:00:09. > :00:11.There's been disruption to road and rail traffic in Herefordshire,

:00:12. > :00:15.after a lorry loaded with 28 tonnes of grain CRASHED into a house

:00:16. > :00:22.No one was injured in this morning's accident near Lemster,

:00:23. > :00:25.but train services were badly affected and the road had to be

:00:26. > :00:34.The lorry crashed into the house next to a level crossing

:00:35. > :00:36.in Leominster in freezing conditions just before 6am.

:00:37. > :00:39.It was stuck on its side, embedded into the brickwork

:00:40. > :00:44.The man who lives there, who does not want to be named,

:00:45. > :00:46.spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester earlier.

:00:47. > :00:51.I guessed something had gone into the house.

:00:52. > :00:54.I knew it wouldn't be a train because it wouldn't be

:00:55. > :00:58.I jumped out of bed, put on some trainers and came

:00:59. > :01:01.As you can see, the lorry won't go anywhere.

:01:02. > :01:05.The lorry was carrying 28 tonnes of grain.

:01:06. > :01:09.The recovery operation took all morning as a structural engineer

:01:10. > :01:13.advised crews on the ground, and power lines were taken down.

:01:14. > :01:16.We first wanted to make sure everyone was all right and not

:01:17. > :01:20.injured which I am happy to confirm is the case.

:01:21. > :01:23.Next, it was about how do we recover the situation as safely as possible.

:01:24. > :01:26.Unfortunately it has had a big effect on the railway network

:01:27. > :01:29.and roads, inconveniencing people quite a bit.

:01:30. > :01:36.Slowly, steadily, the lorry was winched away revealing damaged

:01:37. > :01:41.A friend of the owner gave his reaction.

:01:42. > :01:44.I was delighted to see it was standing.

:01:45. > :01:47.It doesn't seem to be too badly damaged.

:01:48. > :01:51.You must be worried about your friend?

:01:52. > :01:56.Oh, yes, very worried, quite a shock.

:01:57. > :01:59.As you can see, after several hours, the lorry has now been moved,

:02:00. > :02:04.the clear-up operation is going on, and the bricks that were damaged

:02:05. > :02:07.Trains between Shrewsbury and Hereford were cancelled

:02:08. > :02:12.By early afternoon, things were getting back to normal.

:02:19. > :02:30.It happened at a property on City Road, in Edgbaston, just after 4.30.

:02:31. > :02:32.West Midlands Police said nothing could be done to save the man,

:02:33. > :02:34.who was pronounced dead at the scene.

:02:35. > :02:36.His Death Is Not Being Treated As Suspicious.

:02:37. > :02:38.People in a remote part of Herefordshire say they'll be

:02:39. > :02:41.forced to travel at least 14 miles to their nearest bank,

:02:42. > :02:44.after their last local branch closed it's doors for good.

:02:45. > :02:47.One customer in Kington was SO frustrated he decided

:02:48. > :02:54.to ride his horse to deposit his last cheque.

:02:55. > :02:57.It's one of 62 branches being closed by HSBC this year.

:02:58. > :03:00.The bank says 93% of customer contact at that branch was done

:03:01. > :03:03.on the internet or the phone, and not in person.

:03:04. > :03:05.Now, it's a moment 30 years in the making -

:03:06. > :03:07.a Staffordshire father has finally met the daughter

:03:08. > :03:13.A DNA test confirmed that John Duncan was indeed the father

:03:14. > :03:17.And incredibly, it seems they spent years going to the same pub

:03:18. > :03:18.without knowing they were father and daughter.

:03:19. > :03:26.Many an extraordinary story has been told in pubs.

:03:27. > :03:34.A 52-year-old psychological coach from Stone, happy married,

:03:35. > :03:40.This is Fifi who, approaching her 30th birthday last year,

:03:41. > :03:42.decided now is the time to find her father,

:03:43. > :03:48.Two strangers who were frequenting the same pub.

:03:49. > :03:54.I went on holiday to a very beautiful place, sat on the edge

:03:55. > :03:58.of a loch with some writing paper and decided to go for it and do it.

:03:59. > :04:01.Fifi Giannitto wrote this letter to the man

:04:02. > :04:05.she believed to be her father, a man who hadn't seen her

:04:06. > :04:08.grow up because he was unaware she even existed.

:04:09. > :04:17.And I hope you want to be in touch with me.

:04:18. > :04:21.Fifi had done her own detective work, finding her father's address.

:04:22. > :04:24.John Duncan received the letter and struggled to believe

:04:25. > :04:31.I turned up to kind of explain that I wasn't her dad.

:04:32. > :04:34.But John did agree to have a DNA test.

:04:35. > :04:39.The number came up as 99.99% positive, so there is

:04:40. > :04:45.And I just sat there, I don't know how long I sat

:04:46. > :04:51.I can't tell you, I just sat looking at that screen.

:04:52. > :04:56.You have waves of emotion of anger, happiness.

:04:57. > :04:59.John had a relationship with Fifi's mother in the 1980s,

:05:00. > :05:09.Why, after 30 years, were you not aware that John was your dad?

:05:10. > :05:13.She had her reasons, we don't really want to focus on that part.

:05:14. > :05:19.We are just happy that we've found each other now

:05:20. > :05:24.I think he is wonderful. Amazing.

:05:25. > :05:31.I am so happy he wants me in his life.

:05:32. > :05:33.She is kind, she's intelligent,

:05:34. > :05:36.she's beautiful. She's caring.

:05:37. > :05:37.She's everything you could want in a daughter.

:05:38. > :05:40.As if this story couldn't be any more extraordinary,

:05:41. > :05:42.Fifi and John's paths have probably crossed before.

:05:43. > :05:48.So, we could have been standing at the bar next to each other,

:05:49. > :05:54.Proving that some surprises are worth the wait.
