:33.in Cannes will help to regenerate the City - and create 2500
:01:34. > :01:37.It's part of a multi million pound redevelopment of Wolverhampton.
:01:38. > :01:39.As our Black Country reporter Ben Godfrey has been discovering,
:01:40. > :01:48.the investment has been a long time coming.
:01:49. > :01:51.You have to go back a long way to hear people talking up
:01:52. > :01:53.Wolverhampton as a place of prosperity.
:01:54. > :01:56.But after years of failed regeneration,
:01:57. > :02:07.of missed opportunity, the economic clouds are parting.
:02:08. > :02:13.a staggering ?3.7 billion is currently being invested into
:02:14. > :02:17.Wolverhampton. It's the largest Invesco meant in years.
:02:18. > :02:20.The Mander Centre is being rebuilt, grim old market buildings are making
:02:21. > :02:25.way for a massive retail corridor on the Westside, and the decaying
:02:26. > :02:28.railway station will be rebuilt as part of a
:02:29. > :02:37.And this is i9 - a prestige office development,
:02:38. > :02:40.occupying 50,000 square feet of land next to the historic
:02:41. > :02:45.Today, the plans went on show in Cannes, where international
:02:46. > :03:01.With 2000 and eight in the economic recession, Wolverhampton was hit the
:03:02. > :03:04.same as other people. The last few years we've been moving into an
:03:05. > :03:05.economic recovery phase. Now we're into the really confident phase
:03:06. > :03:11.where we know we can do things. Around 2,500 jobs will be
:03:12. > :03:14.created in the city centre, when the Wolverhampton interchange
:03:15. > :03:20.is complete. There's some brilliant work being
:03:21. > :03:30.done about how you rigid generator cities. If you can keep that 20 to
:03:31. > :03:30.30-year-olds in the city, the city will regenerate.
:03:31. > :03:32.But for many Wulfrunians, large scale regeneration
:03:33. > :03:35.like this is decades overdue, so you can forgive some cynicism.
:03:36. > :03:45.You've got places like Bentley Bridge, St John's retail centre, you
:03:46. > :03:49.can actually do your shopping without coming into town centre. It
:03:50. > :03:53.just ate a little bit more, a bit more shine to it. You have people
:03:54. > :03:57.who live on the street and that is not good if you are doing with
:03:58. > :03:57.generation. You want to take care of your people.
:03:58. > :04:00.With a growing student population, the city is becoming one
:04:01. > :04:04.Investment brings new challenges then, and here the demand
:04:05. > :04:08.for affordable homes has never been higher.

:04:28. > :04:37.It is all ready been secured and we are hoping if everything goes to
:04:38. > :04:47.plan everything should be up and ready at the end of 2018. Apologies
:04:48. > :04:49.for the interruption. We'll see if we can go back once we've gotten rid
:04:50. > :04:52.of the interloper! How much does the regeneration
:04:53. > :05:07.of the City depend on investors I think if you have great products
:05:08. > :05:12.to sell you need to go where the action is. And the action is where
:05:13. > :05:15.all the global players come together and if that is the place you need to
:05:16. > :05:20.be that is the place you need to be. And if you are not there then you're
:05:21. > :05:25.not serious about your products, your place. You will be missed and
:05:26. > :05:27.people will know that. Well, there is certainly no shortage of
:05:28. > :05:28.enthusiasm in Wolverhampton! The point was made in the report
:05:29. > :05:31.about taking care of the people of the City -
:05:32. > :05:33.not just office space, but affordable homes,
:05:34. > :05:43.plans for that? Absolutely. If you look at Bilston,
:05:44. > :05:51.there is ready and village being built there. We should be looking at
:05:52. > :05:56.another 13 to 15,000 homes. Across the country we are looking at
:05:57. > :05:59.40,000. For the region to work it needs housing, infrastructure and
:06:00. > :06:02.with this kind of investment you are taking all the boxes. Thank you very
:06:03. > :06:05.much. BMW workers at the Hams Hall engine
:06:06. > :06:08.plant in Warwickshire could be going out on strike,
:06:09. > :06:11.in protest at the car makers plans BMW wants to close the current
:06:12. > :06:16.scheme for everyone at the end of May -
:06:17. > :06:19.workers say they stand to lose Hands off our pensions!
:06:20. > :06:26.Hands off our pensions! They've never protested
:06:27. > :06:29.like this before - but then there's never been
:06:30. > :06:31.so much at stake. ?150,000?
:06:32. > :06:35.It's roughly about ?130,000. That's what they reckon they'll lose
:06:36. > :06:40.if BMW push through with a plan to end the current final salary
:06:41. > :06:45.pension scheme by May of this year. Last year BMW reported record
:06:46. > :06:51.profits of ?6 billion. There's real anger here today -
:06:52. > :06:54.in fact, industrial relations are said to be at their
:06:55. > :06:57.most fraught since the They say they are proud
:06:58. > :07:06.of what they call excellent pension
:07:07. > :07:07.provision in the past but, crucially, they want
:07:08. > :07:10.toensure and protect pension With an ageing population though,
:07:11. > :07:16.some argue big companies like BMW can't afford final salary
:07:17. > :07:20.pensions any more. Profitable companies,
:07:21. > :07:24.it's part of the package they offer. Our members have actually
:07:25. > :07:26.given up some of their pay in the past to make sure this
:07:27. > :07:31.pension scheme operates properly. Many of the 600 staff
:07:32. > :07:34.here transfered from BMW's The agreement was that when we came
:07:35. > :07:41.over here they would keep our final And we feel let down
:07:42. > :07:45.that they haven't done that and honoured that agreement
:07:46. > :07:47.from when we did come over here. Because they needed
:07:48. > :07:49.skills to come into this A ballot for industrial action
:07:50. > :07:55.will close at the end of March - unions say a strike is imminent

:11:36. > :11:38.back and you had to avoid them, But it doesn't stop
:11:39. > :11:41.her living her life. She's thriving at school,

:11:44. > :11:48.environment, and change the tables We had to add a medical room
:11:49. > :11:53.to the school so there's a safe, sterile environment to deal
:11:54. > :11:58.with Poppy's needs. There's no cure for the condition,
:11:59. > :12:00.and that's why her parents Debra, the EB charity,
:12:01. > :12:07.term it as "the worse disease That's their slogan
:12:08. > :12:11.for their charity, because so many Nothing at all holds her back -
:12:12. > :12:18.she's very, very strong willed. She won't do anything
:12:19. > :12:26.she doesn't want to do. And we're all really,
:12:27. > :12:28.really proud of her. I like cuddles with
:12:29. > :12:30.Mummy, Daddy and Jacob. Poppy tries to lead as normal a life

:22:11. > :22:15.concert to see this great man. So here it is, Bob Marley on that day,
