:00:08. > :00:11.The Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, has highlighted

:00:12. > :00:17.the Worcestershire Royal as the most troubled hospital in England.

:00:18. > :00:20.His comments come after the deaths of two patients who were waiting

:00:21. > :00:23.in corridors in A and another who was found on a ward.

:00:24. > :00:26.Earlier in the day, he met the Redditch MP Karen Lumley

:00:27. > :00:29.and gave her assurances about extra support for the county's hospitals.

:00:30. > :00:37.So, Ben, today's statement was pretty bleak for Worcestershire?

:00:38. > :00:40.The comments today have been pretty damning.

:00:41. > :00:42.The Health Secretary's said the Worcestershire Royal

:00:43. > :00:47.is the hospital he's most worried about anywhere in the country.

:00:48. > :00:52.It's in special measures, without a current chief executive

:00:53. > :00:54.and then there were these three deaths this week.

:00:55. > :00:56.This afternoon, Jeremy Hunt told the House of Commons

:00:57. > :01:00.that the problem of patients waiting on trollies was mainly down to just

:01:01. > :01:03.The most recent statistics show that nearly three quarters of trolley

:01:04. > :01:08.In Worcestershire in particular, there have been a number

:01:09. > :01:13.of unacceptably long trolley waits, and in the media, two reported

:01:14. > :01:17.We're also aware of ongoing problems in north Midlands,

:01:18. > :01:22.with extremely high numbers of 12-hour trolley waits.

:01:23. > :01:24.Responding to Mr Hunt, the Shadow Health Secretary,

:01:25. > :01:26.Jonathan Ashworth, asked if the Government would take action

:01:27. > :01:32.One of the most upsetting reports to come out of hospitals last week

:01:33. > :01:35.was the death of two patients at Worcestershire Royal who had been

:01:36. > :01:40.Can I ask the Secretary of State if he will commit to personally lead

:01:41. > :02:03.Karen Lumley met with Jeremy Hunt today. What was her discussion

:02:04. > :02:04.about? Problems at the Worcestershire Royal

:02:05. > :02:07.haven't been helped by the transfer of a number of services

:02:08. > :02:09.from the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, but the town's MP,

:02:10. > :02:12.Karen Lumley, said she was given a number of assurances

:02:13. > :02:14.from the Health Secretary. He gave us assurances

:02:15. > :02:16.that they are putting They are also opening another ward

:02:17. > :02:20.now to make sure that we alleviate But, as I said to you just earlier,

:02:21. > :02:24.that is in the short-term and is what is needed,

:02:25. > :02:26.but in the longer term, we need to make sure that this

:02:27. > :02:32.does not happen again. A spokesperson from

:02:33. > :02:36.the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust told me they're currently

:02:37. > :02:38.holding internal reviews into all three deaths

:02:39. > :02:40.and until they're completed They say they're working hard

:02:41. > :02:43.at reducing the time people are waiting on trolleys,

:02:44. > :02:45.but accept that patients are waiting longer than

:02:46. > :02:47.they would like and apologised A group of Morris dancers

:02:48. > :02:51.were forced to abandon a performance in the centre of Birmingham this

:02:52. > :02:53.weekend after being Several of the troop

:02:54. > :02:56.from Worcestershire had blackened their faces in line

:02:57. > :02:58.with some Morris dancing traditions. But a number of onlookers took

:02:59. > :03:06.exception and disrupted the dance. the practice dates back centuries

:03:07. > :03:10.and is not linked to race. It was supposed to be

:03:11. > :03:15.family-friendly fun, a traditional Morris dance

:03:16. > :03:17.to entertain shoppers and celebrate But at the Birmingham Bullring,

:03:18. > :03:35.a young, dark-skinned man Some of them had

:03:36. > :03:38.blackened their faces. He angrily and repeatedly

:03:39. > :03:40.called them racist. According to one account,

:03:41. > :03:49.hats were not from heads, Do not think you will not

:03:50. > :03:57.hurt someone's feelings! The dancers received

:03:58. > :03:59.such abuse, they decided I have spoken to the treasurer of

:04:00. > :04:07.the group, they are still deciding I'm told one of the members

:04:08. > :04:14.was so upset by the experience that he considered

:04:15. > :04:17.reporting it to the police. At the Bullring today,

:04:18. > :04:25.it was not hard to find others Will it equate incorrect and they

:04:26. > :04:29.should not have done it. I don't know the gave them license to feel

:04:30. > :04:33.they can do that in a cosmopolitan city like Birmingham. It is our

:04:34. > :04:41.tradition. People bothered to look into why they did it with their

:04:42. > :04:43.faces, it has nothing to do with race, with a multicultural society,

:04:44. > :04:46.we don't do that kind of thing you. Shropshire-based Mike Rust has been

:04:47. > :04:49.a Morris dancer for nearly 30 years. He says the practice of backing up

:04:50. > :04:51.data on the 17th century, when they dance was banned,

:04:52. > :05:01.and the dancers sought It is one of our ancient tradition

:05:02. > :05:05.that we enjoy doing. It comes from the rural parts of the Midlands.

:05:06. > :05:06.Herefordshire, Shropshire and Abbot of Worcester.

:05:07. > :05:08.Multicultural Birmingham seems to be in a little dome of itself,

:05:09. > :05:12.and what happens there is separate what happens out here.

:05:13. > :05:27.The police say they are aware of the incident and are reviewing

:05:28. > :05:29.information received, but have not started

:05:30. > :05:33.Well, you've been sending in your reaction to this story this evening.

:05:34. > :05:36.On e-mail, Mike in Telford says this is not racist,

:05:37. > :05:39.but has been part of a very old tradition.

:05:40. > :05:42.Mrs Rowlands from Bewdley says, I'm annoyed at the ignorance

:05:43. > :05:45.of those people who display a lack of knowledge of our English heritage

:05:46. > :05:47.and think they can disrupt and change our culture.

:05:48. > :05:50.But on Twitter, Pheobe says, blacking up is literally never OK,

:05:51. > :05:53.And on Facebook, Suzanne Morris says, this is not racist,

:05:54. > :05:57.Although a very old tradition, I think the "black face"

:05:58. > :06:01.Thank you very much for getting in touch.

:06:02. > :06:04.Two people died in a burning car after a crash that shut part

:06:05. > :06:08.of the M6 in Warwickshire in the early hours of this morning.

:06:09. > :06:11.Their vehicle hit a barrier on the motorway near Corley services.

:06:12. > :06:15.A man and a woman were confirmed dead at the scene.

:06:16. > :06:18.The road was closed for several hours, causing lengthy hold-ups

:06:19. > :06:23.on many surrounding roads during the morning rush hour.

:06:24. > :06:26.A large boulder which fell 40 feet down a cliff onto a railway line

:06:27. > :06:30.in Gloucestershire is continuing to cause disruption to services.

:06:31. > :06:34.Engineers have spent the day breaking it up into smaller pieces,

:06:35. > :06:37.but Network Rail say the line may not reopen before the morning.

:06:38. > :06:44.A boulder - six feet by four - which came tumbling down a steep

:06:45. > :06:52.It was fortunate that a train on the other line spotted it first

:06:53. > :07:03.Engineers have been on the track, near Kemble, all day.

:07:04. > :07:05.They have been breaking the lump up bit by bit.

:07:06. > :07:08.It had clearly broken through metal netting and cables drilled

:07:09. > :07:10.into the tight cutting to minimise the impact of landslides.

:07:11. > :07:13.We have had some minor falls from time to time,

:07:14. > :07:16.which is why the netting is there, to help the cutting

:07:17. > :07:22.Well, it is not designed to cope with anything of the size we saw

:07:23. > :07:26.Trains from Gloucester to Swindon have been able to pass

:07:27. > :07:29.through here at five miles per hour, but commuters wanting to get

:07:30. > :07:31.from Swindon to Gloucester have tried to use the bus service.

:07:32. > :07:33.That may continue while Network Rail's investigations

:07:34. > :07:40.We need to check that all the signalling equipment

:07:41. > :07:42.and the actual track itself is safe to run trains over.

:07:43. > :07:46.It is pretty robust but it has had a serious knock today.

:07:47. > :07:50.We're also taking some investigations into what is still up

:07:51. > :07:52.there the cutting wall, to see there's anything else

:07:53. > :07:57.that is likely to condone what need to do about that.

:07:58. > :07:59.The tight, rocky ravines here are a known problem

:08:00. > :08:03.It is close to the Sapperton Tunnel, which has undergone major

:08:04. > :08:05.repairs in recent years because of instability

:08:06. > :08:10.It could be that CCTV remote movement sensors could be

:08:11. > :08:12.installed here in future, which would raise the alarm

:08:13. > :08:24.If you live in Warwickshire, then you may have spotted some

:08:25. > :08:28.They were apparently paid-for by a woman called "Linda" seeking

:08:29. > :08:30.revenge against her cheating partner "Graham".

:08:31. > :08:33.Well, mystery continues to surround the identity of the couple,

:08:34. > :08:37.with some claiming it could be a publicity stunt.

:08:38. > :08:44.I don't think Linda meant it to be shared in America be on the BBC,

:08:45. > :08:47.but it is out there now and it is there for everyone to see.

:08:48. > :08:50.It's not a love story, it is an anti-love story,

:08:51. > :08:53.Like, who is she and why has she done this?

:08:54. > :08:58.On to sport, and the draw's been made for the fourth

:08:59. > :09:01.round of the FA Cup this evening, with both of our remaining

:09:02. > :09:04.Wolves will play either Plymouth or Liverpool,

:09:05. > :09:06.while Birmingham City will travel to Oxford United -

:09:07. > :09:08.if they can beat Newcastle in the third round replay.

:09:09. > :09:22.Good evening. Rumour has it that there could be some snow later this

:09:23. > :09:26.week and indeed there could be across some parts of the country.

:09:27. > :09:30.The north, west and east but less so here in the Midlands. This is how it

:09:31. > :09:35.looked across our region this morning. A lot of rain, dull and

:09:36. > :09:38.dreary, and this is how it ended up. This is how will shape up later this

:09:39. > :09:46.week after the mild and cloudy conditions we have cold, windy

:09:47. > :09:53.conditions from mid week onwards. At the moment, it is a case of wintry

:09:54. > :09:57.showers, nothing too substantial. In contrast, tonight is quite mild.

:09:58. > :10:06.Temperatures above freezing. We have a bit of rain to get through, some

:10:07. > :10:09.spits and sports in places. We start tomorrow on a cloudy zero but with a

:10:10. > :10:15.bit of brightness. Again, flickers of rain across the North and

:10:16. > :10:22.travelling southwards as well. Going into tomorrow night, temperatures

:10:23. > :10:25.drop slightly. Laws of around 5-7 C. A lot of cloud and much drier

:10:26. > :10:31.conditions with the odd spot of rain here and there. This. To pep up as

:10:32. > :10:37.we head into Wednesday's cell. Wednesday is largely dry. Cloudy

:10:38. > :10:41.start to the day but temperatures will be on the mild side through

:10:42. > :10:47.much the date, up to 10 Celsius. The cold north-westerly will bring

:10:48. > :10:51.cleaner air and clearly cloud. It will bring as much lower

:10:52. > :10:54.temperatures by Thursday. Looking further ahead, be strong

:10:55. > :10:59.north-westerly wind introduces Arctic air and bring some of the

:11:00. > :11:01.showers on Thursday. Wintry on high-risk game but temperatures

:11:02. > :11:05.struggling to 34 Celsius. precipitation we get will be of a

:11:06. > :11:08.wintry nation and Thursday is one we have to watch out for. The weekend

:11:09. > :11:11.outlook, it stays chilly with a northerly wind and possibly frosty

:11:12. > :11:20.nights. The national weather forecast now.

:11:21. > :11:25.Wet and windy weather across the western side of Scotland.

:11:26. > :11:28.Blood-pressure is in charge of the weather, lots of isobars and it

:11:29. > :11:32.remains windy overnight across northern and western parts of

:11:33. > :11:37.Scotland. It will blow a gale here. That is the north-west quadrant of

:11:38. > :11:40.the UK, that is where we expect most of the overnight rain. Within

:11:41. > :11:45.north-westerly breeze it is chilly and by the end of the night it is

:11:46. > :11:49.three or 4 degrees in major towns and cities, rural spots lower than

:11:50. > :11:53.that, and a risk of icy patches in some places. Across the eastern side

:11:54. > :11:55.of Scotland not much rain, more on the west, still breezy but not as

:11:56. > :11:57.windy
