:00:09. > :00:11.A BBC investigation's found an increasing number of students

:00:12. > :00:14.in Gloucestershire are turning to sex work to pay off their debts.

:00:15. > :00:17."Sugaring" is an American phenomenon where young women find older men

:00:18. > :00:22.online who'll fund their education, in return for sexual

:00:23. > :00:33.It's a world where the women are called sugar babies,

:00:34. > :00:38.Look online and you will find dozens of students posting adverts

:00:39. > :00:45.It is like online dating, but with one big difference -

:00:46. > :00:47.the man pays the woman for her company.

:00:48. > :00:49.Coco has been doing this for two years.

:00:50. > :00:52.She lives in a bedsit in Gloucester and dropped out

:00:53. > :00:54.of her college course last year because she couldn't

:00:55. > :00:59.Is there an expectation that you will have sex at some point

:01:00. > :01:06.For me, it's just like a normal relationship.

:01:07. > :01:10.Coco is one of a growing number of young people

:01:11. > :01:14.who are funding their education in this way.

:01:15. > :01:16.When I don't see him, I get ?500 per month.

:01:17. > :01:19.But when I do see him, I know, guaranteed, I will get ?1,000

:01:20. > :01:22.per month in my account and maybe some treats as well.

:01:23. > :01:25.A recent study by Swansea University found that 4.8% of UK students

:01:26. > :01:34.So who would pay someone for a sugar relationship, and why?

:01:35. > :01:37.I have spent months trawling the internet, contacting dozens

:01:38. > :01:40.of men who advertise themselves online as sugar daddies.

:01:41. > :01:46.Finally, one of them has agreed to meet me, on the condition

:01:47. > :01:51.This is Darren - that is not his real name,

:01:52. > :01:59.Something along the lines of, 40-something businessman

:02:00. > :02:03.with his own hair and teeth would like to meet female for sugar

:02:04. > :02:12.If there was money being exchanged, and sex, did you see it

:02:13. > :02:24.Because is that not, in a sense, exploiting women

:02:25. > :02:32.I wouldn't actually know where else to go.

:02:33. > :02:37.Other than sitting night after night in a bar.

:02:38. > :02:40.So I wouldn't know how to meet those people otherwise.

:02:41. > :02:43.And secondly I don't see it as exploitative.

:02:44. > :02:49.For the students, there is no anticipated sexual relationship.

:02:50. > :02:52.With the average student debt now running at ?44,000,

:02:53. > :03:01.it is easy to see why some turn to sugar dating as

:03:02. > :03:05.There's been a call tonight for local authorities to provide

:03:06. > :03:06.more officially organised sites for travellers.

:03:07. > :03:09.It came from the Police Crime Commissioner

:03:10. > :03:12.for the West Midlands after around 900 pupils were forced to stay

:03:13. > :03:15.at home after travellers pitched up illegally at a Birmingham school.

:03:16. > :03:23.This was the view at Shenley Academy this morning on what should

:03:24. > :03:25.have been the first day back after half-term.

:03:26. > :03:28.At 7:30, police and council bailiffs moved in to evict the travellers.

:03:29. > :03:32.By late morning they were on the move but the leaving came too

:03:33. > :03:36.late to prevent disruption to the school day,

:03:37. > :03:39.much to the frustration of staff and parents.

:03:40. > :03:42.We were hopeful that actually with serving an eviction notice

:03:43. > :03:46.on Saturday afternoon that they would be gone 24 hours

:03:47. > :03:49.The reality is that hasn't been the case.

:03:50. > :03:56.So 800 children have not been able to attend school today.

:03:57. > :03:59.The had no reason to take over a school and disturb everybody else.

:04:00. > :04:04.There is no way our kids can be able to get their education

:04:05. > :04:06.with these people in, you know, on the field.

:04:07. > :04:08.With more than 20 families thought to be on site,

:04:09. > :04:11.including large numbers of children, clearing it took some time.

:04:12. > :04:13.There was also frustration among travellers who blame the council

:04:14. > :04:19.Government money won't make sites and this is what happens.

:04:20. > :04:26.We asked the council to provide us with a car park we can

:04:27. > :04:30.It's not fair on the children either.

:04:31. > :04:32.Not being able to stay based in a school cos they're

:04:33. > :04:35.going to have to keep moving from country to country.

:04:36. > :04:37.In fact, Birmingham City Council operates just once legal site

:04:38. > :04:41.It has been the subject of disputes and is not

:04:42. > :04:46.Two new sites are apparently under discussion, something the Police

:04:47. > :04:49.and Crime Commissioner says should be a matter of urgency.

:04:50. > :04:52.What we need are proper sites where the police can

:04:53. > :05:01.If there aren't those sites, the police don't have the power

:05:02. > :05:04.The local authorities have got to find a common solution to this,

:05:05. > :05:07.working together and not shunting the problem from one

:05:08. > :05:10.When we arrived here this morning, this whole area was full

:05:11. > :05:14.As you can see they have now gone and the clear up

:05:15. > :05:19.But the travellers left something behind them, a young pony.

:05:20. > :05:22.If they don't come back and collect it then the school says

:05:23. > :05:33.Having left the school by this afternoon, the travellers had set up

:05:34. > :05:37.Local people told me they were evicted in this

:05:38. > :05:43.This is a problem that is mobile but clearly not going away.

:05:44. > :05:45.A prison officer's recovering in hospital after being attacked

:05:46. > :05:48.by an inmate at HMP Oakwood in Wolverhampton.

:05:49. > :05:50.G4S, who run the jail, have confirmed that the officer

:05:51. > :05:53.suffered a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain

:05:54. > :05:56.after being punched while letting a prisoner out of his cell.

:05:57. > :06:01.Police are investigating the incident.

:06:02. > :06:05.The new Labour MP for Stoke Central has taken his seat in Parliament.

:06:06. > :06:07.Gareth Snell won the by-election last Thursday with a 2,500 majority,

:06:08. > :06:13.fighting off a challenge from Ukip leader Paul Nuttall.

:06:14. > :06:15.Chicken farmers in Shropshire are unhappy with new rules to tackle

:06:16. > :06:17.bird flu because they vary between England and Wales.

:06:18. > :06:20.Those on the English side of the River Severn have

:06:21. > :06:24.to keep their birds locked up, so lose their free range status.

:06:25. > :06:25.But no such restrictions apply in Wales.

:06:26. > :06:31.Here's our Rural Affairs Correspondent David Gregory Kumar.

:06:32. > :06:33.This week, strict new rules to deal with the bird flu

:06:34. > :06:37.But this Shropshire chicken farmer has spotted something strange

:06:38. > :06:39.about the government's new "high risk areas" designed

:06:40. > :06:43.So what did you think when you saw the map?

:06:44. > :06:47.There was the high risk area, outlined there, and there was a huge

:06:48. > :06:55.And Melverly in Shropshire is at the heart of the problem.

:06:56. > :06:58.So the high risk areas are based around bits of water where migratory

:06:59. > :07:00.waterfowl might come in and bring the disease with them.

:07:01. > :07:03.And here is one near Telford and, as you can see,

:07:04. > :07:07.But look at this one that is not far from Shrewsbury,

:07:08. > :07:16.As you can see, there is an enormous chunk that has been taken out of it

:07:17. > :07:23.The end result is that in this high risk area, chickens,

:07:24. > :07:26.turkeys and geese must stay locked up on the English side of the river,

:07:27. > :07:31.The thing is this is England and this is where you have the enhanced

:07:32. > :07:33.extra bio-security measure and the birds all covered,

:07:34. > :07:36.whereas just over the river there is Wales, where they can

:07:37. > :07:42.This is why we have the high risk area here, because of this river.

:07:43. > :07:45.This very nasty form of bird flu poses no risk to humans,

:07:46. > :07:52.but it can kill 80% of a flock of farm birds in a matter of days.

:07:53. > :07:54.The man in charge in England insists the two different

:07:55. > :08:05.Wales have made it very clear to their farmers

:08:06. > :08:07.that they need to consider very carefully their risks and take

:08:08. > :08:11.And that includes housing if they are at high risk.

:08:12. > :08:18.But this difference could cost English farmers

:08:19. > :08:22.Those who have to keep their birds inside like this will lose

:08:23. > :08:27.There are no such problems for Welsh farmers just over the border.

:08:28. > :08:32.It's the same situation all along the border

:08:33. > :08:40.Very different rules to tackle the same disease.

:08:41. > :08:43.Finally, bidders at an auction house in Birmingham were left stunned

:08:44. > :08:45.today when a Chinese vase, valued at ?1,200, was sold

:08:46. > :08:49.Valuers and the seller had believed it was a 20th century copy

:08:50. > :08:51.of a style of vase dating back to the 1500s.

:08:52. > :08:54.But several antique hunters realised it was the genuine article,

:08:55. > :08:56.attracting interest from around the world.

:08:57. > :09:02.The vase went to a mystery phone bidder in China.

:09:03. > :09:04.I was trying to remember what the next bid was.

:09:05. > :09:06.I've never sold anything of this value before,

:09:07. > :09:11.so it was a moment of excitement for all of us at the auction house.

:09:12. > :09:14.I'll leave you with Shefali and the weather forecast.

:09:15. > :09:36.Was a lively day with a brain in some parts. There was sunshine in

:09:37. > :09:41.some parts and snow in others. It doesn't sound too good considering

:09:42. > :09:45.march is around the corner and it is the start of meteorological spring.

:09:46. > :09:52.Showers and rain this week, gusty winds at times, and it will be

:09:53. > :10:04.frilly wintry in places as well. -- fairly. We have a warning of ice.

:10:05. > :10:07.Most places should see temperatures above freezing due to the breeze

:10:08. > :10:12.being quite noticeable but once these showers close tarmac clear

:10:13. > :10:18.into the early hours, frost in sheltered spots and ice on untreated

:10:19. > :10:23.surfaces which could make the rush-hour tricky tomorrow. It dry

:10:24. > :10:27.and sunny start and then we start to see another batch of showers

:10:28. > :10:34.crossing the region. There could be sleet or snow in some of those. It

:10:35. > :10:39.will be a blustery day. There could be gusts of 50 miles an hour over

:10:40. > :10:47.high ground. Showers into tomorrow evening and night. They will clear

:10:48. > :10:58.into the early hours of Thursday morning. Quite a dry day on

:10:59. > :10:59.Wednesday, but for the list of -- rest of the week, low pressure

:11:00. > :11:04.dominating. More rain on Friday. John Hammond has the weather for the

:11:05. > :11:06.rest of the
